Lumia 800 Keyboard Problem - Is this Normal?

When using some apps (Facebook, for example) the virtual keyboard becomes partially unresponsive - pressing any key in the bottom two rows is almost impossible. Also, in the messaging app, the 'send' button is inactive when the keyboard is visible. I have to press the 'Back' button to dismis the keyboard before I can press send.
I have set a passcode to protect the phone. Sometimes the keypad for entering the code shows the same behaviour, some of the keys are unresponsive.
Switching the display off and on usually restores the keys.
In all other respects the phone seems to be ok.
Is this normal?

Not normal, at least not for me, only nit picking I have is that when the keyboard is visible, and I'm in portrait mode typing a text message, I have to hit the bottom part of the send button, otherwise it registers as a comma.
But I have no unresponsiveness in the lock screen or anywhere else, only "lag" I've experienced is in IE when typing something in an input box, the letters sometimes lag behind for a second or less if I've just zoomed in.
Works like a charm, like my old iPhone.

Nokia lumia 800 signal problems

I have a lumia 800 with terrible signal issues. I know it is the phone and not the signal strength as i have a htc phone for work on the same network. The problem mainly is that the signal will dissappear for hours at a time, even restarting the phone doesn't help, when i have full signal on the htc phone constantly. I have issues with the phone freezing and needing to be restarted, delaying by upto 2 hours sending or recieving push messages on social apps and in general being very slow compared with the htc. the htc is on the android system and works superbly, only had a couple of minor problems with it. Is it likely that i have a faulty phone or am i just expecting to much from a phone that is over a year newer?
I like the phone, style wise just wish it worked.

Nokia lumia 800 video problems.

Hello, my friend in work has a nokia lumia 800 which a couple of days ago just stopped playing all kinds of videos, be it videos he has taken or on youtube or any thing!
Also xbox live doesnt open either.
Neither of us are very 'techy' so any suggestions in simple terms would be very much appreciated!

What happens upon trying to play the videos? Is there any error message or is it just showing a blank screen?
You can try to copy the videos to your computer, delete the videos on your phone and then transfer them back to the phone from your computer.
If this would fail, you may consider resetting the phone by going to Settings and then About. As this will delete all the contents of the phone, ensure to sync your files or to create a backup copy. See Reset and restore your phone found in the below link for more information as regard to syncing your files, resetting the phone and restoring the files backed up:

Lumia 800 crash problems after running Network Set...

Long post coming up but if somebody at Nokia reads and makes sense of it and a fix comes about then it'll have been worth it.
Phone: Nokia Lumia 800 (sim free)
Firmware: 11500
Location: UK and Ireland
Since I got my Lumia 800 (November) I've been traveling between UK and Ireland a lot.
The phone works fine in the UK but in Ireland, when I put in my three.ie sim the phone keeps crashing during network related operations such as coming out of flight mode or reading/replying to a text message.
It's not a dodgy sim because this is the third one (I get a new payg sim each month) and this problem has occurred throughout.
At first I noticed that I could not configure the phone where MMS and internet data worked at the same time. If I added the 3internet APN then data worked but MMS didn't. If I deleted the APN then MMS worked but data didn't.
Another problem with this phone in Ireland was that it kept crashing whenever I took it out of flight mode. Again, this did not happen in the UK with my UK (Three network) sim.
As this has been happening from the first days that I got the phone I've been looking for a solution/workaround the whole time and I remember one of the first bits of information I found was somebody suggesting that the phone worked fine with the first sim inserted (which in my case was the UK sim). That stuck with me and when the Network Setup app (from Nokia) appeared I thought "ah! this makes sense, now I should be able to switch sims".
Unfortunately the app did not fix the problem of not having a unified network configuration for data and MMS.
This week I bit the bullet and reset the phone with the Ireland sim inserted. O...M...G...!!! Internet data AND MMS now work (in Ireland) and I have not gone anywhere near the APN configuration.
I used the phone for an hour surfing, checking emails, sending texts and MMSs, all was good.
Then I thought about the Network Setup app and wondered what it would do, so I ran it. The very next incoming text message crashed the phone! Then I rebooted and found that internet data did not work.
Next I repeated this process. Reset phone with three.ie sim inserted, checked that internet data and MMS worked (they did), ran Network Setup, internet data no longer worked, opened an incoming text...it didn't crash.
So, not a reproducible problem
Next test: flight-mode toggling. This one IS reproducible.
Location: Ireland
Sim: three.ie
Fully reset phone.
Before running Network Setup: flight mode toggles=20, crashes=0
After running Network Setup: flight mode toggles=20, crashes=12
Fully reset phone again.
Before running Network Setup: flight mode toggles=20, crashes=0
After running Network Setup: flight mode toggles=20, crashes=11
Fully reset phone again.
Before running Network Setup: flight mode toggles=20, crashes=0
So now I'm not going to run Network Setup, I'll head back to the UK on Friday and see if my phone continues to work properly with my UK sim.

