Macbook powers on than shuts off immediately booting from battery.

Hello guys and gals,
Ok my problem on my Core 2 duo 2.16ghz macbook pro is:
When i try to boot from my battery, it turns on for like 2 seconds than turns off.
Booting from my adapter, it runs just fine it charges the battery and everything. When its fully booted, and i go to uplug the magsafe connector the computer powers off immediately.
however i did find a semi-cure, with the macbook completely off running on battery only i hit and hold the power button until it gives a long beep than it will run fine. I can restart it to without a problem.
When i shut down, the problem occurs again. Please any help will be grand.

I actually have access to 2 macbook pros. I pretty much ruled out the battery by swapping them and they both work fine on the other one. The macbook is a 15"

  • MacBook Pro shuts off immediately after startup

My MacBook Pro shuts off immediately after I start it. It gets to the Apple logo on the grey screen and it shuts down. I have tried launching it in safe mode, resetting the NVRAM settings, nothing works.. Has anyone witnessed similar problems ? What can I do to fix this problem ? Help is gladly appreciated.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Macbook shuts off on boot

macbook shuts off during boot after about 15 seconds. During boot at Apple logo, during a fsck process in safe mode, during a boot into Diskwarrior CD, even during a boot into Leopard install DVD. I am a decades mac user and have never had this problem. Tried zapping the pram, tried resetting system management controller (2 diff. ways). 10.5.8 was just installed, but i don't believe this was an issue. I believe it's hardware related. Any ideas?

    Hi,
I am having problem with my macbook for like a month now. I is constantly shutting off when I start the pc or sometimes while I am using it. Would you know what the problem is. I tried to update software and it seems better for a bit, then it started again. Do you think the geek squad at Best buy would be able to fix it.
    Thank you very much.

    Hello Tara-louise,
I would be concerned too if my MacBook Pro was booting just to the gray screen with the Apple logo on it.  I recommend following the steps in the article below for the issue you are experiencing:

My MacBook Pro starts and shuts off after loading for sometime

Try starting in Safe mode by holding down the Shift key while booting. Safe mode takes a while to load the OS. After that, restart the computer normally.
If that does not work, start up in Recovery by holding down the Command and R keys. In the window that opens, choose Disk Utility at the bottom and verify and repair your disk. Repair permissions while you are there.

  • Macbook c2d mid 2007 shuts off immediatly after AC unplugged

    Hi there,
I have a macbook mid 2007 that shuts down immediately after it is unplugged from AC. I've tried the battery on another machine and it works fine as well as trying a known good battery in this machine. Also I've tried a known good AC adapter. Other things I have done are run the hardware test which shows no errors, reset the smc and Pram, repaired permissions etc. the battery appears normal in the menu bar and says it is fully charged. Also it Appears in system information as normal.coconut battery also appears normal with 275 cycles.I'm hoping the problem lies in the Battery Connector with Sleep Switch and not the logic board. Anyone had any experience with this problem?
One other strange thing is that after unplugging the AC the system shuts down immediately, but once you plug it back in it starts without the power button being pressed.
thanks so much for any advice.

    Hi Cory,
Sounds like you've already done a lot of troubleshooting yourself. As you've confirmed via your troubleshooting it sounds like it's something under the hood.
In terms of order of troubleshooting, it's probably worth checking out the MagSafe board after the Battery Connector/Sleep Switch. Both of those parts will run you less than $70, a whole lot cheaper than a logic board.
I've been servicing MacBooks since the week they went public and I'd say 85% of the time it's the cable (for an issue like this) versus a logic board.

When my mac finally turns on the date/time is reset a windows pops up saying, "Your computer's clock is set to a date before January 1, 2008. This may cause some applications to behave erractically."

  • Why was the program automatally  shut off immediately  ?

I  bought I pad in HK .  When I used QQ and memory note,  when I wrote "我” , the program was shut off immediately , I has to visit the program  again.  Why ?

