.Mac has wiped two months of data from iCal

I have just lost the last two months' worth of updates on iCal because of a bizarre synching issue.
My laptop suddenly asked on opening iCal to reset iCal, and I chose the option to replace data on the laptop with the data on .Mac (thinking that there was a problem of some kind on the laptop, so probably best to use the data from .Mac which I had updated earlier in the day from another machine).
However, once iCal had been reset it was clear that it had lost at least two months' of data - .Mac had apparently reverted to the iCal data it had round about Christmas.
Can anyone explain what might have happened, and say if there is a way to get the data back? I have a backup but it is from a couple of weeks ago, so still lots of updates lost.

Hello Sam,
are you using Universe for your report..if Yes..pls try below option.
Create two objects in the universe
Object1 syntax: current date() (Note:this object you can create at webi level)
Object 2 syntax:addmonths(sysdate;-2)
Now create a alert in webi report by using below conditions
Day is less than Object1
and
Day is greater than Object2
Please try this and let me know if any issues.

Is it already scheduled for a daily run or manually you are running the process chain?
If its manually running then you can select your process chain, and then right click on the start process --> Maintain variant --> Scheduling --> in the scheduler screen , you can click on the Immediate, save the changes and save in the next screen, once it comes back in the main screen, you have a scheduling Icon (Clock idoc). Click on it. Once done then it will be oK.
Or firs the process only failed, then you can right click on the failed process and then choose "Repeat" option to repeat the process.
Also you can check the source system connection is fine or not? RSa1 --> Source system --> CHECK

1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finish backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.

If you forgot your encryption password:
Warning: Make sure it's a password you will remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and chooseset up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

I recently reinstalled OSX 10.6.8 on my mac pro, and also reinstalled my data from time machine. However I do not have system dis 2, as a result a lot programms do not work. I tried unsuccessfully disc 2 from another macbook pro with OSX 10.6.8. Any help?

I recently replaced the hard disk on my macbook pro. As I had lost my original system disks that came with my mac, I paid an authorised Apple Reseller to reinstall OX 10.6.8 and also they reinstalled the data from my Time Machine back up. However, I have noticed a lot of functions no longer work. I was told by Apple Reseller that they only installed system disk I (operating system), but not system disk II (programme disk), as they do not have that disk. I was advised to use Disk II from any macbook pro with an OS 10.6.8 or higher..... I tried that but it did not work as mac would not read that disk. Can anyone please help me solve this problem?

Or, it the OP's paid technician missed it the first time, he can mount the OS X install DVD on the desktop, open the Optional Installs folder, double click on the Optional Installs .mpkg, and step through the process until arriving at the "Installation Type." Last 6 months of data from current date

I have a requirement in WebI to display last 6 months of data based on current date.Actually I have a column called "Employee Contract Start date" in my report.Suppose the end user executes the report today,then he should be able to see the Employee's data whose contract started today and in the last 6months from current date.
Also I have dimension object name "Employee Contract Start Date".
Please be noted that I am getting the data from Bex Query and I am working on BO 4.1 version.
I have Objects "Calender day" , "Cal.year/Month" , "Calender month" , "Employee Contract Start Date" in the BEx Query.
Could anyone please propose me, what are the ways to meet this requirement?

HT201250 i bought a new mac, and i want to migrate data from my old pc external drive to my mac how is this done

Just Recently bought a new Mac, because my old PC crashed again, ( finished w/ microsoft) but now i would like to migrate data from my external drive i used on my PC to my new Mac. i loaded the Migration assitant from utilities but didnt see how to migrate the data from this external drive. which is a SEgate drive. any ideas.

Just in case you are not aware of this, you can probably use your external drive, which you presumably now no longer need for your PC, as the backup drive using the Mac's Time Machine. If you still have any Windows specific files that you want to keep, it is really easy to partition the drive so that you can keep Windows files and Mac files in different partitions.

Partitioning two Years Of Data From One Cube Yo Another

Can any one please help me on the following issue.
I got the requirement where I need to copy the data from one cube to another having unequal number of dimensions.
I have achieved this using Transparent partitioning, But I could be able to copy only one year data.
In cube1 I have the months like Jan, Feb...Dec and in cube2 I have the structure like Jan-11..Dec-11, Jan-12...Dec-12.
While creating the partition how can I map the Jan with Jan-11 and Jan-12.

If new calendar events entered on your iPad do not appear on icloud.com, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar on your iPad and be sure you have selected an iCloud calendar as your default and not something else like On My iPhone, a Gmail or Yahoo calendar, etc. If you haven't, make this change, then add a new event and see if it appears on your calendar on icloud.com now.
If your settings are correct and new events still aren't appearing on icloud.com, add any missing calendar events from your iPad to your calendar on icloud.com. Once the calendar on icloud.com is up to date with your iPad, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Calendars to Off, choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (they will still be in iCloud), then after a 15 seconds or so, turn Calendars back to On. Then add a new event on your iPad and see if it appears on your calendar on icloud.com now, and on your other devices.

The new update has wiped 6 months of writing!

