MacBook can no longer connect to the Internet in anyway

I have a 2007 MacBook which has always connected to the Internet with no problems until the other day I turned it on and could not connect to the Internet.
I have tried Wi-fi and Ethernet and it says it is connected yet when I open my browser (I have tried safari and chrome) it says it cannot connect to the server or, with chrome, the connection attempt was rejected.
I have tried this on my home network and also at work and it is the same.
I've checked my settings against other discussions on the forum and tried things like flushing the cache but no luck!
Please help!
Thanks

It is possible that your domain name servers are not functioning. Try using OpenDNS - enter the following in your System Preference > Network > DNS Servers.
208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
Best of luck.

  • Can no longer connect to the internet with the 580...

Hi, my PC was able to connect to the internet with my 5800 via a USB cable.  Now, I can no longer connect to the internet with the 5800 via a USB cable.
I had never tried connecting the computer to the internet with the 5800 via Bluetooth prior to this incident, so I tried that.  Strangely, it works.
My question is how come I can no longer use the 5800 via USB as a modem, but how come the 5800 via Bluetooth still works as a working modem?
Sorry, if my sentences are confusing.  I have a terrible headache at the moment.  While the Bluetooth connection works, I just feel better using the USB connection and knowing that my 5800 has a clean bill of health.
BTW, my PC is on Windows 7 Professional at the moment.  I've tried uninstalling the Ovi Suite and reinstalling it, but that didn't work.  I've also tried using PC suite instead of the Ovi Suite but that didn't work either.  What other options do I have, beside hard resetting the phone?  Thanks in advance.
Edit: BTW, the message shown when I tried to connect to the internet with the 5800 USB modem was "failed to establish a network connection".

    Hi,
I am so  much tierd by trying to connect my phone to pc.
I have nokia 5800,and I used to connect my phone to PC by USB cable.
But from last 5 days I could not able to connect it.
    The problem is that,
when I connect phone to pc,notification comes up that phone connected via ovi suit, but within  a minute or 2,
"porable device" icon disappears from the task bar in the right hand corner,so connection could not proceed further.
Please help me in this asap.
    I had tried following already:
    1.format my PC
    2.Installed new ovi suit
now please give me a proper solution on that.
    thank you.

  • How can I deauthorize a computer that can no longer connect to the internet or is no longer working ?

How can I deauthorize Itunes on a computer that can no longer connect to the internet or is no longer working ?

You can't, which shouldn't be a problem unless you have 4 other computers authorized with the iTunes account and you need to authorize another.
Once you have authorized 5 computers, you can de-authorize all computere from a computer that is currently authorized followed re-authorizing the current active computers that need to be authorized.

  • WRT54G ver. 6 can no longer connect to the internet after reset

I reset my WRT54G ver. 6 to clear the password, and now I can no longer connect to the internet with it. I can see the router itself from my PC, but that is all. I've followed the directions here for connection problems, but I can't seem to get an IP Address for it in the Web Configuration tool. Anybody have any thoughts?

Since you reset your router, you need to reconfigure it back again. try the online utility that automates the configuration. download Easy Link Connect utility at www.linksys.com/connect then download "Netset" and follow instructions.
if not Easy Link connect didnt work then you need to do the configuration manually.
    1. check physical connection modem should be connected wired to internet port of the router then PC to numbered ports of the router.
    2. Brighthouse i believe is cable connection, right? try power cycle your devices (turn off modem and router then turn on modem 1st then router next). check if your online.
    3. if not. check PC ip. click "start" then "run" type in "cmd" then press "OK". the command prompt should pop-up. type "ipconfig" and check IP and gateway. you should be getting an ip: 192.168.1.x and gateway: 192.168.1.1
    4. access router. open IE, then type in http://192.168.1.1 on address bar.
    5. you will be prompted with username and PW. "admin" is the default password. on setup, just below are subtabs. select "MAC address clone". in it, set "mac clone" to "enable" then click on "clone" then "save settings".
    6. power cycle devices again. try to go online
note: if you dont have latest firmware. try updating if needed

