Mac OS X 10.7.4 ARD Issues When Observing/Controlling Computers with Display Mirroring/Different Resolutions
As if Macs in an enterprise environment could be more difficult to manage, now since our upgrade to OS X 10.7.(4) I have lost the ability to remotely control numerous Macs in our organization. The issue occurs when attempting to control a Mac running OS X 10.7.(4) that has their Display mirrored and the resolution does not match on both displays. What happens is that I can see the remote screen however it does not fill the entire Observe/Control window. Instead, the remote screen takes up about 50% of the window, the rest is black but sometimes will display a mirror image of the remote screen in the black area. What?! Yeah, I've attached a screenshot because this is ridiculous. The real problem is that I cannot control the computer when it has reached this state, the mouse no longer functions properly, it is not clicking where I place the mouse, etc. I have made sure that I have all updates including ARD Client/Server updates. I even tried VNC but as I have come to find out that is a whole other issue (doesn't work, sends me to the login screen, etc).
So here's what I need:
- A patch that is going to fix this issue
- A script to run that is going to change the remote screen resolution (I still have the ability to run remote scripts, etc. simply not Observe/Control)

I found a way to work around this issue. Not a fix but a work around.
This is little application some one wrote to toggle mirroring on and off.
Mirror Displays
If you put this application in the client computer's /Aplications folder
you can use ARD or SSH to run the app and switch modes.
The problem only occurs for me when a client is set to mirror dissimilar displays with different aspect ratios.
I am only seeing this in Lion 10.7.4 and 10.7.5

ARD won't save multiple computers with same IP and different port!
I'm trying to access multiple computers over the internet behind a firewall with port forwarding.
I can access each computer, but ARD won't save the IP address and port (in IP Address column of ARD 3.1) of multiple computers with the same IP address. It will only save ONE. I've tried 'add by address', adding a list for each computer or adding a list for all those computers. Nothing has worked. ARD will actually change the first computer's IP address to 0.0.0.0
Example: Static IP address
Computer 1 xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:51 (public port 51 is forwarded to port 5900 on computer 1)
Computer 2 xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:52 (public port 52 is forwarded to port 5900 on computer 2)
Computer 3 xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:53 (public port 53 is forwarded to port 5900 on computer 3)
Has Apple really overlooked this or am I missing something? Isn't this how most people would remotely manage multiple Macs offsite?
ThanksARD cannot do this as you're asking. If your
workstations get their addresses from an NAT device
rather than being "real", the ports also need to be
forwarded in the router to the workstation's internal
IP address. ARD uses port 3283 for the reporting and
updating function, so if your Macs are getting their
IP addresses through NAT, since you can only forward
a port to a single workstation, you can only get
reports, push package/files to etc. for a single
workstation.
ARD uses the VNC protocol for observation and
control, though, and there are a range of IP
addresses for that protocol, starting with 5900. ARD
uses 5900 by default, so that port would be forwarded
to the first workstation. You would, I believe, need
to install VNC servers on the systems (since the ARD
client cannot listen on any port other than 5900
while VNC servers can be set for other ports such as
5901, 5902, etc. You would then forward 5901 to the
second workstation (and on to 5902, 5903, etc.). You
can then use the following information:
Remote Desktop 2: How to specify a port number
for a VNC client
to connect.
The only other options are: 1) to run the ARD
administrator on a workstation on the network, and
then take control of that system from outside, either
via VNC or another copy of ARD, or 2) set up a
virtual private network (VPN) so that when you
connect from outside, your admin system is officially
part of the local network.

That definitely helps. I have ARD installed on my MBP and on a workstation on the LAN. I have used ARD from the MBP to control ARD on a workstation on the local network, but it can get a little tricky. I already have VNC setup on all the workstations. I used to use COTVNC prior to purchasing ARD 3.1.
I guess what I'm really asking is...
How do I add a list of workstations and save the settings (same IP address for each workstation with different ports?) to control/VNC via ARD?
I simply want a list that shows each workstation, so I can control/VNC them using ARD offsite.
Name: Computer 1 IP Address: 123.123.123.123:5901
Name: Computer 2 IP Address: 123.123.123.123:5902
Name: Computer 3 IP Address: 123.123.123.123:5903
I don't want to have to manually type in the IP address into ARD every time.
Will ARD simply not add another computer to the list if it has the same IP address but different port number as a computer already on the list? I haven't been able to find a way to make ARD do this. -
Issue in treeview control along with page viewer web part showing the sub sites from MMS

Am having a treeview control populates with values from MMS - Managed Metadata Service.

all these values excel, word, powerpoint are sub sites created under ms-office site collection.
and sharepoint 2003, mos 2007, sp 2010, sp 2013 are sub sites created under collaboration.
now, on the page load, end user clicks on word and he should navigate to the sub site "wordsite" and it should show the home page of word sub site.
we have created a page viewer web part and assigned the url property of the page viewer to the sub site url.
but the issue is, when end user clicked on the child node "powerpoint", the page did a Post Back and treeview control immediately collpased and it shows the Products [top level - parent node] only.
Am unable to set the current selected value- ie here its excel and show the excel node in the trewview.
how can i get this child tree node as the selected node.

