Lost all my music on my iPod touch. Now I can't reload it from my computer because it states that it is in the cloud. How do I get my music back on my iPod touch so I can listen when I'm out of wifi range.
I was trying to fix the "ghost" songs on my ipod touch 4th generation today. Somehow I ended up deleting all my songs from the touch. Now when I try to get them back from my computer it states that they have to be downloaded from the icloud first. Don't know how to do this or why I can't just drag and drop the music from the computer back onto my ipod touch.

If I have a large amount of music/movie content in the cloud, how do I get it onto my iPad/iPhone so I can hear/see it when I dont have access to WiFi?
If you go into the Purchased tab in the iTunes store apps on your iPad and iPhone then you might be able to redownload them from there - they should then be accessible in the Music / Videos app without you needing to be be online.

You should have a backup but if not you will need to transfer the contents before you sync or it will be erased.

It sounds like you may have a 2nd generation iPod. If so, it can not be upgraded beyond 4.2.1. The Apps you are trying to load are compatible with a higher version of the iOS.

HOW DO I GET MY SONGS BACK ON MY IPOD???
I accidentally removed my 4th Gen photo ipod from my mac without properly unmounting it, and it went into "disk mode". It would n't allow me to get out of this mode, and itunes nor the finder would see the ipod when it was connected.
Oddly enuff, prosoft engineering's Data Rescue II was able to see it.
I used data rescue II to back up all the data on it. I was successful in this. then i restored the iPod to factory settings (erased it).
here's the problem: data rescue created 2 folders on the volume i recovered to:
A "CBR" folder, which contains and "Audio" folder, "Documents" folder, "Images" folder, etc... The Audio folder has more folders in it, which are titled by the type of files they contain. For instance, AIFF, MP3, m4a, WAV, respectively. All my music is within these files according to their file type. The names of teh files are file00001.aif or .mp3 or whatever, but when imported into itunes, the proper song title appears... this is good.
the second folder is titled "iPod", and it contains, the generally hidden files DesktopDB, DesktopDF, Finder, ReadMe, and System.
My question, is there a way to use these folders (CBR and iPod) to get my songs back into my ipod (with playlists)? I realize that I can import the folders into iTunes and everything would be good, but I have 2 macs and I manually manage playlists and songs, so the source of the songs that were on my ipod came from 1 mac or the other. The 2 macs each have their own playlists that I don't want to destroy... I need to simply get the backed up songs back onto the ipod, without having to go thru iTunes. That woudl be ideal.

When you say "backed up in the cloud" do you mean you backed up your old phone to iCloud, or do you mean photo stream?

You should be transferring all apps purchased on the ipod to your computer regularly, especially before any update.
If you have failed to do this, then do so now. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You then sync them to the ipod from your computer. -

we had to reset my daughters Ipod touch and if I go into the icloud on the device and then into manage storage for the device, I can see all of her games (and they all have 'on' next to them) but I cannot seem to figure out how to get them to re-download to the ipod....anyone know????
If you want to restore to your iCloud backup, this has to be done during the initial device setup. To do this you have to first erase your iPod. If you have any data on your iPod that is not in the backup that you want to save (such as more recent photos, you'll have to do that first. When you're done, go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. Then go back through the setup screens on your iPod, and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup (see image below) and choose your backup to restore to. Be sure your iPod is connected to wifi and your charger ans this will take some time to complete. It will first restore your data and settings, then at then end will redownload your apps.

All you can do is restore from backup if yu have one. If you backed up to iTunes make sure that autosyncing is turned off. Otherwise when you connect the iPod to the computer the backup with you data might be overwritten. To turn off go to iTunes>Preferences>Devicesand check the box that says "Prevent iPods...".

My partner and I travel a lot in our motor home and don't always have access to the cloud, otherwise I wouldn't really care. However, we have over 200 movies purchased, as well as television shows that we watch while on the road. A note: I do have all of my music on my iPod Classic, is there a way to transfer it from her to my external HDD?
I don't know if it was coincidence, but it all happened when I did the iTunes Match...
