Lumira Server Installation on HANA Options

Dear All,
I have asked this Question to SAP Lumira support team , i am awaiting for their response. Lumira experts please help me with the query in case if you an answer
We have ECC 6.0 running on HANA DB and now migrating BW database also to HANA DB. To setup Lumira Server which is the better deployment option ?  Installing Lumira on top of ERP HANA DB or BW HANA DB ? (We also have Fiori Implementation going on )
Thanks,
Ravi

Hi,
This is a tricky question that is more in the realms of solution architecture decisioning, than technical support.
Your deployment option choice might come down to personal preference or practicality.
Or it could be dictated by organisational practice.
Or driven by varying compliance and governance needs.
Also, perhaps different service-level requirements or business criticality could influence your choice. (processing loads, schedules)
Of course, maintenance considerations and the availability of capacity (inc. sizing) would be factors too.
Not forgetting geography, infrastructure, network, bandwidth etc when thinking about delivering an amazing end-user experience.
Personally, I'd put it alongside BW as part of your Analytics use-case. And let business-critical ERP operations get handled in separation.
Regards,
H

  • Lumira Server on SAP HANA Cloud Platform?

    Hi,
Can we run Lumira Server on SAP HANA Cloud Platform (not SAP HANA)?
    Reason:
Unless there is a way to publish Lumira Story via Lumira Cloud to BI LaunchPad, otherwise I am only interested in the Lumira Desktop version at the moment. As we want to continue to pursue to have one central portal for all BI contents using BI LaunchPad.
    Question:
In summary, is it possible to apply SAP Lumira Server on SAP HANA Cloud Platform?
See screenshots below for the ideal scenarios.

    Hi Ken,
    Great question.
    Yes, absolutely you can.
As an example: I work with some customers who have small Hana estates "on-premise" (say, for Fraud on Hana, or BW HANA sidecar); as such they may not have the available infrastructure to decouple a sandbox Hana to evaluate new Hana Analytics innovations (like Lumira Server)
In such situations I recommend this page http://hcp.sap.com/platform.html  to evaluate our Hana Cloud platform options.
If you scroll half-way down, you'll see a nice graphic under the heading "Choose the Service That's Best for You". (the 3 stacked pillars)
Depending on your own licensing particulars, you may already have a runtime license for Lumira Server (through your BI bundle), and you may already have HDB (database) licenses available in your enterprise, so potentially you need only the 'infrastructure service' (leftmost chart).
Then, I've seen this integrated into productive on-premise systems, typically (but optionally) via a "leased line" (between customer & provider (SAP)) , and a VPN tunnel in between to make the secure bridge.
It's a really neat way to get on the Hana journey: quick to deploy, flexible, and well priced.
    Regards,
    H

  • LUMIRA Server 1.17 - Share option

    Hello,
I created a stroy and a dataset and want to share this with other users. I created a user with role sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_CONSUMER but when I click on Share it opens up a pop up (see attachment) and from there it asks for "roles" to be assigned. There is just one option and I don't know how to proceed to share my stories with other specific users or users with a custom role.
Any ideas how to do this?
    Thanks.

No. Only when I create a role and add sap.bi.common::BI_TECH_USER to it I'm able to authorize certain users for certain reports. BUT when the same user uses SAP Lumira Desktop the user will be able to receive ALL data. I couldn't solve this problem.

  • SAP Lumira server refresh

How does data refresh work for SAP lumira server for UNX /SQL data sources? Do we need to publish new datasets manually or server has direct DB connectivity ( similar to BO universes). The details around data refresh is bit thin around SAP Lumira Server.
    Thanks
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay
No it's not 1.16. We will be making an announcement at Sapphire of the details and then on SCN shortly after.  Based on the current planning, it will require:
    - Lumira Server 1.17
    - HANA 1.0 SP8 (pre-req for Lumira Server)
    - BI 4.1 SP3
    - SAP BusinessObjects BI, add-on for SAP Lumira (a.k.a "Lumira add-on")
However the plan is subject to change. I hope to be able to provide more concrete timelines within two weeks but it should be coming soon.
Do you have BI 4.1 SP3 environment?

