Mac OS X Lion Download Not Progressing

I have installed Lion on at least 5 other computers and have never ran into this issue. I am attempting to download Mac OS X Lion and the download has not progressed any. When hovering over the download icon it has just simply displayed " Mac OS X Lion - Downloading..." without showing a percentage and the progress bar has stayed empty/blank the whole time. I have attempted to pause/restart, cancel and start over. Nothing has worked. I would be willing to send screen shots or give more information by other means. I am in desperate need to have this installed before I leave town. Please help. Thank you.
A few things to note:
No Firewall is Running.
I have a 75MG internet connection.
I meet system requirements.

I have found my answer. The progress bar displayed on the Mac OS X Lion icon really doesnt show progression that well. I found that you are able to open the Mac App Store and then click purchases and see a much better progression bar, actually showing the progress. The download is moving extremely slow considering my internet connection but I can see progression is made at least.
I would really like to state that having to open the Mac App Store, open purchases, and then see the progress is really not congruent to how things should work. You shoud simply be able to see the amount downloaded on the icon.

The Download is about 4GB, it depends on how fast your internet connection is and how busy Apple computers are. Have you any way of checking if your Internet is downloading, I.E activity lights on you router. My Internet is 8Mb/s download and it took just over an hour to download earlier today.
I am not sure about a "time remaining"icon.

  • My 2008 Mac Pro running Lion will not play HDV1080i60 footage in FCP 7. When I open the sequence settings, all HDV codecs are hdv1, hdv2, hdv3, and so forth. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

My 2006 - 2008 Mac Pro running Lion will not play HDV 1080i60 footage in FCP 7. When I open the sequence settings, all HDV codecs are hdv1, hdv2, hdv3, and so forth. However, when I open the project on my other Mac Pro running Snow Leopard and FCP 6, the footage works fine as it does on my newer Imac running Mavericks and FCP 7. I have tried a Quicktime update on the Mac Pro that the footage doesn't work on but it says that I already have the newest version of Quicktime installed. I have also tried reinstalling the Final Cut Pro Studio twice, still no fix. I'm completely out of solutions and need to be able to edit HDV footage on this machine. Any help would be great. Thanks.

there was a recent software update that seemed to screw HDV up.  Do some searching here over the last month or 2 and you'll find a bunch of posts and some possible solutions.
Worst case scenario, do as Shane suggests.  But might I suggest you take a look at the user tips section of the forum.  there are some great tips on how to prevent these sorts of problems by cloning your startup drive, etc.

  • Some features of Mac OS X Lion are not supported for the disk

At the beginning of the installation on my MacBook Pro (early 2008, non-unibody) this alert appeared. The disk is partitioned into three partitions: 1. = Photoshop-scratch, 2. = System, 3. = Bootcamp. It seems that this causes the system-message. What could be the reason for that: The Photoshop-partition or Bootcamp? Is it possible to erase just the PS-partition and then install Lion or do I have to reformat the disk?

  • Mac OS X Lion does not install!!!

So I purchased Mac OS X Lion on the app store.  It began to download. When I clicked to install the new OS X LION it stops and says "It could not install because it could not be verified with apple.  Your download might have been corrupted during the download".  What the heck is going on.  I tried uninstalling it reinstalling it (as an apple technician told me to do so over the phone) and it didnt work.  I have all the spec requirements needed to upgrade to LION but still it will not download to my computer.  I paid 30 bucks for this upgrade and Apple will not refund me.  Can someone please help me!!!  Thanks.

If it has been corrupted during download then delete it and get a fresh copy.

    Colin R.

  • Mac OS X Lion does not Appear in the Purchased Apps list

    Hi everyone,
I bought my MacBook Pro 15-inch late in July and got the free upgrade promotion for Mac OS X Lion from Apple. Now I went to Mac App Store and verified the purchased items and I don't see Lion listed there.
    Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Abdullah

I had this problem too, but the purchase was actually "hidden".
    My solution;
In th App Store menu click on "Store" and "View My Account"
Under the "iTunes in the Cloud" section of the new window that appears there were 2 "Hidden Purchases".
Click on "View Hidden Purchases" and then click on "Unhide" on OS X Lion (assuming it is there - mine was).
It will now re-appear in your puchases section and you can re-download and install if necessary. Note that when you hover the mouse near the download or installed button a little x in a circle appears - if you click this is hides the purchase again. I'm assuming this will only work if you have the appropriate Cloud settings for recording your purchases, but it worked for me.
Hope this helps anyone finding their way to this thread.

  • Mac OS X Lion does not load on MacBook (late2007)10.6.8

Hi, Anyone who is having this issue. I have 2 MacBooks ( white body late 2007) upgraded with Snow Leopard and later updtaes of Snow Leopard up to 10.6.8.
Now I have bought Mac OS X Lion, and I ghave tried to load Lion onto these machines without any succes. Anyone with this experience ?
    Thanks for helping me out.

First, just to make sure, is your machine a Core 2 Duo (the number '2' being the most important)?
Then, how much RAM do you have? 2 GB is the minimum; however, that is truly a minimum - you'd be much happier with 4 GB.
And, last, the download is almost 4 GB - with my cable connection, it normally takes at least one hour, but i've already had it take almost 3 hours (entire neighborhood must have been downloading something....). I've heard of some people reporting 10+ hours of download time if the connection was bad, slow, or kept timing out.
So, you need to give it plenty of time. And, it is not installing during the download - it is only downloading. When done, you will get an installer window. At that point, I suggest that you dismiss that and go to your Applications Folder. Copy the installer somewhere safe so you don't need to do it again (you can also use it on your other machine). After that, double click the installer and click on install.

