Lost Album Cover Art
When you download music from iTunes, you also download the album cover. I ended up wiping my hard drive a few months ago due to a virus, and had backed up all my music, but lost the album cover art. I would like to back them up, but I don't know where to look. Where are they stored in the computer?
OK in windows media player, it will pull the album art up, but it doesn't attach the art to the song, instead it hides the art in the system and attaches a series of numbers to be ID. In iTUnes tho the art is attached to the songs tags.
Now there may be some program you can find on the net that will automaticly do this for you, I have no idea but heres how to do it manually.
Now the art work will reside where the song is. Since most music is put in the "My MUsic" folder i'll focus there, but if you have songs in another folder there artwork will be in that folder with them. Open My Music folder and goto tools>folder options>view tab Now check "Show Hidden Files and Folder" then UNCHECK "Hide Protected Operating System Files" You should now see all the album art listed.

I like the idea of being able to browse using cover art but it is only a useful feature if you can get most cover art . There are many albums for which iTunes has album cover art, albums which I own original copies of, for which I can't get album art.
Examples: Sigur Ros /Saeglour, T-Bone Burnett /True False Identity, Paul Simon/ Surprise, Graceland, all of Van Morrison's albums, most Dylan and Neil Young albums and many others.
Apple put this feature on I Tunes, but many album covers which you show on the Itunes store website don't download. I have both checked "automatically download missing album artwork" in preferences and requested Get album artwork in the Advanced Tab . If I control click on the album artwork on iTunes store, I can't even copy the image to paste it in manually. Also, when I request album art I often get an "unable to download certain artwork " message with no further explanation. If I'm supposed to buy the album art I'd like to know how and how much.
What's up?The spelling was ok since almost all were entered using gracenote. Anyway it suddenly started working. without changing anything I could tell I asked again to get album artwork from the Advanced tab and it started downloading 400 album covers. whatever. So my problem wasn't answered but it is solved. thanks for the google image search idea. So I guess I'll mark it answered.

After the IOS7 updates, when we are viewing music videos on my phones I can no longer turn the phone horizontal to see a bigger viewing of the video. I can only see it widescreen in vertical mode which is much smaller. Now when you turn it sideways, it pops up album cover art and I hate that. Is there a way to fix that?
We are just users like you and don't know why Apple does what it does. This is not a place to "vent," it is a place to ask technical questions. As of now there is no way to change or modify the way these folders appear in Windows Explorer. You can provide feedback to Apple about this issue at this link: http://www.apple.com/feedback

IPhone 4S iOS 5.0.1 Album cover art STILL missing
The album cover art IS in my iTunes 100% but only a few of the album covers appear in my new iPhone 4S updated to 5.0.1 and re-booted several times.
HELP please as I USED TO use album cover art ti help select songs to enjoy.Sounds like memory leak - basically the code for an app or program is not getting the message that it needs to terminate its operation, so it continues to run in the background (even if you remove it from the multi-tasking tray when you double click the home button). This is probably preventing your iphone from entering its "idle state" or "sleep mode". This would result in your standby and usage time being almost identifical.

Screen saver - album cover art?
I just setup my Gen 3 ATV and I noticed while setting up my screen saver that I didn't have the option to use my album cover art for the saver like I was able to do with my GEN 1 ATV.
Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks!Just figured out how to do this...Go into Screen Saver and select "Floating (covers)" or "Cascade (covers)" and then your music cover art will become your screen saver on your GEN 3 ATV using your iTunes library.

IOS 5.1.1 my album cover art is mixed up?
After installing the latest iOS 5.1.1 in my iPhone 4S all the album cover art is mixed up when I add new albums. It seems to pick any random album cover, rather than syncing the correct one from iTunes.
How do I fix this, or is this a bug in 5.1.1 ?After some testing with an ipad pre 5.1 and an iphone and ipad at current patch level it appears this is a problem with the latest ios update. Hopefully they fix it soon.

I've been using iTunes for years. I've used it to manage the large CD collection that I had before the creaton of the iTunes store. My collection now contains CD's that were purchased after the store opened.
In earlier years, the cover artwork for my CD's for the most part was supplied by Apple. I also used All Music and Amazon in cases where Apple did not have what I needed.
I've just installed version 11.1.2 of iTunes. I've discovered - again - that many of the album artworks that I had before the uprade have disappeared. I suspect that is because the album is no longer available in the iTunes store. I can understand that - if the album is being purchased now. But why does Apple strip from iTunes the artwork that I had BEFORE the upgrade? That doesn't seem fair.
There is another issue that is a part of this topic. Earlier versions of iTunes had an option whereby I could search for album artwork through the iTunes software. That seems to have disappeared. Why? Must I now go through the laborious process of locating album cover art on my own, CD by CD, even though I had the art before the software upgrade?
This is really annoying. Over and above the unfairness of it all.When album art is downloaded, it is stored locally, The iTunes store has nothing to do with it after that. It will appear even if you disconnect from the Internet altogether.
Aside from that I have no idea why some artwork disappeared. -
No album cover art in Finder for mp3's? What a downgrade.
I have album cover art imbedded in ALL my mp3 files and they used to show up perfectly in Finder. Now, I see NOTHING. Cover art still shows in iTunes, but not Finder. Any fix for this?

