Mac cursor disappeared. OS Lion 10.7.2

I am having this problem for few days now. It happened when I was watching a stream video in full screen mode, then I move to another screen (3-finger swipe) to work on something else and the cursor disappeared. It's fine when I am not waching in full screen mode.
I have the latest os version 10.7.2. Flash player auto-date turn on
I tried to restart, and the problem still exists.
Please help.

Tks Sig.Yup I've tried both ports..same issue.I'll drop it off tmrw (I dont even have it for a week) n am quite dissapointed. What puzzled me is that the large external disk (500gb) showed on the disk utility on mine n wouldnt mount but that same disk worked fine with another macbook pro running 10.7.2 as well

This happens on MAC OS Lion X on Firefox (not Safari). I never noticed this on PC in any browser. Can anyone help me?

Update: '''It works fine when I selected private browsing in Firefox.'''

  • My cursor disappears, and now Photoshop crashes in Mountain Lion

Apple, apple, apple! PLEASE fix the obvious bugs in Mountain Lion. I am a professional using Photoshop on a Mac for the last 20 years, and now your operating system has me and MANY OTHERS in despair becasue we can't work. Lots of professionals in despair on the Adobe site.
Adobe has built to your specs, and now you have bugs. Please fix them as a matter of priority. Apparently buying the newest Photoshop - CS6 - doesn't fix this either.
    1. Cursor disappears when using brushes, and changing the size of the brush. This persistent problem makes it impossible to work with brushes - like a moron is stealing your bursh every minute, rendering it invisible.
    2. Upon deleting my Photoshop preferences, it was briefly fixed, then returned.
    3. I tired uninstalling , then shutting down and restarting, then reinstalling Photoshop - now the whole program crashes - apparently I have discovered ANOTHER known bug in Mountian Lion. Here's a quote from an Adobe employee - at least they will talk to me -
"that's another issue -- and a bug in the OS code It was trying to draw a control, and failed when it tried to get the font size information -- we've seen that OS bug before, but I didn't realize it was still a problem in 10.8."
So now my 1,000 dollar software is rendered useless on the OS I just paid for.
Not good enough Apple. This is your sutuff up, you should fix this as a matter of urgency.

same problem here. Mountain Lion is terrible with Photoshop and Pro Tools.
apple, please listen and fix these issues or give us back Snow Leopard.
You can go back to Snow Leopard if you wish. It is still available. Adobe are responsible for their own products and compatability, Apple are responsible for theirs. In saying that, I have had no issues with Adobe CS4 or 5 nor 6 with either Lion nor Mountain Lion. Perhaps you need to uninstall CS and reinstall.

  • Since installing Mac Mavericks all my friends with Macs and I have problems with the cursor disappearing, only in Firefox, Safari is fine...

I have stopped using Firefox as nothing I have done has fixed this problem. I have tried shutting down Firefox and rebooting it, I cleared all my add-ons and then added adblock back (that's the only one) but it still doesn't work. I've deleted large files so that I have more space - I can't think of anything else that will work. I have spoken to four of my friends with Macs and they are all having the same problem with Firefox since Mavericks.

Hi thanks very much for your reply. I did a few things like delete my add-ons and I don't have the problem of the disappearing cursor (sounds like a Sherlock Holmes story) any more but it seems to have been a mac issue as there were many complaints on the Apple forums of the cursor disappearing since the Mavericks OS and not just in Firefox but in multiple programs. Looks like they've fixed it somehow!

  • Word 2011 for Mac Book pro - I have found that my cursor disappears sometimes when I click on a toolbar function. I found out it is a bug, that the Mac loses 'focus'. I can correct it temporarily by clicking on Format - Font - Cancel. Any info?

I have Word 2011 on a Mac Book Pro and have had problems with a dissapearing cursor - it makes editing tricky
After googling it I found out that there is a bug where the Mac loses focus if you click away from the document - it also does this with italics according to other users.
I had a play with it and found out that when I click on the toolbar in a document where this happens, the cursor disappears, e.g. changing font colour etc. And then, when I click on Format - Font - Cancel it returns
I'd be interested if anyone else has a comment to add, please do
    thanks

BTW (speaking as a Dad of 3 daughters in Grad school) if you don't already have and use a DropBox account, or some other similar online "cloud" based backup of your school documents, you should start doing so immediately. By keeping all of your important documents in the Dropbox folder on your computer, you have instant access to them from any other computer (or iPad), should you be w/o your computer while in for repairs (or if, God forbid, it is stolen). It's free for 2 GB of online storage, which is more than enough for a few years worth of Word documents, etc. (If you get other people to sign up via your email "invitation", then Dropbox gives you even more free storage space.) Every time you close a document, it is updated on the Dropbox servers (encrypted), if it is in the Dropbox folder (assuming you give it a few seconds to update before turning off your computer). Do a google search of "Cloud based storage comparisons" to compare the amount of free space each of the competing services give you.

