Lync 2011 for MAC and Lync 2013 Server Std

Hello,
We are using a Lync 2013 Std (single-server) as a POC.  It works fine for Windows-clients but I cannot connect using Lync 2011 for MAC from any MAC machine.
Using automatic configuration, I cannot connect to the Lync server.
Using manual configuration (I tried putting in just the server name and adding port 5061 to it, both to no avail) I keep getting 'Sign in to Lync failed.  Please verify your credentials and try again.'.
Lync server is on the latest CU version with all components, MAC clients are on update 140321.
I noticed that Lync tries to create the OC_keycontainer_username@domain, but it seems not te be created.  It flashes by and disappears again when the client fails to login.  I have imported the Lync server certificate, issued by our windows 2012
root CA, on the Mac clients and have stored it in the 'Login' container.
Does anybody know if Lync2011 for Mac is supported for use with Lync server 2013 Std?
Cheers

Hi,
To clear cached data and corrupted certificates in Lync, you can do the following steps:
First, delete the following folders:
Users/Home Folder/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.Lync
Users/Home Folder/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Microsoft Lync History
Then, delete any corrupted or cached certificates. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Open the Keychain Access certificate management utility. To do this, in Finder, click Applications, click Utilities, and then click Keychain Access. Or, search for Keychain Access by using Spotlight.
2. In the left pane, click login, and then click Certificates.
3. In the right pane, find a certificate that's named Unknown or Communications Server, select it, and then delete it.
Note: You may have to unlock your keychain by using your password.
4. Close Keychain Access.
5. Restart Lync for Mac.
You can refer to Lync Mac for Lync Server online, but similar for Lync on-premises:

  • Lync 2011 for MAC not connecting externally to On-Premise Lync 2013

    Hello,
Hopefully someone has some idea on this or a better direction for me to follow. So currently I have an issue where Lync 2011 for MAC clients will not connect when external to my On-Premise Lync 2013 servers. Everything to do with my Windows based clients
and even cell phone based client’s works just fine. It is currently only Lync 2011 for MAC which will not correct externally.
I did initially have the logon problem internally as noted by other posts online when using an internal CA certificate with Lync. But with the internal certificate imported onto the MAC when internally connected Lync 2011 will login just fine. Now in my
setup I do have a TMG server that clients are connecting to that forwards the connections onto my Lync servers when connecting externally. When I review live real time logs to see what’s connecting to the external URL for Windows based clients I can see them
connect in on port 443 no problem.
But with the MAC I don’t see any attempt from it to connect to the URL like I see with the Windows clients. Now below is what shows up in the Microsoft-Lync.log generated by the MAC. Now initially looking at the log I thought my problem was the fact when
Lync 2011 tires to connect when external that it was doing so on port 5061 which we don’t have open. So I tired entering external.mydomain.com:443 in for my external server in the setup.
And while rechecking the log after doing so shows like it is now trying to connect on port 443. When reviewing TMG I again see no connection attempt by the MAC to connect to the Lync external url or on port 443. Further research so far into the problem has
come up empty on the subject. And most other cases where people report problems connecting externally they are using some form of online service like Office 365. So at this point I am not even sure if Lync 2011 for MAC is supposed to work externally with On-Premise
Lync 2013 deployments or not. If anyone has an thought’s or idea’s please share them as at this point I am stuck on this issue.

    Hi Nicholas Sayewich,
I tested in my lab and without any problem.
I also use TMG as Reverse Proxy and without configuring SRV records (My ISP don’t support SRV), after importing the root certificate onto MacBook, I can sign into Lync everywhere(internal
    and external).
Please make sure that the certificate is set up to
    Always Trust .

  • Contact pictures not displaying in Lync 2011 for Mac

Using Lync 2011 for Mac I'm not seeing any contact pictures (including my own), though I can see them when signed into Lync 2013 on a Windows PC (7, 8.1, and 10 Technical Preview for Enterprises).
My company uses O365 hosted Exchange and on premise Lync Server.
I'm using OSX 10.10.1 (on a 2014 Air) and Lync for Mac 2011 14.0.10 (141024). I have AutoUpdate set to automatically check weekly and I manually checked (button at the bottom of Microsoft AutoUpdate) so I believe I'm running the current release.
Logging in with another user account on my same Mac/Lync install has the same issue
Another user account on their own Mac also has the same issue
It's also worth noting that the same issue arises when signing into Lync for Android and iOS as well, but not on Windows (Lync 2013).
Any thoughts? Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
Also, my apologies for putting this question in this subforum, but I didn't see any main forum for Office for Mac or Lync 2011 or Lync for Mac at all. If there is such here on technet, please drop the link here and I'll move the thread.

