Lost contacts after ios5 update

I have lost all of my contacts after the ios5 update. for instance if i dail the number there name will pop up but when i go to contacts there is nothing there! please help!

You need to turn off synching through the iCloud and synch through iTunes to your Outlook of Address Book however this will still leave you with linked/duplicate contact cards in your phone and your favorites contacts in the phone as well as all caller id photos etc. will be linked to the old contacts. In order to get rid of those contacts what I did was added the simple change to the contacts I synched from the computer (I added an exclamation point to the notes sections). Then synch to your iPhone through iTunes not through the iCloud, then search your iPhone for the first contact name you have in your list. You will see this will bring up 2 contacts for the same person. Select either contact then hit the back button. You will then be in the contact list but you will see in this work around there will be 2 contacts listed for everyone. Select the contact card and then delete it that does not have the added change so you can tell what is new and old. This will leave you with the new contact cards and remove the corrupted/lost contacts. You will lastly need to turn on the iCloud synch and either leave or remove those changes you made (like my exclamation points) from your new contacts. This is a pain in the tail but the only way I was able to completely fix the issue.

I lost my pictures (still on computer though), my music, and my contacts after I updated to ios5. I'd like to know if there is a way to get them back on my phone. I had a lot of music that I had purchased.

All you should have to do is to make sure Music is synced (Music tab in iTunes).
While yu are at it, if you have WiFi at home, check the Sync from Wifi box on the Summary iTunes page and then plug in your iPhone and sync.

During the new update I had a ton of problems. My phone wouldn't back up it kept erroring. I finally got that to work. Then my phone was frozen. It kept turning on and shutting off. When it came back on it froze on the lock screen. The auto lock didnt even kick in. So I had to reset my phone but holding the home button and the sleep button up top. I then sync'ed my phone again. I got everything back but all my saved text messages. Are these saved texts gone forever?

Lost music after iOS5 update.

All of my music is gone from my iTunes account and iPhone 4 after updating to iOS5. I didn't lose contacts, pictures, apps or anything else, just music. Any suggestions on how to get it back or is it lost forever?

Music is not included in the backup. Your music and other iTunes media should be in your iTunes library and syncing with iTunes should restore it to the phone. Music purchased from the iTunes store can be redownloaded for free as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.

How to sync contacts after ios5 update

i just updated my iPad2 and iPod Touch 4 to iOS5. I was going to move to iCloud but got a warning that I should first make sure one of these devices has an up to date Calendars and Contacts before I do that. I checked both devices and noticed that my Contacts are not up to date on either device. I tried syncing them in iTunes but it says Syncing has been disabled on this computer. Then it asks me if I want to enable it and I click YES. Then it tells me Syncing cannot be enabled on this computer.
When I go to System Preferences, MobileMe, I click on Sync and get a message "Sync Unavailable An unknown error occurred while performing a sync operation. Please check your account and network settings, then try again." That doesn't tell me much since my Network settings haven't changed.
Now I seem to be stuck.

To clarify, iPhone Contacts disappeared after the iOS 5.0.1 update, even though I DON'T use MobileMe or iCloud; I sync with iTunes. Follow the instructions in TS2481 but skip the MobileMe section. Instead, scroll down to "For issues syncing contacts and contact groups in Address Book" and expand the text.

i have nokia 6300 and i have recently updated the software. Unfortunately i could make a back up the data. i have lost now all my contacts in the phone memory. i need them desparately. Is there any possibility via which i can recover my contacts.

Lost emails after iOS5 update

My update to iOS5 went ok with the exception that I lost around 90% of my emails on my iPod touch. The only emails still on my touch are from within the past week or so.
Anyone else experience this? Is there any way to get them back on my iPod?

When I did the update, it appeared to do a full restore at that time (took a few hours), so would restoring again give any different result?

Lost Contacts After Firmware Update

Hi,
I'm after a bit of help if anyone has any advice. I flashed my N900 this weekend with the latest firmware update (it was Vodofone specific so had to flash it to the latest UK version). I restored the backup after completing the firmware update and everything was great. Hooked it up to PC Suite, ran the sync and it matched all 300 contacts.
Last night I tried to edit a contact detail and it kept coming up with an "internal error" message. I managed to do it by chaging the detail on my PC and syncing the contacts. But today, when I looked for a contact my whole contacts list is gone! It's wierd because my recent call history still shown names, but my contacts list is empty. I synced my phone when I got home from work, but Nokia PC Sync completes the sync but I still don't see the contacts on my phone. All the contacts are on the PC still.
How can I fix this? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

No, none were on the sim card. I ran the backup before the firmware flash and then restored after the flash. That was fine for a couple of days, but now I have no contacts showing in my contacts list.
When connected to PC Suite I can see all of the contacts from the PC, but when I look on the phone the list is empty. This is why the sync isn't doing anything because the PC can still see all of the contacts.

This happened to me. It's because the sync Contacts box becomes unchecked in the sync settings in iTunes. Open iTunes, find your phone in the left-hand column, click on Info (top), check the Sync Contacts box, then scroll down and click 'Apply' or 'Sync' bottom left. Your contacts will be restored from your computer to your iPhone.

The backup is seperate from syncing contacts.
With an iCloud account with contacts turned on for over the air syncing with the account settings on your iPhone, contacts are synced over the air automatically as long as your iPhone has an internet connection via wi-fi or the cellular network.
With an iCloud account you can have your iPhone backed up wirelessly when your iPhone is connected to a wi-fi network for internet access which will be done automatically when your iPhone is connected to a power source or this can be done manually. Or you can have your iPhone backed up automatically when syncing your iPhone with iTunes when connected to your computer USB as has always been available, which is done as the first step during the iTunes sync process. This is determined with your iPhone's backup settings with an iCloud account which is selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

Music will not play after ios5 update, it still appears there but will not play...if I select a song, it jumps to another song but will not play anything. Also, if I try to play any of the files on the phone from iTunes they won't play either...help!!

After ios5 update, iCal week view Oct 2-8 has 2 Saturdays?

Is anyone else having problems with iCal week view on iPad after ios5 update?
Two major changes have occurred...
1. Week view used to start on Monday, now Sunday (and can't change it back).
2. If you look at the week October 2-8, 2011 there are 2 Saturdays and no Friday or following Saturday...
Any ideas? Is this a wait for ios5.1 issue?

If you are using a Mac, go to Settings>Software Update ... check for any updates, and update all.
Chances are you are not using iTunes 10.5, which is required to sync iOS 5.
If youare using a PC, suggest you uninstall your iTunes, download fresh iTunes 10.5 from Apple.com/itunes and install it.

\Based on other forum users' posts, it seems like all you need to do is Restore the phone from your latest backup, and that should "refresh" your phone's appraisal of its data storage.
