Lost all links to my playlists

While transferring songs from iTunes to a new, second iPod, all my playlists in iTunes were voided (or something); that is, all the songs are in my "Music" folder, but the playlists no longer have any songs attached. What did I do? What can I do to recover them? When I connected my older iPod to try to go back to iTunes with the playlists, those playlists got wiped out, too.
Thanks for any help.

  • I have an iPod Classic 5th Gen.  After 1 month I've lost all my music and playlist files.  The only files left are music I have purchased from iTunes.  How do I restore my music library to my iPod?

I have an iPod Classic 5th Generation.  I have not used it for about one month.  When I turned it on, I had lost all my music and playlist files.  The only thing left on the iPod was the music and audio books I have purchased from iTunes store.  I tried to delete everything on the ipod by sliding the hold button and then pressing the center button and the menu and I saw the apple logo on the screen but the iPod wouldn't reboot.  Any suggestions as to how I can delete everything on the iPod and then plug it into my computer to restore my music library?  I am using a Windows 7 operating system.

Does both your Windows and Macbook iTunes have the same library of songs?
if it  does then, much easier to proceed, else try to load the Macbook with the same library as Windows.
Note that only one of the Macbook USB port is good for iPod Classic, the other is too slow and may cause timeout, and I would suggest disconnect all other USB devices, while you Restore or Sync the iPod Classic.
Connect the iPod to the Mac, (if iTunes launch, please close it back.)
Use Disk Utility -> select the iPod Device->First Aid->Repair (use option FAT32)
After the Repair complete, eject the iPod.
    Connect back to the Mac
When iTunes launch, Restore the iPod when Prompted, (use FAT32)
    Sync your library.
    Good Luck!

  • Changed HDD in NAS Drive, lost all links

    Hello world,
I keep all photos in separate directory structure (16.000 photos in 140 directories), and have the mediathek on the local drive.
Now I have changed the HDDs in my NAS drive (dLink DNS 323, connection via smb), and restored all folders from a backup. In the finder I can see all photos (randomly tested).
Although the share-name and the user-ID are set up the same as before, Aperture lost the connection to all photos.
I am not going to believe that I have to refresh the links to every single photo...
    Any idea anyone?
    Greetings from Germany

    Hello,
usually using "Reconnect All" should suffice to reconnect all files, if you restored your library from a backup.
But I am not quite sure, how you restored your library - do I understand this correctly:
Your Aperture Library (Mediathek in german) is on the system drive?
Your referenced master image files / original image files are on a NAS drive?
You had to replace the drives in the NAS and restored from backup?
Then your estored files are no longer identical to the files Aperture is referencing, and you will have to reconnect.
In the long term the NAS setup might be risky; Apple recommends to keep the Aperture library on a local volume, MacOS X extended formatted - your NAS is neither local nor MacOS X extended, see this Support Article:
Aperture: Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library:
          http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3252
    To reconnect your images quickly:
Make sure your NAS is properly mounted.
Create a smart album containing all referenced images:
File > New > Smart Album
Add rule: File status is referenced  (or offline, or missing)
Select all images in the smart album.
From Aperture's  main menu bar select:   File > Locate referenced files
in the "Referenced Files" panel you see two panes:
In the upper pane select the first image with a missing original (master) image file.
In the lower pane point the File chooser to the location of the master on your NAS.
Now the "Reconnect" buttons should appear. Press "Reconnect All". If you are lucky, this will reconnect all missing original files at once.
Good Luck, und "Hummel Hummel" aus Hamburg von der Waterkant!

  • Moved all pics, lost all links

So I bought the new 27" iMac.  I was keeping all my photos on an external drive but decided to use that for back up and move all the pics onto the new iMac's 3TB fusion drive. I made the move outside of Lightroom. Of course, when I did that, I botched up all the links.
Lightroom 4.3 now shows thumbnails of all my photos, none of my folders in the catalog window, all of my saved collections.  What's the most efficient way of getting LR to link my catalog to my newly-located (internal) photos file?
    Thanks, John

The issue is that on the Macintosh HD drive, the parent folder "Pictures" appears twice in the hierarchy. Assuming that's the one you first tried to relink, which of the two "Pictures" folders did you try to link to?
I'm guessing that when you did the move, you placed the "Pictures" folder structure under "All Photos files", but when you tried to relink did you select the "Pictures" folder that sits ABOVE "All Photos files"?
Because of this slight complication, you might be better advised trying to relink the five folders below "Pictures", i.e. "Family, Friends, Misc Sets, True Misc, Vacations"....you'll probably get the "Merge" message for "Family" as that now appears on the Mac HD drive, but that should be OK to accept.....that's one of the problems if you start at the sub-folder level, you should always work top down.

  • After the latest update of ios version, i lost all my musics an playlists on itunes. Can I recover them trought the Iphone?

After the itunes made the last update of IOS version, all the musics I had and the playlists I created, dissapeared from the itunes.
Can i recover them from the Iphone?

Did you mean update to iTunes?
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • Lost all links, connections and entire project.