  • IMac Can No Longer Connect to the Internet

My parents use a 2006 Intel Core Duo iMac (the 17", 1.83GHz model) running OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). They typically connect to the internet using a wireless network set up using an Airport Extreme with RCN as their ISP.
As of yesterday, the computer can no longer connect to the internet, while all other computers in the house, both Mac and PC, still can. I've tried power cycling the modem and the router, connecting using ethernet, and connecting the computer directly into the modem. Thus far, none of these attempts have succeeded. I've taken a look at the network settings for the computer and while networking is most certainly my thing I wasn't able to detect a change. As a last ditch attempt I tried using Google's public DNS service, rather than RCN's default, but that made no difference, so I've reverted it.
I realize that the information available in this thread is almost certainly too little to guess at what the problem might be, but I'm more than happy to fetch information that might be helpful in finding a solution.
Thanks for taking the time to read the problem; hopefully there's an obvious solution.

JJ247 wrote:  I typically say a restore would correct any software issues but your drive is dead.
"Drive is dead????" what in this thread gives you that idea? What card might be failing?
Agent: do you have any Input Managers (might be called Input Methods) either in the Home Folder/Library or in the HD/Library (not /System/Library.)
Yes, do try another Account and test for this there.
I know you've already tried Google DNS, but try OpenDNS
You don't need to go to the OpenDNS site to use OpenDNS. Simply open Network>Advanced>DNS in Sys Prefs and enter the following numbers for the interface you use, e.g. Airport or Ethernet,
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Hit OK and then Apply. Make sure those numbers are entered above any others you may have there.

  • Thinkpad Twist s230u: Can no Longer Connect to the Internet

    Hello,
Several days ago my Lenovo Thinkpad Twist suddenly stopped connecting to the internet. I was at the cafe using my phone hotspot and everything was fine, but then when I got back home, it could not detect any wireless networks in my house. I thought it may have just been my wi-fi but my phone could connect to the wi-fi just fine. I tried plugging in my phone again for personal hotpot and it could detect my phone, but no longer connect to the internet (it'd say that it's connected, but no pages would load). I tried rebooting my computer, but the wireless networks still could not be found and my phone's hotspot could no longer help it connect to the internet. I tried a Malwarebytes Scan but that didn't detect anything, and my McAfee virus scanner is not gonna help me find anymore viruses (long story as to why I don't have a better virus protection).
Can't really install any updates since I can't connect to the internet at all...rebooted several times to no avail...
Any sort of help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
    Sincerely,
    Ingrid

I just started to have similar problem. I cannot connect to interent via ethernet or wifi. Both connections show I am connected, but cannot acces any web pages. It is like it is not connected. I would like to know how to restore back to when I bought it, 12/20/13, and then re-load the Windows 8 pro that is somewhere on the partition HD. Any help out there?????? All my other devices/laptops/computers work fine on the internet.

  • I can no longer connect to the internet from any other device.

Having successfully upgraded to OS X Mavericks from Snow Leopard I can now no longer connect to the internet from  any other device.  I have an iPhone 4S, a Galaxy Tab, and an internet radio, none of which can connect to the internet since the upgrade.  They connect to my BT Home Hub without a hitch, it’s just that they do not connect at all to any website.  All was fine before the update.
The upgrade was to my iMac and that’s fine, no connection or surfing issues.

  • 10.6.8 some devices can no longer connect to the Internet

I have a home network with two MacBook Pros (let's call them MBP1 and MBP2), two iPod Touch, and an Airport Extreme connected to a cable modem. All networking and Internet access have been working flawlessly.
Then we updated both MBPs to 10.6.8. Now, out of the four devices, only MBP1 can still connect to the Internet. MBP2 and the two iPods can see the wireless network, but can't connect to the Internet.
We tried a variety of things suggested in other message threads on MBP2: install the 10.6.8 combo update, fix permissions, trash preference files, to no avail. We reset the Airport to factory settings and set it up again. We ran Disk Warrior on MBP2. We have exhausted everything in our bag of tricks.
Anyone else experience something like this?
Is 10.6.8 a red herring, and is this due to something else?
    Help!

