Macbook lagging to Appel Tv.

After installing Yosemite i now have problems with streaming from my macbook to appel tv. Why. No problems with maverick.

There is no adapter to go from Mini-Displayport to composite, component, or S-Video. Apple isn't interested in supporting antique technologies whose quality can't measure up to a MacBook Pro. To connect to your old TV, you'll need to buy something like this combination:

  • Macbook lag when using Parallel Desktop

I always use Parallel Desktop since when college portal website only can be accessed by Internet Explorer, so I installed Windows Xp. The thing is it really uses a lot my RAM memory, only 20 MB of Ram is free. In Parallel Desktop configuration, I have changed the RAM slot for virtual machine, I just allocated 1064 MB Ram, and it ticked for " the best performance" or in other words I let the processor to do the adjust automatically so my Macbook can run at its best performance. I have also changed the processor in virtual machine to 2(dual-core) but still my macbook lags when I run Parallel Desktop. My HDD is 160GB and I have occupied more than of it, like 60 GB left. I have a lot of vital programs so I wonder if this thing is a major cause of this lagging problem. Any advice what should I do to speed up my macbook performance back?

If you want your Mac to run better, turn Parallels down to 1 core and bump the ram down to 512Mb. Having the RAM up high and the cores up high will allow Parallels to grab more of the resources, thus slowing down the whole computer. Limit parallels to less, you shouldn't give it 50% or more of your machine unless all you do is Window stuff.
Check your graphics config too, if your not playing games in Parallels, turn off 3D graphics and only give it 16 or 32Mb VRAM.

  • Macbook lagging, becoming hard to use

I am running a late 2009, 13-inch Macbook with a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. I am running Mavericks OS X 10.9.4 with 4GB of Memory. I have a 250 GB hard drive, with 36.88 GB free. Over the past few months, I've noticed that my computer lags really badly with just about everything. Opening up applications takes forever, and then once they are open, they freeze up constantly. For example, opening safari windows often leads to freezing (spinning beach ball) and slow loading pages. But it's not just Safari...it happens with mail, iTunes, etc. I've run the basic Onyx Maintenance tasks every so often, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference in performance. Any tips on what I can do to speed things up and reduce the lag and constant freezing? I can provide any additional information that would help.
    Thanks!

  • My macbook lag every second on every game, Including the DOCK!?!?!?!

Okay, as I've explained in the previous thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2667172&tstart=1
My lag is very baaaaad, I cant play a game after i start it and play a minute or two, then it comes. **** found the way to my computer. Satan. It lags a second, then its normal speed again, and then lags a second again, that happens until i play around with the grapich, Its best if i put on highest which makes it lags like *** And then reduce it again, or otherwise. And most of the time it doesnt even work to do that. And the DOCK lags too when i have many apps open. It slows down a second, then it speeds up again, then slows down. Its ******* annoying when im playing a game, like if i run on an edge, or towards one, and it slows down or speeds up, im ******* dead. Its so ******* annoying i dont know what the heck i should do.
    Thank you.

    1. Try to refrain from expletives as they get censored and all those * can leave us wondering what you are saying.
    2. For us here on the forums to help you, we need some information about:
    a. White macbook, 2.26 ghz, 2 gb ram, year, i am not sure, midle 2010 i guess, or early 2010, the edges of it is like, round.
    b. 250 gb, and like 100 gb free.
    c. 2 gb
    d. Any application gets lagged, Minecraft, Counter strike source, Air hockey, i really mean EVERY application. I'm WAY over the system reqs.
    e. The mobile broad band application. But there's nothing else. It lags without that app too. Its way much worse if i restart my computer too.

  • Macbook lagging and the Beachball's getting annoying

    Hello Community,
My Macbook has been having some issues ever since upgrading to Mavericks.  I was running Lion prior to the upgrade and was not having any issues.  Now occasionally my laptop will slow down greatly when using different programs ranging from MS Word, Safari, VMWare, Lightroom 4/5, etc.  It lags displaying the beachball many different times throughout the day with mundane clicks such as selecting the drop down menu for fonts.   I ran the Etresoft and have pasted the results below.  Hope you guys have some insights for me.  Thanks

  • MacBook Lagging

I have an 07 2.16ghz white macbook and for the past few months it has been getting slower and slower. So I started searching around and found out it was running very hot even when the cpu was low. So I bought a cooling pad and now my temps are 140 or below, when they used to get to 180. Now my cool computer is still running slow and I'm watching my cpu and it doesn't get higher then 25% and I always have 1 to 2 gigs of ram free from my 3 gigs. So I'm wondering why my computer is lagging even in simple things like typing.
    Thank You

When you check Activity Monitor, have you changed the pull-down menu from "My Processes" to "All Processes"?
How large is your hard drive and how much free space do you have?

  • Slow 2010 Macbook, lags, choppy, color wheel

I have a 2010 Macbook, (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3) I have 1.30 GB free. My videos lag but the audio is normal, my color wheel pops up a ton, my audio on itunes is very choppy, and my typing is also lagged. Everything that I click on takes its time. I got my computer wiped about 7 months ago, so I was hoping for something easier to do than that this time..
    Not sure what to do-help!

