Lumia 520 unlock button

I bought my Lumia 520 not far from release date, and two months later i had a unlock button problem but i thought it was just software and i reset and it didn't change and because the Nokia care centre is far from me i had to use the cam button to unlock my phone, then it would work and stop. It once stopped working for a whole week so i switched it on using the charger when it was off due to battery. On the 21 September it stopped working completely, it has dropped in after i tried to press it while on the charger. What do i do from here? And why are so many people complaining about this phones unlock button?

If you mean your camera button is not working try remove the case and see if there is anything wrong or obstructing the button and connectors,if not return the device to a nokia repair point for inspection.
If your warranty is out of date you need to get an estimate at a nokia care point where they can give you an estimate which you will pay yourself.

Lumia 520 wont boot and power button is broken

managed to break the power button on my lumia 520 3 days after my misses brought it, was using the camera key to switch on . but after pluging the phone into pc somting went amiss now i have the blue screen and cant hard reset as i have no power button to use in the process. any ideas how i can get it to boot back up.i was going to try and flash the phone but im not sure which softwere to use, if any one has a link i would be very greatfull , thanks guys.

Lumia 520 goes to lockscreen inadvertently

Sometimes i'll be tapping away on my lumia 520, and the screen goes dark.
Then I discover that it had gone to lock screen, even though i hadn't pressed the botton on the side.
What's happening here?

Only way to unlock the screen is to hit the button on the side, there may be an app which can do that but I haven't come across one. You sure the display going completely dark or screen brightness dim?. If it the latter then check the screen auto-brightness.

Nokia Lumia 520 - Alternative way of locking/unloc...

I've got Nokia Lumia 520 before a week and overall the phone seems really good for my needs, but I found yesterday that the only way to lock/unlock the screen is by using the Power button every time.
My question is: Is there an alternative way of doing this like for example double tapping the touchscreen or by some app that can perform such function?

The 52x hardware does not support the Glace screen functionality. I would guess that in sleep mode the used screen has no power thus would not sense the tap or be able to display the clock. It's a budget phone for a reason..
That said, pressing the power button is the only action to wake up the phone..

Timescale for firmware updates Lumia 520 ?

Can anyone explain why there is such a varience in which the same update gets released either from a phone supplier or Nokia.
For example I am with O2 in the UK. I asked about the Amber upgrade and the replies varied from "what is that I've never heard of it" to " We are not imformed of release dates so do not know" to a straight "no idea". to " keep checking in settings-phone-update"
AT & T have been selling the Lumia 520 for some time and their version has Windows Phone 8 build 10327 (GDR2) and Nokia’s Amber firmware update already on board.
I can not see Amber for example being different in USA and UK or Swaziland for the same phone.
So why such a delay

There is a difference between a sim,free (factory unlocked/unbranded) device and a carrier released version.
your challenge with updates when you have a carrier branded device is that the carrier usually has very few updates to devices. And, their firmware versions are different, which include bloatware.
it is either software they are paid to put in devices, or their own renditions of billing, WiFi calling, mapping, etc stuff. So, before they do any updates of firmware and push it out, they have to do their own version of QC whereas factory unlocked devices get updates when ever the phone manufacturer releases them, which is usually more often.
even,if you get your device unlocked, it will still require that the carrier push the update. So the care reps are usually going to very uninformed unless they truly are involved in the tech side and have genuine interest to learn more. From a corporate perspective, they usually are scripted and clueless, which for the companies sake helps them not to create anymore confusion with the customer base then already is there.
as for the varients of,different countries, good to think about the regulations each country has, as well as some of the functionality of the device. Some countries don't have 3 or 4g service, or MMS is different, or there are frequency differences or regulations on what can be done. This goes far more deeper than just having the language available.

No sim works for my nokia lumia 520

My brother gave me an Nokia lumia 520, and i have tried off all of the sim cards and some ask for a sim card code or something similar im not sure now.
on others it says that its in gpm or gps mode im not sure what to do i don't know what to do.
i can use the phone but not call or text anyone
and im in the uk i tried (o2, 3, orange, lebara and some more) help please i don't know what's the customer service line for my problem even. And any idea how much it would cost to unlock it.

Only the network provider where the phone is locked with can unlock the phone. We suggest contacting them regarding this and the cost of it.