  • Unable to Publish LUMS file to Lumira Server on HANA

    Hi SCN Community,
I did quite a bit of research on this topic on SCN and other blogs but couldn't find the answer. I did all the configuration according to KBA 1995325.
I have installed Lumira Server 1.23 on HANA SPS9. I have went through the configuration guide and done all the configuration I can find via Fiori portal.
The issue I am having is I can create a lums document(tried Excel, Universe, HANA online/offline) in Lumira Desktop and it works fine but when I publish it to Lumira Server I get the following error. I get the same error when I try to create a data set in Lumira Server itself.
Also I can publish the same lums document to Lumira Cloud and it works fine.
I will appreciate any help. Thanks
1st screenshot is of the published doc and the 2nd is when I try to create a data set

    Hi Gaurav,
Try it without using Proxy (under Network, Preferences), and also (in case of online HANA view) use the same server name (including the domain name) in both the connection dialog, and Network, Preferences dialog.

  • Lumira on HCP or Cloud Lumira server with backend as HANA DB

    Hi
I have developed Lumira stories in desktop version and deployed in trial version of Cloud Lumira server.
But not able to connect HANA DB as backend to create stories in Cloud Lumira.
is there any way to create Cloud Lumira stories with backend as HANA DB ? i'm able to achieve this in desktop version and again not able to publish to Cloud Lumira.
i tried with Hana Cloud Platform trial account.
But i dont find Lumira Server on HCP. Only Cloud lumira is available where we are not able to connect with HANA DB.
Is Lumira is available on HCP ? or how to connect HANA DB with Cloud lumira server?
I'm new to Lumira developments, Any help would be appreciable.
    Thanks & Regards
    Yokesvaran Kumarasamy

I don't think you will be able to connect to those with trial accounts; those are typically limited in data sources
See Figure 15 here  BI in the Cloud - ASUG Webcast Summary  - Lumira Server on HCP is planned

  • Lumira Server: Multi Tenant on HANA

Does Lumira Server support for multi tenancy on HANA ?
    tx, Iver

    Hi Iver,
If you want to cosume Data to SAP Lumira from multiple HANA server, yes that is possible. But the Lumira server itself runs on single container of HANA. you could implement Lumira on top of SAP HANA and use roles to efficently manage it.
If you want to Virtualize your HANA Instance then the following are the Deployment Scenarios available for Virtualization
    SAP HANA Virtualization- Deployment Scenarios
You also have various scenarios where HANA is used ( for Eg as Underline DB for BW or as Sidecar approach ). This blog tells more about it.

  • Publish Dataset and history in sap lumira server

    Hi Experts
I'm trying to publish a dataset and story from the sap Lumira desktop to Lumira  server.
    Tools used
SAP HANA DATABASE REV.80 INSTANCIA EN WINDOWS AZURE
    SAP LUMIRA DESTOP V1.18
    SAP LUMIRA SERVER V1.18
The process I followed is as follows:
    1. Create Users:
CONFIG: Assign the role sap.bi.admin :: BI_CONFIGURATOR. Some other role or privilege required?
TECNICO: Assign the role sap.bi.common :: BI_TECH_USER. Some other role or privilege required?
ANALISTA: Assign the role sap.bi.common :: BI_DATA_ANALYST. This user is the one that has the role to publish in Lumira sap server. Some other role or privilege required?
    2. Entry to http: // <HOSTNAME> 80 <INSTANCE> / sap / hana / xs / FormLogin /
I sign in with  the password created in hana studio  for each user and then make the change the password of each user CONFIG - TECNICO – ANALISTA
    3. Entry to http://<HOSTNAME>:80<INSTANCE>/sap/bi/launchpad/fiori
I sign in with the  user CONFIG and in the catalag administration of sap Lumira server income in the field Enter technical  user TECNICO, so I confirm the sql connection.
    4. Entry to http: // <HOSTNAME> 80 <INSTANCE> / sap / hana / xs / admin
I sign in with the user CONFIG sap.bi.launchpad.logic.v2 following path of the package and confirm that the sql connection is for the user TECNICO
    5. Entry to Sap lumira Desktop, sign in with the user ANALISTA to access the dataset, I create visualization and history, the last step is to publish the dataset and story in SAP Lumira server, for this I sign in with the user ANALISTA but when I clic on the button PUBLISH IN SAP LUMIRA SERVER is show me this error:
Error - The dataset could not be published to SAP Lumira Server because publishing to the SAP HANA layer failed.  Reason is ''. (HDB 11009)
I searched many blogs of sap and tested with the following options but None of the above helped me to solve the problem.

