Mac OS X take a long time before shutting down...

Hi everyone,
I have a problem that I can't explain :
My mac book pro take a long time before shutting down. I don't know why.
When I click shut down, everything works normally.
OS X quit my applications, the dock, the finder...
But it's stay 10 minutes on my desktop background before the logout and finally the shutdown (what's the matter ? what does it do ?).
I don't know what to do to find the problem...
Maybe it's a process but I don't know how to localize it.
What are the minimal processes in OS X (I'll try to find the problem by elimination) ?
P.S. Sorry for my basic English... French native.
Thank a lot for your help !

Hello everyone !
It's me d.bertrand (I had a problem with my account...) So I create a news account (sorry moderators) !
I try to fix bugs with onyx but no results.
Here my log files (I shutdown OS X at 11:48 and he really shut down at 12:04... 16 minutes !)
With Onyx I look into the log file... And find that :

  • WAN MINIPORT ERROR AND TAKES A LONG TIME TO SHUT DOWN

    Few days before,my device manager was showing yellow exclamation mark in wan miniport(ikev2),SSTP and another area, which i can't remember.So i searched on forums and use  another software to fix this.The link to website is  - https://www.vpnhosting.cz/index.php/clanky/wan-miniport-repair-tool-solve-vpn-and-dial-up-error-code-720-and-similar-ppperrors.html
    i followed the process but now when i boot my laptop it does not show wan miniport driver initially on device manager .After long hours it shows wan miniport drivers but again with yellow excamation mark.I think it tries to install the driver at the beginning.Now
    the problem is, when i shut down it takes a  very long time with a huge fan operation noise.Many times it goes in to hibernation state to avoid overheating.Sometimes i have to forcibly shut down using the power button.Now  when i start it , it again
    does not show wan miniport drivers in device manager.This way the cycle continues and many times my laptop does not get a proper shut down.What do i do? please help me..

    Hi,
    May I know thw error code displayed in the problematic wan miniport drivers? Code 720 as in the link you post above or other error code?

  • Why it takes long time to shut down after i upgrade to OS X ver 10.8.2?

    why it takes long time to shut down after i upgrade to OS X ver 10.8.2?

    Can't really say, but I see this occurring on all of my Macs since the 10.8.2 update and keep reading about it at several other Mac user boards.
    Bottom line: it's a general problem, but more of an inconvenience, than a serious problem. Probably will be solved with the next update.

  • MBP takes long time to shut down

    Hi,
    Recently my 13" Mid 2012 MacBook Pro has been taking around 30-40 seconds to shut down whereas it only took 3 seconds before. The system itself is as responsive as ever and the OS and hardware seem to be working well, but the hard drive seems to be taking a long time to stop. Please help. This is very worrying.

  • Is it ok that the new Mac IOS update take a long time?

    Guys,
    I have more than one hour waiting for the new Mac IOS update. Is it normal? The screen is only with the Apple and 1/4 of progress. Thanks! Ricardo.

    The update is about 1.5 GB. So the time to download it is entirely dependent on your Internet connection speed.

  • I always see "connecting" on tabs when I click a link. It takes a long time before the page appears.

    When I click on a link on most pages, the word "connecting" appears on the tab, with a small rotating arrow, which stays like that for 20 seconds or so.

  • My macbook air takes longer time to shut down even after having 32GB of free space in it.

    Please give me solution fast.

    And that's tested with your Mac? That's fast (I only get about 23Mbps with my ISP!).
    You should have no trouble with slow page loading. You might want to change your DNS's through the Network panel in System Preferences. I would try the OpenDNS servers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    If that doesn't help, call back...

  • Why it takes a long time for my MacBook Air to turn on?