Oh poop!!
Phone just crashed when coming out of flight mode and I have not run Network Setup.
MMS and internet data are working though so I'll just not use flight mode at night...or on planes

Lumia 800: Odd problem

Forgive me if this is a repeated problem, but I cant seem to find a solution to this anywhere.
My Lumia 800 will boot up fine, I can enter the sim pin number and the phone unlock code to get to the home screen. But then it freezes. unable to scroll in any direction. Initially, was able to slide the screen to the Apps list, where i could scroll freely through everything, left right up down, even in App sub menus etc, but now even this ability has stopped.
The phone now boots up to the home screen and just freezes, though the tiles are still animated. The back, windows and bing buttons don't work either.
If I boot without a sim, I can click on the 'close' button of the SIM not present dialogue box, but the home screen is still frozen.
Totally flummoxed on this one. I'm sure I've tried a soft reset at some point to see if that cures it. Now considering a hard reset and then a restore from my computer and a re-sync.
Will this cure the problem, or is it a warranty repair job?

Yeah. It happened about a month ago, but cleared itself after being left off overnight.
Tried without sim, can select close on the 'no sim emergency calls' dialogue box, but it still freezes on the home screen.
Oh, now I've just got a display of greeny coloured static on my screen. It's just going through cycles of greeny static, then black, then static. Alomost as if it's powering up and then not.
I think I've read about this on here somewhere, but if you have any info, it'd be a great help. Care centre trip is needed!
Still, managed to get my X6 running, so all is not lost.

Lumia 800 keyboard predictive text recognises 'Iph...

Sorry but this is really too funny. Anyone else noticed? I guess you have to have language set to 'english'.
Using a Lumia 800:
Open a document and type 'iph'. The suggestions box says: "Ooh IPhone Upgrade"
Then type 'Lumia' and it says: "Punishment"

I have a wired keyboard which won't work with my MacBook Air unless I use the extension cable supplied with the apple keyboard. Is this normal or have I got a connection problem?

I Have an apple wired keyboard which suddenly won't work unless I use the apple ext cable supplied with the keyboard...used with the wire fixed into the keyboard it just won't respond. Do u think the keyboard is faulty. ? I want to use it with my MacBook Air and a big screen.

My best guess is that either there's a small deformation of the USB plug of your keyboard or some foreign matter (like lint) inside the keyboard plug. When I was setting up my new lab last year I had to use the extension cables and I found that the female end of the extension cable was considerably tighter than the computer's USB port. If an Apple store is nearby it would be worth taking the computer, keyboard, and extension just for piece of mind.

The volume level when the phone rings for the first 1-2 seconds jumps to max. then a pauses and then comes down to what was set.

Thank you for your posts on this.
We are aware of this, and we are investigating the case.
Nevertheless, the ring tone volume adjusts itself automatically after the first 2 seconds to normal level.
To silence an incoming call, press the volume key when a call arrives.
I know this isn't an ideal solution but its a temporary work around for the time being.
This is being looked into and I will feedback any possible solution as soon as I get one.

Lumia 800 Email problem.

I have a problem with deleted mails - not sync'd with my "imap" configuration.. i can't see anywhere, where i need to ajust this configuration.
Meaning - when i delete the message from inbox, it should be transferred to deleted... in a way it does, but it seems to be "only" one the lumia... even when deleting from this folder, it comes back... now im way over 5000+ messages in deleted mails...
But when i look through my webmail there is only the mails i have deleted from my outlook Imap sync...
Sooo...
Anyone up for a little fix - trying to help me !

Whether the mailbox is IMAP or POP (can be either) is not what is causing this. There is an option to only show mail which is an x amount of days old. If you go to the mailbox you want to see older mails in just go to that mailbox and then Options (..) -> synchronisation settings -> Download email from and change this setting. Available options are 3 days, 7 days, two weeks, last month or all messages.
Mail older then the setting you choose will be removed from the phone but remain on the server. If you manually delete a mail from the phone it will also be deleted from the server and vice versa.

