Loudspeaker plays even with headphone in

Why is my iPod Touch always playing music through speaker while my headphones is connected to earphone jack? It's connected already, it should be playing the sound only on the headphone, not both. This is so annoying. I want the music play only through my headphones.
The ipod is new. Is it the jack? Should I go there and let them fix it? again?! This is could be my 3rd time there. First time was for WSOD (logic board problem) - they replaced it with a new one, 2nd time was for a screen problem - they replaced it again. And now for the 3rd time headphone problem? ARGHH..!!! its really frustrating. Thank God I still have my warranty!

This problem happened to my wife's 3rd Gen iPod Touch yesterday. I had her perform a reset (hold the sleep and home buttons down at the same time until the white apple logo appears) and that corrected her problem. About once every 2-3 weeks, my play/pause button stops working on the headphones unless I do this reset, but once I do, the button resumes working properly. Remember, this is essentially just a small computer, so you do occasionally have to restart it.

  • Internal Speakers play even with headphones in

My ipod has just recently been unable to play music from headphones. When the headphones are connected the internal speakers play. For about 2-3 weeks I have had a audio cable for my car plugged into the headphone jack. Could this be the reason why the jack is malfunctioning?

Make sure your headphones are plugged all the way in meaning no silver from the headphone's plug can still be seen.
Otherwise try a hard reset of the device to see if that helps.

  • I cannot play music with my slideshows. I setup the music but it does not play, even with my older slideshows I hear no music.

I cannot play music with my slideshows. I setup the music but it does not play, even with my older slideshows I hear no music.

This category is for iPod shuffle.  Is that the type of iPod you have, because your description of the problem does not sound like it's about a shuffle?  If it's not a shuffle, what is the iPod model...?
There is music there and I can play it connected to laptop.
Are you doing the playing using the iPod, or are you playing the music using iTunes on the laptop?
All mucis icons read "No music" and this is not correct
Do these icons with "No music" appear on the laptop's screen, or on the iPod's screen

  • Why do i hear no sound when playing songs with headphones and without?

all of a sudden i can't hear any song i play, using the headphones and not using the headphones. I've done the hard reboot three times, turned on and off my itunes icloud, then back on. Still no sound when playing music.
    Any solution?

i wish it were that simple (mute button)
Everyone I work with is having the same problem, presently Apple's Music Match is not working.
I certainly hope they will be able to fix this as soon as possible.

  • I cant get the music to play properly with headphones attached

when my music is playing and the headphones are not plugged in, the music plays normally.. when they are pluhhed however, the music sounds deformed, [i cant hear the singer] but can i hear the music playing.. i tried pulling the plug and putting it back in 12 or so times i reset my ipod [i held the home and lock buttons] and i reset my settings.. i dont know what to do now..

First try another pair of earphones
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Quicktime not playing even with recent Codecs

    Hi,
I apologize if this is not the correct forum, I wasn't too sure where to post.
I had a Promo video done for my business, it's in .mov format and played fine in Quicktime when I first received it.
Recently it stopped working, Quicktime opens to a black screen, my file name shows at the top and the Windows "loading" circle is spinning but nothing happens.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled Quicktime, installed all possible Codecs as listed in an Apple support page that I found (it had links to various Codecs required for Windows).
I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, service pack 1 and Quicktime 7.7.4
What kills me is that this file was working!!
Any help that I can get is really appreciated!

I also have a similar problem in Snow Leopard but it happens with Safari and all other browsers. Whenever I try to access embedded QT content I get the message "Required Plugin Misssing" and no QT plugin appears in the list for me.  When I attempt to install the plugin I get to an Apple page telling me that it is now built in to OS X. If I try to install an older version the OS will not allow it.  QT works fine outside of the browsers. From what I can tell this happened after a software update, my mac mini was hardly turned on for around 3 months and then came back into service.
I've poked around for about a month now and found that this is affecting quite a few mac users and has been for quite a while now.  No good solutions have come from the community so far, and from Apple, silence....
QT is their propriotary format and it is not working for many in their native browser, and from all appearances they seem to be ignoring the problem.  I think they need to hang up their iphones, turn down their ipods, and turn off their ipads and start paying a little attention to the technology their company was built on.

  • Mic too quiet in calls - even with headphones?

I like to make skype calls with my friends, i use my iPhone 6 on ios 8.1 for this... They have been complaining that my mic is too quiet and they cannot hear me. i tried plugging in apple headphones and using the remote mic, but it made no difference. Weirdly my mic works fine when i use it in the voice memo app or when recording a video... It seems to be just during facetime and skype calls... No one has complained that it's bad during a cellular call either so i assume its fine then.
i Have found no solution to this and have tried a restore, reboot... And i tried deleting and reinstalling skype...
any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

HI, just to add to this... it seems to work fine on wifi but not on 3g? Could this be caused by a poor internet connection? Thanks

  • Phone will play sound with headphones only?

My iPhone 4S will not play sound except on headphones.  When I push the up or down button for volume adjustment it doesn't change on the screen at all ( like bars going up / down?)

    1. Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    2. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405

  • Playing iTunes7 with headphones, sounds awful

I tried 2 differend headphones with the same results, the sound is full of distortion and I cannot get it to clear up. My iPod (also updated) still sounds fine using the same headphones.
I tried many other apps on the computer with the headphones; RealPlayer, Windows Media Player 10, sound effects, and video games all sound fine it's only iTunes7 that sounds horrible.
I tried the suggestions listed at your website (control panel features) but doesn't help.
I have an AudioMAX sound card.

  • My computer only plays sound with headphones

    Product Name: pavilion pd6
    product number: vm22ua#aba
    operating system: Windows 7
error: my laptop only plays sound when i have headphones plugged in
no changes made to the system before the issue occurred. new drivers were installed for my audio settings after the problem occurred but nothing worked.

Do the Music and Videos app still play through the iPad's speakers ? If so then have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

  • The sound is flat even with headphones.

Is there an equalizer or similar way to get better sound? I connect my headphones to an HP get great sound good bass. The Mac Book Pro sounds week and little bass.

    Launchpad72,
If you are using iTunes, in the iTunes menu bar click Window, in that dropdown there is Equalizer, you can then "sweeten it to your taste". Be sire to check the ON box>