    6. Another issue is when I access to Lumira server  http: // <HOSTNAME> 80 <INSTANCE> / sap / bi / launchpad / and I sign in with the user ANALISTA, I find a number of the dataset in lumira server but when I run  any for create a compose can not access   hana dataset.
    Shows me the following error
Please help me with this issues
    Thanks

    Hi John,
I also forwarded the incident to SAP and as suggested by SAP, after assigning sap.hana.xs.lm.roles::Administrator  my issue was resolved.

  • Lumira Server - Authentication Issues

    Hi all!
I just finished installing Lumira Server 1.15, following through all the config steps (http://server:port/sap/hana/xs/sqlcc/) and logging on with a user that has the sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_ANALYST role I get a list of all views that are deployed in HANA, but I cannot open a single one - the only icon I get is the "Info" icon...
I also followed all steps described in SAPNote 1823771.
What am I missing here? Thanks!
BTW, we're running on HANA Rev 73.

    Thanks Henry - this helps...
...however, if I look at section 2.3.2 of the Lumira Server User Guide (http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/vi01/en/lumS115_user_en.pdf), I don't all the icons and options mentioned there "share", "info", "delete" - I only get info, even if I access a data set that I own. So I am still confused with respect to what the benefit of SP15 is (and when to expect an enhanced version/new SP)?
Also, when I try to publish a story from Lumira or Predictive Analysis to Lumira Server I do get the following error message:
The requested operation has failed because the session on SAP Lumira™ Server appears to be invalid. (HDB 11024)
    Thanks again,
    Christian

  • Lumira Server Error

We have successfully installed Lumira Server in a DEV environment.  I am able to see Analytical views which I created from my browser but when I attempt to publish from the client I receive the following error:
Error - The dataset could not be published to SAP Lumira Server because publishing to the SAP HANA layer failed.  Reason is ''. (HDB 11009)
We followed all the steps in the guide
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/vi01/en/lumS115_user_en.pdf
We're raise a ticket but I'm just curious if anyone has seen this issue before.

I still thinking about a security issue:
Before users can publish content to SAP HANA, they must be assigned specific
privileges and roles. These roles and privileges are also required for
retrieving data from SAP HANA. Use the SAP HANA Studio application to assign
user roles and privileges. For information on administrating the SAP HANA
database and using SAP HANA Studio see SAP HANA Database – Administration Guide.
For information on user security, see the SAP HANA Security Guide (Including SAP
    HANA Database Security).
The user account used to log into the HANA system
from Lumira must be assigned to the "MODELING" role (in HANA).
    Note:
This action can only be performed by a user with ROLE_ADMIN
privileges on the SAP HANA database. When an SAP Visual Intelligence user
logs into the SAP HANA system, the internal _SYS_REPO account must:
    • Be granted the SELECT SQL Privileges.
    • Have the Grantable to others option selected on the (SAP Visual Intelligence) user's schema.
To configure _SYS_REPO for the SAP Visual Intelligence user
If an account for the Lumira user is already defined in the SAP HANA system:
    1. From the system connection in the SAP HANA Studio Navigator window, go to Catalog > Authorization > Users.
    2. Double-click the _SYS_REPO account.
    3. Under the SQL Privileges tab, click the + icon, enter the name of the user's schema, and click OK.
    4. Choose SELECT and the corresponding Yes under Grantable to others.
    5. Click Deploy or Save.
    Tip:
You can also open an SQL editor in SAP HANA Studio and run
    the following SQL statement:
GRANT SELECT ON SCHEMA <user_account_name> TO _SYS_REPO WITH GRANT OPTION
If your user has this rights, I dont have an additional idea up to now