If so go and check the condition record meant for it. Follow the following steps
1) Go to Sales order
2) Select the line item for which the state tax is being picked.
3) In the condition tab select analysis.
4) In Analysis you shall find the condition type meant for state tax.
5) See which condition record has been found.
6) Go to VK12, enter the state tax condition type and check the condition record for that state tax.
7) If wrong correct it.

Display issues when disconnecting from an external display
While I have found 3 bugs since my upgrade to 10.6 the biggest and most frequent issue is the MBP display when using and external monitor. When I connect a monitor all is well (mirroring mode). When I disconnect the MBP screen gets the major jitters and I can't stop it by doing anything in the Display Properties. The only way to resolve it to close the lid forcing the system into suspend mode. When I reopen all is well again. This is not an intermittent issue. Has anyone found this issue and is there a better work around?
The only other issues have been Mail crashing the whole system and Gotomeeting crashing the whole system when attempting to take Keynote into full screen mode.I am have experienced both problems as well as if I have an external display connected to my MBP and move itunes video play back to the second screen then disconnect it from the MBP the video stays on the second display and will not gather back to the MBP display. The video is playing but off screen. Gather and detect screen do not work to get the video play back to the MBP screen.
When I reconnect the external display there is the video. I know this does not answer the original question, but from looking around the net it seems to be a growing issue.

Issue when SelectOneChoice is used with Domain data type in JDev 11.1.2.0.0
Hi,
I am facing one issue while working with SelectOneChoice along with Custom Domain data type. Sample app to simulate the issue is available at http://www.filejumbo.com/Download/6FDF6ECF2922BD24
Issue Details.
Base view object’s attribute is of type CustomString, for which another static VO’s attribute is attached as LOV. LOV attribute is of type String. Because of this data type mismatch between LOV VO attribute and Base VO attribute, while working in screen, initially we were facing Class cast exception.
Cannot convert <<LOV Attr. Val.>> of type class java.lang.String to class model.domain.common.CustomString This is not only for this type of SelectOneChoice but also for InputText field whose underlying VO attribute is of type CustomString (i.e. any Custom Domain type)
On raising this in Jdeveloper forum, I came to know that adding a default oracle converter against the UI Component will take care of converting to respective data type. After added the converter for InputText and SelectOneChoice components, this issue got resolved. This was our lesson while working in Jdeveloper version 11.1.1.3.0. Converter we used,
<f:converter converterId="oracle.genericDomain"/> When we try the same scenario in Jdev Version 11.1.1.4.0, without having the oracle converter itself, SelectOneChoice started working fine!! (i.e. it is able to set the base attribute with LOV attribute’s value but with proper base attribute’s domain data type). Anyhow, converter is required for InputText.
When we try the same scenario in Jdeveloper new version 11.1.2.0.0, it started giving class cast exception when we don’t have oracle converter for SelectOneChoice. But by adding it, though it didn’t give such class cast exception message, though a selection is made in SelectOneChoice, VO attribute has not been updated with the new value. Instead it is updated with null value (Checked the setter method of view row impl by having break point) . Because of this, after a selection is made, when we try to read the attribute value from VO on button click, VO attribute always returns null.
We have also tried our own converters but there is no change in the behavior.
The above misbehavior can be tested either by having SOP programmatically or by refreshing the SelectOneChoice by giving its id as Partial trigger to itself with autosubmit set to true, so that the selected value will be reset to null irrespective of the selection made.

I tested the behavior in Jdeveloper 11.1.2.0.0. The recent surprise is Select One Choice is behaving perfectly when it used in Grid layout and fail to work when it is form layout. I am getting surprised why behavior of component varies based on the way it refers the binding.

