Lost Phone and how to suspend PIN

My friend just lost her phone and her Service provider said they can't do anything to help.
Aren't they supposed to be able to Disable/Suspend the PIN of the lost device so that the "new owner"
can't even log onto BB network?
Now I am actually receiving BBM messages from the "new owner" asking me who I am.
Now my friend is wondering how she can compel her Provider into blocking PIN from BB servers so that the "new owner" can't access sensitive info she kept on phone.

I lost my BlackBerry 9700 Bold on 6 June 2012 or it was stolen - not sure. Anyway I got  my SIM Card swapped with my carrier but they could not blacklist my IMEI because I did not purchase my handset in South Africa but at a duty free shop at the airport. The carrier says that the South African system does not carry that range of numbers. Is there a way someone somewhere can block the PIN and IMEI so that it cannot be used., I know that whoever has the phone now has it on and it is live as we can ping my PIN number and it is active on BBM. Any assistance will be appreciated. I am already looking into acquiring a new handset but I want to put a damper on who found it as they could have returned it by calling a number on the contact list to find out who is the owner of this phone.

Log into Google Play from a computer. You can install Plan B from your computer as long as your phone is on, receiving a signal and the battery hasn't died.
If the phone is off, the battery has died since you lost it, the phone is not getting a signal, or the phone is in airplane mode, nothing will be able to help you track it.

Hi This is Rezwan from Bangladesh. I requests to my aunty who lives in Virginia to buy an iphone 5s country unlocked (Without Contract) for me and send to Bangladesh. Now i want to know the total costing of iphone 5s country unlocked phone and how can she send it to Bangladesh?

Note: When you buy an iPhone from another country, you do not have warranty in your country of residence. Any warranty and sevices are only valid in country of purchase.
For prices, ask your aunty or go online yourself.

Dcoyle, We definitely know the importance of understanding options when it comes to ringback tones on your device. I'm truly sorry to learn that you've been experiencing distorted sound. Is this something that just started recently? Which device do you currently have with us? We'll look into this for you, indeed.

  • Why do i have so much other on my phone and how do i get rid of it

why do i have so much other on my phone and how do i get rid of it

Other is usually around 1 GB...
A  ' Large Other ' usually indicates Corrupt Data...
First Try a Restore from Backup... But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup... Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

Hard to know, but reporting it to the police is usually a required step from your insurance carrier if you plan on filing a claim.  Here's Apple's support article on what to do: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5668.

  • Lost phones and monthly access charges

I have just realized that for the past 12 months I have been paying monthly access fees for a phone reported lost and had service suspended. After reporting the phone lost while on vacation, my husband bought another phone and signed up for service, separate from the Family Share Plan the lost phone had been part of. Today, while at the office, going over monthly expenses with a new practice manager, we realized that there was a monthly charge for the suspended number. When I called to ask about a refund, I was told by a representative and a supervisor, that because I had not indicated I wanted the service suspended and NOT billed, the billing was my responsibility. I would not be able to receive a full refund.
While the dollar amount is less than $200.00, I found it odd that the responsibility was mine to indicate after 30 days, that I did NOT want to be billed for a lost phone.  So the lesson is, BUYER BEWARE, and just because you report your phone lost and have service suspended, you may not be entirely free of charges, even with a new phone and contract.

I can certainly understand your frustration. When you sign up for service with VZW, you enter into a contract. Most likely 2 years. If you do not fulfill 24 months of that contract, then you will be charged an early termination fee. This is the same for any business. If you suspend WITHOUT BILLING, meaning months go by where you do not pay a monthly access charge, then your contract end date will extend. This is in order to fulfill the 24 months of that contract. You aren't obligated per that contract to pay more than 24 months. Your service continues after those 24 months (which are typically consecuative but in situations where there is a suspense without billing, there could be a gap) and after that contract you are able to cancel without any penalty or continue service month to month, or enter into a new contract.
You can suspend indefinitely when you suspend WITH billing. There are time limits and restrictions for suspend WITHOUT billing. This is for your protection. Again, you would never get out of a contract if you could just suspend that line and not pay anything!!! In your situation, you should be thankful that you have been paying.
Liken it to paying for a hotel. At 2:00 AM you cant go to the desk and say that you want to leave and not have to pay for the rest. You pay for the WHOLE night!! ...well most respectable hotels anyway...
Service is great, but most people expect every company to bend their rules to suit self. Where is individual responsibility. You can't always tell a company what you want to happen. There are guidelines in place for a reason. Same reason I can't go to a restaurant and order a piece of rare chicken! If every customer got their own "utopian version" of customer service (i.e. selfish) it wouldn't be fair to me or the other customers!!!

