Macbook Pro - Can't Repair Disk, but I Want to Take Files Off It?

Hi everyone
So I have my Macbook Pro here. It won't turn on. I have had it in a drawer for a couple of months now, as I got a new computer and just now realized I had a bunch of pictures on there that I wanted to move over to my new laptop. Whenver I turn on my Mac now (after no problems when I stopped using it months ago), it goes to the white start-up screen with the Apple logo, and a grey progress bar below it. It gets to about a quarter of the way done and then just shuts off the computer.
This led me to believe it was definitely a hard drive issues. Did a bunch of "fsky -ly" (not sure EXACTLY the keys, but you'll understand what I mean!) commands to try to repair it, but that didn't work. Started in safe mode, which also didn't work. Started it up with Command-R to run disk utilities to see if it could repair the hard drive, but it told me that it couldn't and wanted me to restore the HD and back-up everything I could.
Now, my problem is, I can't get on the computer to back it up. All I want are these specific pictures off of it but I can't start it up or anything to even put them all on a memory stick quick and fix it to pass off to my uncle.
Question is, is there any way to get these files off before I restore the hard drive?
I don't think I can offer too many specs. It's OSX Mountain Lion, Macbook Pro, from what I can remember I think it was mid-2012, but I can't make any promises. If there are any more questions about specs I may be able to remember but none of the top of my head.

you can try the “emergency” backup method on this Apple page in the “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility” section (skipping step 6 since you already know that your filesystem is irreparable). Note that this method isn’t guaranteed to work, given the current state of your filesystem.

Anyone have any ideas? My Macbook Pro can connect to my Airport (v.7.3.1, 802.11n) but not my iPhone or iBook or a Windows Computer or WiFi Blackberry.

Secured or unsecured the only wireless connection that works is my MacBookPro.
I get the message "unable to join network..." The connection is very strong.

G5 to MacBook Pro Can't Screen Share But Can MacBook Pro to G5 ?

I am using the Screen Sharing app built into Leopard and I can see the G5 screen from the MacBook Pro but not the other way round as it will just not connect whatever I try. I can file share no problem. I have checked the system preferences and they are identical as far as the Sharing and Security options are concerned. I have tried over ethernet and wireless but no luck. They are on the same local network and both running 10.5.2.
Anyone any idea or experienced the same problem?

I have about the same thing going on. With my MBP, I can login and share HD, Screen, etc of the G5. Using my G5, I cannot login and share anything on the MBP. Get a connection timed out message, even though the MBP does show up in the sidebar. I tried to log on to the MBP with a G4, and that also wouldn't work. They are all on the same local network.

Broken MacBook Pro can Apple repair for free?

My MacBook Pro got broken and has a shattered screen and dent top right corner, I was told I would have to replace the whole top and the base is dented in a couple of areas and a dented corner too. I was told it would be about a $500 fix and I was wondering is there a way Apple can do it for free? Kinda tight on money.

MACBOOK PRO CAN FAIL TO RESTART ITS VIDEO AFTER BEING CLOSED, LOGGED OFF

Most of the time, if I log off and close the lid, things are fine when I open it again. But, from time to time, I'll have to restart to get the display back. As for more information: I recently got a secondary display (not because of this) and now, when this occurs, the secondary display will come up as the primary display, so it's clear that the system really can't find the primary one. The fact that I have to restart the system in order to get the display back hasn't changed (though, in this configuration, I don't have to use the button to it).
Is this something that others see, or is it my own special problem?

Did you boot to the Internet Recovery Partition?
Here’s how:
1/ Make sure your computer is completely shut down.
2/ You’ll have to be quick next: Press the Mac’s power button. As soon as you either hear the loud chime, or see the display light up - usually after a second or 2 - on your keyboard press [alt] + [cmd] + [r] Keep these keys on your keyboard pressed until you see a spinning globe with the text “starting Internet Recovery” You might have to connect to your Wi-Fi network before you can continue here.
After a few minutes, you’ll be presented with a Utilities screen. This is the Internet Recovery partition. If this step is already giving you problems, try using a USB-keyboard. It doesn’t have to be an Apple-keyboard. If you have a Windows-tailored keyboard laying around, use the “Windows-flag” key in stead of the [cmd]-key and it should also work.
3/ Choose Disk Utility and click [continue]

Tina Hadley did you migrate/transfer your applications over to your new Macintosh? If so this could cause problems with your serial number being recognized. Please run the available uninstallers located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder. Once this is done you will also want to run the CC Cleaner Tool. Not a problem, your computer won't see your iPhone as a hard disk, as such is not supported.

