(LR5) Is there a way to keep the history of separate developments from the same RAW file?

For example, I want to create both a color and a B/W version from the same original. Let's say that in the color version I want to use one value for contrast, while in the B/W version I want a higher contrast. I want to keep track of both sets of changes.
Right now, after I finish developing the color version and export to a final file, I reset to the original and start developing the B/W version up to its export phase. But then, if I realize that I want to do some adjustment to the color version, if I go back in history to the final change for the color version and do the adjustment on it, the history of changes for B/W gets overwritten.
What I want is to keep track of the changes of each version as some sort of separate history branches...
(I'm using Lightroom 5)

Yes you can create a virtual copy. Select your image and from the top toolbar click:
Photo >> Create Virtual Copy
Then change to B&W and use you different settings.
Good news - this does not duplicate your image on disk; it’s stored as metadata in the catalog.

There's generally no reason to be closing them that way at all. The apps you see in the recents bar are just that, apps that you used recently. Most of them are doing absolutely nothing. The only apps that are really doing anything in the background are ones that play music and ones that are using location services. Just leave them be.

You can use another iPhone (or iPad) to restore it too, or you can login to www.icloud.com (assumng you weer using iCloud) and export your contacts from there.

Workspaces are stored as XML files in your user profile on Windows or the user library on Mac, in a subfolder called, strangely enough, workspaces.
You may have run afoul of the new "content grabber" in the center of a frame that allows you to move the content without changing tools. Looks sort of like a dounut, or the center spot on some SLR camera focus viewfinders. You'll either love it or hate it, and it can be switched on or off in the View menu.

Yesterday while at the Apple store my wife merged iCal from her iPad onto our iMac so we could setup iCloud. That also placed her data on my iPad, which made it difficult to read. After playing with the iCal settings I noticed you can select the devices to show what appears on your individual device. Now, all I need to do is edit and direct her calendar items to her "Named" calendar. Seems to work ok now. Thank you for your input.

Right-click on the website image. Copy Image. In Word, Edit > Paste Special > As Picture (TIFF).
You may wind up with a black border around a white background. That is because the default Word wrap is Inline with Text. Right-click on your blank image, and choose a different Wrap Text submenu choice, such as behind or in front of text. Your image will appear in a borderless container.

I've just got the newest version of pages.
The word count includes everything, from titles to endnotes - including the numbers in my sub-headings.
I used to use open office where you could select a style i.e. 'body tex't, and get a word count that didn't include every single word in a document.
Is there a way of doing something similar, or reseting the word count to only 'body text' so I know exactly how long my essays are?

Unfortunately, no version of Pages has this fine-grained control over document components and their word count, so the answer is no, regarding user changeable settings.
Programmatically, I just told AppleScript to count the words of body text in a currently opened Pages v5.2 document. The count matched the Pages word count for the document. So, no solution there either.

Is there a way to keep images opened in Photoshop 5 from 'glueing' together?

I'm moving from CS3 to CS5 and am innundated with the 'improvments' in CS5. My main problem is that I don't know how to search on something that I don't know the proper name of, for instance, until I was told that the zoom behavior I wanted to disable was called 'scrubby zoom' THEN I was able to locate and uncheck.
This time, the behavior I would like to turn off is the 'magnetic' quality which opens images in a tabbed set, rather than in loose separate cascading images as was the behavior in CS3. I would like to keep images I open separate and not glued together. I would also like to do without the 'magnetic' quality which causes images to want to become 'tabbed sets' if I happen to drag one image window over or close to another as I am trying to compare two images on-screen - I do not want them to merge or want to 'join together' as is the behavior I now am experiencing.
Where are the controls to disable this 'glueing together' behavior of open image windows?

So, If, I'm going to have a ready reference to the innards of PS5 I really should have the PS5 User Manual, which I assume is available in PDF format and available for download online from Adobe. - I'll search there next. Is there a way of programmatically accessing fault/error/BIT information from the PXI-6723 during runtime?

In fact can you access fault information for all PXI cards? How do i detect that there is a fault with a board from within the software so i can report this to a higher level application?

So in essence what you're saying is that if a component on the device fails there is no way to know this as long as the device is still communicating with the PC? It would appear that the Self Test function is a bit of a misnomer - it doesnt actually do what it says on the tin.
So which of the 2000 errors can actually be returned by this function call? I appreciate that there are a broad range of errors but I would like to know which one(s) can in reality be returned by this function. I need to somehow categorise the errors into whether or not the device is healthy so i can communicate this to our customers software (wo have no knowledge of internal NI error codes) so they can decide whether the board needs replacing. Of the 2000 error codes which of these could potentially relate to a hardware failure of some sort as opposed to a software configuration error.
I have found this thread which details some error codes on a NI 446X device (is there something like this for all errors on all devices?):

Lastly where in the NI DAQ help references are the list of error codes and meanings as listed in NIDAQmx.h. For instance what does DAQmxErrorPALThreadControllerIsNotThreadCreator actually mean? I don't want to wait for the error to occur in my system before I get information on what it means - it would be useful to know and understand before I write the software what errors may occur on each device.

I have an 8 Gb iPod and a 16 Gb iPad. I'd like to be able to decide what not to sync to my iPod but would want on my iPad. Is there any way to do this?

in itunes, once your device is conected it will appear on the right hand side. click on it and then on the main window you can select at the top, apps, music movies, etc..
that's where you can customize you sync for that device, by checking unchecking boxes.
and this is only for that device. plug another and do the same. and another, and another, as many as you want.

I had my work laptop and desktop activated to sync my IPOD and my Desktop at home. I got laid off and forgot to deactivate my workstations before they were wiped. My Desktop at home crashed so I wanted to activate my personal laptop but it says that I already have 5 activated. I would like to deactivate all 5 that are associated with my IPOD Classic Video and activate my laptop. If I can get my desktop going again I can re-activate it. Is there a way to deactivate everything?

My iPod was stolen yesterday. Is there any way I can delete my e-mail account from the iPod?

My iPod Touch was stolen last night. Unfortunately, on my iPod was my e-mail account, which was synced to the "Mail" app. I don't want the thief to be able to access my e-mail, so I changed my e-mail password on Gmail.
But is there anything else I can do? I'm scared that even though I changed the password, the Mail app will still be able to access my Gmail account.

You can wipe the iPod only if you had already set up ther FindMyiPod feature. and wifi is on and some other conditions are met.

You can wipe your phone if you had Find My iPhone enabled on it, and if it is still online. You would do this through your iCloud account by logging onto it at iCloud.com
