Macbook Air Problem

My macbook Air storage says that it has 57 GB of "other" i was wondering what it was and how to get rid of it.

It's all the other files on your drive that cannot be classified into the other categories.

Problem to install a USB Ethernet Model A1277 to MacBook Air (release 10.7.2)

I ended up taking my Air to the Genius Bar to get it fixed. The tech deleted the /System/Library/<something> which forces a rebuild upon reboot. That didn't fix it.
Reinstalling Lion from the recovery partition did fix the issue.  There are other threads on this topic in the forums.

  • MacBook Air problems

I have a MacBook Air with Mountain Lion.  I just noticed today that I'm not getting a start-up chime when I turn it on.  Also, for a couple of weeks now the following has been happening intermittently:  When I open the lid, sometimes I don't get a sign-in prompt and the screen is totally black.  I close the lid and open it again, and the prompt appears.  Also, sometimes I get a kind of 'ant races' screen (white), so again I close the lid and reopen it and it's ok.  I'm worried that something is failing here.  I should point out that I'm no expert in computers.  I went online to research this and tried an SMC reset, but that didn't do any good.  I had resinstalled the operating system a couple of days ago since it had been running really slow since I installed Mountain Lion, taking about a minute to power down.  It used to immediately turn off when I hit the power button.  I hope these descriptions are clear enough and would sure appreciate any help anyone can offer!

I did the pram reset and that seemed to solve the problem.  However, this a.m. I started it up, no chime, and I was getting weird boxes dragging on the screen that I couldn't get rid of when I tried to log in.  I closed the lid and it came back up normally.  So I ddi another pram reset.  I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'm afraid I have a bigger problem.  Can anyone offer any input here?!

  • Dlink - macbook air problem

I have bought a dlink router, at first there was no problem, but later on my macbook air started using up to 40 min. to find the router, now it can't find it at all. What can I do to make my air find the router? I have a another PC with windows 7 that finds it, also my phone has no problem finding it. What is wrong?

    Hello,
the dlink routers normally cause no serious problems with MAC's. The problem may be located in the settings of MAC and/or Router. Eventually also the Router have only a "hickup".
    First Aid
Switch OFF the wireless network on your MBAir
delete the (your) network from the "known networks" list in the System Settings of your MBAir
    reboot
    rejoin the wireless
You may eventually also reset (start over) your dlink while on ALL wireless units in the net the WiFi is switched OFF.
Give the router a few minutes to run up
Then reconnect all participants one by one. Reconnecting the next one not until the previous have a clear connection to the wireless.
If none of the above solves the problem or you have already tried that, it would be very helpful if you may provide us with some infornation about your infrastructure and settings either in the router and the MBAir.
    e.g.
    router type
used protocol(s) with the router in your wireless network
    used security method
used band (2.4GHz, 5GHz or mixed mode)
eventually used "older" systems in your wireless that eventually need compatibility mode
    wireless configuration of your MBAir
and so on. Whatever you think it could be a useful information.
This will be very helpful for us to help you on fixing your problems.

  • Handsoff macbook air problem yosemite

hi, I have a macbook air 2011 and yosemite but the handsoff dont enable... I try ALL OF tips of the world but nothing.. why apple decide to dont support this mac?

Just to post an update: I noticed that if I reboot my Macbook with the HDMI plugged in, sound comes up normally.  The problem starts to happen when I unplug the HDMI cable (i.e. to take my Macbook with me to work) and plug it back in.  Anyways, I've been doing this ever since I bought this Mac and never had the issue when using Mavericks.

  • IRig Macbook Air Problem

I've just bought iRig and I can't get it work with my Macbook Air.
It's working with iOs, but when I plug into my Macbook Air nothing it's happening.
I went to System-Preferences -> Audio  and I can't see nothing signed as External Microphone.
I read over the web that this could be a problem of Mountain Lion, is it true? I really need to get it work with Garageband to record my guitar!
(I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on MacBook Air mid 2012)

  • New MacBook air problems transferring music from macG5 OSX. Not enough space

Just got a MacBook air and having problems with migration assistant. It is showing I don't have enough disc space to transfer from my Mac G5 running on OSX 10.5.8. The main thing I want to transfer is my iTunes library. Would love to transfer all my photos too. I have tried just checking the music box and nothing else but it still says not enough space. How can I get my music library?

It's probably right. You need to install a larger drive in the MacBook Air or skip those for now and put them on an external drive later.

