Macbook pro 13 doesn't turn on

I have a macbook pro 13, 2 weeks old. I was working with it while plugged in to the power cord then I turned it off and kept the battery charging. After the battery was almost fully charged I unplugged it and when I tried to turn it on I see the power light blinking but nothing comes on. Can anybody tell me what could be the problem?

Try a #1 SMC Reset and see the Apple links, if that doesn't work make a appointment for a evaluation.

  • MacBook Pro doesn't turn on after Win8 bootcamp installation

    Hi,
I have installed Windows 8 on my MacBook Pro Retina 15,7" 500Gb 16GbRAM with the Bootcamp assistant. After that, i lowered the screen (like if i wanted to go on repose mode) and then, my mac doesn't turn on anymore.
All in black, no grey screen but the charge seems to work (the Green LED turns on when i connect it on the electricity, this is the only sign that something is still "alive" there)
Thank you all for the help!

Its coming today, but i am just wondering if this is normal for macbook pro not to turn on randomly?

  • Macbook pro doesn't turn on after full charge?

Hi, I bought used macbook pro yesterday from ebay. The macbook arrived clean in a secure box, i turned it on and it worked stright from there. I used it on battery for like 4 hours and then i shut it down and put it on  charge and went to work. When i came back and i saw the battery was fully charged. i unplugged the macbook pro and tried to power it on. The macbook pro didn't respond, no light, no chime, no hard disk noise and no white screen!!
It just made me so much worried and started looking over the net. I found out some reset options and tried but invain. After all this i was so much  stressed that i tried to contact the seller. The seller said he had it for about two years and never had any problem like that.
However I tried to power it up in morning and it just powered up and worked flawlessly. My question is what could have went wrong there?? I'm just worried if that problem is gonna come back again and again. I never had this sort of problem on my Vaio laptop. Is there anything that i dont understand about macbook or be cautious about??
However I must confess, I used 60W megsafe charger but only when my laptop was switched off and I was aware not to run it on 60W charger.
    Thanks,
    Adnan

  • My macbook pro doesn't turn and has a black screen.  Fan is running though. Does anyone know what to do?

Does anyone have any advise when a Macbook Pro doesn't boot and has a blank screen?  The fan is running but there are no backlights working.

Depending on your model MBP, see Article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377 MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues These computers were manufactured between approximately May 2007 and September 2008
If you are under warranty and/or have AC, give them a call.
Out of warranty, take your MBP to your local AS and/or AASP.

  • MacBook Pro doesn't turn on after 10.7.3 update

Thank you very mucho for your suggestions

  • MacBook Pro doesn't turn on at all

Hello, I am Luixituh, and I am in a terrible situation with my MacBook Pro, the thing is that I have been using it very happily since yesterday I went to use it and I pressed the power button to turn on, but absolutely nothing happened. I tried to check if the battery was dead or not, by pressing the battery status indicator, on the side of the MacBook Pro, it was reported as full, but just to make sure I plugged in the Apple MagSafe charger, it behaved normally until I pressed the power... As you guys know, when you press the power, the fan and HD should start working and the white light in front of the computer should light up, to say it was on, but the thing is that it didn't do any of that nor booted since yesterday, when I found the non-turning on problem...
So these are the symptoms, if you have suggestions feel free to share them, or if not I will just go to the Apple store, thanks in advance for your help, and I hope you know that this impairing my work and that I am really worried about this situation.
    The most kind regards:
    Luixituh

    Dear Luixtuh,
What version of the MBP do you have? The last of the MBPs with silver keys (Late 2007 and Early 2008) have a potential fault with the video chipset that can lead to failures. Please see this Apple Repair Extension Program:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
If the proper model (applies only to those with the nVidea 8600M GT chipset) and the computer fails a test the Apple Store can perform, you qualify for a free repair for up to four years from date of purchase.
It does not apply to any MBPs that have the newer black keyboard.

