M505-4940 S/PDIF Trouble
Hello all,
Toshiba says this laptop has spdif digital audio through the headphone jack using a standard 1/8" jack. I bought a mono rca to 1/8" adapter to connect the laptop to a receiver. When i open the realtek hd audio manager it doesnt show and digital audio ports. when i plug my rca cable into the laptop the analog input lights up. Do i have to turn on the spdif? Am i using the wrong cable? I am also running windows 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I don't know about this specific laptop model, but I own a Toshiba Qosmio X500 and the digital output in my notebook is not digital COAXIAL, but digital OPTICAL. This kind of connector is called TOSLINK, because "TOS"hiba invented it in the 80's. So (and I'm NOT completely sure about this) it's likely that all Toshiba laptops use this kind of connector instead of a digital coaxial one. Try something like this:

to connect your laptop to your receiver. Although it's fairly obvious, I'll say it nonetheless: your receiver must have an optical input . If it doesn't have one, you will need to buy an external soundcard that has a coaxial output (sorry about that...).

Troubles importing and linking media in CS5.5
I am using CS5.5 and having trouble importing media. Importing .mpg or .VOB files (~30mins length, 1GB size) and both cause Prem to hang and not respond. I can leave it for half an hour and still no progress. However, when using a different computer, no troubles.
This is a clean install of CS5.5. Have cleared media cache.

I have been unable to sync my Palm m505 running Palm OS 4.1 for over a year. I am running Palm Desktop 4.1.4 on a Sony VGN-FS920 running XP Pro.
I have contacted Palm Support multiple times regarding this issue and sited an article that I found on their site indicating that this is a hardware related issue from Palm. They claim they are sending me a "reset" card by I have yet to receive anything from them in the last 5 months.
Can anyone tell me if there is any other way I can get all of my data off of my Palm m505 to another Palm device since I can't sync to the desktop? Is it possible to beam entire categories from one Palm to another?
Do you have any suggestions of how I can resolve this sync issue?

New cradles offer enhanced ESD protection.
A small percentage of our m500 and m505 handheld users have reported synchronization issues - they are unable to perform the HotSync® function. The issue is electrostatic discharge (ESD).
Here's what happens: you sometimes build up excess static electricity (hair stands on end, clothes cling, you get a shock when you slide across your car seat), and if it isn't dissipated into, say, a door knob or metal cabinet, then it's possible that at the time you place the handheld into the cradle, a discharge of static electricity can occur, which in some situations can scramble the synchronization software. When this happens, neither the handheld nor the cradle is damaged, but the synchronization software needs to be reset by Palm.
Palm handhelds and HotSync cradles meet CE standards (8KV) for protection against electrostatic discharge. The newly designed “E” and “H” cradles include enhanced static electricity buffers. You can get one free if you own a Palm m500 or m505 handheld that did not ship with an enhanced cradle. Please contact Palm Technical support for additional information. [SOLVED] Trouble blacklisting on-board audio device
I'm aware that this topic has been well documented. Unfortunately I'm still having trouble so hopefully someone can give me a hand.
I'm trying to completely blacklist the on-board sound card in my PC as I have a dedicated sound card for digital audio that works great. The problem I'm encountering is that the system detects two audio devices and sometimes loads them in a different order. This causes problems for most of the applications I use.
So far I have blacklisted the pcspkr module in /etc/rc.conf.

Before I blacklisted pcspkr, my optical S/PDIF would not work at all. It works great now but ALSA still detects two audio devices. For example, in VLC audio settings under "device" my options are (default, HDANVidia:ALC1200 Analog (hw:0,0), HDANVidia...(hw:0,1), ...(hw:0,2), C-Media CMI8762: C-Media PCI DAC-ADC (hw:1,0), ...(hw:1,2). Sometimes C-Media is hw:0 and sometimes it is hw:1. I would like to remove Nvidia HD audio completely.

Hey all, have a new Mac Book, and loving it. However, trying to get an older model PDA (Palm m505) to sync with it. Having trouble. Computer isn't even recognizing that the docking staion is plugged in. Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

Are you attempting to synchronize your m505 handheld organizer using the Palm Desktop, using iSync or using the Missing Sync for Palm OS?
Troubleshooting your configuration requires an understanding of your basic configuration.
It is doubtful that your MacBook fails to recognize the presence of the USB docking station. It does not show up in the System Profiler unless it is actively communicating with your computer, and it cannot do that if your device has not been added successfully using the HotSync Manager, iSync or the Missing Sync. So, put that aside for the time being, describe your configuration, what and how you have installed your synchronization software, and exactly what error message or messages you receive when you attempt to add or configure your device, configure a conduit, or when you initiate a synchronization event using the HotSync button on your cable or cradle. -
I just bought a mini-dvi-to-video adapter so I could use my TV as a display. More specifically, so I could use my VCR to record what's on my Mac's display. I also bought a headphone-to-composite cable adapter. I'm using a double-headed (is that one male or female? It's male, isn't it?) composite cable from the video adapter to the VCR. The problem is, it doesn't show up. The sound plays (and records) fine, but the video neither shows up on the TV screen nor records onto the tape. What's the problem? Both adapters are Dynex, my computer's a Late 2006 iMac (I think), the cable is WireLogic, and both the VCR and TV are Sony. Please help, thanks.
So if you eliminate the double headed splitter and plug straight into the TV, does the video still not show up?
FYI, there have been reports in the past of trouble with the Dynex video adapter. You may need to purchase the Apple OEM one. The Dynex may lack having a ROM inside of it with a proper EDID in the ROM. This is crucial to the Mac. -
Trouble Using Apple's Video Adapter
I am having trouble getting my eMac to work with the Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter. There are no directions telling you how to use it or to even get it to work. I want to use it to import videos from my Sony Hi8 camcorder and was told by Apple's Live help that this is what I needed to import video and make DVDs. How do I get this adapter to work?