    I brought my MacBook Air at a Power Mac Center to fix vertical lines on the screen. The vertical lines were removed. But since then, when I turn on my laptop, it takes a long time before it actually turns on. Sometimes, after pressing the power button, something seems to run at the upper left corner of the keyboard (near the power adapter) but it takes me practically hours before it actually turns on.
    And when it is turned on already, I observed some unusual behaviors happening:
    - Sometimes, while it is turned on, the battery status in the menu bar looks operating normally, but after a while, the trackpad will no longer work until the battery status says, "No Battery Available" and "Power source: Power Adapter".
    - Sometimes, several horizontal lines appear on the screen then after a while the laptop will hang up.
    - Sometimes, the sound sounds abnormal then after a while the sound no longer operates, and when I check the Sound at the System Preferences, it says, "No input devices found"
    - Several applications do not work anymore, like Calendar, TextEdit, Reminder, Facetime, Preview and others.
    Please help me figure out the problem. I cannot use my laptop as regular as before. I can no longer catch up with paper work deadlines because of these problems.

    Please, help me. I need an immediate response so I could try to fix the problem because I need to use my laptop right away. Pls help.

  • My 2011 MacBook Air suddenly takes a long time to shutdown!

    My 13-inch Mid 2011 MacBook Air running OS X 10.7.2 used to take less than 2 seconds to shut down. Recently it's been taking a lot longer time to shut down. Usually it takes 15-20 seconds, but occassionally never shuts down even after waiting for over 10+ hours. I just see the loading wheel keep on spinning. I've checked the disk permissions, ran ONYX to clean up everything, reset PRAM, and read through the system logs. I couldn't find any reason why it's taking so long to shut down.. I'm trying to avoid the last resort of reinstalling OSX 10.7.2.
    Does anyone have any ideas on what's slowing down the shut down process?
    Thank you!!

    I had a similar "problem".  Before the issue, my MBA would literally take less than 2 seconds to completely shutdown.  Then after installing some 3rd party software, shutdown time increased to 10-15 seconds (the screen would go white and then I'd get the whirling activity symbol).  Really not a huge deal but it kind of bothered me and I thought it could be some inefficient process going on.
    Short answer:  There must be some software process that is taking longer to release the resources that it is using before the computer can shut down.  (I'm no expert, so I don't know if I described that accurately)
    It's likely some 3rd party software that you may have installed or some setting in a program.  In my case, I installed 3rd party software that was a user-written driver for the Xbox 360 controller.  I mounted the .dmg and intiated the Installer, then chose "Show Files" from the Files menu of Installer to see exactly where the files were being installed.  Deleted all the files and was still getting longer shutdown times.
    Went into Activity Monitor and chose "All Processes" from the drop-down menu in the upper right corner instead of just "My Processes" and I noticed one process that had a name that was related to the 3rd party driver I had installed, found its location and deleted it.  Apparently, I missed a file location in the Startup Items folder of the current user's Library folder.  After deleting that file, shutdown now takes literally less than 2 seconds as before.

  • Displaying PathGeometry into canvas take too long time

    Hi every one,
    I am working on spatial data with an application WPF and I would like to draw a map from data queries.
    I got my data and I am able to draw them on a canvas with scroll bar and zoom.
    My problem is when I want to zoom or scroll the canvas take a long time before draw the map.
    The big problem is there :
    Dim poly As New Polygon
    poly.Stroke = Brushes.Red
    poly.Fill = Brushes.Orange
    poly.StrokeThickness = 5
    Dim colPoint As New PointCollection
    For i = 1 To geo.STNumPoints
    Dim ls As New LineSegment()
    colPoint.Add(New Point(geo.STPointN(i).STX.Value - extentA, geo.STPointN(i).STY.Value - extentB))
    Next
    colPoint.Add(New Point(geo.STPointN(1).STX.Value - extentA, geo.STPointN(1).STY.Value - extentB))
    poly.Points = colPoint
    masterCanvas.Children.Add(poly)
    so the canvas is "masterCanvas" and i add each Polygon one by one. I would like if it is possible to gather all polygon into one "image" and then when it will refresh the canvas it will draw only one thing.
    Regards.