  • Macbook pro doesn't turns on

    i have a late 2011 13" macbook pro!
i was using it while it turned off and it wont start again.!
I tried to make the SMC reset.! But all i got to hear was fan noise
I don't know what to do now! please help

Try the first few steps here, however I suspect your going to have to take the machine in for service.

The fans blow because the default hardware setting is for them to do that, OS X when it loads, turns down the fans according to temperture.

  • Macbook Pro Doesn't Turn On

    Hi there.
    I have a 15' Unibody Macbook Pro.
Recently my Macbook became unable to hold a charge, but still worked on the AC Adapter just fine.
I didn't take it in right away and used it as is. One night the adapter was pulled from the macbook and it quickly went to sleep, i reattached the magsafe and it came back to life. A few minutes later I stupidly did the same thing and it went to sleep. I attempted to bring it back to life after plugging it back in, but nothing happened. It has yet to turn on yet. What can I do?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I think if you replace the battery and follow the instructions for it's care you machine will be fine.
In the short term do a SMC reset following these instructions:
    *SMC RESET*
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
    3. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
    4. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
    5. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Regards,
    Roger

  • My MacBook pro doesn't turn off whith the "turn off" command in the apple menu

When I try to Restart or Turn off my MacBook Pro in the apple menu the Display turns blue undefinitely but Turn off with de Power Button.

Sounds like you need a SMC Reset, have a Magsafe issue, perhaps a battery issue. Perhaps a power issue in your location, try another outlet, location or power line.
See #1 here and let it charge overnight.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
If you don't want to deal with the local Apple Authorized Reseller, call Apple/AppleCare and since it's under warranty they will send the machine to one of their Apple Authrized Repair centers.
You can take the machine to a local Apple Store and they will test it too, bring the Magsafe as well, it might be broken or not conecting correctly.

  • MacBook Pro doesn't turn off or restart

    Hello!
I have a MacBook Pro 15,4 " 2,2 Ghz Core 2 Duo with Mac Os X 10.4.10 and all the updates. I have been experiencing some problems when I try to restart or switch off the computer. All the programs will close down and the "Mac Os x interface" (The top bar, the dock, the icons on the desktop) dissapear (as they do when you normally try to shut it / restart it), but my actual background picture will remain there for ages, as the computer doesn't restart or shut down.
It just remains there until.....I decide to shut it down by pressing the power on/off button.
Are there any other users with this problem? Should I call Apple/go to an Apple Store (and stay without laptop for almost a week?).
Any advice on this issue would be kindly appreciated.
    Regards.

I ran into a similar situation after I had reinstalled the OS and updates. I tried several things like disconnecting my external drives, forcing a shut down, taking the battery out then outting the battery back in and starting up. I think worked was Resetting MacBook Pro System Management Controller (SMC)

  • MacBook Pro doesn't turn on for any reason

I've got a Mid-2008 (Unibody) MacBook Pro. The battery has always been iffy, so I had it constantly plugged in. I recently made the mistake of letting it run out of battery, and now it's not starting, no matter what I do.
To be clear, I have no LED indicator light, no noises, no startup chime, no nothing. I've attempted to follow the instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1367?viewlocale=en_US
I reset the SMC, and it did nothing. The only indication of a sign of life is when I press the battery level indicator button on the side, it shows that the battery is fully charged.
I tried plugging it in and removing the battery, and that didn't help. I attempted to start it without being plugged in, nothing, etc.
Are there any more things I can try?

Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  They will diagnose your MBP for free and then you will; be in a position to make an informed decision.
    Ciao.

