Lost access to one of my iTunes libraries with 10.4

I have upgraded to OSX10.7 and iTunes 10.4. Before I was running two separate libraries in iTunes. One works now but the other is greyed out and will not open. Is there a way I can convert this other library?

I have answered my own question but it may be of general help - If you have more than one library but only one of them is recognised, try the following: Compress the one which is recognised and throw out the original. Then attempt to start iTunes. It will say you need to find or create a library. Select Find and do not try to select the library you want to open. Instead select the folder in which it resides. It should then open fine. If you have only had one library but have lost access to it, it would probably do no harm to use this technique of selecting the enclosing folder, rather than the library.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    You can't merge accounts.
You can however share or import content from another library/account using homesharing.

  • IPhones can't access Home Sharing w/ One Computer & Multiple iTunes Libraries

I have a Mac Pro that I am using as a iTunes media server for my home entertainment network. This computer has two user accounts. Each user account has it's own iTunes Library. One is for my kid's movies and the other is for my wife and I's movies. I have both of the libraries setup for Home Sharing and for the most part this works perfectly for viewing with Apple TV and the laptops that we have. Both libraries are available for use on these devices.
Where I am having trouble is with iPhones. My wife and I have iPhone 6s and when we open the Videos app it shows that only one library is available. Her phone might show the kid's library as available and mine will show the other library or visa versa. The libraries are not available at the same time on our iPhones. As I stated, our other devices are fine and are able to access each library when desired.
As an example, Jack's Library & Jane's Library are available under shared, seen in the inserted image. In my situation, only one of the libraries would be available even though both libraries are setup for Home Sharing.
I have tried the following (none resolved the issue):
    Close/Re-Open iTunes
Turning Home Sharing off/on for each of the iTunes Libraries
Turning Home Sharing off/on for each of the iPhones
    De-Authorize/Re-Authorize my Mac Pro
    Reboot Mac Pro

Home Sharing is for something else - sharing media between 2 computers, not one.
There aren't any instructions for home sharing for two accounts on one computer, because you can only have itunes open in one windows user account at a time.
What you need to know about is *How to share music between different accounts on a single computer*

At least, I think thats what you're trying to do!

  • One PC multiple Itunes Libraries

    Hi,
I have one family Windows 7 PC with 4 user accounts.
I want all Libraries to appear in my ATV2 computer list.
The only way i can see each one is to log on to that profile on the PC run itunes and that library is then in the ATV2 menu.
Does itunes have to be running to be able to see the library in ATV2
If itunes has to run how can itunes be run at the same time on different PC profiles - i keep getting an error message telling me to shut down the other itunes session.

just add the media from the other accounts to 1 account
the whole DRM copy protection was discontinued in itunes a while ago
and if older songs still have it you can right click and remove it
and yes with atv2 itune have to be running and it will only stream the lib the running itunes got access to

  • One Match, One ApplID - Two iTunes Libraries

I have more than one iTunes libraries.  One which is on my MacBook that I carry with me and one which is on my NAS.  My NAS is a huge library and often the backup of seldom played songs etc. the MacBook has more recent downloads and songs I carry with me on various iOS devices (Touch, Nano, iPhone, iPAD).
These two libraries are NOT distinct.  There are about 19,500 songs in all and 12,000 of those are in both libraries.
My question is, can I run Match on both (both have the same ApplID) and NOT have duplicates? Or will running Match across both libraries cause me to double up on my 12,000 tracks that are the same?
As it is now, I use the "Option-Click" to choose the library file based on location and music preferences.
    Thanks,
    Chris

When you initially setup your Apple TV it should have used one of your computers to sync with. You can set the other computer up to stream content to your Apple TV. You should be able to go under settings computers and setup your second computer to stream content.

  • TS2972 I would like to share my iTunes libraries with my Apple TV from both my iMac and Macbook Pro, but I use the same iTunes account on both devices. Is it possible to link my Apple TV to both devices at the same time?

I recently purchased an Apple TV, and I currently have it linked to my iMac with my iTunes account. I also have a newer MacBook Pro that has some different iTunes media on it than my iMac does, but they share iTunes accounts. Is it possible to link both devices at the same time, have access to media on both computers, and use the same iTunes account on both computers?? It seems Apple TV will only link to one iTunes account per computer, but can access multiple computers if different iTunes accounts are activated on those computers.

You can share multiple libraries with the Apple TV, they don't even need to use the same iTunes account. Just make sure that you use the same ID for homesharing on all devices.

  • Sync multiple iTunes libraries with iPod?