I just updated my ipad, and with it the pages application. And now my entire programe is wiped. Along with it, 6 months of writing of stories and projects I have been working on. How can I get it back? I assumed there would be a back up on itunes, but the app on itunes is also completely blank! I am desperate for ideas!

2000 contacts disappeared? I've had my Z10 for over a year and have never lost a contact but, then, I make backups (for local contacs) and sync my contacts with Exchange at work and Outlook.com for personal.
If you'd like to ask a question and get help there are people here who like to help. if you just want to just rant then don't expect much help. While most here can sympathize with you on lost data, there are thousands of posts here with either how-to's on making backups or links to those same how-to's. All of Sdgardne's posts (and there are tens of thousands) have links to how to set up and maintain backups.

Installing OS and Apps on SSD boot drive on early 2008 Mac Pro while keeping all other data from old iMac on hdd

So I've just got myself a early 2008 Mac Pro with a OCZ RevoDrive 80GB PCIe SSD to replace my old iMac which is slowly but surely giving up on me. I want to put my OS (mavericks) and some/all (whichever is possible/easier) apps, both apple and 3rd party, from my old iMac, onto the SSD but keep all my other data on the 2TB HDD, also from my old iMac, in the mac pro. Can anyone tell me how to do this/if its possible? (not massively tech savvy so simpleish language and steps would be handy!) Thanks!

How to use an SSD with your HDD
If you are going to use an SSD as a boot drive together with your existing HDD as the "data" drive, here's what you can do.
After installing the SSD you will need to partition and format the SSD using Disk Utility. Then, install OS X on the SSD. After OS X has been installed boot from the SSD. Use Startup Disk preferences to set the SSD as the startup volume.
Open Users & Groups preferences. Click on the lock icon and authenticate. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on your user account listing in the sidebar and select Advanced Options from the context menu. You will see a field labeled "Home dir:" At the right end you will see a Change button. Click on it. In the file dialog locate the Home folder now located on the HDD (HDD/Users/account_name/.) Select the folder, click on Open button. Restart the computer as directed.
When the computer boots up it will now be using the Home folder located on the HDD.
Another more technical method involving the Terminal and aliases is discussed in depth here: Using OS X with an SSD plus HDD setup - Matt Gemmell. This is my preferred approach because I can select which of the Home's folders I want on the HDD and which I don't want. For example, I like to keep the Documents and Library folders on the SSD because I access their content frequently.
Be sure you retain the fully bootable system on your HDD in case you ever need it.

Mac has insomnia. Keeps waking up from sleep.

I have had problems with my various Macs awakening randomly. I had a core2 duo iMac and now I have an i7 iMac, and it seems that I have a pattern. I sleep the computer and it comes on suddenly. Sometimes it goes off, but other times it stays on. I have set up the computer to go to sleep after 25 minutes: both the display and the computer. I have checked "put hard disks to sleep when possible".
I have tons of RAM and am running Mavericks. I run Parallels desktop too. I have a first generation time capsule and a 2Wire DSL modem. The 2Wire has wireless capabilities, but I just have it feeding the time capsule with a single ethernet cable. My wife's macbook Air wirelessly and automatically backs up to the time capsule as well. I have a brother wireless laser printer and an HP wireless inkjet printer. I plug in a Denon audio receiver via ethernet to the time capsule. There is a ROKU box that connects wirelessly to my network. I don't have file sharing turned on, but I do have dvd/cd sharing checked. I don't have any other remote management protocols set up.
After I upgraded my computer to a new (used) iMac, I was dismayed to find the problems persisted. I have been scratching my head and wondering whether it could be the time capsule or the 2Wire that is the problem? I have not tried disabling time machine for either computer to see if that was the issue. I have not unplugged the time capsule and just used the 2Wire modem to trouble shoot.
I know there are certain things that can be queried via Terminal, but I don't know enough to choose what to type in. I sometimes want to tear my hair out when the computer suddenly coms on in the middle of the night, or when I can tell it has been on for hours in the morning, by touching the iMac and feeling it to be very warm.

Test after each of the following steps that you haven’t already tried:
Step 1
Take all the steps suggested in this support article. That's the starting point for any further effort to solve the problem. Skipping any of those steps may mean that the problem won't be solved. Note that, as stated in the article, the computer will not sleep if Internet Sharing is enabled.
Step 2
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Accessibility ▹ Speakable Items: Off

 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Bluetooth ▹ Advanced...
and uncheck both boxes marked
Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant at startup if...
Step 4
Reset the SMC.
Step 5
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal. Don’t launch any applications at first. If sleep still doesn’t work properly, back up all data and reinstall the OS. After that, if you still have the issue, make a “Genius” appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
If sleep now works as expected, go on to the next step.
Step 6
Still in safe mode, launch the usual set of applications that are running when you have the problem, including your login items, one at a time, testing after each one. Some applications may not work; skip them. You might be able to identify the cause of the problem this way.
Step 7
If sleep is still working after you’ve launched all the usual applications, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test again. If sleep still works, you’re done, at least for the moment.
If you still have the sleep issue after booting out of safe mode, post again.
