Mac Server is always busy!

Hy everyone,
I have been trying to publish a page of photos through Iweb for a week and I keep receiving a message that says "the server is presently busy, please try later". Since it has been a week, I don't think the problem is that the server is busy. It must be something else.
I have been using IWeb for a couple of weeks now and I never had this problem before. The page I am trying to publish has 93 pictures. Is that too much? I use an G4/IMac and MacOS 10.4.7

I think this is another one of those network timeout messages that iWeb spits out. It was probably taking longer than expected to upload or download from .Mac...maybe iWeb wasn't getting confirmation of all the bits getting there.
Anyhow, I'd recommend trying a different internet connection if that is possible (like if you are working on a MacBook or something). If you are using wireless, try hooking up directly with an ethernet cable. If you are using a router, I have heard reports of power cycling the router making a difference (turning it off and back on). Or try bypassing your router and hooking up directly to your cable or DSL modem. The point is just to try different combinations of things that are under YOUR control.
Also, if you have your iDisk mounted while you are trying to publish, try unmounting it from the desktop (eject it) before you publish. Just keep trying! Like you, I doubt that the .Mac servers have been too busy all this time....but network conditions can change all the time....not only on the internet at large, but also within your own network.

If your password is accepted, and Mail connects to the account, but you're prompted for the password repeatedly, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Note: these steps don't apply if the server rejects the password. That's a different problem.
Step 1
When prompted for the password, check the box marked Remember this password in my keychain.
Step 2
Check that the keychain is working.
Step 3
Check that the default keychain is unlocked.

My online number is always "busy" even when its no...

I have troubleshooted and posted on here and changed privacy settings and upgraded to the latest Skype version and have been in a continuous online feedback loop w/ Skype desperately looking for answers. MAD!
My 3 month online number does NOT work, and now Skype is sending me emails saying that I can extend it. No way. I want my money back, and I want the number to work. Do I really need to buy MORE credit in order to get an answer? will absolutely abandon skype.

I'm experiencing problems with Skype Numbers in Brazil, code 5511 3042 - São Paulo.
My Skype Number is always busy! I've tried change at preferences, it was working, but now the all day is busy....

Post .mac site to another domain name still on mac server?

I have both a domain name that is .mac and a .biz url. I do not have another server to upload to (I just own the domain name), and would like to use my .mac website designed using iweb '06 v.1.1.2 and load it on the mac server but have the .biz url be the url the public will use... this is for a business website. How do I do this?
The directions in all the help files assume the use of another server holding the domain name... maybe this is a requirement, but seems to be a waste to have a .mac account but have to have such a convoluted url for the public.
Is this possible?

Hi there,
little correction: they don't assume having another server. They assume having it registered from a domain registrar. Which is quite different. You have to tell the domain registrar to point the domain to .mac.

Replacing a windows server with a Mac server

Hi all,
So this is a big company with about 150 employees using PC's (win xp and 7), considering replacing the current Windows server with a Mac server.
Is it possible to give users profiles once they log in like Windows server does? So when the user logs in they get to their own personal stuff? Can Mac server do that?
Can the user also get to the default printer and send prints to it regardless where they log in from inside the company?
And can the home directory to each user NOT be copied anywhere on the local machine where they log in? Meaning that after they log out there will be no traces to their files on that local PC..

Regardless, please plan and test and plan some more, very carefully !
The picture for what you want to do once looked far better with 10.6 server but that had its limitations as well.
With 10.6 server, Apple was using Samba - they are no longer doing so,
but/and the version of Samba they were using only provided NT-Domain level support.
So that would not work with your Win 7 stations either. But could be made to work relatively well with XP workstations. You can no longer buy any new Mac that runs 10.6 server and 10.6 server would be hard to obtain.
Not a great route to go.
Bear in mind that the key problem with Apple's Samba was that Samba changed their licensing,
and there's not a thing in the world Apple could do to implement a current version of Samba without violating their own operating principles and the licensing requirements.
You'll be heading into heavily uncharted territory here. Odds are good that any desired domain-functionality is not going to work for you.
Honestly, Apple appears to have thrown in the towel on directory-level support for Windows,
and the best way to support Windows workstations in that regard is with Windows server and AD.
Basic filesharing works, with some caveats.

According to the picture, it seems that we can use SSIS 2012 support is not included in SSDT-BI for VS 2013. And based on the previous versions, SSIS always different from SSRS, SSAS.
SSDT-BI for Visual Studio 2012 supports versions of SQL Server as follows:
SSAS project can target SQL 2012 or lower
SSRS project can target SQL 2012 or lower
SSIS project can target only SQL 2012

Mac server hangs every few days. where to look for cause?

I have a Mac server that hangs every few days and requires a hard reboot.
It is run headless so we have no screen feed back of what is happening when it hangs.
It is possible that just the network communications fail. But it is in software because a reboot restores the situation everytime.
I could use some advice on where to look for possible causes: which logs, or dumps that are produced by the system.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Note the timestamps of the BOOT_TIME log messages, which refer to the times when the system was started. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
For example, if the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down for three minutes before you forced a restart, post the messages timestamped within three minutes before the boot time, not after. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract—not at the beginning.
If there are long runs of repeated messages, please post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
☞ When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
          DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". A shutdown stall report has a name that ends in ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. It's possible that none of these reports exists.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash or panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
☞ Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Online Number Always busy

Hi,
I have setup an online Number in Geneva, Switzerland last week. After setting it up, I have tried to test it by calling it but its always busy. I wonder if there is an activation period for such numbers. If this is so, can any body tell me how long it takes for online numbers to become active?

Your Online # should become active within a few minutes of purchase. If it didn't please
first check that your privacy settings are set to ''Allow calls from anyone''.
Then change them to "Allow SkypeIn calls from Only people from my Contacts List".
Save and wait for 5 minutes.
Log out from your Skype account and log back in.
Change settings back to "Allow calls from Anyone".
Save and wait for 5 minutes.
Log out from your Skype account and log back in.

Does mac server 3.2.1 open directory support object class "sambaSamAccount"?

Hi:
I use open directory to be a directory service in mac server 3.2.1, and in client side is a linux os.
I want the user can access data via samba. So i add "objectclass: sambaSamAccount" to user by directory utility,
and i also copy linux samba.schema replace the default samba.schema but always show the error message.
The attribute value could not be used because it does not meet the requirements of the attribute.
What problem with it? I miss do something?

However I tried drag-dropping the folder to the field where you browse for backup and it found contents as it requested passowrd for archive. I input it but then get this:

It's called from iTunes. After downloading some podcasts it currently consumes two threads on my 4 core Mac mini (4 real cores with 2 native threads each). That means 200% busy. For hours. Earlier versions of Mac OS X / iTunes did not have this problem...
How can I get rid of that behavior?

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.
