Mac OS X install disc not installing drivers in Windows 7

So I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate OEM 32 bit, and everything went (relatively) smoothly...
The problem is that now I'm at the desktop and when I insert the Mac OS X install disc, I am not able to install drivers. Instead, I am prompted to either "remote install Mac OS X" on my MacBook Air or install DVD and CD Sharing on my MacBook Air. I don't own a MacBook Air nor have I ever used either the Windows 7 install DVD or the Mac OS X install DVD on a MacBook Air. What's going on, and how else can I install the proper drivers? Also, please note that I used the Mac OS X install disc to install drivers for Windows XP previously. Long story short, that installation expired (lost my CD key) so I had to start over with Windows 7. I know the drivers are there, why aren't they working?

Sorry to state the obvious first, is it a Snow Leopard DVD?
You can always browse the DVD to the correct folder for the drivers.

  • HT1461 I have installed the Windows 8 on my MacBook using BootCamp, but I cannot install drivers for Windows now

I have installed the Windows 8 on my MacBook using BootCamp already, but I cannot install drivers for Windows now: I've got only BootCamp 3 disk and it doesn't goo even if I start it using compatibility options. And my BootCamp on Mac didn't offer me to burn cd with drivers for windows as I saw in many instructions. How can I resolve the problem? Thanks a lot.

Go back to Boot Camp: on the 2nd page you get this:
Download the support software and as Windows is already installed uncheck the 2nd box.

Boot Camp doesn't install the drivers. You have the drivers on a separate USB device if you followed directions. Once in Windows connect the USB drive with the driver software. It should startup automatically and install the drivers.
You don't even need to do that. As downloading the drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant can be unreliable, it is better to get the package directly from here:

Copy the .zip file to a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD in OS X. Install Windows as normal, insert the flash drive/DVD in Windows, copy the .zip file to the hard drive, extract it, then run the setup executable.

  • Xmod not auto-installing drivers under Windows XP 64-

The specs list support for Windows XP 64-bit, but when I tell it to automatically find and install drivers it says it can't find the necessary drivers. Creative support said they don't have stand-alone drivers for this and that it "should work".
Can anyone please help? The Xmod shows up in Device Manager with a yellow exclimation mark.
    Thanks!!

  • Unable to install Drivers on Windows 7

    Hello!
So, I have a MacBook from late 2009, I believe, but I've since upgraded my OS to Snow Leopard, and as such, have Bootcamp 5. I partitioned my OS to run Windows 7 Pro without issue, but i had to download an earlier version of bootcamp support software to get the drivers to work. I'm all the way back at 4.1 now, but when i try to run the setup, I get an error message that reads, "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model." I've managed to install most of the drives manually, but the ones for my trackpad and mouse and iSight camera and so on don't work at all, even though I've installed them. Did i do something wrong, or am I not back far enough and need to download even earlier support software?

His post indicates that he has a 2012 MBP, which would not have come with Snow Leopard. Also, the drivers on the Snow Leopard disk would not be compatible with Windows 7.
Download this software package and install it from within Windows:

  • Installing drivers for Windows XP leads to "fatal system error"

    Hello,
I am trying to install the drivers for Windows XP on my new MacBook, using boot camp from my Mac OS X install cd (version 10.6.3). The option comes up for me to either "repair" or "remove" drivers. I clicked on repair, and after about 5 min of smooth installing, the screen went blue and said that there had been a "fatal system error".
I also tried removing the boot camp, and then repairing and the same thing happened. I was glad to find that everything on the Mac side of my computer is still working fine.
Is there anything else I can try to install the drivers successfully?
    Thank you!!
P.S. I just noticed that my MacBook is running OSX 10.6.4, but the install cd that came with my Mac says it's OSX 10.6.3. Do you think that could have something to do with the problem?

  • IPod will not install drivers on Windows Vista

    Hello,
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on 2 computers. One computer connects to my 60GB iPod video just fine, while the other looks for drivers and then fails to find any. I get a window that pops up saying "Insert the disc that came with your iPod" after Windows searches for drivers. Because of this, the iPod does not appear in iTunes, nor does it appear in My Computer. I have tried performing a soft reset on the iPod (Menu/Center combo) which did not work. I have also tried reinstalling iTunes to no avail. This is a brand new Windows installation and I just can't figure out why it won't work. iTunes seems to work just fine in all other respects.
I have also followed the steps in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136
    Thanks,
    Brian

I found these steps here: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1286482&SiteID=1&pageid=4
Scroll down to the quote from WickedMX.
Basically, C:\Windows\System32\Driverstore\Repository and look for a folder that starts with usbstor. You will probably have two different versions. Open the folder that is the newest version and then copy the files usbstor.inf and usbstor.PNF. Copy them to the C:\Windows\INF folder. Try installing your device(s) again and it should work like a charm!

  • Can't install drivers on Windows XP

I just installed Windows XP SP3 on my Bootcamp, but couldn't find my OSX discs (Leopard) to install the drivers. So I searched on apple.com and came across this http://support.apple.com/kb/DL830
At the bottom of the page was this
Note: This download contains complete copies of Boot Camp Windows XP Drivers (version 2.1).  If you have Boot Camp drivers already installed, it will update them.  If you do not have any Boot Camp drivers installed, it will install version 2.1 drivers onto your already installed Windows OS.
So I downloaded it, put it into my hard drive booted into Windows, but couldn't install it. Clicking it didn't work at all. I went into task manager, at processes it was running, but not doing anything.
Any idea why it's not working? Or do I have to install version 2.0 of the drivers first?
    Thanks.