I have no such problem with iTunes with a library of more than 30000 songs.
I used to be a Weekend DJ with many many Albums.
Which view in iTunes does not give you an Artwork.
One thing to note is the list view, will give you an Artwork only if there is more song than the size of the Artwork icon.
here is an example
I left only two song in the Hush Album to show that list view, wont give you the Artwork in this case.
but as you can see, the info of the selected song show the artwork.
in the finder, without Icon Preview checked, you wont see the artwork.

Why do you convert the song ?
if the original song is an aiff, wav or a movie, the artwork cannot be inserted inside the file, so converting it will result into a song without artwork.
Sometime you will see a file marked MPEG-3 but it is a video. Open it into Quicktime, export it as a audio file then put it in iTunes, and if the file is mp3 or mp4, AAC, then you can insert the Artwork.
I probably dont fully understand your problem, give me more info but I am using iTunes since the very first version and I never hard a problem with artwork.

Why does iTunes randomly change my album cover art?
For some reason (usually after I sync my iphone 5s to my laptop), iTunes (or the phone) will switch out random album cover art. Why is this happening? Is it a bug? It's driving me crazy!
Nobody can help???? Please -- this is a VERY BAD glitch/bug/whatever you want to call it...it is permanently deleting my music!

How do I turn off album cover art on my lockscreen??
I can't stand that when I am playing my music on a train or bus that when I go to unlock my phone the album cover art shows up all over my phone screen like so.
It's annoying. What if I am listening to Backstreet Boys and I happen to go for the unlock while sitting next to some beautiful girl I might ask on a date. Now I have a big picture of the Backstreet Boys on my phone screen and bam! she automatically judges me laughs on the inside and now I have ZERO chance of landing that date before she could even get a chance to know me. Not that I care what people think, but it could be a thing, you know? Anyone have any fixes for this?Go to Settings > General > Accessiblity and set the VoiceOver option to "off."

IPhone 4S, iOS 8.2 update, iTunes album cover art missing

I just updated my 64GB iPhone 4s to the new iOS 8.2, after reading online that it addressed issues with previous iOS 8 updates.
Everything on the phone seems to work fine as far as I've found, but the album cover art for almost every album isn't coming over.
I know this may sound insignificant, but it is the fastest way to look up music, especially when on the go.
I have all my album artwork included on iTunes on my laptop. Previous to this update, all album covers came over to iPhone.
I just did the update to 8.2 last night (March 9, 2015), and synced my iPhone with my laptop to update my music catalog.
First time it didn't bring the artwork over, so I re-synced and tried again. Our of the 474 albums currently on the devise, album artwork came over on 58 albums.
Has anyone else identified this issue? If so, were you able to find a solution?
Thank you.This has happened about 2 other times since updating to iOS 8.3. I have an iPhone 6 Plus (128 GB). I am able to retrieve the album artwork by removing the music from the device and then syncing with iTunes again. This is a hassle, though, as I have 12,000+ songs that I sync to the device. Album artwork hangs around for about 2 weeks and then mysteriously vanishes again. So I have finally given in and will wait until the next software update and then hope for the best with another remove/sync cycle after the update has been applied.

Urgh...wrong album cover art...how do I take it off
I have?a Zen Vision M, 30gb, and I have a problem removing unwanted cover art. I suppose it's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things...the songs play, and they're where their supposed to be. But I find this HELLA annoying
!!! Since I've transferred a great deal of my CD collection into it, I like to organize things (and search) by album. But since I also have a lot of random songs that I have downloaded from various places, and I don't want a whole bunch of incomplete "albums" to search through, I filed them into an "album" tagged "Miscellaneous."? So last night I'm?making new tags and reorganizing some files, and when I unplug my Zen from the computer, I go into my "Miscellaneous" and see that?ALL the songs now have the cover art?from ONE of the songs in that folder. What's even stranger is that that specific?cover art doesn't even show in Windows Media Player, so I have NO idea how it became attached with all my miscellaneous songs. To top it off, I transferred some CD's into my Zen who's cover art DID show, but it doesn't come up in my Zen. To that I say "whatever"... I'd like to have the cover art, but I can li've without it. But to have the WRONG cover art for?A LOT of my songs just makes me?incredibly aggrevated!? So what can I do to remove the unwanted cover art?
Oh, and I should point out that I got my Zen when it'sfirst came out, so I have like the oldest MediaSource Organizer that doesn't support cover art.I don't own a Vision M, but I know how my other players from Creative work. They use the ID3 tags in each track for artist, album art, etc. I use media monkey to tag all the tracks on my computer before I transfer them to the player. Here's the bad news. In my experience, you will have to remove the tracks from the player and throw them back on once they are tagged properly. I know of no way to change the tags on the players themselves. Eric

ITunes is deleting my album cover art + songs -- please help!

I am running Windows 7 and iTunes v. 9.2.0.61. Just recently, from Grid view, iTunes seems to be deleting cover art as well as songs. It seems to be chance when it happens, but when it does happen, it is always this way:
- From Grid view (album thumbnails), I double click on an album thumbnail, and the album art image disappears. I CANNOT re-add the art to that particular album after that, either, even manually.
- The album folder opens up after the double-click, and then when I double click a song to play it, it starts playing, but then I notice it has disappeared from the tracklist. I cannot select it again -- it is GONE. I checked to see if in fact the song is deleted not only from iTunes, but from my C: drive storage location, and it is GONE. DELETED for GOOD.
What is going on here? This is very frustrating, and I wonder if anyone else has experienced the same thing. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!Nobody can help???? Please -- this is a VERY BAD glitch/bug/whatever you want to call it...it is permanently deleting my music!
