Mabook air lemon - how do I resolve it?

I am trying to find out what to do about my recently purchased macbook air. I bought it on march 7, 2010. On march 18, it would no longer turn on. I tried leaving it off for a day. Plugging it into a different location, etc. I spent time online to find solutions. No success. So, on march 20 i drove 2 hours (each way) to the nearest apple store and was advised that it needed repair, which would be 3-5 days. Then I drove 2 hours home.
After one week, I called, but was advised that it was still being repaired. after 9 days (march 29), I got a call to say that it was ready.
So, I drove 2 hours to pick it up. and two hours home. While I was able to turn it on, when I attempted to install programs on it, the computer would give me a blank screen. So, I went to a friends house and searched online for solutions. none worked. So, I called apple technical support. After a few hours of trying, they advised me that I would need to take it back to an apple store.
So, I drove 2 hours to the nearest apple store. When I took it back to the apple store, they suggested a replacement. After 10 days of waiting, I called to get an update on the status of my replacement and was advised that there was no update. Two days later, I received acall to say that, unfortunately, a replacement had not yet been sent and that I would have to come back into the store before another could be sent.
I asked if a refund would be possible and was told that it was not possible. Why not? I bought a brand new macbook air on March 7. It is now April 13 and this computer has been in some state of service for 26 of these days (and counting). I have no indication of when I might get a computer that functions. Who can help me? Who do I need to speak to? This has been a really difficult experience. All I want is a computer that works. And if I cant get that, I would like my money back. Please, if you read this, HELP ME!

We're all just your fellow users here and cannot help you directly. I would suggest that you call the Apple technical support phone number and ask to be connected to someone in Apple Customer Relations. When you are connected with a Customer Relations representative, as I presume you will be, explain the situation to that person and ask for assistance in getting a resolution. Be prepared to provide original order dates, case numbers, and other such information.
Good luck.

  • I cannot close my mail on Mac Air. How do I resolve the problem?

I cannot close my mail on mac air. There is a message appearing "the Message Design" How do I resolve the problem?.

FYI - clicking the red dot will not Quit an application that can have more than one window open. Mail is such an app. So are Safari, Pages, Numbers, Keynote. The convention for quitting Macintosh Applications is either command-Q on the keyboard or, if you're a mouser - File->Quit. On the other hand System Preferences, Calculator, DiskUtility and Face time are examples of single window Apps where "closing the window" Quitis the program.
The confusion is more common among WinDUHows to Macintosh converts.

  • HT4356 I can't get air print to work from my iPhone 4. I've verified everything. Th phone gets WIFI from AT&T. Computer's WIFI through Netgear, Charter.  How do I resolve this?

I can't get air print to work from my iPhone 4. I have newest phone operating system, and the phone is air print enabled.
The phone gets WIFI from AT&T.  My computer, to which my printer is wirelessly connected, gets WIFI from Charter Communications and a Netgear router.
That must be the problem.  How do I resolve that?

For Airprint to work your iPhone and printer must be on the same local network. Your printer must support Airprint (see here for list: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356).
Can you connect your iPhone to the Netgear router WiFi?

  • How can I resolve installation errors DF024 & DF037 for CS5.5 on Mac?

Please help. I've gone through the forum posts, as well as searched the Internet, and find the matter daunting. Have tried to implement a solution and may have caused more problems. Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    PROBLEM:
I am unable to uninstall or reinstall both Dreamweaver 5.5 and CS 5.5.
Continually get extensive number of the following errors:
ERROR DF024 Unable to preserve original file...
ERROR DF024 Unable to move file…
ERROR DF037 Unable to delete directory…
    SYSTEM CONFIG:
    Adobe CS 5.5
    Mac OS 10.7.4
    MacBook Pro 2.5 GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB Ram
BACKGROUND (History appears chronologically in 4 parts.):
CS 5.5 was already installed and functioning fine, then upgraded from OS 10.6 to 10.7. Noticed issues with elements not appearing in DISPLAY VIEW of Dreamweaver, but was correct in CODE VIEW and BROWSER PREVIEW.
Tried to reinstall and uninstall Dreamweaver 5.5 several times using the CS 5.5 installation disk. Consistently got DF024 errors. NOTE: After first attempt. installer marked Dreamweaver as already installed, but not the others. Using the Finder, the Dreamweaver directory appears to be empty unless the files are now hidden. Nothing regarding the application can be seen in the Trash. Also unable to launch any other Adobe CS apps.

SLConfig.xml appeared to be an alias pointing to a file of the same name in the Mac version. Went to original file, made a new alias and replaced the corrupted file.
Then rebooted system and relaunched CSS5.5 Installer with all apps selected. Program started and ran for about 15 min before reporting more errors, now with error DF037 as well. Did this again with the same results except the DF037 error did not reappear. It appears the the problems are mostly in two directories:
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles/
    and
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/ssc/DesignSuitePremium-CS5.5-Win-GM/
but I am not sure how to best resolve this.
Below are selected portions of the most recent (and VERY verbose) error log. To conserve space, log entries in which the same error is repeated are truncated. (Only the first one and last repetitions are copied here; the others have been omitted and are replaced with highlighted ellipses [i.e., "..."].) Please let me know if you would like the complete log report.