  • CURSOR DISAPPEARS IN MAC OSX 10.6.8

    Using FF 24.0.
Cursor disappeared from screen; cannot activate mouse and keyboard and had to manually cold reboot.
Was having a similar problem in Safari.
Please advise step-by-step how to resolve.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Mouse cursor disappears sometimes on Firefox for Mac

Sometimes, only when Firefox is open, the mouse cursor disappears. I can still click, but the cursor is invisible.

Does the mouse pointer only disappear when the pointer is in a Firefox window (user interface or browser part or both) or is it gone outside Firefox as well?

  • Cursor Disappears

Mac Pro running Mountain Lion & Photoshop CS5. Gotta say Mountain Lion seems to have its share of bugs. Here's one: Working away in Photoshop CS5, when I suddenly want to look at a web page, check email, etc. The cursor disappears the instant it leaves Photoshop and is invisible over the Finder, desktop, and all other apps. Only way to get it back is to Command+Tab thru the application switcher. Pathetic.

Apparently they do not talk to each other at Apple, and do not log in complaints.  See this post of Aug 6.

Update:  Contacted both Wacom and Apple. Haven't spoken to anyone at Wacom yet, but was very impressed with Apple's response. The tech called seconds after I hit the send button on the website.  Apprerently they haven't heard of the issue and had him Google the problem. Luckily my cursor disappeared as I was speaking with him.  Had me zap Pram (reboot holding Command-Option PR) and then rebooted in safe mode (holding shift) played around for a while but couldn't get the cursor to disappear.  Then booted normal and stayed on the line for a good while to see if it would happen again. We ended up disconnecting and calling back if or when it reoccurs and go from there...

  • Cursor disappears on macbook pro windows 8.1

I have a MacBook Pro running Windows 8.1.  Over the past few weeks, while doing work (email, Word, Powerpoint  - basic office work), the cursor would disappear.  I would need to restart the computer for the cursor to reappear.  Today, the cursor has disappeared and I can't get it back with a restart.  I have read many posts on disappearing cursors but none seem to fix my problem.  All other functions (as far as I can tell) are functioning.  I am using the trackpad.  All features work except for the ability to see the cursor.  I have tried the following:
    1. Restart
    2. Power off / on
    3. Looking for additional microsoft updates and updating.
    4. Removing updates that have installed in the past 5 days
    5. Removing update KB2919355 (It wouldn't let me so it reinstalled it)
    6. Mouse settings - I tried changing scheme, size etc - no change.  I was able to select within Mouse Properties - Press CNTRL to see Mouse - this works.  When I press the control button - it shows me a target of where the cursor is but it doesn't show the cursor - WORKAROUND.
    7. Added a mouse - it connected, made a sound as it connected but same situation as cursor - functional but can't see the cursor
    8. Went to MSconfig and tried booting in Diagnostic set up - CURSOR REAPPEARED - but no idea which app is causing the problem.
    9. I went back to MS Config and did normal mode - cursor disappeared at restart  and disabled all the start up apps and restarted - still no cursor.
    10. I pressed all the FN+F1, f2,f3 etc. - no change
    11. I checked to make sure I was only using 1 screen (and not extending my screen).
I have an appointment at the Genius bar on Monday but there has to be an easy fix to this.  Any ideas?

Additional Info - after working on this problem for 4 hours, I shut my laptop in frustration and took a break.  1 hour later I opened my mac and the cursor had magically returned.  No restart, no power on/off - nothing.  Frustration.  If anyone else has had this happen and has actually fixed the problem let me know. I'm sure it will reoccur.