How do I sync several iTunes libraries (selectable by holding down ALT while starting iTunes) with my iPod Touch (4th generation)?
With limited hard drive space on my Powerbook I've chosen to create an iTunes library which more or less just contains podcasts and internet radio stations etc. and use an external drive for another library which contains all my music.
I was hoping I could switch between the different libraries and have my iPod sync to both of them, but alas I get a message when switching over to the "music" library that my iPod "belongs to" another library and that if I choose to use the current one everything will be erased and overwritten.
So how do I prevent this from happening while allowing me to add music from the second library?

I'm not sure if I've got it right but I've played around a bit after reading the above and come to the conclusion that I first need to check (turn on) the "Manually manage music and videos" (and most likely "Open Itunes when this iPod is connected") options in iTunes when I click on my iPod icon on the left column.
But much to my surprise I can still have iTunes automatically (or so it seems) sync my podcasts which makes things a whole lot easier than doing that manually for each podcast update!
For everything else (music, videos, PDF files/books/audiobooks, iTunes U, Ringtones etc.) I will need to manually drag and drop over to the iPod. To make things easier I created a playlist folder named "Manually transfer to iPod" with various playlists inside (just to make it easier to see what my iPod contains from that particular library and to organize things neatly).
And instead of dragging the items from each playlist over to the iPod I simply select the folder, then drag all the items on the right hand side (contents) over to the iPod.
I haven't tried switching libraries yet, but I assume I'll be able to add media from there as well without any problems.
    Was this what you meant?

  • How to merge 2 iTunes libraries with song rating intact?

My wife and I have separate iTunes libraries, and we need to merge them together on a PC.  We rate songs on our own, and want to retain the ratings and album image while merging it.  Does anyone know of a webpage that has a step by step guide to do this?  Thanks

Turn on enable home sharing in both iTunes accounts, and then you should be able to get both libraries onto one phone. This is assuming that both libraries are on the same computer. The link describes how it works on a Mac. This link seems to explain how to do it on Mac or PC.

  • Multiple macs & different iTunes libraries with iCloud

I have multiple macs with different iTunes libraries, and I don't want to blend them.  What do I need to know/do before setting up and using iCloud?  I don't mind choosing one library for use with iCloud, but I don't want to disturb the other libraries - although I do want to continue to sync calendars, address book, etc. on each computer.  Can I have more than one computer having the same iTunes library?
    Thanks for any feedback!

  • Will one copy or iTunes work with 2 iPods?

A friend, who has the same kind of iPod I do, the 4th gen 20GB click-wheel, has asked me to help him with his. He's unable to get anything at all put on it by his copy of iTunes, which he recently downloaded and installed.
I'm thinking I'd like to try his iPod with my iTunes on my computer. (Both he and I have Win XP.) But can iTunes work with 2 iPods with no problems? Can I sync from my library to his iPod, make sure that it plays on his iPod, then restore his iPod? After that I suppose I'd have to reinstall the latest software version, 3.3.1?
    So a bunch of questions..
    Thanks

  • Why can't my apple tv 2 see my macbook itunes libraries with home sharing enabled on both devices?  Same Apple id.

I cannot see my macbook pro snow leopard 10.6.8 itunes libraries on my apple tv 2.  i have disabled and re-enabled home sharing on both devices using the same Apple ID.  I used to be able to see it but not anymore.  There has been a router upgrade to Linksys E2000 but i haven't been able to find anything that would inhibit home sharing.

Switched back to the old D-Link and all is available.  Looking for solutions from Linksys.

  • I am unable to access one of the iTunes libraries through home sharing

I have 3 computers in my home and we all share music. However suddenly I am not able to access one of the libraries from the other computers. This was never an issue before. What happens is when I click on the library that is giving problems it shows like it is loading the library and then it goes back to the library for the computer that was trying to access the other one. The home sharing is enable and the latest version of iTunes is running. Any suggestions?

  • One computer, two itunes libraries, ?one authorization

I plan to buy a new iMac and will set up two user accounts on the one device. If each account has their own iTunes library, will that require one or two authorizations. I am concerned because I did not have a chance to deauthorize my other machines. Thank you for the information.

An authorization is for an iTunes store account.
If you have 2 (or more) user accounts on your computer and they all have individual libraries and all are authorized to use the one iTunes account, you will only have used one iTunes authorization.
One machine uses one authorization, regardless of number of user accounts.

  • Can I use 2 different iPhones (and iTunes libraries) with one ATV2?  How?

My wife and I just bought an ATV2. We both have and use iPhone 3Gs's. I installed the remote app on both phones, but I am only able to control the ATV2 with the first phone I synced with ATV2. It doesn't seem that ATV2 cares what library it links to since the user has to turn on "Home Sharing" in their individual iTunes account. ATV2 appears to be set up so that you can choose what library you want to use (Under the settings). So can I use two different iPhones with one ATV2?

You can home-share multiple libraries but only use one account at a time. So both phones would need to be signed in under the same apple ID.