Been working on SP4 for quite a while with no issues ever. But this latest happening is driving me MAAAD!!!!
I've updated to from 4.0 to 4.2.1 and now the new version reads the project fine but when it 'opens' the project nothing shows up. Not the tool windows, menu or viewer windows, templates windows... nothing at all.
All items on the menu bar are greyed out, so I can't select any function.
However, the application works fine when I start a new project.
I'm working on a dual 2.0 Ghz G5 and never ever had a glitch.
I've reinstalled the older SP4 version 2.0 in the hope that the project would come back, but I had no luck. It reads it fine but when it opens the same thing happens with nothing working and all commands in the menu bar greyed out.
I'd be most appreciative if someone can help me out recover a lot of hours of work.
    Thanx

    Thanks for your reply.
    Unfortunatelly your suggestion hasn't worked.
I started again with this dual layer dvd and half way through i've lost the whole project again!
What seems to be happening is that the project file gets corrupted at some stage when I close the program. After I've closed the program a window telling me that the DVDSP closed unexpectedly pops up, it also asks me whether I want to send a report or not.
Next time I try to open the project it loads up fine but nothing shows up.
However when I open DVDSP clicking on the program icon, it opens fine with all its windows into place. When I try to open the project file from within the app, the same situation appears.
I've tried to open the file both on a G5 and on a MacBook to the exact same result in both situations.
If anyone has a witty suggestion I'll be more than happy to try it out.

  • After upgrading to the most recent version of iTunes, for the second time now, I have completely lost all of my playlists and some of my music

I have upgraded to the current version of iTunes 12.0.1.26
I am using Windows 7 Premium
I have lost all of my previous playlists and some of my music
This is the second time this has happened when advised of an updated version.
How can I get all my music and playlists back without having to redo them again?

    Hello richmondhill49,
The article linked below details a number of steps that may help restore your content and playlists to iTunes.

  • If my iphone, ipad, MAC and macbook pro are all linked, and then I upgrade only my phone to iOS 7.0, does that have an effect on my calendar, etc.  It doesn't seem to be showing the same data it was before the update.  Lost lot of info from calendar.

If my iphone, ipad, MAC and macbook pro are all linked, and then I upgrade only my ipone to IOS 7.0, does that have an effect on the linking to my other MAC products.  It seems my calendar has lost a lot of information since the upgrade.

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.
searching the internet i found a link to upgrtade to 10.7
The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.
    Regards.

  • Updated to Itunes 10 and lost all of my playlists

Can someone tell me how to get my playlists back? I updated a few days ago to Itunes 10 and have lost all of my playlists etc. Is it possible to dump my IPOD library into Itunes?

    Hi,
I had the same problem and indeed in the appliactions I found imovie 9.0.9.
But to make sure all goes well this time, please let me know the next steps.
I opened the imovie 9.0.9.  (1.2GB) and the previous imove appeared. In the updated version, I can now import
    imovie 9.0.0 zip archive (7.9 MB2).
Is this the solution ? And do I have to take further steps to amke sure everything is working ?
Thanks for coming back to me.

  • I synced my ipod nano to my library and i lost all of my playlists. Is there a way I can get them back?

I have a ipod nano 5th generation and I just fully synced it with my library. I lost all of the playlists I had on my ipod. I just had those playlists on my ipod and not in my itunes library. I also lost some of my music as well. Is there a way to get all of this back or undo it?

Either call Apple customer services and see  if they can replace your original discs,
or buy a copy of iLife '09 or '11 {'11 doesn't include iWeb, I understand} from Amazon MP (etc),
    or buy them individually from the App Store {iWeb will not be available on the App Store and nor will iDVD}
If you want the retail disc I'd hurry - Apple no longer sell iLife on disc, and prices are starting to rise on Amazon already.

  • I lost all my playlists when downloading the new itunes. Anyway to get them back?

I lost all my playlists when downloading the new itunes. Besides honestly wanting to cry, is there anyway to get them back without making them all AGAIN? And thanks so much, stupid Apple. Am looking for a new MP3 player to take your stupid ipod player's place. I used to love my ipod...now everytime I turn around, apple has screwed with something that causes ME time and trouble.

    Hello!
Do you have a Mac computer with Time Machine backups?

  • Lost all my playlists and some music - how to restore?

I'm running itunes on XP and when I booted iTunes today, all my playlists were missing and lots of music.
I don't know of any major crashes or problems with my maching, but the music is gone from iTunes. I went to "mycomputer" and actually found all the tunes, but iTunes cannot find them, and of course, I lost all the playlists. (I've got multiple playlists for each family member and 2 bands in which I play....)
Any ideas on how to restore the playlists and tunes? Why won't iTunes find the music that is actually in the iTunes music folder? I know i could probably drag all the tunes into iTunes again, and then make new playlists but it would take a lot of organizing......grrr
Also, I have almost everything saved on my iPod. Is there some way i can transfer it all back to iTunes from my iPod?
    thank you,

  • I lost all my unpinned 30 tabs and could not restore it, when Adobe update opened a link by firefox, which was not running in the background.

I lost all my unpinned 30 tabs and could not restore it, when Adobe update opened a link by firefox, which was not running in the background.
I guess what I have experienced might be a special case of 'Restore previous sessions'. The actual situation was that after I rebooted my laptop, Adobe update jumped out indicating an update being finished successfully. After I clicked on the 'close' button of the Adobe window, it automatically started firefox and linked to its website. But I did not find the 'Restore previous sessions' page this time. Then I restarted firefox, this time there was a start page with 'Restore previous sessions'. However, sadly enough, it is only restored my pinned pages plus the Adobe website. Actually, I am using 'bookmark all tabs' from time to time to secure opened tabs, but this time I did not expect such an incident. I would suggest to improve the 'Restore previous sessions' with multiple time tags and appear in all cases including my reported case here, after updating firefox, crashes etc. I like firefox in most occasions, therefore believe and hope it becomes better and more robust. Thank you very much!

    Hi,
Please see the following support request: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2628065
I think the best option would be to leave feedback here to let the relevant development team know about the problem you have had: https://input.mozilla.org/en-GB/feedback
Also you could try the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/ Session Manager] add-on which gives more control over how sessions are restored.
    I hope that helps