    Hi abacus02,
On mobile, you have no control over how photos are displayed. Lync Mobile can only display photos retrieved from Active Directory or SharePoint, it cannot display a photo from a URL. If a user
is displaying a photo from a URL and there is a photo in AD, it will display the photo from AD. If there is no photo in AD, it will display no photo at all.
About Lync for Mac, as I know Lync 2011 for Mac does not support high resolution images. Only in Lync 2013,
In Lync 2013, when the user’s photo experience has been migrated to Exchange 2013 and they are using Lync 2013, high resolution photos can be used.
So please tell us where the photos are stored, we need more information to troubleshoot the issue.
    Best regards,
    Eric

I have tried all of the suggestions I could find on the internet already and nothing has worked. I have even tried the RTM, SP2, and 14.07 version. I would try other versions but can't find them anywhere to download
Here's the kicker - they have Lync 2010 (all latest updates installed). If I log into our environment which is Lync 2013 using a test account it works just fine. Also if I log in using a test account from a different environment that also has Lync 2010 it
also works just fine. So it seems it is some kind of interaction between the client and their server environment that is causing the crash and not something locally on the client machine. None of the logging I have done shows anything of value.
Does anyone have any ideas why it would work using other environments but not this one?

Did you mean that you can use the same Lync 2011 for Mac on the same computer to sign in successfully to connect other Lync Server?
That is exactly what I mean. On the same computer using the same client I can successfully connect to two other Lync server systems and it doesn't crash at all. So what on the Lync server of this one system would cause it to crash?
Please try to create a new user account, then login with the new user account, sign in with Lync 2011 for Mac again.
I tried that as well and I got the same problem with the client crashing right after I sign in.

Can you add the contact by searching the SIP address?
Please check if the files GalContacts.db and GalContacts.db.idx are updated in Lync users’ profile folder.
I guess these files are not updated.
If this issue happens with several Lync users, you can copy these two files form users’ profile folder to replace the ones in problem Lync users’ profile folder to confirm that.
Try to run the command Set-CsClientPolicy –Identity -AddressBookAvailability WebSearchOnly, then sign out Lync for Mac and sign in, check if you can search the contacts.

  • Lync 2011 for Mac - "sign in failed, service not available"

I can't sign on to Lync 2011 for Mac at all. I'm running OS X 10.7.2, Lync 14.0.1 (so yes, I've installed the patch) and regardless of what else I do I get the message:
"Sign in to Microsoft Lync failed because the service is not available or you may not be connected to the internet."
Obviously I'm connected to the internet, I've checked the firewall settings and the 3 other troubleshooting articles on the Mac Lync site.  I've deleted the "unknown" certificate from Keychain that some people talked about being the source of their
issues, but no luck.  What's going on here?

    Hi amoss,
    Any update?
It may due to Root CA is not trusted.
You should trust the correct Root CA in the Keychain Access on your Mac machine.
    In addition, provide this
troubleshooting guide for reference. Hope helps.

i recently upgraded to Lion and i find that my computer is running slow and applications are crashing.  For example I have Word 2011 for Mac and it crashes all the time I end up losing my work.  It often happens when I'm in class using notebook and when I press record my computer starts thinking and it freezes.
Also, I feel that it overheats often and my battery runs out pretty quickly.  I had the macbook (black) and this never happened before.  I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if there is something with my computer.I bought my computer summer 2010, I don't think this should be happening. Please Help......

This is exactly what keeps happening to mine too.  I was at a conference taking notes, and I was
using the Notebook template, and doing some audio recording simultaneously.  About 3 hours into the conference (not consistently recording, but on and off with the sessions) my file wouldn't save anymore, saying something like "File cannot be modified while in use with another program" and "Invalid file name" when I would go back into my folder to look for it). I tried installing some updates from Microsoft, and when I restarted, I was at least able to open my old notes again, and so far it looks like the audio was working.  However, today at the conference, the same thing happened again, but I wasn't actively recording any audio (though after I had copy and pasted my second file of notes into the original, I went back to using it after re-naming it).
Does the crash happen to you under similar cirucumstances?  The update might help a little, but it is definitely not the solution.  Does anyone have any solutions?  Lion shouldn't be this buggy... I moved to Mac to get away from the garbage of bugs and compatibility issues...

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac and SSLv3 on Exchange 2010

I have a few Apple MacBook users with Outlook 2011, and connecting back to my Exchange 2010 server (essentially via OWA). Currently it all works fine.
With the POODLE vulnerability, it is recommended that SSLv3 be disabled in Exchange (at Windows 2008 O/S server level), and instead fall back on TLS. Does
anybody have any experience with Mac users connecting to Exchange, disabling all SSL versions (SSLv3, v2, etc) on Exchange, and the Mac user still being able to connect?
I am not able to find much on the web, but I have seen a few people say that Outlook 2011 for Mac does not support TLS. IF you go in to the settings for
email, it does only have an option for "use SSL" and does not mention TLS.
Does anyone have any further insight? Thanks

We have had no issues disabling it with both Exch 2010 and Exch 2013 and Mac Users.

