Lost Purchased Songs (Couldn't Find Solution in FAQ)

Very shortly after downloading a song iTunes crashed (with that error message that asks if you'd like to send an error report). I opened up iTunes again and my song was gone. The money credit I used to purchase the song was gone too. I couldn't find the song in my library either. I tried to download it again and it said I already downloaded it, so it must be there somewhere. Can anyone help me?

First, make sure that the track isn't on your system somewhere. Take a look here for some tips on how to look for it. If you can't find it, follow the steps under "I purchased music that didn't download." on this web page.
Good luck.

Sync them from a computer, or use these instructions to redownload them through the iCloud if doing so is free in your country.

  • Upgrade iTunes, lost purchased songs

Recently, I upgraded iTunes (10.1.1.4). The first sync after upgrading, I was prompted to replace the library(?) on the phone. The old library(?) was backed up before the upgraded library was installed. But now, all my purchased songs are gone. I've searched my computer, but no luck. I've never lost files on my computer.
    -Could they be hidden?

Possibly, but an itunes update has never deleted my music or purchases, and it's not supposed to.
They might also be in the itunes library, but just not listed in the "Purchased" playlists.
Try this, get the copy of your itunes database file from before the upgrade. iTunes puts it in a folder named Previous iTunes Libraries. Follow these steps but in #7, copy & paste that file instead of dragging it.

  • Canceled AOL - lost purchased songs

I used my aol account credentials when I first started purchasing songs through the iTunes store. Eventually canceled the AOL account and established a new iTunes account. The songs I purchased through AOL are no longer accessible to me on my PC! Not authorized. My old AOL credentials no longer work because the AOL account does not exist. How can I gain access to the songs I paid for?

  • Lost purchased songs after sync.

I just synced my ipod touch to iTunes on my computer to update my playlists and my library. I haven't been on iTunes on my computer for almost a year, due to before my computer has had constant problems after installing iTunes, and I would then have to uninstall the program. Recently I've wanted to update my playlists on my iPod and update my library, so I downloaded iTunes, signed in, authorized the computer, and synced like I did before, which was awhile ago. My iPods battery was low when I first synced, so I left it hooked up to my computer and went to do other things while it charged. Now I'm back, and my iPod is a complete disaster. *_Now I cannot find about 100 songs that were on my iPod before I even hooked it up to the computer in my iTunes library, on my computer, or even on my iPod, along with random songs' cover art now messed up!_* I've been looking through all of Apple's support solutions and have not found anything that could help me. The songs that are missing I've purchased within the past 2 months. *_If it helps, 6 or 7 songs that I've purchased in the last week though are still on my iPod and in my iTunes library, with their cover art also messed up._* I don't really understand how my iPod could have everything fine before syncing, then have around 100$ at the least of songs completely missing and nowhere to be found, along with the cover art messed up! Please if anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate. Thank you.

When you sync your iPod for the first time (at least with a new iTunes on the computer, you should stick around and customize your ipod options. Does the songs you purshed show up in iTunes. To fix the album artwork problem see if the songs with the bad album artwork has the right album name. If so goto the menu bar: store>get album artwork. What does it look like? Also if the iPod artwork is messed up after that just reset after you sync.

  • Lost purchased songs

Today when I was syncing my iPod and downloading the new software on my iPod touch 2nd generation. I looked at my music on it, I had lost all of the music that I had bought on my iPod. What do I do to get it back. It was a lot and I want those songs back

Ok, so to be clear you have purchased some number of songs from the iTunes Store to your Touch and this was the first time you connected to the computer to sync since you purchased them. In iTunes were you logged into the same iTunes account that you used to purchase the songs on your iPod Touch. If not, this is why you're songs are gone.
The police of the iTunes Store is music can only be downloaded once and then it is your responsibility to back them up. You can email the iTunes Store, tell them what happened, and ask to download the songs again. Some say they will allow you to do so. Once. So back them up this time and be careful when syncing.

  • Locating lost original files, I lost purchased songs

Locating lost original files. I can no longer listen to several songs I purchased. I get a message that the "original file cannot be located." What to do?
    Thank you,
    Hunter

If the upgrade to Vista somehow erased the files, you'll need to restore them from your backup or, if a feature of the country you're in, download the content again from the iTunes Store. See:

Note that movies can be re-downloaded only in the US as of right now, and then not all movie studios have granted that license.
    Regards.

  • I've Completely Lost Purchased Songs?

I've completely lost some puchased songs from my ipod. I tried going through the store to re download them but it seems even the fact that I purchased them in the first place is lost. The store both through the ipod and itunes want to charge me again to download. them. Is there a way to fix this?

Are you signed into the same account that previous purchased the songs?
When on a computer in iTunes sign into your account and look at your Purchase History to verify that you did purchased those songs with that account.
    If problems contact iTunes

  • Reclaiming lost purchased songs

My computer crashed and I know that I don't have to pay for songs that I had purchased before it crashed, but how do I get those songs????

Easy...the OP. If you buy the CD and keep it you can easily reload the music on the computer. If you buy a CD and give it to someone else you do not have the right to copy if first and keep the music. She may have legally purchased the CD but she lost all rights to the music when she gave them away.
If you buy CDs at your local Best Buy and lose them will Best Buy replace them for free:? I think not. And you are paying for the rights to the music, the blank CDs and cases are cheap. If Apple let you download them again they would have to pay a rights fee again to the label/artist. It would be tough to even break even if they allowed this.

  • Lost purchased song on my itune account

    Hi,
Since I changed the country of my itune account i lost fews differents song on itune, what can i do to get them back?

As well as being tied to the account, content is also tied to the country that it was bought in - you won't be able to potentially redownload songs purchased from a different country unless you return to that country and have a billing address in that country on your account. Do you have copies of them on your computer's iTunes library and/or on your backup of your downloads/library so that you can sync them back to your iPad ?

  • Lost Purchased Songs... NEED HELP!! A.S.A.P

So yesterday i bought 7 songs from iTunes and today i wanted to sync those songs onto my iPod. The problem is i can't find the songs anywhere in my library. Can anyone help me find them?

When you connect your ipod, make sure that your box to "manually manage music" is not checked under the summary tab window that opens. And make sure the songs have a check mark next to them, otherwise they won't transfer over.

  • Lost purchased songs, help!

I need help trying to retrieve my songs (about 10) that I purchased through iTunes. I checked in the drive that it is set to go in as well as my entire computer, and all are gone. I checked in my iTunes account under 'Previously Purchased' and they show there with the dates and everything. How can I get them back, or are they gone for ever?? Also, I think this happened after I had selected to sync my music, did that delete them?? Please help. I would like to have the songs I paid for come back.

You can use Explorer to search your computer for missing songs.
On the Start menu, click "Search".
    Select "All Files and folders".
In the "All or part of the file name" field, type the song name and then click "Search".
If you see the file you are looking for in the Search Results window, you can add it back into your iTunes library.
See: How to add songs from your hard drive to iTunes.
If you've done all this and they are gone, are they still on your iPod?
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