If you only have 1.3GB free, that is probably what your problem is.  It's recommended that you have around 15-20 GB free for normal operation.  I would suggest purchasing a bigger hard drive, or clear out space on the drive you have to allow for a smoother operation of your computer.

  • My  macbook lags...

    Hi,
my macbook is lagging and it is not letting me update because every time I try the software update lags.
it happens with every application that has a sliding window that comes down from the top of the window...
    has this happen to anyone?

HI Nicholas and Welcome to Apple Discussions....
Check to see how much available disk space there is.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. *Not enough available drive space can cause issues like you are experiencing.*
Boot from your install disk and run Disk Utility.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.

  • MacBook lagging and freezing

I have a MacBook Pro (Late 2011). Processor 2.7 GHz intel Core i7, memory 4GB.
I upgraded it with SSD and instead of CD-ROM I put my old Hard Drive. So now I have two hard drives. New SSD (samsung EVO) and old HDD. I installed OS x on new SSD and it's been running very smooth and fast.
Once, I dropped my mac from the couch and there was a beeping noise like a siren. I turned off the computer, then turned it on and it was working fine. Everything worked fine for 3-4 days.
Then, it started lagging. I constantly have a spinning wheel, macbook freezes, it is impossible to do anything even to write an email. Since I have two hard drives, I was able to boot my mac from the old hard drive and it wasn't lagging. Also, when I tried to access files from SSD it was freezing again. Therefore, I assumed that the problem is with the SSD. I tried reseting SMC , NVRAM, booting in safe mode, repairing hard drive, repairing permissions and stuff like that. NOTHING HELPS!! Also, the SMART status for SSD is Verified. Then I completely erased SSD and decided to reinstall OS x. I installed it, but even while installing I could tell it would be lagging, because it was so slow. And yes, after installation of OS x it lags, freezes and all I see is a spinning ball.
Also, I have another macbook pro. So I was able to take my SSD out and connect to another macbook. When I connected it, it worker perfectly on another macbook. So the issue is not with the SSD. Moreover, I connected the SSD from that macbook to my computer, in order to see if something wrong with other parts(not SSD). When I started my computer with another SSD, it wasn’t lagging or freezing, but I can notice that it is slower then it used to be and sometimes you can see spinning balls. However, it was working better. Booting time was also reduced. Then I tried to swap RAM, it didn’t give me any result.
Also, when I connect my SSD to my macbook it starts lagging and freezing again.
So RAM is not an issue. To summarise, the SSD that I thought is a problem, might not be an only issue. Since it was working perfectly fine on another macbook. Even though another SSD worked fine on my laptop, I could still see that it slower and less productive (spinning wheel). So, the issue might be with something else. And I have no idea what is it might be.

Third party 'cleaning' apps should be avoided.  They will not help and all to often with hurt performance.
I have booted in safe boot and it seems to operate just fine there with no lagging.
That is a sign that you have a third party application that is affecting your system.  Essentially you have to remove all of them and reinstall them individually until you identify the culprit.  Down load Etrecheck and post the result and we may be able to speed up the process if it shows a possible candidate:

  • Typing speed lags on black Macbook

I'm a fairly fast touch typist and I've noticed that when I start to really get into it, the typing starts to lag. This happens on every application I've tested it on including Terminal, Adium, TextEdit, Mail and Safari.
Here're the stats on my machine:
2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    Leopard 10.5.6 (fully updated)
With regards to System Preferences the Key Repeat Rate is at its maximum setting and the Delay Until Repeat is one notch away from maximum.
I upgraded the RAM (using Apple certified RAM from Corsair) and ran Apple's hardware check and even TechTool Deluxe, everything checked out fine. I don't experience any crashes or freezes at all which leads me to believe that the RAM is fine. The typeing lag happens even when I have only a few applications running such as Safari, Adium, Mail and iCal, and even when I just boot up the computer. Nothing process intensive in the background. iStat reports 86% idle CPU and 2.7GB free memory, so plenty to go round.
Some forums I've read suggessted resetting the PRAM so I've done this as well, but it hasn't helped. I've seen that others have this problem too but so far no solutions to resolve their issues. I'm wondering if anyone can help?
    Many thanks.

