MacBook Air unresponsive after opening iTunes after upgrade to 11.1

I recently upgraded my MacBook Air to new version of iTunes, I believe it was 11.1 if that was what came out yesterday, and now the computer is unresponsive once I open iTunes.  A sign in box for a premier networks podcast is displayed but I am unable to enter any information as it will not allow any input.  The iTunes and apple menu cannot be accessed.  The only way to regain control of the computer is to force quit iTunes.  The podcast that the sign in box appears to be associated with is a PBS podcast that was deleted a very long time ago.

Webcam not working for Macbook Air 2013 after upgrading to OSX Mavericks? Yahoo/ Google/Skype cam chats not working. Facetime works though. Any updates of Mavericks released to fix this?

I have a MacBook Pro Retina display: 15.4-inch late 2015 with OS X Mavericks install, only on second week.
Insight works on FaceTime, Skype, but yahoo program does not show insight cam in dropped down.
Now when I got my new MacBook Pro, I down loaded all new Skype (worked tested), FaceTime (Worked Tested), Yahoo (not worked)
    Fix:
With the new Maverick you have to use there messager program Version 8.0 (4218). Once I add my yahoo account video works again.
It also supported AOL, AIM, Google Talk, Jabber.
Guess I miss it frist time... hope this helps...

I just tried the link and it is just fine. If the GateKeeper pops up then open Security & Privacy preferences, click on the General tab, set the last radio button to Anywhere.

  • I have nothing on this macbook air just iPhoto and iTunes and the error startup dic full message keeps coming up and the storage is full of other i don't know what to do.

i have nothing on this macbook air just iPhoto and iTunes and the error startup dic full message keeps coming up and the storage is full of other i don't know what to do.how do i delete all of this?

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight as described here. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can also use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • If i buy macbook air 128GB but i wan to upgrade to 256GB can~?

i use a macbook air 128GB but i wan to upgrade to 256GB can~?on apple store

No, or at least not without voiding your warranty.  Neither the RAM nor the storage on MBA or retina MBP is considered user serviceable nor is it an upgradeable part through Apple.
You really need to buy any of those all-solid state machines with what you want, as that is all it's ever going to have.

  • Macbook air freezes after login on internet

    Hi
I'm having an issue with a student's macbook Air, running 10.6.7 fully updated.
What happened is it was working fine, she was just having a website pop up issue, so I ticked the "Auto Proxy Discovery" setting, like all other macbooks.
Then I quit Safari and opened it again, it loaded some of the Apple page and beach balled. I can move the mouse but everything else is frozen, cannot force quit, so had to hold down the power button. The same thing happens in Firefox. The kicker is that it all works in Safe Mode and I can browse to a website just fine. (All students are required to login to the proxy server)
It works fine in normal mode if I'm just using Word or anything not requiring internet.
She has had this problem before, but it was fixed by the previous IT guy and she did say it ran out of power last night and shutdown. This just seems so strange!
Thankyou for any help in advance.
    Pierre

Ok I have an update which is most interesting.
The student said it worked fine at home over the weekend. They brought it to school today and bam, as soon as they log onto the network it will freeze if it gets any internet traffic. I cancelled the proxy login when opening Safari then it froze after 3 seconds, but I still believe it's internet traffic related.
I turned it off and back on, but didn't log onto the network just yet and it works fine, obviously getting no http traffic.
I guess when I couldn't find the power button like a normal macbook it decided not to like our school

  • App Launching Unresponsive After Upgrading to Snow Leopard

For reasons I do not quite understand, launching any app, and doing many things within them (basically, instantiating any process) is extremely slow after upgrading to Snow Leopard. For instance, opening a new window in Terminal takes a full 22 seconds (I've timed it) to go from "login" to the zsh prompt. Before, it was instantaneous. There is nearly nothing installed on this computer other than the bare essentials and some documents.
This is obviously very frustrating and detrimental to my productivity. Here is what I've tried:
    - Reinstalling from scratch (I've now tried this two times). First, I backed up my home directory with SuperDuper and manually copied everything over. Everything was fixed, for about two days, and then it started doing the same thing again. Then, I cloned the entire disk with SuperDuper and restored from it. Again, everything was fixed for a little while and then I had the same problem again.
    - Most recently, I tried "Verify disk" in Disk Utility. This returned that there were errors (an "invalid directory count"). Therefore I rebooted into the installation disc and ran "Repair Disk", which outputted that the disk was repaired successfully. However, I rebooted back and now have the same problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is going wrong? My first thought was that perhaps the hard drive is failing, but I've dual-booted Linux on another partition and it works fine.
I am very confused. How can I fix this?