I cannot speak to this specific instance, but many times, when the pad shuts down unexpectedly, there is simply a memory problem.   Double tap the home button and see the apps in the recently used area.  Most of them are simply recently used, but some do continue to keep some memory reserved.
Double tap to see the task bar.  Touch and hold any of those icons until they jiggle, then shut them down by touching the minus sign.
Them reboot.  Press and hold the sleep and hold buttons until you see the apple logo.  Ignore the red slider.
Going through the task bar and closing off old apps is a good way to keep the machine running well.

  • Droid X powers on after shut off

My Droid X powers on after shut off - this did not happen until after the download of the new operating system - is there a fix?

Wow it's been that long alott has went under this old man's Bridge just funnen with ya Cody.  My X done the little gremlin thing the other day. And it likes to do it in my Incredible as well just this morning par say. I've gotten use to it so much it's like changing under ware!

  • MB Pro shuts off at around 85% battery power.

I've been using the power adapter pretty much all the time with my MBP but now that I've been using it on battery power it has automatically shut off at around 85% battery power. I haven't always had the battery in while using the charger but for the last year I have. I'm not sure if that has any relevance.

Actually, it IS within the specification +for battery health+, which is what I stated above. Apple states, +"A properly maintained Apple notebook battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 300 full charge and discharge cycles."+ This is based on the reading for Full Charge Capacity in System Profiler. BGTD's full charge capacity is 5081 mAh, and the nominal new full charge capacity of a 15" MBP battery is 5500 mAh (rounded down, the calculated value is actually 5556 mAh). Even of the OP has a 17" MBP, the battery is still within health (though barely so - the denominator for a 17" MBP battery is 6300 mAh.
So, despite having an acceptable capacity (i.e., 'health'), the OP's MBP is shutting down with only 15% of the capacity used. As I stated, that's a symptom of a faulty battery.
Furthermore, you are also incorrect when you state, +"if your MBP is over 1 year old, Apple will NOT replace your battery."+ You can certainly state that Apple did not replace your battery free of charge, and I'm sorry for that! On the other hand, my health dropped suddenly to ~60% when my MBP was 16 months old. I +do not+ have AppleCare, and despite that, the Genius Bar replaced my battery for free. The page that I linked to (the top link) states, +"This program extends repair coverage on the battery for up to two years from the date of purchase of the computer for Intel Core Duo-based MacBook and MacBook Pro computers."+ I also pointed out that I am aware of Apple having replaced (for free) batteries of users with Core 2 Duo MBPs under the same program.
As I stated, the best bet is for the BGTD is to visit an Apple Store or call AppleCare and request a replacement battery, based on the information above. The answer may be "no," but I'd argue that it's worth a little effort to try and save US$130, given that there are known and Apple-acknowledged issues with some notebook batteries.

  • My iPhone 5 running ios7 shuts off at 20-30% battery

My phone shuts off randomly when tjhe battery is about 20-30% - I plug in to charge and it will tell me I have more than the battery charge than i saw before it shut off. - I have wipped clean and reinstalled fresh operating system  - 3 times - did not help - Apple gunius bar ( went twice - same issue ) would not help - said battery was healthy - and i had to figure it out cause they were not going to fix it.
    what do i do now...

This is happening to me as well. Tried restoring the phone and setting it up from a backup and the issue was resolved for a few days, then the issue came back. Guess we'll make a Genius Bar appointment.

My 1st generation Time Capsule/2007 keeps shutting off and disconnecting from internet?  What could be the problem?  How long do the Time Capsules usually last?

That it is still working is miraclous.. most have died.. lots started flaking out at 18months to 2years..
    See deadtimecapsule.org
The few that remained now seem to have reached EOL.. you can repair if you have some skills.. fairly cheaply.
But it is well and truly time to replace.

ipad2 shut off after down the battery but when i connect the charger with my ipad2,  its not storing the power in the battery and i also not finding the error code ???

If you drained the battery, it may take a bit for it to come back. I'd plug it in and leave it for a few hours and see if it's charging.
If not, you can try to do a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the white apple, let go and let it reset and see if it charges.
It's also possible that your battery has reached the end of its life. THey can only handle a finite amount of recharge cycles. If you can't get it to hold a charge, then make an appointment at your local apple store and explore your other options.
