Losing Z10 Storage Capacity / Free Space not increasing after file deletion in BB Link?

If anyone has tried adding and removing items to the z10 via blackberry link and noticed that once items are deleted the space that should be freed up completely disappears from BB link.... don't panic. I checked on my phone and the storage space is still free 11.4GB But on BB Link I now only show 3.9GB free space so I cannot add all the files that I want to. I restarted the phone. No change. I restarted BB Link and it now shows all my free space - obviously just a minor bug.

I had read something about this else where so I thought i'd share my findings as it looks like I'm not the only one and someone may have a panic attack.
I uploaded around 7gb of mp3 data that i later deleted. My free space stayed at 3.9gb and did not increase but my overall space went down to around 4gb showing 3 photos and a movie trailer as my only stored items.

  • Netweaver BI 7.0 on DB6, Space not reclaimed after PSA deletion

    Hi,
We recently moved from Oracle to DB6 ( DB2 9.7.0 on AIX) for our Netweaver BI 7.0 system. Previously when we schedule the PSA deletion jobs we will see the benefits that the space is reclaimed, but now on DB6  we dont see that the space is reclaimed after PSA deletion. The DB size went up by whooping 30 GB in one month which was not expected. Please advice.
    Thanks in advance
    Siva

    Hi Debanshu,
    This is specific to DB6.
To 'reclaim' the storage (no matter what is the activity after which you expect some storage to be 'freed'), this is the procedure you have to carry out. Also, try to study about High water mark in detail.

  • Free space not showing after shrinking BootCamp Partition

I gave a lot of space for the windows 8 bootcamp partition because I thought I am going to install Lots of stuff on it.
After 3 months I found out that my lion partition is almost full!  And I have 100 GB of free (Unused) partition on my bootcamp partition.
So I shrunk my bootcamp partition (in windows) by 60 GB.  I plan to expand my lion partition in OSX so then I restarted my mac.
Next I went to disk Utility and found out that I can't expand my lion partition with the free space.  Until then I realized that lion and windows have different file systems (oops.)  so I decided to expand my windows partition back to normal.
Then I went back in windows and found out that the free space is not showing in disk management!  What should I do next??
The free space is showing on top but when I right-click the windows partition the "Extend volume" option is greyed out.
PS I dont care about the mac partition now.  Did some cleaning with CCleaner and freed 10 GB

you should have asked first to get some ideas? I would have recommended Paragon CampTuneX which is designed to resize those partitions for you.
You want to have 20-30GB free space for any OS. If you were using an SSD, at least that much or even more.
I have no idea if iPartition or gpart can help you now.

  • Xmltype queue payload - LOBSEGMENT space not reused after message deleted

    Hi All,
We use an xmltype payload for our AQ messages and the LOBSEGMENT continues to grow upwards of 17GB. The strange part is that when we delete all of the AQ messages and add more, the LOBSEGMENT continues to increase in size right away.
Can someone explain to me how this is working and the proper way to reclaim the space from the LOBSEGMENT when the work message is completed?
    Thanks!
    Tony

My first recommendation is that both of you open SRs at metalink and lets see if we can get Oracle to fix this rather than just starting a workaround.
I haven't tried this but I wonder what would happen if you did the following:
    ALTER TABLE <table_name> ENABLE ROW MOVEMENT;
    ALTER TABLE <table_name> SHRINK SPACE CASCADE;
ALTER TABLE <table_name> DISABLE ROW MOVEMENT';Please let us know.

  • Table space not reduce after delete in oracle 10g

    Hi..
Based on my system, i have found that my oracle table space did not reduce after the deletion query. Why ?.. Could somebody help me. As your info, I am using oracle 10g.
    Thank you,
    Baharin

After Delete the table space will not be set free. high water mark will not be reset. to regain the space you need to recognize the objects from which you deleted the data. This can be done in many ways.
    1) Move the objects.
Alter table temp move --> optionally tablespace clause can be used. After this you need to rebuild table indexes.
    2) With 10g table can be shrinked or reorganize to free the space.
    alter table mytable enable row movement;
    alter table mytable shrink space;
    3) Export/Import
export the objects and drop and recreate with import.

  • Regarding space not released after rm commend on root

    hello guys
actually i am facing an unexpected problem
i have a folder /archivelog which is mounted on ocfs.daily i used to store my export file here. But yesterday i started taking exp from one terminal with file=28june.dmp and after starting it removed previous day export from other terminal with file=27june.dmp.
But i have seen something different.
i fired rm -rf 27june.dmp it returned the root prompt immediately though daily to remove a 60 gb file it taken 30-40 seconds.
also it didn't released the spcae from /archivelog and also removed the file
means its not listing the file and also the space is not released ...i also fired command updatedb..but still the space is not released.
hoe could this be possible..anyone has any idea so kindly tell

There is a bug with ocfs2 if you delete archive logs manually some time will not freee the space which is used. So for future to avoid this case use rman to delete archive logs.
now to free space need ocfs2 partition to delete and create again with ocfs2. becarefull with this.
    Thanks,

  • Table space not reduce after delete in oracle 11G

    Hi Team,
    I have a DB 11.1.0.7 on unix.
I have execute delete tables on tablespace, but this not reduce.
    Thanks

What segment space management type is defined for the tablespace in question?
    MANUAL
Then you should check out the documentation some more.
But even if you shrink the table segement what is that going to do for the data file size?
    I don't undertand you.
ThanksYour thread is titled "Table space not reduce after delete in oracle 11G" which implies to me that you are interested in reducing the size of a tablespace (which really means reducing the size of the underlying datafile(s)).
So, if you shrink the size of the sys.aud$ table, will that cause the datafile(s) to become smaller? Will it accomplish your goal? What else, if anything, needs to happen?

