Mac Safari can't download from 'download' link or 'tabs'

Hi,
I'm using Safari Version 6.0 (7536.25) and Mac OSX 10.7.4
Since the past couple of weeks I've not being able to download from Safari, when I clicked on a 'download' link or tabs. Usually when we click on 'download' tabs it will automatically starts to download into a designated folder. Now when we click 'download' tabs it either refreshes the page or nothing happens.
I've confirmed that its not the website issue as I've tried with Mozilla Firefox and it works fine...click on 'download' tabs and it starts downloading automatically.
Also checked that under Safari>Preference>Security>Enable Plug-ins is ticked.
Under Safari>Help>Installed Plug-ins...there's a list of plug-ins installed.
Any help is most welcome as I'm a bit dumb founded on this issue.

In case anyone is having the same issue...found the solutions...
Just reset it under Safari>Reset Safari
Keep in mind that this will wipe out all the auto login credentials and what not. So do make a backup of the Keychain file before resetting your Safari.

Serial numbers for older versions do not work across platforms.
At one time, when the product was current, you could get Adobe to switch you to the other platform, but I don't know whether Adobe will do that for old versions. I do know it's not going to work if you try to use your Windows license for a Mac installation.

Can a Quicktime file download from clickable link?

Quicktime file download to desktop from clickable link?
I have large movies that I want to make available for direct download to the desktop so people will click download and do something else.
It is my understanding that you can't provide a quicktime file for download to a desktop because there are PC/MAC and browser issues across platform. But maybe I'm wrong.
Is it possible to make a web page that allows users to download higher file size videos from a clickable link? The quicktimes are h.264 in SD + HD around 50-100 megs. The files will be so large people won't want to wait so I want it to go directly to the desktop.
So far I can only find a few similar options
1) Embed the file in a web page. Provide a download link after the movie loads.
(This option requires you to load the file into the page. Users may not wait and close it)
2) Provide a zip file. This allows you to create a clickable link to the zip which begins downloading upon clicking. You then unzip the file. (Some less computer savvy people may get confused by the zip)
3) Put a raw file on server. This will play the movie in a blank window but can also be right clicked for direct download.

I've seen a few sites that have a link to the video with instructions to "Right-click to download". Essentially, it's option three with instructions. It seems to be a fairly common way of handling it. (Even for non-QuickTime movies)

Firefox problems - Can't open from Downloads - Can't print - FF will not update and more and more...

I've been having several problems with Firefox, to the point that I almost can't use it anymore. In no particular order, they include:
1. When I download something, 'Downloads' opens. When a d/l finishes I used to be able to run an install or open an image from there, but now I get this error message,
Windows cannot access the specified device, path of file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
...but I can go to my Downloads directory and run or open it from there.
2. If I go to File > Print or File > Print Preview, I get this
Printing Error:
"Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer. Do you want to install a printer now?"
and if I click yes, i get this,
"Operation could not be completed."
3. Firefox will not update itself. I go to About, it downloads the new update, and I click the Apply Update button. Firefox closes, and nothing happens. A few minutes later I click to run it, and it opens with a 'Software Update' window that says,
Update Failed
"The partial update could not be applied. Firefox will try again by downloading a complete Update"
...and that does not work.
I download the new version, and when trying to run it from Downloads, I get the error (as in #1 above):
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path of file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
When I go to the folder it's in and run it from there, it installs, but the problems persist.
4. I go to Help|Troubleshooting Information, and clicking the Reset Firefox button only closes Firefox. Clicking the Show Folder button doesn't do anything.
5. I used to be able to drag a url to the desktop, a folder or even a email, but now all I get the the O with a / through it.
6. I also used to be able to, when I click Browse on a site to upload a jpg or a gif, I could right click the file and open it in a photo viewing program (Irfanview or Paint), and now I get
"Windows cannot access the specified drive, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
I've created a new profile and it makes no difference.
I've disabled all add-ons and it makes no difference (I have to disable them manually).
The problems are there for different user accounts in Windows.
I've uninstalled Firefox, and removed the profile - rebooted and reinstalled it, but the problems persist.
What more do I have to do more to completely uninstall it?
I've kinda saved myself by using Firefox Portable, which I'm running from it's own directory. It runs as it should, but I'd prefer not to have to use it.
If i can't fix it, I'd like to completely uninstall Firefox, and just install it new and have it work properly. I have no (or only occasional minor) problems with Firefox on other computers. This computer is Win XP, fully updated

Somehow, I think that means Windows...
I've tried Firefox in Safe Mode - it makes no difference.

Mac Safari can't display ikea website properly but iPad Safari can

Anyone noticed this? I was browsing Ikea website on my Mac mini today, and realize the color and buy online option for the furniture can't de displayed on the Mac Safari, but my iPad Safari can display these options without any problem. I thought it's the Mac Safari, so I switched to Firefox, still, no color and buy online options...

Will not download from download file.

After downloading to download file the file will not open or open folder.

Please explain the situation! What steps where performed? Did you encounter any error messages? How about trying a clean reinstall?

I just purchased CS6 and I can't open from Downloads to install

I see two downloaded Illustrator files on my MAC after just purchasing CS6: an exe file and a 7x file, whatever that is. Neither opens. How do i get the install going?

I can't go from a link in my email to Safari

It may help to clear the following information from Safari, then restart your device.
Follow these steps to clear information from your device:
To clear your history from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Clear History.
To clear all cookies from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies and Data.
To clear other stored information from Safari, tap Advanced > Website Data > Remove All Website Data.

Cannot download from the link

on clicking on the email link it takes you to Adobe.com ok but when you click on the file to download it opens up a new window and the status bar says it is finding the site but never down loads the file, i have updated the flash player and tried it out in other OS but no joy

Can't install from download. need to provide previous serial number, but how?

Due to fried hard drive I need to re install CS 5 from My Orders. Entered the serial number got green check but then I was asked for serial number of a previous CS product. I have it but can find palace to enter it.

Mac won't open pdfs from web links.

I am running Mac OS v 10.5.8 and it suddenly stopped displaying PDFs that are opened via web links. All I see is a grey screen with the file title.pdf at the top, no error message. Has anyone experienced this or aware of a fix? Soooooo frustrating.

Alternatively, you can select any PDF file from Finder, hit Command-i, or right click on the file and select Get Info.
From there, change Open With to Safari.
Then hit the button Change All.
And done.

My downloads tab is not updating, I have to manually retrieve downloads from download folder, help please?

For example, whenever we download pictures and torrents, the download tab will update, so whenever we want to view or use the torrent, we go directly to the download tab.
However, after 23rd June, for no reason, all new downloads do not show up on the download tab. I have to manually open the download folder to search for the files or torrents. May I know the reason why this happen or any way I can reverse this?