Linc... I followed your advice and started looking elsewhere for the problem. I remembered one thing that was different on my laptop: some time ago, I switched my DNS settings to use Open DNS.
So I checked the DNS settings in the other laptop and the iPods, switched the DNS setting to Open DNS, and everything works like a charm.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

  • Can no longer connect to the internet...

I got my Macbook about 2 years ago and since then, I have been able to connect to the wireless network in my house and various other locations just fine. Yesterday, I took my laptop to school, connected to the wifi there, browsed the web a bit and then went home. When I got home, I opened safari and it told me that it could not load the webpage because my computer "is not connected to the internet". I have tried to restore my connection, but all my attempts have failed. I "forgot" the network and reconnected, used network diagnostics (which basically told me the same thing as safari), and the only way I have been able to connect is through an ethernet cable attached directly to the wifi box. We have several other devices in the house (PC, Mac, Ipad, 2 iphones) which have all been able to connect just fine. Any ideas on what I should do?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Assuming other machines can connect to the internet wirelessly in the house, and it can't connect wirelessly in the house and outside, that says something is either wrong with the airport driver, preferences, or the card got loose. The machine is too young to have a dying CMOS battery. So to test the former, clone your hard drive twice, and erase and install the operating system that came with the MacBook. Setup the wireless network with a non-altered operating system and see if it will connect. If it does not, then your airport card somehow got loose and needs to be reseated, or replaced. This is not a user installable part. So if it is under warranty, bring it in. Otherwise look at http://www.ifixit.com/ if you want to fix it yourself, or look at these repair shops which may be cheaper than Apple:

If an erase and install works, then carefully bring over data which will not affect your airport connection from your backup. Use this tip:

I used to always use my personal hotspot and connect to the internet on my laptop. Then one day it stopped working. It now says it's connected to my iPhone and there's internet access, but when I try to do anything it says not connected.

  • The memory in my imac is going away i can no longer connect to the internet

I have an old imac running 9.2. never knew how to use it, so only used it to connect to internet.never had a problem till last week. our pc has been a problem child , so my daughter took the time to figure out how to play her games on the imac. Then one day it would not connect to the internet and gave a #2error(not enough memory) I have spent the last week deleting everything on the Imac. Some stuff would not empty out of the trash but most would. we have turned off all the unnessecary(cant spell) items (i think) and it keeps getting worse I can not even access the help menus. I tried everything it said to do in the memory hepl section turned on virtual memory and the thing will not reclaim any memory at all? I have thrown out all of the game icons i could find. Got the trash to empty (with help on phone)with the option key while empting the trash. Tried to run outlook express after a restart holding the shift key but it said it needed the quicktime installed and I do not know how to install it if it is in the computer already. Help I don't know what stuff must be deleted to get the memory back and usable. there are only outlook express and a printer connected to the computer. There are a few photos on the hard drive and about 10 photos on the desktop(but i deleted 100 that were there when the outlook express worked with no problem. Can any one help?? Please???

Hi, when I use my phone as a personal hotspot I can no longer use the Internet on it. I know some friends that whilst their phone is set up as a hotspot they can still use the Internet on it, how can I get mine so I can still use the Internet whilst set up as a hotspot? • I can no longer connect to the internet via Airport Extreme.  HELP!

Over the weekend my Macbook told me that my Airport extreme firmware needed to be updated, so I did that, now I have no internet connection from the Airport. I have no problem connecting to the Airport itself, but I have no actual internet connection. The connection is fine when I plug an ethernet cable directly into the computer.
I really hope someone can help with this!

Hi DaveX83 and welcome to the discussions.
    A few things to try.
Press the reset button once on the back of your Extreme and let it restart. Check for proper operation.
If no help there, keep the ethernet cable connected, and open Airport Utility. Click on Manual Setup near the bottom of the pane. On the next screen click the Airport icon at the upper left of the pane, then click Wireless in the line just below that reads Summary - Time Capsule - Wireless - Access.
Check to see that your wireless is set up, security set up, passwords, etc. You may need to reconfigure your wireless settings again and update the Extreme to store them and restart.
    Hope this helps.