    Hi Shivanq,
To get a list of databases, their sizes and the space available in each on the local SQL instance.
dir SQLSERVER:\SQL\localhost\default\databases | Select Name, Size, SpaceAvailable | ft -auto

Correct KiltedTim the iPhone does not have a disk drive, and it does give an error message about running out of disk space. I'm here searching for how to clear it and/or what causes it. A friends 8gb iphone 3G has started giving her that message. It is not jailbroken, has no videos, 400 songs, 20 apps. The system information says there is 0 bytes free. There is 4.6 Gb of "other" data taking up the remaining free space. None of the few apps on the phone I expect would take up that much space with data. Even her emails and saved text messages shouldn't fill 4GB. New iPhone coming in the next couple of days. Easiest to just reset the old one after the upgrade and redownload the apps to make sure not to mess things up.

iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.
Authorizing a computer does not cause media to magically appear.
Media is only where the user puts it.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

  • 166Gb of free space not showing in Finder

Hi, my Mac started saying I need to free up space on my Startup Disk. I was suprised, but as I've been doing some film work, I just thought it must take up even more space than I thought. Anway, I free'd up loads of spaced, I moved all my film files to an external disk, deleted them from where they were, and emptied the trash. I've got rid of other things like Internet cache and downloads, basically, I know i have space now. However, my Mac insists on saying I only have about 2Gb free. On another site, someone recommended something called Disk Inventory X, which gives a visual picture of what files etc are taking up space on the Mac. I ran this, and low and behold I have 166Gb free. The screen shot below shows the big blue square of free space. If you can zoom in, it shows this as something outside of the home 'Tiger' thing, under Users - .tiger, as though its partitioned or something?! I don't really understand how Mac's work under the hood of pretty buttons etc, so I'm a bit stuck now.
Can anyone please tell me why my Mac can't see or let me use all this free space?
I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. It is a 13" mid 2009 MacBook Pro 5.5, 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4Gb 1067 MHz DDR3 if that's of any help.
    Many thanks in advance.

With regard to corruption at the HD level, it is unlikely but possible - I would run Disk Utility's "Verify Disk" if you haven't already done so.
'It' is the Home folder in Finder
Yes, as I mentioned in my earlier post, it is "normal" (and not meaningful) for a FileVault Home to show an apparent capacity that is twice the capacity of the HD itself. The "Used" space reported there is likewise meaningless - that's why I earlier suggested a different method for determining the total size of your user files. However the reported "available" space is apparently accurate, and at least in my test setup is the same number that you will see for "available" if you Get Info on Macintosh HD.
I have 177Gb of User stuff, this also includes my Applications
So as not to compare apples and oranges, "user stuff" generally refers only to those items within the home folder. Some people have a second Applications folder within the home folder, but if you are instead referring to applications in the standard Applications folder (HD>Applications) then that space is generally not counted as "user files." It makes a difference when you are trying to see if the numbers "add up", as is the case here. In your first screenshot, Disk Inventory X reported 94.5GB in HD>Library, 23.3GB in HD>Applications. and about 13GB in other places, for a total of 131GB, which after the 7% correction to decimal GB, is about 140GB. If you have 177GB of stuff within your home folder using the method I suggested earlier, then that would completely fill your 320GB HD. If you had counted the entire main Applications folder as part of your "user stuff"  then you would be expected to have about 25GB free - still not a lot on a 320GB HD.
With regard to just wiping the HD and re-installing the OS, yes you can then drag back your user data, but apps can be problematic. Apps that were originally installed by dragging them directly from a downloaded .dmg or apps that were bought in the App store can usually just be copied back into /Applications, but apps that were originally installed via an installer package often have support files that were installed in other places as well, and such apps usually have to be re-installed from scratch. The Libraries generally contain important information as well (Mail, Keychains, and Bookmarks as well as application support files and preference files). You would also have to re-do network settings, etc.
I asked whether you had a large (>750GB) empty partition of external storage still available, because I think that would be  your best bet for recovering everything intact. If you have such a large external partition formatted for the Mac, I would try the following:
Create a new admin account, log out of the FileVault account, and log into the new account. From there, run Carbon Copy Cloner to clone Macintosh HD onto the large external drive. Reboot from that external drive, and log into the FileVault account there. Now everything should be as before, except for one important  difference - you should now have enough free space to turn off FileVault! If this works you could eventually clone back to the internal HD, presumably after pruning back some of your stuff if necessary.
FileVault, as you have seen, can cause lots of issues. I have never used it except for testing and tinkering. It was completely re-done for Lion, and Lion's FileVault is reportedly is a big improvement, but I haven't used it there myself.

  • Amount of free space not consistent on iPhone 4 with iTunes 10

The amount indicated as "free space" does not stay consistent in iTunes 10. The value keeps changing.

Addenda: 1) The free space indicator does not update in real time (e.g., while adding new music to the iPod) as it did in previous versions if iTunes.
    2) The error(s) in the iTunes free space calculations can cause syncing probems when the iPod is almost full. For example, I might try to add 400K worth of music on my iPod, which has about twice that much free space. iTunes 10 will tell me there's not enough room on the iPod and will not synch. Identical library on a different computer running iTunes 9 will allow the same iPod to synch. Interestingly, in this scenario, iTunes 10 will give me a different number for the amount of free storage required to update each time I press the "Sync" button.