  • Mid-2009 Macbook Pro will not turn on

    Hi Folks,
so my mid-2009 15in Macbook Pro will not turn on. I updated the OS to Mavericks in December 2013. I'm from California, but I recently moved to the Guam/Marianas area where it is more humid and generally around 87 degrees F all day. For the past month my computer has worked fine, albeit I did notice the fan was running a little more than usual. I usually would just put it into sleep mode when I would finish using it (apparently a bad idea based off of reading other posts concerning humidity and, more importantly, heat). One day I finished using it, closed it and the next day went to open it; I could hear the fans start to work, but then it stopped. It hasn't turned on since. You press the power button and nothing happens. I tried all the troubleshooting stuff.
So, my question is this: what do you think is the problem? Moreover, how much do you think it could cost to repair it? My experience with computers suggests to me that it's probably a dead motherboard. I'm wondering if it's worth trying to salvage this thing or if it would be prohibitively expensive. There are no Apple stores in the area to take it in to get advice unfortunately.
Now, I just want to vent a little frustration. I have many apple products, and I've even switched my mother over to an apple computer, but now that I need some very basic support, apple doesn't provide a contact e-mail or a free chat? I think charging someone $19 for 'one time assistance' is ludicrous. I bet if I brought this into an apple store I could at least get some advice, and thus get some idea how I want to proceed with repairs or not. I suppose I'm also rather frustrated that my macbook, which I have been most happy with all these years, breaks because I go somewhere a little more humid and generally warmer? It would appear that the hardware failure is connected to the climate. This makes me skeptical about purchasing another mac if it can't handle a little humidity. (I have not spilled liquids on it, nor have used this computer while transitioning from an air-conditioned/humid location which could potentially cause condensation). I do not think I'm being unreasonable (yes I do think a $2500 computer should not fail after less than 5 years), but if you think I am unreasonable, please enlighten me.
Thanks for any help. I really appreciate it.
    Ken

    Ken,
the “Important Handling Information” in the little white manual that came in the box with your MacBook Pro states that its operating temperature range is from 50 °F to 95 °F (10 °C to 35 °C), and that its operating range of relative humidity is 5% to 90% (non-condensing). If your corner of the Pacific is outside of these ranges, the manual states that “Failure to follow these handling instructions could result in damage to your MacBook Pro”.
I have no idea what problem your MacBook Pro has; since you’ve tried all of the troubleshooting stuff, you’ll need to somehow get your MacBook Pro to a qualified service facility to diagnose the problem. If the logic board does need to be replaced, it would probably cost hundreds of dollars for a replacement, and you might find that purchasing a replacement used MacBook Pro of the same model to be price-competitive with just replacing your MacBook Pro’s logic board.
If you find Apple’s out-of-warranty policies unacceptable, then your only alternative to venting would be to purchase your next computer from a different company which has out-of-warranty policies more to your taste.

  • My macbook pro won't turn on unless it's plugged in

I downloaded the latest software (mountain lion) about 2 weeks ago and ever since my laptop has been a bit slow. today when i was at uni, it wouldn't turn on at all despite having battery (the green lights on the side were lighting up). when i got home i plugged in it and it was fine. the battery icon in the top right has a X through it and when you click it, it says no batteries available!! not sure what's caused this!!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The MacBook Pro doesn't detect the battery. First, to know if it's a software issue, reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 Do the same with the PRAM > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
If it doesn't work, you should consider the option to take the MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller. I highly doubt that this problem is related to Mountain Lion

  • Macbook pro doesn't start up anymore

Guys i got a pretty big problem. My 1st gen macbook pro doesn't wanna completely start up anymore. When i press the startup button, I get the bong and when the apple logo appears, it suddenly restarts. So the bong appears, the apple logo shows up and then it restarts again: this keeps on going and i cant stop it unless i pull out the battery and power plug. I have no idea how this is possible: I did nothing unusual with my computer. The only alarming thing that happened before this was a kernel panic. After restarting my computer everything was fine and the mbp seemed to have recovered. So I then left it as I went for dinner and when i came back, the screen was black en frozen. So I turned of the mbp and then it wouldnt start up anymore!!!
    Can anyone please help me!!!

Place the OSX installation DVD that came with your computer and hold down 'C' during the restart. That should open up the installation/repair screen. There you can check your volume and repair it through Disk Utility. If you can't fix your drive here, you can restart your machine in target mode and backup your drive (given that you have another computer to back it up to) and then hard-format and reinstall. This might be a long and hard process but it should solve your problems. If you have more questions, just post.
    Cheers-