  • SAP Lumira 1.18 - Error while publishing story to Lumira Server

    Hi,
I installed Lumira Server and did the configuration in SAP Fiori as mentioned in the blog below.
Simplified SAP Lumira Server Feature Configuration
I created following users with mentioned roles.
    LSADMIN - sap.bi.admin::BI_CONFIGURATOR and sap.bi.admin::BI_ADMIN
    LUMIRADEV - sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_ANALYST
    LUMIRADEMO - sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_CONSUMER
I logged into SAP Fiori with LSADMIN and successfully added Lumira Configuration Tile to New Group "SAP Lumira Server" and Configured all the roles for Technical user (LUMIRATECH) that has sap.bi.common::BI_TECH_USER role assigned. It was successful. Please see the screenshot below.
After this when I tried to publish a story (created using excel data) from SAP Lumira Desktop application to SAP Lumira Server with LUMIRADEV user, I am getting below error.
Do I need to give any additional privileges to LUMIRADEV/LUMIRADEMO ids to be able to create/view stories?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Abhijit

    Hi Henry,
We have SAP HANA SPS 08 Database Revision 82.
I suspect this is an issue with some HANA Authorizations. So as a random trial, I assigned MODELLING role to LUMIRADEV user and also granted SELECT rights on LUMIRADEV schema to _SYS_REPO with grant option. Post that I noticed, I could publish Stories created on HANA in Online mode to Lumira Server with out any issue but still having same issue for other data sources e.g. HANA Offline, Excel etc.
Please let me know if there are any additional rights required for LUMIRADEV user.
    Thanks,
    Abhijit

  • Lumira Server for BI Platform and Team/Edge consumption & licensing question

Hi.  I have a few questions.
    Question 1:
From my reading, I've heard that Lumira Edge/Team server may not be a part of BI-Suite License.  I read a Lumira Server ASUG Webcast recap by Tammy Powlas here (SAP Lumira Server for Teams Roadmap ASUG Webcast) over the weekend and one of the Q&A questions struck me:
Q: Is this included with the BI Suite license from SAP?
A: Lumira Server for Teams (Edge Edition) is not covered under BI Suite License. However, Lumira Server for BI Platform (RTC Planned in April) is covered under BI Suite licenses
In a separate conversation late 2014, I thought I'd heard that Lumira Team/Edge server was supposed to be usable by BI Suite licensed customers, but it sounds like I'm mistaken?
    Question 2:
Next, the second part of the statement gave me hope:
However, Lumira Server for BI Platform (RTC Planned in April) is covered under BI Suite licenses
I then looked at the Lumira Deployment Options for Departments Part 1 – ASUG Webcast by Tammy Powlas to get some more information on Lumira Server for BI Platform.  This slide gave me some hope (emphasis mine in green):
But then I see some more information a little later:
Is this slide to imply that the version without HANA (or HANA XS) for BI Platform will only really just serve as a user rights management and Lumira document repository?  And that if I want to view a Lumira document, I must still open from the Lumira Desktop client?
It was suggested I start a new discussion thread to ask this licensing question about a product that's not out yet (but the slide says it's GA so I'm still confused) so here I am with my discussion thread!
Hopefully someone can make me less confused.  I'm hoping the answer is as a BI-Suite customer that we do not have to make a decision to either invest in new Edge/Team licenses or buy HANA XS hardware to establish a beachhead of Lumira usage in our organization.  We've been struggling with promoting Lumira and the sharing piece has been the sore spot.

    Hi Michael
You are right, it is confusing...
I think it will be better to contact sales to get this explained as opposed to technical support people that monitor this SCN Space.

  • SAP Lumira Desktop - Lumira Server problem

    Hi everyone,
Since a couple of days I try to publish some reports from SAP Lumira Desktop on SAP Lumira Server. Both versions are 1.15 and SAP HANA version is rev70.
I installed Lumira Server as mentioned in installation guide. Imported package, created related users with needed roles and did define user in xs engine admin. But when I try to connect from Lumira Desktop to Lumira Server I get the error below. I also attached the error trace I found in HANA.
Unfortunately  couldn't resolve the problem and I'm not sure where to look.
    Any ideas?

  • Lumira 1.17 without HANA

    Hi All,
Need your help with a small question.
Is HANA required in my landscape if I want to share Lumira 1.17 visualizations on BI Platform?
As far as I know, HANA is required only when
    1. I want to create some visualization on the data which is residing in HANA
    2. I want to share visualizations on Lumira Server
    Please confirm.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Purnima

    Yes that is correct today.
You can also copy the visualization to clipboard (copy) and paste it, as well as to print it.
We are working on additional options for easy offline sharing - such as export but that will take some time before we can release it in the product.