Issue when receiving SOAP message with HTTPS on non-central adapter engine
Hi,
we have a central XI system (PI 7.1 EHP1 SP03) and a non-central adapter engine (XI 3.0) in the DMZ, both systems on HP-UX.
In the affected configuration scenario, a business partner is sending us IDocs (INVOIC.INVOIC01) over HTTPS with Certificate Authentication and without SOAP Envelope.
The configuration and security settings seem to be correct, because we've already received several messages successfully over this connection. Now, since several weeks no message arrives anymore in our system, while the business partner always gets a HTTP_OK_200 response. So the messages seem to be accepted by our system, but nothing is shown, neither in the MessageMonitoring or CommunicationChannelMonitoring of the Runtime Workbench, nor in the in the traces/logs of the NetweaverAdministrator (trace level = DEBUG for "com.sap.aii.adapter.soap").
I also removed the assigned user in the sender agreement which should cause a HTTP_500_error on sender side, but our business partner still got a "OK_200" notification and we didn't find any information in the trace of our system.
When using TCPGateway to trace the communication, I can see an arriving message and the response, but it's encrypted because of HTTPS.
1) Did anyone have similiar issues yet?
2) Are there any further possibilities to check if an incoming message at the SOAP adapter fails?
3) Which further trace settings can be done, to get most detailed informations about the soap traffic?
4) Is there a way to decrypt the message of the TCPGateway (e.g. with private key of server)?
I'm looking forward for any helpful hints or information!

Software licence issues when upgrading to Leopard with a new machine
Hi,
This is a question about my licence for Logic, but also on a broader scale, all my plugins and AU instruments etc. of which I have bought many.
I want to upgrade to Leopard (currently on Tiger 10.4.11), and realise that it's going to be a long and painful process to re-install each program/plugin etc. as I want to start from a clean Leopard install.
I also want to do this on a new MacBook Pro, but am wondering what kind of complications I'm going to run into when doing so. I can't just close one machine down while I transfer across the programs as I need it to work with, so I was going to prepare an external FW (or USB?) hard drive with Leopard, configure it and install all I need, and then clone that to my new MBP once I've got the money together to buy it.
Will this void the licence for Logic (and all my other programs) considering I'll essentially have two different machines with the same software? Is there an easier way to do this (particularly without installing each program again)?

Message was edited by: onesizeupYou can run Logic on two different machines; just not at the same time. So there are no logistical (ha ha) problems from that point of view.
As regards the more general issue of copying over data…
There are applications such as Carbon Copy Cloner (shareware) which can make exact copies of your volumes, & there is Migration Assistant (part of OS X) that will allow you to move over the bits you need.
But if you are going for a clean install, you might prefer to do everything the hard way & re-install everything.
Personally, what I usually do is first a clean install, & then use my carefully-prepared back-ups to put everything from their previous locations directly into the corresponding locations in the new system. But this isn't recommended unless you really know what you're doing!
However, it does work perfectly for most things, as long as you take a few precautions & do everything in exactly the right order.
You can search in other Forums for lots of good advice on this type of move-over. -
Odd Issue when using Firewire drive with Leopard-Locks up Dock, etc.
I have an odd issue that has developed on my MBP using OS X 10.5.1 Leopard. It only appears to occur when I plug in my External Firewire Lacie Rugged Hard Drive. I only use that Hard Drive approximately once a week when doing a complete mirror backup of my MBP's Hard Drive using SuperDuper. As far as I can tell the issue occurs only once the Hard Drive is plugged in, not because of SuperDuper or the Backup.
Here is the issue: For some reason within a minute of plugging in my hard drive my Dock doesn't work. It scrolls when I put the mouse pointer down to the Dock but it won't open up any icons I click on. It's just like it doesn't recognize the left mouse button. Also, I am unable to select any menus at the top of the screen. I can left click on them and even right click on an icon such as Macintosh HD on the desktop and there is no response. I am able to drag Windows across my desktop though but it seems overall that my keyboard becomes inactive. For example in a open Numbers spreadsheet I am able to use the left mouse button (so it works then) to select a textbox and get the blinking cursor but yet if I type and use even the delete key there is no response. Even after I'm done with the Hard Drive if I drag the Lacie to the trash to eject it won't eject. The only way to eject it is simply pull the Firewire cable out.
I had a few issues with my system earlier and found out I had some bad memory. The memory was replaced and the problems went away. I am worried I had some corrupted files from that time but what puzzles me is I have used my laptop for weeks with no problems. It is only while I plug in this hard drive. In a worse case if I can't figure out how to fix it I feel I'll have to do a complete format and reinstall Leopard and I don't want to have to do that. This only occurs when I do the backup but can be a pain. Any ideas if I can fix this?Erase and reformat the ext HD. Then, redo the SuperDuper! backup.

TS4062 ipod classic issues when trying to sync with itunes
i have an ipod classic which has always worked great when getting music from itunes, but i bought a new computer and now i can't get it to sync. i also have an ipod touch which works fine. i need help figuring out how to sync with my new computer and the classis. any suggestions?