  • Mac OS X Lion will not reinstall on MacAir

Have MacBook Air 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo/2Gb/128Gb with SSD which I was preparing to pass on to friend saved then erased my data but
Mac OS X Lion (purchased June 2012) will not reinstall using option 2 in Disk Utilities.  Can anyone tell me (in simple terms!) what my options are please.

See this knowledge base article:What to do before selling or giving away your Mac - Apple Support
Note that if the MBA came with Snow Leopard, not Lion, you are supposed to erase the SSD using the original Mac OS X install disk that came with the MBA.  You cannot give away the computer with Lion installed if that was not the original operating system since it is permanently tied to your Apple ID.  The new owner will not be able to update anything tied to your Apple ID.
If it came with Snow Leopard, insert the DVD, restart and hold the C key, then use Disk Utility from the DVD to erase the SSD and then Install Mac OS X.

  • Mac Os X lion installation not working.

os x lion installation not working, when the installation bar comes to 99% a pop up widow tells me that the installation has failed and the file could be damaged or something. But i just downloaded it from appstore. Any ideas?

Here's an update on my problem:
Called Apple Support the other day. They basically told me that they can't help, because this is a problem of misconfiguration and that those kinda things weren't covered. Still the person on the line gave me a hint, I should look for leftovers of previously installed software in /Library/LaunchDaemons/ and /Library/LaunchAgents/ .
Well, that did the trick. In one of the folders I found "net.shrew.iked.plist". This file obvioulsy belongs to the ShrewSoft VPN client. I removed it and the built-in client works again.
I reinstalled ShrewSoft one more time to see if it works without the mentioned plist-file...needless to say it wouldn't connect anymore, but that's alright with me - for now.

  • OSX Mountain Lion download not included on MBPr 15"?

    Hello everybody!
I have a Macbook pro retina 15" and just accidently bought mountain lion via appstore beacuse a thought it was free as my macbook was shipped with mountain lion. I was not logged in on my account so the buy button did say the price, I just assumed it should be free as I already have it on my mac so i pressed it and logged in on my account to proceed the download, I got a receipt of it today.
should it be this way? I just wanted to make and USB bakup of the OS for future needs. It's not alot of money, I just think it is a bit wierd.

Since your system came with Mountain Lion pre-installed you wouldn't use the App Store version as your pre-installed version is specific to that machine.
To get the InstallESD.dmg file for your version of ML you need to redownload it using the following steps:
Restart using Command+R into the Recovery HD.
Plug in an external USB drive with at least 20GB.
From the OS X Utilities menu select Reinstall OS X.
Follow the prompts and make sure you point to the external USB drive to install to.
IMPORTANT: You need to keep an eye on the download and as soon as it finishes and restarts your system (at the black screen), UNPLUG the external USB drive.
After you system restarts and you get to your Desktop, plug the external USB drive into your system and navigate to a folder name something like "OS X Install Data Files". Inside there you will find the InstallESD.dmg file.
Copy the InstallESD.dmg file to your Desktop.
Plug in a USB thumb drive (8GB). Make sure it is formated as Mac OS X Extended - Journaled and with the GUID partition table. This makes it bootable.
Open Disk Utilities; then the Restore tab.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg file to the Source text box.
Drag your USB thumb drive to the Destination text box.
Click Restore. This will create a bootable USB thumb drive with the pre-installed OS X Mountain Lion for your machine
    Good luck!

  • Mountain Lion download not working on my MBA.

    Hi,
I am hoping that someone can help me with this.
I am trying to download onto my MBA - Mountain Lion. I have successfully downloaded onto my iMac. When in the App store - Downloads it says,  "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."
    Help!

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
    Click Go
Move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading Mountain Lion.
If that doesn't help, disable anti virus software and try turning off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privay > Firewall
If nothing above has helped, install the appropriate combo update.
For Lion v10.7 >  OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client Combo)
    For Snow Leopard > 10.6 > Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
The combo will reintsall the App Store for you which may help. Restart your Mac after the combo is installed. Try downloading Mountain Lion.

  • Trying to format and reinstall (lion download not working)

Recently finder completely stopped working so i decided the best option was to just reinstall OSX lion, I didnt recieve an install disk but noticed there was an option to reinstall on the start up disk menu.
I have erased all of my partitions and i am trying to download the lion installation to my ssd, it runs for about an hour and 30 mins then fails. I am relatively new to Macs and have inherited this one, so please excuse if my terminology is a bit sketchy.
    Any suggestions?

From the Installer menu bar in Recovery, select
Window ▹ Installer Log ▹ Show Errors Only
    What error messages are shown?

  • Need to reset forgotten initial login username on Mac running MOuntain Lion, vol not showing at recoverpassword, Need to reset forgotten initial login username on Mac running MOuntain Lion, vol not showing at recoverpassword

Hi - I've stupidly forgotten a log in password on my new iMac running mountain lion, tried the recoverpassword prompt by Command R and then terminal - all OK, but my computer is showing no volumes - and therefore no existing users so I'm unable to reset the password. Can anyone help? I'm tearing my hair out.

You are not selecting your boot volume. That would be the one indented at the top of the list. The one labeled "Macintosh HD." The internal hard drive would be the entry above Macintosh HD. I can't read it in the picture.
Are you able to boot the computer normally? If not, then boot from the Recovery HD. Try the resetpassword routing:
    Forgot Your Account Password
    For Snow Leopard and earlier
Mac OS X 10.6- If you forget your administrator password
    For Lion/Mountain Lion
        Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen   appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow instructions in the dialog window that will appear.
Or see Reset a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Password and
OS X Lion- Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