  • Cursor disappears when a video using Flash is in Safari

    Hello,
My cursor disappears whenever I'm on a web page (using Safari) that uses Flash for video. It is 100% repeatable on any Flash/video website. On my other machine (an iMac running Snow Leopard) this does not happen.
If you would like to see what I'm talking about, as an example, go here:
    http://vimeo.com/
Let the page load so that the "introductory" video can play. While it's playing, move your cursor anywhere on top of the video that's playing and watch it disappear. It's hard to find it again.
    Any thoughts? Thanks.
(I'm using a MacBook Pro. Operating system is 10.7.1 Lion. All software updates are complete. The battery is charged, the computer is turned on, and it is plugged into electricity. I did a search of this forum and found one other question regarding this same topic, but nobody had answered it.)

The behaviour I get is that if the cursor is left on top of the video, it disappears after a second or two. As soon as I move the mouse or trackpad, it reappears.  Which is exactly what I would want to happen.  Perhaps when you are "waking up" the cursor you are doing so with a large random movement of the trackpad? It only takes the slightest movement to make it reappear more or less where you left it.
There is, of course, always the option of parking the cursor somewhere else on the screen where you will not lose it.

  • Cursor disappears in PS CS5 after OS10.8 upgrade

    Hello,
I have a problem in Photoshop CS5 (v. 12.0.2) after ugrading my Mac system to Mountain Lion 10.8.1. I use a mouse (not wireless, also tried changing mouse).
When I work with a picture using the brush tool and move the cursor to a palette or menu, the layers palette for example, the cursor disappers. Sometimes you can see that the palettes gets "marked" when you move the mouse around (I mean the "buttons" that changes when you move the cursor over them). But the cursor is gone and I can't see where to click. If I just click around and eventually hit the right spot, a layer for example, the cursor usually comes back. But the problem happens again as soon as I move the cursor from my picture to a palette or menu.
I don't use that many different tools in Photoshop, usually just the brush tool. But the same thing happens with the doodge tool (or any other tool I think).
Very thankful if anyone can help!
    Angelica

This has been reported by a number of Mac users with 10.8.  Problem has been narrowed down to the OS.  Apple needs to fix.  Can search for "disspearing cursor" and will get filled in on details.

  • Air application full screen error in Mac OSX 10.7 Lion

    Hi
We have an air application built using Flash Builder 4.5 with 4.5 SDK.
The air application no problem to run on Windows and Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leapard. However it has full screen issue on Mac OSX 10.7 Lion. When change to full screen mode, the whole screen disappear, press ESC and turn back to normal stage without any issue.
We then use Flash Builder 4.5 with SDK 4.6 to compile and release, install the air application to Lion OS but still no luck.
Air 3.1 installed on Lion OS
       Can some one please help?

    Is this still a problem?

  • Cursor disappears except near dock (right side) OS 10.6.8, 27" Intel iMac. Started this morning.

This morning my wireless mouse needed battery replacement. After that, the cursor disappears as I move it away from the dock area. If I move over buttons and am lucky, the proper action will take place but I cannot see the cursor. Sort of like playing Battleship game. Blindly move the mouse and hope I hit something. Although this is new this morning, I've had the same problem in the past but it went away. It seems worse or much more annoying this morning. My wired mouse displays the same problem. I had to borrow my wife's laptop to send this problem. The only program open is Safari.  I did a restart hoping to clear the problem but no dice.

I tried the safe boot and it solved the problem. What is a Safe Boot? Where can I learn more about it and when to use it? Will the problem be gone when I do a normal boot? I read elsewhere that someone thought that F10 would solve the problem but it did not for me. I read also that someone upgraded to Lion and still had the problem.
I am still using Rosetta because I use Eudora (I know, a diosaur) and at one time had a suspicion that Eudora is involved but this morning, I had the problem after a restart and Eudora was not active.
I'd really like to know what Safe Boot is intended for. Thanks for the help

  • Cursor disappears (invisible) after exiting TDM

I've recently purchased a 0.5m thunderbolt cable to connect my Macbook pro to my 27" iMac. All is fine until I exit Target Display Mode (apple F2). At that point the cursor disappears. Very annoyingly, I can just about trace it's whereabouts via the various cues on web browser windows, and through trial and error navigate to the apple menu and restart, whereupon it's all back to normal.
Anyone know why this is or how I can prevent it from happening?
    iMac running OSX 10.7.5
    intel core i5
    AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512mb

    Hi Gregster,
If the cursor on your iMac is disappearing unexpectedly I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