I think the adapter you have is for video output, not input. To input video to the eMac you need a firewire connection. Sony cameras typically have a 4 wire connector which is smaller than the 6 wire plug on the mac, so you need a cable that has a 4 wire connector on one end and a 6 wire connector on the other. Cameras often (but not always) come with such a cable. You also need a digital camcorder- not just Hi8., although Sony does make cameras that will do both. If you camera does not have digital output, you need a convertor box. -

I am having trouble with my MacBook Air 13 inch June 2012 MacBook Air5, 2 4GB RAM details below in Etresoft report. I recently upgraded to Yosemite and am having system trouble. My computer crashes and I have to force quit to restart. When using webmail there is a black screen for a split second between pages. This did not happen before. I am worried that it is not running properly and perhaps I need to revert to the previous operating system. I only have a MacBook Air and no need to share images between a tablet or phone so I did not need the new photo sharing software of Yosemite. I wonder if I don't have enough RAM to run it? I did not run time machine before I made the upgrade as I did not realise the significance of an upgrade as not very Mac literate. Any advice on whether my system is in danger... most appreciated! I am writing a book and making a back up but this machine is my lifeline and my work is conducted through it. It ran perfectly before... the Yosemite upgrade has perhaps highlighted some problems and it has unnerved me!

Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway. -

I am having trouble printing to an Epson XP600. We have replaced the printer and we are still having the same problem. When I try to print from Excel, only the color prints. Any suggestions?

As it says above, i have been having a lot f trouble with my ipod classic and the latest itunes update, i was unable to sync songs or anything to it and have tried every conceivable 'fix' i could find. i have run an itunes diagnostic and the results are posted below. a major problem is that when i try and view my ipod through my computer it displays nothing at all on the ipod, no files or anything, this may be the problem but i have no idea how it has happened or how i could resolve it.
This ipod holds huge sentimental value and i am loathe to buy a new one! If anybody can help it is greatly appreciated, than kyou in advanced.

I have a 19 digit code that i had to scratch to get, a 30 digit number under the bar code, and a 6 digit authorization code that seems to be completely pointless. I started off putting in the 19 digit code with all my other information, but it wanted 24. so I filled in the rest with zeros. Hello! Need help! Having trouble accessing photos from Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0, I had a free trial but never registered the program because I was not using it. The other day I was taking pics off a Canon camera, & they automatically loaded into that site. I selected cancel several times, but the program did not respond. Once they completely loaded in, the program asked if I wanted to erase photos from the camera, I selected no but it started erasing them, I was able to stop it but 44 were erased off the camera. I can see the photos in the program but can not access them since I never registered. I tried to register now but received email saying that program has expired. So how do I get my photos? Please help! The photos are not mine, I was loading them from a friends camera, & they are important vacation memories to her! Thanks! Ruth
When you click on one of the thumbnails do you see a blank window where the full sized image? Or do you see this in the window:
In either case make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Trouble Opening Illustrator and Photoshop CS2??
When opening Adobe Illustrator CS2 I receive a Windows Box showing Adobe Illustrator: Illustrator.exe - Application Error The instruction at "0x003c197d" referenced memory at "0x000000000". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.
I am also having trouble accessing Adobe Photoshop CS2. When I open the program it simply stays in one sequence as a loop and does not completely open.32 bit Windows XP
I also tried uninstalling and re-installing the full program and it still has the same problem.
I even checked my ram by moving a single memory card from one slot to the next to see if that was the problem but still the same error messages. -

Searching on the web, most results I found lead to this page, where it is said that the problem is due to badly tuned overcurrent protection, and advocated that unplugging and switching off the computer for a little while gets things back into normal. This does not really work for me; the problem seems to occur more randomly, unfortunately with high probability (my camera is available after less than one boot out of ten).
I tried to ensure that the ehci-hcd module is loaded at boot with the ignore-oc option (with a file in /etc/module-load.d/), to no avail.
I also wrote a script which alternatively removes and reloads the ehci-pci driver until my device is found in lsusb. It is sometimes helpful, but usually not. And even when my device is found that way, it can only be used for a while before disappearing again.
Anyway, such a hack is unacceptable... So, my questions are:
is it indeed related to overcurrent protection ?
is there anything else I can try ?
should I file somewhere an other of the numerous bug reports about "unable to enumerate USB device" already existing ?
If of any importance, I am running linux 3.15.7, because at the time I installed my system, I couldn't get the hybrid graphic card Intel/AMD working under 3.16.

Hi, I did a basic application. I just show an image and it works perfectly with the J2ME Wireless ToolKit. However, when I create the package, convert it and send it on my palm, everything is ok, except the image. It won't appair. I get an exception

Why do my videos stop playing when I change them from "Home Videos" to "Music Videos"?