Can't get iCloud mail on my MacBook Pro. I used to, but not now.

I have been traveling, and using all sorts of servers to get my mail through the mail program on my MacBook Pro (Blue stamp icon). But now I am home, and the problem that started while over the road is continuing.
Under iCloud, the mail icon is checked. Under accounts, the only place blank is the IMAP Path Prefix. Port is 143, and SSL is checked. Authentication is Apple Token. Checked are also "include when automatically checking for new messages" and "compact mailboxes automatically"
Any help to get my mail up and running again?

You're going to have to give us more info than "I can't get net flix to work."
What have you done to try to get it to work?
Have you installed Silverlight?
Have you activated you Mac with NetFlix?
How are you accessing NetFlix? (Browser, Boxee....)
Exactly what is happening?

the disc is spinning and I see the apple on the screen with the spinning gear and after a while it just turns off OR the few times it does get past that point when I go into disc utility it tells me that it can not install on this machine!
It's driving me crazy, please help!!!

I'm not entirely sure I follow you here, home sharing comes with iTunes 10.2, so far as I am aware even iTunes 10.6.1 only requires OS X 10.5.8 or better. On that basis I'm not sure why you think you have a problem.

There haven't been any problems with the computer, apart from a sticky curser,I have run a permissions programme from disk utility, there were a lot of different ones, but it seem to be able to fix them.

First backup your users files off the machine to a external storage drive (not TimeMachine!)
Most commonly used backup methods
Next to startup from the disk, have it inserted, hold c or option/alt (wired or built in keyboard) and then boot the computer and or select the disk when it appears and click the arrow.
Disk Utility is under the Utilities menu on the second screen.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
If you used the wrong 10.6 disk, it will spit it out or have issues, use the one that came with that machine or if it's defective, call Apple for a new one.

Wow, I tried to submit this as a problem and the computer lost the wifi connection again, so i lost the whole explanation i typed up.
I've turned off computer and modem multiple times.
When I tried to run the network diagnostic, the macbook pro gave me a "perhaps you are out of range error". I am sitting next to the modem.
My iphone and ipad are wonderfully connected to the home wifi network, so it cannot be the modem/router, correct?
If I am on the same floor as the router/modem then the macbook pro can see my home network but after tyoing in my password and trying to connect i get a "timed out" message.
If I move down one floor, then the macbook can see and connect to the wifi. I only have one modem on one floor.
Is there some sort of diagnostic I can run to see why this particular device (macbook pro) is behaving ths way? It just seems weird because the computer could connect to the wifi network yesterday while i was sitting next to the router.

SOLUTION!
I've been suffering from this problem for a few months. I tried everything suggested by everyone, and then, today, I had a mad idea.
I used to work in a room in the house that's about 12 metres away from the router. It's on the next storey up and horizontally about 8 metres away. The problem started when I began to work in the same room as the router.
Today I became so frustrated that for some reason I walked into a room about 8 metres away on the same level - Guess what? I connected with no problem at all. Feeling full of joy I walked back to the room where the router is located - Dropped internet connection within a few minutes! Walked back to the the room that's 8 metres away and, hey presto! I have a connection. I now realise that the problem was that I moved too close to the router.
I can think of no logical explanation for my experience, but empirically it seems to work. Does anyone have the faintest idea of why this should be the case? In the absence of an answer I think I may have to start believing in fairies at the bottom of the garden - I'm just off to set a meal for them.
By the way, I don't know if it has any significance, but the router is a BT Infinity router that has replaced the incredibly unreliable Virgin Media cable connection

Try resetting your modem. Power it down. Wait a moment, then power it up again. While it resets, do not change what is connected to it.
In another, though unrelated article, Apple recommends the following:
If you have configured your Wi-Fi base stations in the past, it may be helpful to do a factory default reset of each Wi-Fi base station that will be part of the wireless extended network before you begin.
This step really ought not be considered optional for the configuration you propose. If the problem persists after resetting your modem, reset everything else too.
