Lr3 to lr5 file upgrade

I had lr3 & just installed lr5.  Only the files in one catalog automatically upgraded.  How do I change the others?

Do you open the catalogs in lr5?
Yes, of course.
When you upgrade a prior version catalog to a new version, e.g. an LR3 catalog to LR5, you should only get in the new catalog exactly what's in the prior version catalog. So if you are getteing a lot of "!" marks in LR5, that likely means that if you open the LR3 version into LR3 you should be seeing "?" marks on the images showing "!" in the LR5 version. Do you?

  • LR3 to LR5 upgrade, import questions

I upgraded from LR3 to LR5 and ona separate computer, copied all my images onto a separate new external and now want to upload to 5, but not all my images. Can I organize on my Lacie and them import them with complications?

Do you want complications? If you take the time to organize your images before you import them into Lightroom it will make life much simpler. I suggest using one master folder with a logical (for you) subfolder structure.

  • Problems extracting LR5.6  upgrade files after download

    Hello!
I've just completed installing a LR5 upgrade from a DVD.
After this, I downloaded the latest upgrade which i this case was is LR5.6.
My problem is that I am unable to extract the files in the upgrade.
I just get a message from the installer telling me that there is a problem extracting some files and to check that there is enough memory on my computer. The message also suggest to check that I am authourized to use the target folder for the extraction.
I've reinstalled LR5, I've tryed downloading a new upgradefolder several times, I've tryed extracting it in different folders.
There is enough memory and my computer system meets the requirements. (I'am the administrator of course.)
    Anybody has a solution?
    Thanks in advance!
    Felix
PS below is an image of the message I get when trying to extract files (in swedish though).

    Hello Jeff!
    And thanks for your answer.
Yes i've tried extracting/installing both updates (5.5 and 5.6). The outcome was the same in both cases. Same message with 5.6 as the one in my screenshot.
There is some information in this but I can't figure out what it is.

Felix2 from your screen shot it appears you are attempting to download and extract the Lightroom 5.5 update/installer.  Do you receive the same error downloading the 5.6 update at Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.6?  Each update contains the full installer so you do not need to have a previous version of Lightroom installed prior to installing Photoshop Lightroom 5.6.

  • LR3 to LR5 integration

You need to download and install LR5 (or install from the CD), then open LR5. It will ask for your serial number and then ask if you want to upgrade your LR3 catalog (say YES).

  • Entwicklung in LR5 nach Upgrade geht nicht

    Hallo Leute,
    folgender Case:
    1) Upgrade LR3 auf LR5
    2) LR5 gestartet, lizensiert
    Was mache ich falsch?
    VG und besten Dank
    Desidero

  • Can't find my installed LR5.3 upgrade

I have successfully installed a LR5.3 upgrade but when I try to find it I can only see the original 4.4 version.
    Have I missed a step?
    Many thanks.

    I'm using a mac with osx 10.8.5
I have never used LR5 before only 4.4.
I opened the downloaded file and 'successfully installed' it but could not see it when I looked on the launchpad page.
    LR4 was still there.

  • $99 update from LR3 to LR5: worth it?

I just received an email offer from Adobe through Adorama to upgrade my LR3 to LR5 for $99. Is there much improvement of the latest version over the older one? I also use Photoshop Elements 10, and my uses for LR3 are quite simple and i don't use the advanced features except the stuff on the right side under "Develop" I would appreciate if someone could enumerate what the upgrades in LR5 consist of.

The biggest difference in develop module: Lr4 & 5 feature a newer process version: PV2012.
With PV2012 you can get better quality images, in some cases immediately, but in most if not all cases after paying your dues on the learning curve.
PV2012 automatically recovers highlight and shadow detail from the far reaches, which you can make use of, or send it back from whence it came, so to speak.
Also, new clarity has more kick with better quality results when used properly and in the right contexts. Highlight recovery is much better, and shadow lighting is better too.
There are other improvements too, like:
    * Radial gradients.
    * RGB channel curves
    * Longitudinal CA correction, and fringe correction that actually works .
    * Automatic lateral CA correction.
    * More adjustments can be applied locally, like white balance, noise reduction, and highlight/shadows.
    * Distraction removal of arbitrary shaped objects, not just dot spots.
Wild horses couldn't drag me back to Lr3 .

    Hi Kenton,
Adding to what James mentioned, this stands true for both Lightroom and Photoshop. In other words, you don't need to necessarily install the previous versions but while installing the latest versions, in this case Lightroom 5 & PS CS6, you will need the serial keys for previous versions as well along with the current ones.

  • How to make LR3 convert .erf files better [Epson R-D1s]

How can I help Adobe make LR3 convert .erf files [Epson digtial rangefinder R-D1s raw format] better?
After testing LR3 I have re-evaluated my policy for converting two of the three different raw-formats I use: .nef, .x3f and .erf. With the camera calibration beta 2 features for .nef files I cannot see any difference between Capture NX2 output and that of LR3 – well done. And while Sigma’s Photo Pro might still have a slight edge on absolute quality for .x3f files, LR3 has a definite advantage in minimizing (almost eliminating) the green cast problem of high ISO .x3f files. That is one very impressive result.
But for the .erf files there is no marked improvement in LR3 over LR2 and the difference between PhotoRAW and LR3 is almost unbelievable and not to LR3’s advantage. I have tried all possible combinations of process (2003, 2010), profiles (ACR 2.4, 4.4 and Adobe standard) and color space on direct import of raw-files (.erf, .erf converted to .dng, differently sized .tiffs and jpegs) as well as all different combinations of .tiff and .jpegs (size and bit) imports via PhotoRAW and nothing in LR3 comes even close.
The .erf files in PhotoRAW have a certain look to them [a combination of a 3D effect and a brilliance that reminds me of a high quality film transparancy] which is what users of R-D1s love and non-users cannot understand is possible to extract from a 6 megapixel sensor. Although it is possible to use PhotoRAW as an editor from within LR, even the imported .tiff files do not have the same brilliance/3D effect.
Now the question is: how can I help Adobe improve the conversion routine for these files?

  • "APPCRASH" trying to launch LR5.2 upgrade, catalog from LR3 stuck?

I recently upgraded my LR3.2 to LR5.2 and upon launching LR5, I keep receiving a "assertion fail" message with "Lightroom - Opening Catalog: DSC_3768.dng.lrcat" displayed on my desktop. Neither system will launch (3 or 5) and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both. I have searched around and am at my wits end trying to figure out a solution so that I can begin using my new LR5.2, any advice/tips are welcome and greatly appreciated! ...I have a Windows PC.

Quote ""Lightroom - Opening Catalog: DSC_3768.dng.lrcat"
You have inadvertently created a Catalog using the name of an image file namely DSC_3768.dng.  It is recognized by Lightroom as an invalid format and cannot open. Use your OS via Win Explorer or Mac Finder an go to the Lightroom sub-folder where your Catalog files are stored and double click on a previous Catalog file and Lightroom should boot with that Catalog. If this solves your problem the you can remove the offending folder  DSC_3768.dng.lrcat"

  • Is it possible any longer to upgrade from LR3 to LR5 without subscribing to Creative Cloud?

Is it possible any longer to upgrade from LR3.5 to LR5 without subscribing to Creative Cloud? I am not interested in a CC sub at this time.

You can click Buy on this page to purchase LR5 without subscribing:

First, though, download and install LR 5.6 from the Adobe Updates page and make sure LR5 will run on your computer:

You have to change the photo to Process Version 2012.
Under the histogram in the develop module is a Lightning Bolt icon. Click on it.
