Macbook doesn't see my network connection

My Macbook Pro (bought July 2012) doesn't see my wifi network at home but see others available. When I join other networks in different country (I travel a lot) and come home I can see it but when the mac goes to sleep I cannot connect again. Tried to find the help online, nobody seems to have the same issue. PC sees the network just fine.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

  • Apple TV doesn't see my network

I have a relatively new ATV - bought within the last 4 months or so. Initial set up without a hitch. Now, this morning, it disconnected from the network and I can't get it to reconnect. I've unplugged it, done a reset on my Airport Extreme base station, etc and it doesn't see my network. It sees a number of other networks in the vicinlty, but not mine. I've tried typing in the name of my network - nothing.
    Anybody have a solution?
    Thanks!

ok, never got the Apple TV to work wirelessly, but ended up moving an AP Express to the TV and plugging in the ATV to the e-net port of the express. not really the way I wanted it to work, but it does.

  • Macbook CAN'T see wireless network while others can

    Hey,
I've searched everywhere and can't find the answer. I have a macbook and am visiting Norway from the US. I am in an office with several people and they can all "see" the wireless network but I cannot. BUT I can see several other networks from neighboring offices. I can connect just fine to the wireless connection at my hotel. Also I have no problem "seeing" and signing on to the office's wireless using my iphone, but as I said my macbook doesn't even see it. I tried "other" and typed in the name and password (several times) but to no advail.
    Any suggestions o wise ones?
    Don Anderson

I do this at home for enhanced security.
Unfortunately it does not add any security. The network name is still broadcast between any connected clients and the base station. Therefore the network name is easily discovered in just a few seconds.

  • Hardware Diagnostics Test doesn't see my network

I have a mid-2010 Macbook Pro that I just purchased, refurbished.  I need to run a hardware diagnostics test on it as I am getting kernel panics after installing Adobe Creative Cloud.
I have confirmed that I have the ability to run this test.  I hit option D at startup as instructed but when I get to the screen to choose my network, Mac doesn't see it.  I even tried a wired ethernet connection and it's not seeing it.
I'm sitting in the same spot in the house as always and I can access wireless just fine when I start up normally.
    Can anyone help?  Thanks!

The AHT is almost completely useless, so you're not missing much. If you want to run it and you don't have the discs, you can order replacements from Apple customer service. You would do better to start a new thread describing the actual problem you have, rather than what you think is causing it or how you think it should be solved.

  • WES610N Doesn't See 5ghz Network

    Hello,
I have two WES610Ns running Firmware Version: 1.0.06 (latest) and they only see 2.4ghz networks. Performing a Wireless Network Site Survey or configuring the network manually doesn't see the 5ghz network. (Other devices are connecting to the router on 5ghz)
The router in question is an Asus RT-N56U running OpenWrt Barrier Breaker 14.07.
I have found a few posts with the same issues, but no solutions. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks,
    John

Hi there, john_p_lynch! It's odd that you have experienced it with the two wireless bridges. Have you tried adjusting your router's wireless channel? I would suggest that you try reflashing the firmware of the wireless brigdes. After that, do a factory reset and reconfigure it. This is to make sure that it doesn't have a corrupted firmware.
It would also help connecting it with another dual band wireless router for further isolation.

  • Macbook will not see wireless network

My new Macbook will not see my wireless network. My Windows 2000 PC, my Ipod touch and my Macbook Pro (jaguar) all see it no problem and work well with it.
I have tried entering the network name manually and it does not work. I have WEP password protection.
The macbook sees and connects to all other wireless networks I've encountered (father-in-law's house, Airport departure lounges, hotspots etc.). The macbook also sees my neighbours networks no problem.
    I am confused, please help.

I am having the same issue, a friend visited with his new Mac Mini, running Leopard, and it would not see the wireless network, that 3 other macs (PowerBook G4, iBooks G4 and G3) running Tiger (10.4.11) and Windows machines recognize without problem.
I'm wondering if the issue is Leopard and 3rd party routers or MY router in particular, as I have a US Robotics 5461, and I remember when a previous roommate replaced her G4 iBook, running Tiger, with a MacBook Intel running Leopard, she also had issues connecting wirelessly.
My friend's Mini had no problem recognizing all the neighbors networks (at least 4 or 5) and I'm pretty sure they are not Mac users with an Airport Base Station.
I was hoping to upgrade my G4 PowerBook (once I get it repaired) to Leopard in the future, but I don't want to lose the ability to connect to my wireless network.
Has anyone running Leopard run into this problem and found a solution?

  • Changed my Airport Name XP on my Macbook can't see my network

The OSX side of my Macbook see's my Airport Network just fine.
But, I need to run some updates on the Bootcamp XP Win side of my Macbook.   (which used to work just fine)
When I run the Windows "Scan" for networks, it doesn't even see it.   So, I can't proceed to my Network password etc.
It does see other networks at homes in my neighborhood.
My iPhone and iPad recognize the Airport Network, but not my XP.
    Help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Got it solved.
I had hoped the "scan" would see my Network.  Turns out I had to manually add the network in Windows.  Up and running now.
    Have a great day.