I have a nokia lumia 520 an update popped up on my screen telling me to install so I did and now my phone has been stuck on rolling gears for 15 hours I've tried all the suggestions about resting with all the buttons but nothing is working somebody help

If the charger is connected, disconnect it and wait till the Battery dies. Then reconnect the charger and wait upto an hour to see if the phone switches ON on its own. If not, try the Resets that you tried once again ..

Lumia 520 Frustrating Story

i have 5-6 handsets of nokia company in my family,
but this time i am very disappointed by lumia 520
this handset frustrates me as in start days the volume button not working and i went to care cebter 5-6 times and the level went high when the touch of this phone broke down and nokia care charge me 2650 INR against repair . the story not ends here touch again broke down next day (note:- i told the lady at reception of care ceter that the touch is working properly but she refused my last one year experience with lumia 520 and instruct me thet this will work in this way ) and when i went to nokia care they ready to charge 2200 then 1800 as i warned them for consumer case even they didnt gave me the bill when i asked them for same they told me if any thing happen they will do on free basis.
so guys please don't buy the Nokia Products . they are not trust worthy and the staff at care center is not friendly . what would i say i mean nokia care's staff have no sense of talking with customer . i am from chandigarh India. the nokia care center is at sector 22c second floor.

Just recently bought a Nokia Lumia 520 in Brisbane Australia, am traveling to the USA in the New Year. I have purchased a travel sim card from the post office for use in the phone on the trip.
Could someone please tell me if it will be possible to use this phone in the USA?

Is the Windows Phone Update 3 (GDR3) released for Lumia 520 in India till now? It is showing as the latest version in Microsoft Website but I havenot received till now.
my phone is not developer unlocked.
Some days ago I received a update notification , downloaded and installed it but didnot noticed any change in OS version or Firmwire Version.

Lumia 520 bricked by Windows Phone Recovery Tool

So I'd installed win10 preview for my lumia 520 and it was not good enough for my daily using and i tried to downgrad it. there was an instruction after starting to flash that hol power key and volume - for 3 or 15 seconds and when you felt vibration hit the button to start the process...
i'd tried it but my phone didnt restart...even i hod them for about 2minutes but nothing will happen just blank screen.
when i used windows phone recovery it find my phone but it shows an error that restart your phone and try again
Recovery tool said operation unsuccessful. Red screen with NOKIA written.
what's your suggestion?

New nokia lumia 520

my new nokia lumia 520 hangs.
its been only 20 days i brought my new lumia 520.
Case : I just completed call. the screen got blacked out. we can still get incoming calls.
we have the option to switch off. when it asks to slide down. it never happens. not able to slide it down.
Solution - i removed battery and replaced. (This is very bad solution but i had no other option)
tried - done power off and also volume down button with power off. it dint work.
So disappointed!!

hi mate, as a precursor to taking your phone to nokia care, you can check that you have the latest firmware updates for your device, and that you are up to date with the latest Nokia system app updates from the Store. also try performing a soft and then a hard reset if that doesn't work.

I've occured a strange problem. I tried googling for similiar problems & solutions, but came out empty handed.
Perhaps I haven't tried using the correct keywords yet, so I appologize if this problem has occured before and there already is a topic on it.
PROBLEM:
When typing with Lumia 520 normally (holding the phone vertically) it works perfectly. Flawless.
When I go into landscape mode (for faster typing), some bugs occur. The keys on far left, and right work good. When I try to type:
'f'' or 'r' or 'x' it comes out as ',' (comma)
'd' or 'e' or 'z' it goes to emotes
It's very annoying, because typing in vertical mode is much slower.
Not sure if related, but sometimes when it asks my permisson for something (slides down from top), asking something with 2 boxes "Allow" and "Deny"... Then when I press on "Allow", nothing happens.. But if I press "Deny" then "Allow" lights up and goes by that command. Not a big problem, because I can push Deny to Allow and to Deny I just hit the Back button.
I have Cyan update. I've tried soft reset and replacing my languages, but no change.
Changing the touchscreen sesnitivity from strong to average also had no effect.

It's a good phone if you take care of it okay. Hasn't failed me yet.

So I figured out, that a small part of the touchscreen does not work properly or works poorly. (Like when I 'Accept' it registers 'Deny' instead.
My warrant is void. So what could be the logical technical difficulty, that I'm facing? Replacing the touchscreen? Checking some kind of contacts?
EDIT: Added a picture of the 'bad' areas. When pressing around the red area, then pink area works. Same with blue. All else works perfectly fine. I'm sad and confused - why only THAT AREA?

Touching the colored area activates the circled area!