  • Can you please help me figure out my i phone and how to use the features

i need some help on figuring out my phone can you please help me figure out how to use my i phone and the blue tooth features to listen to music or how can a friend or a relative send me songs for me to listen to.....

To listen to music with a headset or earbuds via bluetooth requires a bluetooth stereo headset.
File transfer via bluetooth is not supported. A friend or relative can purchase music for you via the iTunes music store with an iTunes store gift card or by sending you the music gift via email from iTunes.

  • HT201272 How do I get some of my music that I've already purchased on my phone, and how do I get some songs off my phone?

I have a few songs that I've bought and they are not on my phone, and I also have a few songs that have gone gone on there twice. How do I get the music on that I've already bought and how do I get rid of some of the music that's on there more then once

It's in recovery mode. There is nothing left on the phone. You have no choice but to restore it.  Have you not been backing it up on a regular basis?

  • Moving phone and number to suspended line.

I have a plan with 3 phones on it.  One line is suspended and another is at the end of the contract length.  Can I move the phone and number from the finished contract over to the suspended line so that the suspended line contract can be finished out

No, the contract is attatched to the actual number itself... It CAN be done, but at great lengths. you would need to transfer the out of contract number out of verizon wireless, then proceed to replace the in contract number with that one though the port center. Not sure if it's worth all of this trouble for you to jump through all of these hoops...

  • HT201365 How do I unlock the activation code from icloud if I find my lost phone and I don't remember the passcode or never set one?

I forgot the passcode on my phone. Can I unlock it remotely, ie. via iCloud?

No, not if you didn't lock it by placing it in lost mode.

  • IPhone 4 cannot send/recieve calls/texts but is still able to connect to the internet. What is wrong with the phone and how do I fix it?

A friend of mine has an iPhone4 (not 4s) and she has been dropping it when she was drunk. She also lost it for nearly a week and it got handed back to her, luckily. She blocked the phone after she lost it so that other's couldn't use her contract (which is paid by her father). When she received the phone back, she asked O2 to unblock it an they gave her a new sim card and asked her to wait 24 hours. It started working again, for about a day, where she could receive and send texts/calls and Internet - the lot! But after that day, she can no longer get any signal on her phone to send or receive calls or texts. We have tried putting the sim card in another phone to see if that was the problem, but it worked fine with full signal, so we're guessing that O2 aren't the problem. I'm guessing that it is the phone but I'm not sure whether it's a hardware issue or software. We've recently installed the new iOS5 today and it still doesn't work correctly. Do you think that some hardware needs to be replaced? I was wondering if anyone knew if the phone signal and 3G signal run on the same antena or different ones in the 4S?
Thank you for your time and help in advance. Any help/knowledge will be much appreatiated.

oh my god, i can't believe i am having the exact same situation as yours. i lost my phone for about 2 weeks and got it back. when it was lost I asked O2 to block it and later I asked them to unblock it after I got my phone back. My internet seems to be working fine, but I cant receive or make calls. I went to apple store to tell them about that, they did a factory setting, but still can't get it working and later told me that its not the phone's fault but O2's fault because I could see the O2 on top, with no any bars and she assumed that i would not have been able to see the O2 written on top if it wasn't O2 fault. I told them that I can use the internet from O2 however, but in reply she asked me to show the internet (i still wonder what she meant by that), I tried to explain that the internet is from my data plan, but no... she insisted me on showing the internet, i wonder what exactly did she wanted to prove by that. Or maybe she was in a hurry to get home, because it was almost at the end of the day. Anyway I have changed my sim and it seems to be working fine on another phone, but its the same problem in my iphone 4. I haven't been able to use my phone for more than a month now and its really frustating. I have booked another appointment with apple day after tomorrow, just hoping for the best now

  • HT204053 lost phone and information

how can i recover my info if my phone was stolen, and I didnt back up my information with icloud

If you don't have a backup, either on your computer or in iCloud, there is no way to recover your data.

  • Lost phone and icloud

Hi, I lost my iphone yesterday but know I had an icloud account because it kept telling me it was nearly full. However when I access icloud on my pc, I can't see anything saved. How can I access the photos/notes/contacts etc that icloud had uploaded (if that's what the icloud actually does. I've never been great at wokring out apple products). Could someone help?

If you were syncing contacts, calendars, mail, notes, reminders via iCloud they will be available to view/edit at http://www.icloud.com/ and when you setup the same iCloud account on another iOS device, all that information will magically re-appear.
If you had the iCloud Backup function turned on, you can restore your new device from the iCloud backup, and it will end up exactly as the old device was, including photos, apps etc.
