LSMW - Material Master

I am trying to upload data via batch input in LSMW for material master.
I am getting error - Problem inserting or updating MLAN
The tax category fields are not appearing in converted data.
Kindly help.

LSMW- Material Master Performance issue

Hi All,
We are using the prgoram RMDATIND to upload material master through LSMW and having a problem of performance while using this technique.
Have 4Lak records to be uploaded in 10 hrs as it required to upload all views.
Pl advice except separate the records.Is that any option to run the file in parallal views?

I think best option is to break the file up into many chunks that can be processed in parallel. If this is not an option then you need to consider what is on the selection screen of RMDATIND, for example "Create change documents". Is this required for your purposes as this takes a lot of time.
The other thing I would suggest is to talk to your basis team because there are settings and config they can put in place to aid this load.

LSMW Material Master - create several valution types within one Run

Hello @ll,
i created a LSMW for material master migration, and i would like to create up to 4 different accounting views (based on different valuation types) within one LSMW Run.
As there is the Field BWTAR on Structure BMM00, and the accounting fields on Structure BMMH1 i dont know if:
1. this is possible in general with LSMW and
2. if possible where i have to set the "transfer_record" commands...
Does anybody have experience on this?

I never used the standard batch input method, so I cant answer this part. But with IDOC as import method I do this right now and it works without any problem
The transfer record command is set in the section of processing time __END_OF_RECORD__
you can display this section when you are in field mapping and conversion rules. choose from menu Extras > Layout and activate all boxes.

LSMW: Material Master Data migration

I will be migrating material master data using LSMW IDOC.
I also want to migrated associated material class data.
The question is:
How do I extract the material class data so that I can load them with LSMW IDOC CLFMAS after the materials are loaded?

Hi,
You have 2 possibilities.
1. If it is 1:1 transfer for source SAP system to target SAP sytem ( without data modification ) you to establish the ALE interface and distriute by using the prg: RBDSECLF
2. If it is a transfer of CLF data between 2 SAP systems where you need to modify the data based on some rules after you extract the data from the source system, you could extrace the data from Legacy by BAPI: BAPI_OBJCL_GETDETAIL. Once you extract the data, you could process as per the reqmt, & load the data by LSMW either by DI or by IDoc method.

LSMW - Material Master upload

1)I am uploading materials by LSMW - Direct input method.
[5th step in LSMW(Maintain Field Mapping and Conversion Rules).]
I would like to know the field name for mapping for Tax classification field in Sales Org 1 view of Materail Master.
I need to upload this field with 1 as input.
How do this?.
2) What would be the input value for Check Box in Material Master for LSMW.

Hi,
1.) You can map this value with the field TATY and TAXM.
2.) The check box which you are checing on the material master would be represented by 'X' in the LSMW mapping.

PO text using lsmw MATERIAL MASTER

Hi , how to upload PO text trhough LSMW as its only loading 132 char, if i have 400 char how to load.
there is a structure in lsmw BMMH7, but what to pass in tdformat and tdline and TDSPRASISO

LSMW datamigration material master with multiple distribution channels

Hi,
We plan on using the LSMW to migrate our customer's material master to a ECC 6.0 system.
Currently we use the BMM00 and BMMH1 structures, but there I can specify only one distribution channel.
Does anyone know how to include multiple distribution channels in LSMW material master migration?

you need an extra record in your source per distibution channel.
Alternative you can create the extra record with a small Abap code in LSMW in section __END_OF_RECORD__
There you habe in standard the code:
transfer_record.
just add after this statement a statement that gets the additional wanted distribution channel into the distribution channel field.
BMM00-VTWEG = 'xx'.
transfer_record.