    Hi Sharad,
    Thank you for your reply.
Since my initial posting here, I've attempted a few more installations. Each time a file from /Library/Application Support/Adobe/ssc/ would appear with the same error DF024, and it was always an alias. So each time I would replace the old alias with a new manually created alias pointing to the same original as the old alias. Sure enough, when I relaunched the installer,  error DF024 with the old alias no longer appeared, but a new error DF042 with another alias from the same directory did appear. Then I manually replaced  all aliases found in the /Library/Application Support/Adobe/ssc/ directory with new ones I created.
Upon rebooting and relaunching the installer program, the program did not stop at around 12% as consistently it did up until now. Instead, it progressed to 80% before it stopped and reported a huge number of new errors. Most of them pertain to the inability to roll back the installation it had attempted. No files from /Library/Application Support/Adobe/ssc/ appeared in the new log report.
To gain a better understanding of the logs, I downloaded AdobeSupportAdvisor and tried using it, but it referred me to online solutions that weren't relevant to my situation (i.e., one mentions Photoshop CS4 and I've never installed CS4).
I also tried following the articles from the Adobe knowledgebase:
    cspid_84451: Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6
which is fine if you only have a few errors, and
    cspid_83481: Installation, launch log errors | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CCM
    which doesn't list error DF024.
At this point I've decided to not not make anymore attempts without some expert guidance.
The log file seem too large to post here. If you would like review the log, I can perhaps post it on www.pastebin.com unless you can suggest a better way. Please let me know.

Occasionally, a browser window may pop up with a scam message. Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus, and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. Most of these scammers, if you actually call the number, will ask you to install software giving them remote control over your computer. Do not do this either. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Though you will probably have to quit Safari, you can first try closing the tab by pressing Command + W. Sometimes, however, these pop-ups will not go away by attempting to close the tab, nor by clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.
    None of this Worked!
If pressing Command + W does not work, and force quitting Safari and restarting the application with the Shift key held down does not get rid of the pop-up you will have to reset Safari. Normally, this can be done by launching Safari, then in the menu bar, going to Safari > Reset Safari. However, most pop-ups of this variety will block access to many of the drop-down menus in the menu bar. You will need to locate a file on the computer and move it to the trash. Make sure you quit Safari first (force quit if necessary).
To start, open Finder. The press Command + Shift + G, or in the menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder. Type the following file path:
    ~/Library/Preferences
Look for a file named com.apple.Safari.plist, and drag it to the trash. Then restart your Mac. After it reboots, try launching Safari. A new preferences file should have been automatically created, so no more action is required on your part, and the pop-up should now be gone.

I've had Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for some time, but yesterday it stopped working and I started having an 'Adobe Acrobat has stopped working' error. It then tells me to Close the Program.

Thanks Pat. I was able to resolve the problem.
OS is Windows 7 Pro, Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.0.07.
I went into the Properties file where I identified that Users only had Read & Execute and Read properties, I changed properties for Everyone to Full Control. That fixed the problem.
I don't know how the properties got changed to just Read & Execute, but there had been an automatic update the night before.

I have a Color Nook. Recently it was updated automatically. Since the update I can no longer enjoy reading the library books I once could. I used  Overdrive and Adobe Digital Editions to access my county library in the past but can no longer access it.. I get an error message of E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY. Apparently I have lost authorization to the AdobeID server.
How do I resolve this problem?

  • I have recently copied my iTunes to a new computer using the instructions from Apple site, via an external drive. My iPod will not sync on the new computer. The option to sync automatically is greyed out and it won't let me set it. How do I resolve?

I have recently installed iTunes on a new Windows 8 laptop and copied from my old XP system using an external drive. This all went ok. The problem is that i can't get my iPod classic to sync on the new laptop. I did a factory reset and re-install. It still won't sync. When I hit the 'sync' icon it does nothing. In the Options screen the option to automatically sync is greyed out and doesn't allow me to enter anything in the box. How can i resolve this?

You need iTunes on the computer. There is no iTunes for your phone. See:

  • How do I resolve error message "mapi was unable to load aplzod.dll"? Outlook2010 on Win7

Attempts to open Outlook calendar files (apparently located) on iCloud result in the error message "MAPI was unable to load the information service C:\PROGRA~2\COMMON~1\Apple\Internet Services\APLZOD.dll". Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured."
I am running Outlook 2010 on Windows 7. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes with no apparent effect. Is this a problem with iTunes or Outlook, how do I resolve it?

That's part of my problem - I was getting the error message when I tried to click on iCloud in the Calendar portion of Outlook 2010. I don't know where it was generated (iCloud, iTunes, or as an add-in to Outlook).
After my original post I tried restoring my computer to a date when I knew this worked, the restoration worked, and I can access my calendar. So that problem resolved itself.
I do have another question, but I'll post it separately. Thanks for your response.