    Great question - I concur ~ mostly.
My white MacBook lagged the day it was taken out of the box. (this is factual as it caused problems when I created my dot MAC account)
Current Specs: OS 10.5.7, 4 GB RAM (upgraded from 1 GB when new), 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2.
The reason I added "mostly" above is that the problem has been greatly reduced, but I'm not sure what I did (or what I may have installed when the laptop was new and it lagged).
Generally I have done the following:
    1. upgraded the RAM to 4 GB (as you did, but it was from Crucial).
1b. replaced a defective (flaky: intermittent) network card (Airport Card).
    2. rid the computer of anything that uses Rosetta by using the Utility "Activity Monitor" and removing loaded software that uses Power PC rather than Intel. I had a few things that required Rosetta and have since stopped using those items.
    3. I run all the software you listed with the _exception of Adium_. To be honest, I run without rebooting and never close anything which leads to many running applications and too many open windows. Everything, uses Intel and not Power PC though.
    4. I suspect it will still happen if the laptop is busy at some task like aquiring a network that has problems, but I haven't recreated a test environment for that - yet.
A simple test that I tried after reading your post was to run my finger over the first row of keys which yielded - qwertyuiop. I've tried it slow and fast with the same results - good, no lagging.
Ramp it up with iTunes playing music and scanning (wirelessly) a document as OCR to text translation with all the other software running (most of it) - still qwertyuiop comes through correctly.
    * I may not be hitting the keys as fast as you are, but I can certainly say that mine lagged for some unknown reason early on. Now, it does not, or I am unable to reproduce situations in which it does.
Is there a way to dictate processor priorities? (I am somewhat new to Apple)
    Good Luck.
PS if I recall correctly, in the past another symptom that my laptop displayed was that it took too long to wake from sleep. Now, it wakes quickly. Of course, it takes a little longer to get into sleep with more RAM installed.

  • 2009 MacBook Pro is lagging.  New hard drive

I was having issues with my MacBook lagging, which I've owned since 2009.
    1.  Nothing could be found wrong with the hardware or software by Apple, so they wanted to wipe the hard drive and restore the OS
    2.  I took it to a business to pull my data from the hard drive.  I ended up getting a new hard drive with the data restored to it.
    3.  I continued to have the lag
    4.  I took the computer to Apple again and we did a wipe and restore of the new hard drive
    5.  Lag continues to exist with nothing on the computer other than the OS
Any thoughts or ideas?  Every time I visit the Genius Bar the diagnostics show nothing is wrong.

How much RAM does it have?
In spite of what Apple says, 4GB is not practically adequate with the new 64-bit systems (Lion and successors). All MBPs from Early 2011 forward, with user-installable RAM SO-DIMMs, can take up to 16GB with no problems and with greatly enhanced performance.
And if you still persist in running the systems with 4GB, make sure there's ample paging space on the HDD.

  • I Need To Know Some Information About Installing Windows On A Macbook Pro 13

    Hello !
Actually Playing My Favourite Games Is A Problem Because I Can't Find DVD Games (Mac Version) For My Macbook Pro So I Found Out That You Can Install Windows 7 Software On A Mac But I Wanted To Know Some Information Like :
    - I Know That I Can Install It Using Boot Camp But I'll Need A Windows 7 DVD So Is There Some Specialized Version For Mac ? Or I Just Need A Normal Windows 7 DVD For PC ?
    - If I Installed Windows 7, Will I Lose The Mac OS X Lion ? Or I Can Have Both Softwares Together At The Same Time ?
    - If I Installed Windows 7, Will It Have The Same Specifications Of Macbook Pro 13 ? (Ex: 2.4 GHz Processor)
    - If I Installed Windows 7 And I Already Had Mac OS X Lion, Will The Macbook Lag Or It Will Work Properly ?
    - If There's Any More Info That You Know About Installing Windows 7 On A Macbook Pro 13, Please Provide Me With It, Thanks!

This really is a forum about the MacBook Pro hardware.  The best place to ask your questions would be the Windows/BootCamp forum.  Your MacBook Pro 13 has one weakness that's going to make gaming a bad experience.  It has an integrated Intel HD graphics processor, whereas the higher end MacBook Pro's have discrete ATI graphics processors.  But the forum will help you out.

  • Optimize my slow macbook pro 2009?

With so information out there, its really hard for me to find a concrete solution to my problem. My macbook lags and its really annoying, even when I have only one application open. Attached are some photos so you guys can get a visual on my system. Help me out? =] BTW I've been using various applications such as CLEANMYMAC, ONYX (which doesn't work on my mac because i'm using the 10.0.6 software =\), mackeeper, cleaned my internet browser cache and cookies. Do I need more RAM? Anti-Virus?

    1. Mackeeper is the problem. Uninstall it.

    2. Adding memory may help.

  • New HighRes Monitor = performance issues

    Hello,
So I recently got a new Monitor (LG 34UM95) wich is great, but my MacBook lags and is not as responsive as without the Monitor.
In Parallels and Inventor it's nearly unbearable, but it's even in Chrome or native OSX programs
Is the higher resolution really the problem, it's 3440x1440, I mean the Retina Display can easily be driven by a HD4000.
    Here my Specs:
    MacBook Pro 15" mid 2012
    2,3 GHz i7
    16GB 1600 Mhz
    Nvidia 650M 512MB (I know  512MB ***** :/ )

I didn't mention I am running Leopard, but I have always run Leopard - I've had no experience in Tiger at all, so I'm hoping it's not related to the new O/S... there's a definite change in the way my macbook is running.

  • Adobe photoshop lagging in my new retina macbook pro, what to do ?