  • Syncing contact photos between Outlook 2011 for Mac and the rest

Hello, I installed Office for Mac 2011 and when it synced the contacts (through Exchange), most of the contact photos now no longer show in OWA or in Outlook 2013 from my Windows PC's. They are not lost: In Outlook 2013 (for windows) they appear instead
under "Notes", in the form of a thumbnail jpeg. On my Mac, however, the photos show up correctly. None of my windows accounts (e.g., windows phone) now show any photos any longer. I tried some troubleshooting: I deleted all my contacts from everything,
and imported them back to Outlook for Mac and synced them, but the photos still show only under "notes" in the Windows accounts.
How can I solve the issue? I see the same problem reported by other people, but I am not aware of a resolution.

    Hi,
I think we can go to the Microsoft Office for Mac forum:

  • Using Outlook 2011 for mac and syncing blackberry very slow

I just bought 2 pcs of Mcabook pro. one for me and second for my cousin. we both have same office usage.i have installed office 2011. i use contacts / events / tasks of outlook and sync it with my blackberry curve. previously i was using Windows OS and i am so much used to it with its easy functionalities. Since last 15 days i have not done any work in my office as all time i am just involved in setting up one or another thing in my Macbook. i am really so much fed up and frustrated that i am thinking of switching back to Windows. i have some current issues like
Airport disconnects automatically anytime. after then i have to restart the system that is the only way. it shows as connected but i dont find my home network or internet. after restarting it works !!! it happens 4-5 times in a day...
Sync with blackberry is very slow. i do have Approx 2500 contacts / 300 tasks and 10-15 events. but it takes approx 10 times more time than i was doing with Windows.
in the blackberry desktop manager there is only one option of syncing i.e. Two way sync. what if i only want to transfer data from Macbook to Blackberry or from Blackberry to Macbook?
data sync is not perfect also. every time some entries goes missing.
i want to use ical for events and tasks.. but i dont find List view for events which is not convinient.
i have my e mails in Outlook 2011 for mac. what if i want to transfer my mail to mail for mac?
i will be obliged if anyone can help and show that my INR 70000.00 * 2 is not wasted... Frustrated Really...

    Good luck with that.

  • Using outlook 2011 for Mac and iCloud

    Hello all,
I am starting a new job and the office uses Outlook 2011 for Mac. I am looking for a calendar solution so that I can use the invitation features in Outlook, but have my calendar available on my iPhone and iPad.
I have searched on these forums and it seems that Outlook 2011 is not compatible with iCloud. So for a workaround, I wonder if there is a good (or, better yet, excellent) calendar app for iPhone and iPad that will sync with the Outlook calendar on my Mac?
btw all devices are running the latest OS.
    Thanks!

Thanks, I had come to the same conclussion!
So now I will just use ical.....
How do I merge all my calendars into one calendar?
Copy all events on to just one calendar and use that. Remember to put it in the iCloud account and the On My Mac account.

  • Sync Outlook 2011 for mac and gmail agenda

    Hello,
I have problem when I try to synchronize outlook 2011 calendar and gmail agenda.
I do it by synchronizing outlook 2011 (for mac) calendar with iCal and after I synchronize iCal with google agenda.
When I create a new category for exemple project under outlook and add event to this category, it creates a new calendar project under iCal in the "On my Mac" header. that's ok.
When I create a new calendar named project under google agenda, I can add it under iCal in the "google" header. that's ok.
but thuis two calendar (on my mac and in google header) are'nt synchronized in iCal even if they have the same name.
Do you know a mean to synchronize the calendar ? thanks in advance

two ways of doing this, you could try http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2452489, or drag each individual calendar event into iCal. You can't do multiple items has to be one... at... a... time.

  • Keeping Gmail email addresss and using Outlook 2011 for Mac and Exchange

    Hi,
we use gmail for email at present with Outlook on a Mac. Having found that contacts and calendars cannot be synched between Oulook for Mac and Gmail I want to use exchange as a means of getting this sync working between my iPhne, iPad and OSX calendar and
    contacts.
We actually want to continue with our gmail addresses (because it's too painful to change to anything else). I understand that gmail can forward messages to Exchange and presumably to be read in Outlook for Mac. How do we use Outlook for Mac and Exchange
to send emails such that they are sent using our gmail email address.
I.e people are not aware of what is going on in the background - they sent to our gmail address and receive a reply from the gmail address
    Many thanks
    Mike

    Hi,
As the issue happen only for Lync Mac client, so it should be the of Lync Mac client.
You can try to perform a Clean Uninstall for Mac Lync client and then test again.