Nokia lumia 800 volume problem

I can't turn my volume up or down. I think its something to do with the buttons because sometimes I can turn it up. Other times I try and it will turn it down. This does my head in as my volume is now stuck on 10/30

Do you have this issue when you are engaged in a call? If yes, this is not a problem as the maximum volume level for calls is 10/30.
If you are having this issue when playing games on the phone or when streaming/listening music, here's where the issue comes in. Rebooting the phone is the first thing to try. If this would fail, check that you have the latest update installed on your phone which is the 7.8. If it is still the same, to perform a reset by going to Settings > About is what I'd suggest. As this will delete all the files on your phone, syncing all the files to your computer/cloud is a must. Please refer to the below link, specifically "reset and restore your phone" for further information about syncing your files:

Lumia 800 Sound problems on call

Hello guys.
I wanted to know if anyone has ever happened to this thing with this beautiful terminal.
Many times when I answer a call can not hear who's calling me and after many tests I noticed that, if when I answer I hear a noise as if it were turned on and off for a moment on the speakerphone, it means that I will present this problem and the only thing to hear the other person is to activate and deactivate the speakerphone.

Since you have already checked settings and reset the phone and the problem still persists, then it is very likely a hardware problem. Perhaps it is time to pay a visit to your local Nokia Care Point. You can locate your nearest care point using th link below.

BT Infinity installation problems - is this normal...

extended rant follows...
I moved house on the 11th July and ordered BT Infinity 2 for my new address. Openreach Engineers came on the 14th July and provided the modem and wall socket. I was led to believe that they had effected the changeover to fiber at the cabinet. They informed me there was a short in the house internal wiring, however after they left, my broadband was working, albeit at about 2Mb/s. Another engineer appointment was booked for the 5th August. I then went on holiday for 2 weeks. On the 5th August a broadband engineer turned up and said that he had been incorrectly booked as this was a phone line problem, and left. I then received a call saying a phone line engineer would come on the 6th August, which he did, and by finding the junction box in the flat and running new cabling out from it, he fixed the short. My broadband then became operational and seemed to be running at fibre optic speeds.
On 17th August my home hub started showing an orange broadband indicator, with the modem showing VDSL was working. Power cycling, resetting, nothing worked. I called and emailed bt broadband support, who promised to sort my problem. On 19th August having heard nothing I called support again, and after being passed around for 2 hours I was finally put through to order management who informed me that I did not in fact have infinity installed, that my order was incomplete and that absolutely nothing further would happen until I had had another visit from an engineer, which would happen on the 1st September, 7 weeks after the initial installation visit. The operator also said that I had another engineer visit scheduled for the 18th that had been cancelled, both without my knowledge - no emails, texts etc, and that this might explain why my broadband had stopped working - it had been switched off.
I'm seriously considering cancelling my order and moving to a much smaller provider that does not have these administration problems. I should not have to spend 2 hours on hold to find out something that perhaps I could have been told when I first contacted BT. Am I in my rights to do this? I've been a bt broadband customer for at least 3 years.
If not,what is the procedure for ensuring that I am not billed for 2 months of infinity broadband that I will not actually be supplied?

I think your Openreach modem may have joined many of it's friends. I expect you've seen the Modem replaced 3 times in two months thread.
Unfortunately India seems to default to "there is a fault at your exchange"... your "you don't have Infinity yet sir" may well be a new version/tactic so that when the engineer arrives in September he will pop a new Openreach modem on the wall.
I think I would seek help from a forum mod, they are very helpful but pretty busy, so will take a few days before you get a reply.

I am dreading when it's my turn to get the bloomin' thing replaced as I believe it sometimes causes the exchange to slow your IP profile down to something in the 20 to 25Mb range and it's a devil of a job to get the IP reset back up.
I hope you don't jump ship.... My previous ISP was a nightmare to get help from, and that was working with a product (ADSL) that has been around for 10 years.... Infinity has only just landed and there is a rumour... which I am helping to spread that we may get an even faster speed in the not too distant future.
Edit Crikey September 1st is just around the corner.... well not if your broadbandless of course.
I was just surprised when I looked at the calender and realised our summer only has less than two weeks to go... what a grotty old summer it's been, remember those lovely hot "global warming!" summers of 1995 , 2003 and dare I say it 1976 ... Rambling a bit here sorry.

Nokia Lumia 800 boots only by plugging it after op...

Hello,
This is not a huge problem but strangely my Lumia 800 sometimes does not start normally but only if plugged to the main. I noticed that when I open and close the sim tray then this problem appears. Even when the phone is switched off!
If I just open the tray the phone starts but if I then close it switches off sometimes and won't start unless plugged.
Anyone had this strange problem?

UPDATE: It shut down even if I did not mess up with the sim tray. Every now and then it shuts down and cannot reboot unless plugged in. Maybe is the battery that is gone? It happens even when battery says is 80-90%