  • MacBook Air problem with Remote Disc

I am trying to upload a disc to my MBA from a shared MBPro.  Remote Disc recognizes the shared MBP and the CD but cannot access the data.  Any suggestions?

Actually the restriction DOES apply to an audio CD.
    From this document:http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2057
"MacBook Air and Mac mini do not support playing DVD movies or audio CD media with Remote Disc. In addition, some discs, such as game discs, may be copy-protected and are therefore unusable. To play DVD movies, audio CD media, or copy-protected discs on the MacBook Air or Mac mini, use the MacBook Air SuperDrive."

  • New MacBook Air, problems on desktop and loading

All day my MacBook Air has been "loading" something (rainbow wheel on desktop screen). I have tried turning it off with no luck. I can move the mouse around but can not click any of the Apple Finder File Edit etc buttons. None of the files on my desktop are showing up either, and the brightness (and assuming) other keys don't work either.
    Please help!

  • Macbook air problem using airplane power

I was on a Continental 737 using my normal power adapter - when plugged in the track pad would not function properly. It would not respond to my touch. When I unplugged it, every thing was OK. Any one else have this problem?

You may find helpful information in below link:

I had the very same problem on one of my visits out of country and resting my palm on the palm rest when using the trackpad solved the problem.

  • MacBook Air problem please help.

    This is soooo frustrating...
I have just turned my MBA on and I had my Samsung camera plugged in.
A message came up, and it was the Bluetooth tool trying to find a keyboard?..... I have no idea why I have never used a Bluetooth keyboard.......
And at the same time my keyboard and my trackpad won't work only the on off button works.
I have rebooted about 5 times and the same thing happens.....
    Please help its hugely frustrating.
P.s I don't no much about macs at all.....
    Regards
    Tom.

Hopefully you can see a bluetooth icon in the upper right portion of your screen.  If you click on it (which I hope you can do ), turning off bluetooth will be one option.  Then maybe you can proceed.

  • My Macbook Air(2012) and Apple TV won't mirror!!

I purchased New MacBook Air August 2012 and Apple TV last month.
They are updated as the most recent versions.
They all are up-to-date and they are all on the same network.
They work sometimes, and most of times it won't airplay. (they don't conncect properly to each other.)
I don't want any answers about "get updates and they need to be on the same network."
Oh My home sharing is on, too. but doesn't work. they are under the same ID.
Internet works Fine!! because I can download everything on the Apple TV.
    EXCEPT!!! Home Sharing and Airplay
I think it's Apple TV problem because I have iPhone5 and when my MacBook Air works, iPhone works too.
Do you think I should bring it in to the Apple Store??
I thought it was my MacBook Air problem because it wasn't updated properly, but nope. I think it is the TV.
Please help me. I'm so frustrated- about this- I was so excited about this, and I had problems from the beginning.
    Apple lovers!! Help me

    jeanster15,
I think you are saying mirror works sometimes but not others?  If that is the case then it is likely interference from a household appliance or something near by knocking your network.
As you purchased you MB Air around the time OSX 10.8 was released, if you have NEVER had mirroring, confirm you have that OS and now OS X 10.7 Lion.  Even the most updated Lion will not mirror.
If neither of these are the case I have mis-read your post.

  • When I login to my bank, I get the message: 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. Have new MacBook Air with Yosemite. How to solve this problem?

When I try to login to the website of my bank, I get the following error message:
403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.
I have a new MacBook Air with OS Yosemite installed.
What is the problem and how can I solve it?

Some websites require a special client certficate for access. If you don't have that certficate, you'll have to contact the site operator to find out how to get one.
Sometimes the problem is caused by a web server that is configured to request an optional client certificate. Safari treats the request as mandatory. In that case, other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome may be able to connect to the site, because they ignore the request.
The first time you were prompted for a certificate, you may have clicked through a dialog that requested access to the Apple certificate in your keychain that is used to secure the iMessage service. In that case, you may be able to regain access to the site in Safari by doing as follows.
    Back up all data.
Double-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    com.apple.idms.appleid.prd
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Paste into the search field in the Keychain Access window by clicking in it and pressing the key combination command-V. An item may appear in the list of keychain items. The Name will begin with string you searched for, and the Kind will be "certificate."
Delete the item by selecting it and pressing the delete key. It will be recreated automatically the next time you launch the Messages or FaceTime application.
The next time you visit a site that prompts for an optional client certificate, cancel out of the prompt. You may have to do this several times before the server stops asking.
