Mac being unable to sever connections and I can't access secure databases
Recently my university library underwent a security rehaul, since then I have been unable to access secure databases to do research for papers and the like. After resetting my browser, emptying my cache, and shutting down my computer, I am unable to sever my old connection to the library page.
The weird thing was I was in a chat with a librarian at the school at the time, and it never signed off even when my computer was shut down...

Mac osx. Wifi suddenly gone and I can't turn it on again. Bluetooth connection to my iPhone has also gone.
Try getting a diagnostic check
System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
Unlock the padlock
Locations: Automatic
Highlight Airport and/or Ethernet
Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button. -

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. -

HELP!!no, just a usb mouse. but I found an old usb bluetooth hardware. this made it possible for me to make it work. but as soon as I remove the hardware it says "no bluetooth available"! I re-istalled mountain lion but still the same problem.
additionally I deleted/reset the PRAM. still the same problem. -
When plugging in an iPad in Apple Configurator, it is not being read under USB Connected so I can't update it. The iPhoto window opens up and reads the photos on the iPad, so it is connecting to the computer. Earlier today I wasn't having any problems. I have shut down the iPad and the computer and started over, but that didn't help. Any ideas on how to get the system to read the iPad so I can update the apps on it?
Hi, is the problem just to update your apps on your iPad? Here is what you should check. Is the iTunes on your computer updated to the latest version? Does your iPad needs to be updated? Do you have enough storage on your iPad to do the update? On your device is your iCloud back up checked?
Go to Settings - iCloud - Backup/Storage - see if its checked, and try unchecking it before connecting it to the computer.

If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked. I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. I sell phones for a living and this happens a lot

My iTunes 11.0 (mac) has a black background colour and I can not see all of the information for each song. How do I change the background colour in iTunes 11.0 (mac) so I can see check boxes etc. My download window shows no information, it is entirely black.

Someone else in the forum told me how to do this. If you have Onyx on your system then select Parameters, iTunes and turn off high contrast mode. If you don't have Onyx, I'd suggest getting it. It is freeware and used to help maintain your system. Good luck

I have a i mac os x 10.8.5 and i can't get my Panasonic camera to upload my videos. MY camera is a DMC-ZS10 somone said something about a firewire port to instead of usb port
There have been more than a few similar questions about this, as iPhoto does not handle the video files created by this camera (it would appear)
Although some users nearly two years ago were told to try Handbrake application and that could be used to create MP4 which then could be used in iPhoto or iMovie.
Not sure how valid that chain would be to follow, now.
You may be able to import straight into iMovie.
MPEG-4, AVCHD are files it creates.
If not you may need a file conversion.
{The camera in question appears to only offer USB ports
so a FireWire cable would be worthless in this situation.}
Although I have a 'video clip option' in one of my digital
still-frame DSLR cameras, I have never needed it.

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try to launch one of the problem apps. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Safari and iTunes having problems accessing secure sites
I've been having problems with iTunes not being able to access the iTunes Store. I can browse the store but can not add anything to my shopping cart. I decided it was time to see if Safari was having problems with secure sites and sure enough I discovered that it can not access secure sites either. The only way I've been able to access secure sites is via Firefox.
A typical scenerio is that I can not log onto my Apple ID. As soon as I click on the "sign in ID" link I get a pop-up stating that a secure connection to store.apple.com can not be established.
So far I've tried clearing the Safari cache and deleting site keys from my stored key chains. Nothing helps.
I'm running Safari 1.3.1 and iTunes 4.9.Can anyone help?