Yes, and they are not downloadable, you need your original OSX disk

Can you be specific as to what drivers are not installing? An issue that can be had when doing PNPEnum is that child devices of something that does not have a driver installed are not visible to the PNPEnum. A way to get around that is you can force the
injection of drivers that are not getting installed. Something like you can add a second Inject Driver step but, have it be a selection profile of drivers that always get missed because they are children.

  • X-Fi Extreme Music || when installing drivers for windows vista 32 bits, error mess

I get an error message when I install windows vista 32bits drivers for my X-Fi Extreme Music... it says, error while installing, can't find a compatible product on your system, verify if it has been corectly installed ... BUT INSTALLING I JUST WHAT I WANNA DO ! WTF?
all other software for hardware management can see that my sound card is connected to my mother board, so i don't understand why the driver installer can't see it too and install the drivers ...
Could someone give me a tip to help me to install my drivers please?
    i got windows vista 32bits build 6000 , X-Fi Extreme Music, 2048 RAM, Pentium4 3.6ghz 250 go hdd space ...
I'm waiting for some cool answers, thanks ! ...

You are wrong. The 2.3 are for extreme music, you are thinking about extreme audio. Creative have really made a blunder with these names, not strange many are having problems. Propably trying to install extreme audio drivers on extreme music, and the other way around!?
Check that you have the right drivers, if you do. Try the trick where you unpack the driver exe file, so you get all the files from the installer on to a folder of youre choosing. Then use the "Creative Update Utility" popup to install/force the drivers to install. If you dont know what im talking about, search the forums, its been explained many times here.

  • Tried to transfer 8mm tapes to mac, then burn to disc, not working???

    test

    Hi
Where in the process did it go awry ?
You know that a DVD can be burnes in at least two fasions ?
Data-DVD - as Yo make when You store files on a DVD on DeskTop/Finder - then Burn on Eject - or -
Video-DVD - as any Movie-DVDs to be played on any DVD-Players - THIS ONE REQUIRE a DVD Authoring Program as iDVD, Roxio Toast, Burn or alike. It can not be made wothout this.
In FinalCut Pro X - You can Share/Export as a Video-DVD - but it's just that this program got integrated with FCP-X.
If You want a Video-DVD then
    • You need a DD authoring program
    • Video DVDs are much more picky in DVD brand quality used - I only use Verbatim
    • DVD type matters - DVD+/-RW usually DO NOT WORK - DVD+R only plays on newre DVD-players - so I use DVD-R
    • SL-DVD works more often to me than DL-DVDs
    • BURN SPEED - is essential - I never go faster than x4 - most often I use x2
    Just to share some thoughts.
Please describe more if You keep on haveing troubles.
    Yours Bengt W

  • BB 9630 Not accepting drivers in Windows

Ok, this is my first post, but I'm not a newbie to BBs, but I'm open to ideas (hince this website
    Here's the issue:
We have a bunch of BB 9630s with the 4.7.1.57 OS
We are not able to upgrade our BBs (secuirty policies by our company)
    We are using BDM 4.2.18
Root Issue: When connecting the BB to the computer by USB, it asks for the drivers. I point windows to C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\RESEARCH IN MOTION\USB DRIVERS, but it does not take to it (states that it could not find any drivers for this device, etc...)
I have fully uninstalled the BDM, BBHH Drivers (for the 9630) and reinstalled them. I have even tried using BDM 5.0 and no joy.
I pulled the drivers from Sprints website and they did not work.
I tried a few different BBs (all same 9630s, 4.7.1.57 OS and all Sprint) and they all do the same thing.
Here's a kicker, tried it on different computers and still getting the same thing.
    Am I missing something?

Verizon  ver 4.7.1.61 is the OS I'm running on my Tour.  The only difference is that my pc OS is Win 7.
Did you also check HK_Current_User to see if any traces of RIM are left under the Software key after your uninstall?
I would also check the %windir%\inf folder to see if there's a .inf driver file related to your device. Keep in mind that if you do find one, there will also be an associated .pnf file as well.
    Here's a ref.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813449
It's only happened to me once but I did run into a similar situation where I couldn't install a device until I deleted the existing .inf and .pnf files.  In that particular case, the new driver inf file and the old one had the exact same name and the old file was never overwritten during the install.
Search the folder looking for any .inf or .pnf file that contains "Research or "Research in Motion"
Err on the side of caution and make a copy of the files before you delete them if you do find any.
Instead of launching the executable directly, you can extract the install files to a directory of your choice using WinRAR.  By doing so, you will know the exact name of the folder which "should" contain the proper drivers.
I have Blackberry Device Manager running in my system tray.  The drivers listed are as follows:
    Blackberry Device Manager     ver.  5.0.1.11
    BBDevMgr.                               ver.  4.1.0.12
    RIM USB Driver                        ver.  4.1.0.4
RIM USB Serial Driver              ver.  2.2.0.3
Also, what's the file date and timestamp on the .inf file in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\USB Drivers?
