Lumia turned into a nightmare

I bought a nokia lumia 520 handset on 28th July 2013. My experience with this handset has been terrible. Initially I was not able to use the net connectivity on the handset, so I made a visit to nokia care Lajpat nagar (New Delhi) on 31st july 2013. They updated the software, stating that this would resolve the problem, but it did not. On the top of it, the outgoing and incoming calls were not audible at all, neither was the phone ringtone. I had to again make a visit to nokia care lajpat nagar on 7th august 2013, after which they deposited my phone stating that they would be sending it to nokia care bangalore.
This is really frustrating as I had to take time off from my busy schedule and make calls and visits to fix a brand new handset. I was expecting that nokia would give me a new handset instead of fixing the defective piece, but I was shocked and surprised when I came to know that the defective handset would be fixed. What is the point of spending so much of money on a defective handset?????? I would have rather gone for a second hand handset that would have been more cheaper.  
I had heard a lot about Nokia due to which I purchased the handset. But, after whatever happened, I would not like to suggest anyone to go for the handset. I still hope that someone in Nokia would understand my grievance and the value for money.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with your Lumia 520. It does look like there was a problem with your unit, which is precisely why there's a warranty.
The Lumia 520 is a very successful device by all accounts. Yours had a problem, there's no denying that, but it doesn't mean that the model itself is bad and that all of the millions of devices shipped have the same problem.

    Hi everyone,
    This is my first post here so I hope I am posting on the right place. So basically I am using a Macbook Pro with Retina Display (13 inch) and it was bought on September 2014. This is all I know about my laptop as I really don't understand from softwares or anything of that kind (I do not even know what IOS means, sorry!) and I cannot look at any of the information because it was a gift from my father who lives in another country!
    Now, the problem is that I do not know whatever happened, as I do not download anything to my laptop other than university slides and lecture notes. But since yesterday, almost whenever I click on a legit website, the website is replaced by this weight loss advertisement (or malware, I do not know the word to use as I have just learnt about these terms while looking for a solution to my problem) within a few seconds. This is a nightmare, and I am really really happy at least it did not happen on this website.
    Do you know what I should do? Sorry I can't provide any information as I don't know anything about technology myself.

  • Raw Files turn into 175kb preview files.

    I have download my RAW files from my Canon 1DS into Photoshop CS2 using a Lexar card reader.
    They download as a full RAW file but when I go to open them in bridge the turn into a 175 kb preview file! The strange thing is I download 5 gbs from 5 different cards but not all of them did it. I found that if I download the images several times they would eventually download as full RAW files. I am using a G5 MAC with loads of memory and processing capacity. Is it the problem that the cards are corrupting, the card reader is faulty, CS2 is somehow corrupt (it is a fully registered copy) or that bridge has some weird glich in it. This problem has only just started as I have been this software for some months now.

    Leopard? You aren't doing a command/copy (move) are you? There have been reports that "moves" in Leopard is broken...
    Otherwise, try another card reader or cable. This isn't something Bridge would be doing to your files...

  • I don't understand what's happening with my Music. All the songs that I purchased, that were previously on my phone, now show up a Cloud next to them, but I can't play them. If I touch the Cloud, it turns into a red square but never downloads.

    I've sync'd my phone, I've turned it to "show all music" in Settings, I've drag and dropped the songs/albums onto my phone again. I feel like I've tried everything I've seen recommended, but nothing works.
    I've purchased a lot of music from iTunes. It should be there. What's going on?

    Once you successfully add you iTunes library to iTunes Match, you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store on your iOS device and turn on iTunes Match.  Your iTunes Match library will then appear on your iOS device.

    Are you running any A-V? If it's an iMac 21.5, I don't think you're running Leopard, 10.5. Probably at least Snow Leopard, 10.6. This is the Leopard forum.

    Try a Safe Boot. Shift at the startup chime and expect a much longer time to boot. This will bring you to a login screen with "Safe Boot" in red.

  • Using webmail in Mozilla Firefox 17.0.1 on Windows 8, original messages get turned into html code when I reply to or forward them. How can I fix this?

    I have tried re-setting Firefox and working in Safe Mode, but the problem still recurs. I use Fastmail as my webmail server and never had this problem on Windows XP or Windows 7. When I reply to a message, the original message is turned into html code. The same happens when I forward a message.
    My JavaScript is up to date, in case that's relevant. The Fastmail support team suggested the problem would be Firefox-related.
    The other function of my Fastmail account that isn't working properly in Firefox 17.0.1. is the search function.
    Do I need to get new plugins or something? I don't know where the HTML editor is in Firefox or if that's what's wrong.

    Thanks for your reply, cor-el. Norton 360 came pre-installed on the laptop as part of the package I bought. I haven't changed the pre-set firewall or anti-virus settings. Should I change something?
    I will try rebooting in Windows Safe mode as you say and report if that makes any difference.

    I'm having a problem with Firefox. Lately it have happened to me that I'm looking at a site and suddenly the site turns into a white blank page and that happens without me doing anything or clicking anywhere. The site loads normally and I can navigate through the page but then all the content disappears and shows just a white page. At first I thought it was a problem with the address because that problem happened to me just in this one(http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=231&cat=144&category=142) while I was looking at the classifieds but today I was browsing other pages(e.g. www.collegeboard.org) and the same thing happened. And it doesn't happen on every site, so far is has been just in a couple of addresses. Then, in order to fix this, I have to click the "go back one page" button to get to the same page I was on. It looks like when it turns white is because it goes to a different page because if I reload that white page nothing happens until I click "go back". I hope you can help me.

    If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

    It sounds like it could be a font issue.  Are you sure you are using a font in Pages which is present on the iPad?

  • Menu fonts all turn into boxed capital "A"s

    At some point last night, while I was working on my 10.4.9 PowerMac G4, something happened and my menu fonts all turned into some glyph that looks like a capital "A" inside of a box. All of the text on the desktop, menu bar, window titles, and the left side of a finder window have this change. Files displayed within a finder window, however, do not.
    Does anyone have any idea of what might have gone broken to cause this, and ideas on what I can do to try to fix it? I'd rather not reinstall if that's an option.
    I've run Disk Utility and DiskWarrior to make sure the drive is up to spec, and it checked out.

    Sure, from any OS X system at all. But I imagine you
    still have Lucida Grande (look in
    System/Library/Fonts) and I doubt replacing it will
    help. Worth a try, but I think the problem is
    something messed up in the OS that makes it think the
    font is gone.
    That, also, appears to be the case. Sigh. Looks like it's reinstall time.

    You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
    Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
    Back up all data.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
    Right-click or control-click the line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
    from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.

    You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

    You need to Restore the iPhone using iTunes. If you have a recent backup it will be restored at the end of Restore process.

    Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
