Lost all contacts and dial pad on iphone 3gs after update
Hi, please can someone help, ive lost all contacts and the abillity to add , also my dial pad wont work, all after update , i cant even re ad contacts through my messages.
Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service. For some reason, are you not using the device as designed?
As for other issues... basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?

What does "I caught my phone 4" mean?
All contacts, calendars, photos etc should be on your computer as the iphone is designed to be synced to your computer.
Just sync them to your new iphone.

Our exchange server crashed and we lost all contact and calendar data. We found an app to get the contacts off of people's phone to import but can't find the same for calendar. How do I get my calendar info off my phone and in to new exchange server?
You'd have to think through this, but it seems like if you are using Outlook, and the items vanished from the Outlook client as well as the server,that you could re-populate Outlook using iTunes.

So sorry to hear she has lost all her contacts like that. Sounds like you are saying the device completed a factory reset on it's own. Is that right? I'm afraid unless the contacts and media were backed up somewhere prior to this happening they would be gone. Let's prevent that from occurring in the future and protect your contacts and media! Hi, i just want to know if theres any way to just stop the erase all data and settings for my iphone 3gs it has been 4 hours and it still havent finished yet, still showing the black screen with an apple icon. Im getting so frustrated, is there any way to just stop the process and roll back the changes made? Would it do any harm if i press on my home key and power button the same time? Thanks!
Something has gone wrong, on an iPhone 3Gs the erase all operation should be instantaneous. Disconnect your phone & force it into recovery mode:
Turn your phone off. Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. In your case, select "new". -