    Have you updated iTunes?

  • MacBook Pro Slow after upgrading OS

Hey guys, I'm having a problem my MacBook Pro is running incredibly slow after upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  I started having the problem originally after upgrading to the latest version of Mavericks. It is just incredibly slow for some reason, things are lagging upwards of 2-3 minutes I got sick and tired of it so I installed a brand new 120 GB SSD from PNY, and installed Snow Leopard because that's what originally came with the computer, I figured it'd work best. When I installed the 10.6.3 disk everything absolutely FLEW! Then after I upgraded to 10.6.8 it is like frozen molasses and I don't know why.  It's a fresh install and doesn't have anything going.  However when I open up the Activity Monitor it says that my CPU Usage is being ate up by system processes and I don't know what to do.  I also started it up in Safe Mode and it works just fine like that.  Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I've got a Mid 2010 MBP with a 2.66 GHz Intel Cor 2 Duo and 4 GB ram.  I upgraded my HD to a 120 GB PNY SSD.

And make sure there's enough free storage space.
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage  Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space. Less can slow your Mac down.
Make sure your Mac's software is up to date. Click Software Update from your Apple  drop down menu.
    Repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility located in your Applications > Utilities folder.
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
    Click:   Repair Disk Permissions
This can take awhile so don't be alarmed.
Restart your Mac after Disk Utility is finished
Reindex Spotlight: Spotlight: How to re-index folders or volumes
Check to see if the startup disk needs repairing.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If Disk Utility reports errors, start up from your Mac install disc to make repairs.

  • 10.6.5 installed, MacBook Air dead after restart

I've just seen a report that somebody killed his MacBook Air with the 10.6.5 update. How does that happen? Is the upgrade safe to install? The report was on trick77.com

I (tried to) update to 10.6.5 on my Macbook Air 11.6" last thursday evening. *Sadly this resulted in the death of the machine*. Despite being connected to mains through out the machine never restarted after the install. *Pressing the power button does absolutely nothing*.
I took it in to the 'Genius Bar' the following morning. The 'genius' told me there was nothing that could be done. A replacement is on its way.
Luckily i had everything backed up so haven't lost any data but it is still a major inconvenience. Because mine was a custom spec (4GB ram instead of 2GB) they were unable to replace it in store - i have to wait probably a week an a half for it to be shipped and delivered.
*_My advice:_ definitely do a full backup before updating to 10.6.5, but if were you i'd wait a while. There's a number of reports of this issue, and there's bound to be more over the coming days as more people attempt to install the update. You can live without 10.6.5 for a week or two, wait until more is known.*

  • Macbook Air freezes after standby and boots with Questionmark-folder

    Hello Apple Community,
    My Macbook Air 2011
    i5
    4gb ram
    128ssd
    Lion
started acting up recently. After waking it from sleep (on any of the 3 hibernate modes) it freezes(beachball, no reaction) as soon as I use an application.
Adding to that, everytime I boot it needs around 4-6 attempts to boot and not show the questionmark folder.
I did reset NVRAM and SMC, which brought very short relief, but after 2 or 3 boot sequenzes it stopped working again. I then repaired the disk in recovery mode which seemed to fix the boot problem. However, the sleep problem still persisted. I changed the hibernate setting from 2 to 1, because I assumed a harddrive problem. After that though, the mac did not wake at all after sleep and I had to force a restart. After that, the questionmark folder was back...
Does anyone have any input? I really dont know what to do, it seems both RAM and harddrive broke. However, when it boots properly it runs like always, no problems, what so ever.

Time to send it to Apple for repair...