  • MacBook can't see wifi network

    Hi there,
Please help! I'm setting up a wireless network and my macbook can't see the wireless network.
The bizarre thing is that my friend's macbook sees it and connects with no problem. My macbook sees other wireless networks, but not mine! What's going on?!
    I have done the following
    - checked that it's turned on. (turned airport off, and back on, and restarted the computer)
    - checked that the router is broadcasting the SSID
    - checked the network name and password are correctly entered.
    - tried entering the name/pwd directly into the "preferred networks" setting of the Network Preferences pane
what else could I do? I'm at a loss.
    Please help.
    thanks!

    Solved my own problem.
Although the wifi router was set to broadcast the SSID (and only one of my macs could see it), I changed the settings so it was NOT broadcasting the SSID, then plugged the appropriate settings into the System Preferences pane, and it worked.
    crazy. but it works.

  • Macbook can't see external HD connected to iMac

    Hello,
I just bought a Macbook and set it up with my iMac on the wireless network. Everything else works fine, but my Macbook can't see the external drive that is connected to my iMac. I want to be able to back up the Macbook to the drive. I tried turning on file sharing on the iMac and adding the LaCie drive to the list of shared folders, but its still not showing. Is there something I need to change or configure to get it to show up?
    Thanks

I believe this Airport update, released in the spring (2008) did enable AirDisk usage with Airport Extreme wireless devices:

MacWorld: Update allows Time Machine backups on AirPort Extreme
    http://www.macworld.com/article/132613/2008/03/airporttime.html
Unfortunately, it is Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) only, and I see form your stats that you are still on Tiger (10.4).
It will be interesting if Tadd's tip works though. Let us know.
    Cheers!

  • Set Macbook Pro to see home network

I have a home network that I have several laptops that are linked with my desktop. I print by net work going through this desktop. I also have access to an external harddrive that stores all photos and music.
My question is how do I set the MacBook up to see this home network so I can print through this computer and see the external hard drive.

Ok i guess I am not under standing or I am not explaining. The mac is on the WIFI "my wireless router which enables it to be on the internet.
What I am wanting to do it get into the files and share the printer which are connected to the other computer "Windows".
I have set up other "window" laptop computer to share the computer and print on the printer. I can not get the mac to see any other computers in the house that are all on the same router. One of these is also a macbook.

  • My MacBook keeps switching the primary network connection to Ethernet cable

I've hooked up a Belkin N+ Wireless Router and it works just fine. Problem is everytime I shut down my computer or put it on sleep, the computer switches it's network connection to Ethernet and disconnects from my wireless network. I have to go into network settings and turn the airport on and refind my network in order to use the internet. Is there any way to make the computer set my wireless network as the primary network and not to change it? Thanks in advance for your help.

I think that you can - from the system preferences menu, select network, then click on the little gear at the bottom left side (just below your network devices), from there, select the option to "Select Service Order", then drag the wireless (Airport) to the top of the list.

  • Time Capsule set up and wifi network OK but MacBook doesn't see capsule as airport device.  Do I need to do a hard reset and start again?

I recently bought a Time Capsule and sucessfully set it up in accordance with the instruction book.  The home network and guest network seem to work fine but my MacBook cannot find the Time Capsule wirelessley.
Initially I set up the time capsule connected to the MacBook with an ethernet cable.  The Time Machine got 30GB way through a 60GB initial back up and then stopped for no obvious reason.  Since then the capsule has not been visible to the MacBook.  I have tried to reconfigure through Airport Utility but even after reperated rescans the capsule remains invisible.
Any help would be extremely welcome.

    1. i would restore the express to factory defaut by holding the reset button on the unit with a paperclip while you are powering it on
    2. if it restored, you should be able to see it in your wifi icon at top of screen as "airport express"
or you can see it in airport utility
    3. then if you want to connect it wirelessly to your time capsule, you would choose "extend network" and put in relevant security and password....this would make the express a wireless access point, fed by your time capsule(main router)
if you chose to do it wired which is a better way if you have access to ethernet port at wall, you would choose "create a wireless network" and then under the "network" tab you would choose "Bridge Mode".....this would make the express a wired access point, fed by your time capsule(main router)

  • My macbook pro can see the network, gets full signal, but won't connect.  When I run diagnostics, it automatically connects, but only if I run the diagnostics.  Why won't it connect by itself?

Macbook Pro won't auto connect to wifi, but when I start diagnostics, then it will connect.  It seems it requires diagnostics in order to get connected to wifi.
    any ideas

    SOLUTION!
I've been suffering from this problem for a few months.  I tried everything suggested by everyone, and then, today, I had a mad idea.
I used to work in a room in the house that's about 12 metres away from the router. It's on the next storey up and horizontally about 8 metres away.  The problem started when I began to work in the same room as the router.
Today I became so frustrated that for some reason I walked into a room about 8 metres away on the same level - Guess what?  I connected with no problem at all. Feeling full of joy I walked back to the room where the router is located - Dropped internet connection within a few minutes!  Walked back to the the room that's 8 metres away and, hey presto! I have a connection. I now realise that the problem was that I moved too close to the router.
I can think of no logical explanation for my experience, but empirically it seems to work.  Does anyone have the faintest idea of why this should be the case?  In the absence of an answer I think I may have to start believing in fairies at the bottom of the garden - I'm just off to set a meal for them.
By the way, I don't know if it has any significance, but the router is a BT Infinity router that has replaced the incredibly unreliable Virgin Media cable connection