I left my iPod plugged into my PowerBook over night and when I woke it was functional. However, downloads from iTunes to the iPod take almost 3x's longer than they used to and there seems to be more errors than I've ever experienced (about 1 out of every 10 interfaces). Sometimes the error is that it can't write to the drive (iPod) and sometimes the error is that it can't mount the iPod. Also when the iPod is plugged in and displayed in iTunes, the "used" and "free" info is incorrect. I completely emptied my iPod and it says that I'm using -2.80 GB (impossible unless I've created a blackhole) and it says that I have 10.49 GB (capacity, under Get Info, is listed at 9.28 - which is were it's always been - it's a gen2 10GB iPod).
Has anyone tried to format there iPod? Is this possible without harming the drive?
Well, to sum it up my iPod is working but is having errors and bugs all over the place. If anyone has any new news I'd love to hear it.

Issue when posting comments along with a photo to facebook.

When i firs got my phone around 2 months ago, all was cool.
Now, when i post a photo to facebook's Xperia album, i'm asked if i want to write a comment along with the photo, i write a comment, then press 'post' The comment is never posted. This seems to happen when i post the photo to the Xperia album as i want to have a record of pics taken on this phone.
In accounts, i have an 'Xperia with facebook' account & a 'facebook' account,should these be synced, what is the difference between the 2 & could this be the reason for the issue?

RupI just tested this here and it seems like there's an issue with the latest version of Facebooks app. If i upload a photo to one of my albums (doesn't matter which album) using it and add a comment, the comment is never added to the picture on Facebook. It doesn't matter if i share the photo from Album or if i open Facebooks app and upload it from there with a comment.
I reported it as an issue to Facebook using their app and i recommend that you also do this.
Beside the option to use the web version of Facebook (www.facebook.com/m.facebook.com/touch.facebook.com) you have two apps in your phone for Facebook. The first is the Facebook app made by Facebook and the other is Xperia with Facebook made by us. Xperia with Facebook is designed to synchronize certain data with Facebook like pictures to Album.
But due to API changes made by Facebook we are however in the process of phasing out Xperia with Facebook and some functionality has already been removed. In our latest software, there's no option to upload a picture with Xperia with Facebook so you need to use Facebooks app.

When I execute the same select using execute immediate like:

When I change the second coalesce part (the one within the exists) in the flowing way:

s.end_val_dat >= sysdate or s.end_val_dat is nullthen the execution time is even faster (560 msecs) in both, the plain select and the select using the execute immediate. -

Dear forum member(s), I was excited at the possibilities that Firefox offered. I have been looking forward to researching on the forums, but I made a blunder when registering.
I changed my email password some time ago and forgot that I had done so. I also have a second email which is similar to my address I was registering and I think I was actually using my the second email information until I caught the mistake.
Shortly thereafter I received an email with my user ID but no password. I had been assuming that I would receive a onetime computer generated password, but I wasn’t sure how things were supposed to go. After closely studying the language of the email, I was led to the conclusion that I would login with my original information I had provided.
My final attempt to register failed and I can’t explain why. I am positive that I had the right user id and password and now I am in limbo. I registered with the "Add-ons" section in 15 minutes. I was never told I was banned, but I was never told I am now a member. Thanks for reading.

reel4Not at all. I have never posted to the forums. The only thing I have written is what you see in this thread. I registered at add-ons section and things were fine. I wanted to use the forums, because I like to learn what I can. The problems began when I tried to register at the forms. At first, I thought my login from add-ons would work at the forums. It didn't. I honestly don't know if there is separate login and validation for each firefox/mozilla section.
When I attempted to register with the forums, I messed up when trying to login because I made too many attempts. I was either using another password from a second email or I misread those weird words they use to make sure you are not a bot.
I don't know what exactly was written but they basically wanted to take a look at things. I felt that was reasonable. After all - I felt like a moron for not being able to read those contorted word tests.
Then they sent me my user id but with no new password so I assumed my current password was the same as the one I originally gave. Long story short, I tried to login again- all three times I failed. They never banned me or told me anything. I have not heard from anyone or thing. To It's like they have just walked away. I just don't understand what has happened and why no one will tell me anything. So... no - I am not banned. When I do bet blocked after I logoff, it has the same effect as a ban. I guess I have been ousted. I just wish this I could get this matter resolved. I changed my password and email so maybe that will keep around.
It's a strange situation and I am at loss for words. I even wrote the forum people an apology letter describing the facts above in details and apologizing for the inconvenience. I actually apologized for being an idiot.
One last thing - at the outset of the post - I told you they gave me one last opportunity to login and it failed. I know for a fact I had the information correct. I had even written my password somewhere else on the screen to where I could see each character to verify the pass word was correct and then cut and paste.
James - who knows what the future holds but I must thank you my friend. At the very least, I could tell my story. It is all so strange.