Material master template

The std template can not be work for all bussiness. you have to create based on your requirements.
to creating template is not big deal. you just select the fields which you want to populate while createing material master and certain fields which are required entries.
Or just go to the structure of LSMW - Material master and select allthe fields.
Go to SE11
and enter the structure one by one and copy the fields to your template
BMM00, BMMH1, BMMH2
    BMMH3
    BMMH4
    BMMH5
    BMMH6
    BMMH7
    BMMH8

Classification view creation via LSMW for Material master

Hi,
We are planning to have an LSMW for creation of material master along with classification view for configurable materials.
Though we see a flag to indicate classification view - XEIC1 Indicator: take Classification view into account
We do not see a structure where in we can pass all the characteristics and the corresponding values.
Is this something possible only with BAPIs such as -> BAPI_OBJCL_CREATE after creation of other view for that material.

However, we were intending to use a single LSMW for creation of all views of material master including classification view. Right now we are using Program RMDATIND as direct input method in LSMW.
Please let me know if there is a way to use single LSMW for creation of all views of material master.

LSMW-CREATION OF MATERIAL MASTER

I tried creating a new material using LSMW, after the recording it recorded some checkboxes(KZSEL_01, KZSEL_03....06, i dont really know how to deal with these check boxes in the maintain source field section, any contribution will be highly appreciated, thanks

zkarnalkar explained it already: he fields which you have mention are the select views which you have selected while creating the material master, like basic data1 basic data2, purchasing etc.
The fields on this selection dynpro are variable, their position depends on the the material type definition if you do MM01 or on already maintained views if you do MM02.
Which means in turn that you have to do an extra recording for any material type.
This is just the first variable screen. MRP views have as well variable fields, based on an entry in one field a different field becomes hidden or mandatory. So you need as well an extra recording for any variant in the MRP views
Recording is the worst import method for a material master, as recording is static and material master is high dynamic.
Use BAPI method, IDOC method or direct input method. They are all delivered by SAP and work well.

Issue in LSMW for material master using standard input program RMDATIND!!

I have a issue in LSMW for material master.
I have a custom field in MARA table. which I want to add in my LSMW.
I added the field in BMMH1 structure. I'm passing the value to this field, But it is not populated in the table when I run it.
Is there anything else I need to do apart from addition of field in the structure BMMH1.

LSMW--Create Material master data

When I use LSMW to create material master data, I set up all step, but when I go to last step "13 Run Batch Input Session", there is error message like "Select at least one view" in moudle SAPLMGMM, screen 0070, anybody can tell me what is problem, thanks a lot.

This is due to error while recording for MM01,
Please do a Repeat recording and ensure that once the material number, industry sector and material type is entered, on the next screen you need to select all or at least a single view to create the MMR.

Upload Material master with long text using LSMW

Hello,
i want ot upload material master data via MM01 using LSMW in following views: basic data 1 ,2, purchasing, purchase order text, plant data 1,2.
i have to upload long text in purchase order text with length more then 132 char. (approx 700 char long text). and i have text file in which long text is maintained in a single row. then how can i do it without formating text file or anyother possible solution.
please help.

suppos i have longtext "Air cooled type air-conditioning unit complete with following components & distance between indoor & outdoor unit is 10 RMT. A).Indoor evaporating unit comprising of cooling coils,insulated drain tray,20 micron HDPE washable filters,blower,motor,electical junction box etc. B).Outdoor condensing unit comprising of hermatic/semiharmetic compressor's.condenser coils,propeller/axial fans,motors,pressure switches/cutout etc.C).Charging of refrigerant gas & oil.D).Inter connecting refrigerating piping of copper duly insulated with EXPANDED POLYETHYLENE tubing.E).Complete electical power wiring of AL.&Control wirng of copper required from indoor & outdoor units.Earthing of the complete system with 8 G G.I.wire. F).Electrical panel will be completed with necessary starter,fuses,switches,timers,over-load relays,contactors,push button and indicating lamps,single phasing preventer etc..and also with remote control with cording. G).The panel should have 1 no.potential free contactor to connect with central fire detection system.The panel should have voltage scanner to ensure stabilized power input to the machine.H).Outdoor unit shall be mounted on MS angle base frame structure duly black painted with synthetic epoxy paint.I).The frame structure shall be mounted on MS plate & serrated rubber pads."
