Macbook pro charger wont work AT ALL!

Words cannot even explain how furious I am. My 9 month old MacBook Pro charger does not work, all of a sudden!
There is no damage to the charger at all and my laptop is in great condition. I need a solution and fast because this laptop has my whole life on it which leaves me irritated seeming i need it for my studies!! I don't know what to do, its 4am in the morning in australia and my laptop is completely dead! HELP!!!!!

Take your computer and power adapter to the Apple Store when it opens in the morning and they will take care of it.
This problem is often caused by winding the DC (computer-end) of the cord directly around the "ears" on the body of the power adapter. The "approved method" is to make a one to two inch (25-50mm) loop in the air, THEN begin winding the cord.
I bought my wife an aftermarket car-charger for her MacBook. In addition to being able to use the computer for a while in the car, now we have a backup. If the regular charger dies, we can recharge the 'Book off the car.

  • MacBook Pro Charger not working, end of cord before the magnet part got detached from it.

for past an hour, my MacBook Pro charger stopped working so took the charger off and tried to fix it a bit by fixing the corn and straightening it or something.. Suddenly, the end of the cord, just before the magnet part, got detached from the magnet part with the pins and all.
i Tried to attach it back, and even if it did enter, I don't think it would continue to charge..
Is there anyway to fix this? Or do I have to get a new charger (which has to be my last resort, because I don't want to have to repair it by removing parts etc etc, or really pay money)

No and yes.  A new charger is in your future.
    Ciao.

Make sure you use an authentic Apple charger and cable.  It doesn't matter where you buy them - a store or online.

  • Macbook pro charger not working.  tried multiple chargers

So about a year and a half ago the battery on my 2009 macbook pro started to bulge.  I did some research on this swollen battery and found that if you kept using it, the battery could explode.  So I took out the battery and have just been using it plugged in.  if my computer accidentally gets jostled and the charger wire comes out the computer would instantly die but that wasn’t really too much of an issue. I happily used my computer like this, with no battery, for a long while and I’ve never felt the need to buy a new battery to use it unplugged.
Lately something has been going on with the point where my charger connects to the computer.  Its one of the magnetized chargers if that makes a difference.  A lot of the time the charger cable won’t connect.  It will magnetize to the computer but no green light comes on and there is no power connection.  Some times when I jiggle the wire around a little bit, the green light will show up and I’ll be able to turn the computer on.  Sometimes the computer will stay on for a while, other times it will barely get to show the desktop before the green light on the charger goes out and the computer shuts down.  I’ve tried using the same 85W charger from a friends as well as bought a new charger and the same thing happens, which leads me to think that the problem might be with my computer and not the charger.  My computer isn’t under warrantee/apple care anymore so I don’t think they can or will do anything.  I’ve been thinking about taking it to an aftermarket computer repair shop and seeing if they can trade out the part of the computer that connects to the charger.  Does anyone else have any advice?  I realize that this is kind of an oddly specific situation because I don’t have a working battery for my laptop.

  • New 2014 MacBook Pro Charger Not Working

I just recently bought a brand new MacBook Pro from my local Apple store a little less than a month ago. Ever since I first bought it, the charger only sometimes works. I'll plug it into my laptop and the light won't come on and it won't charge. I then have to unplug and plug it back in (turning it over multiple times as well) before it will light up and start charging my laptop. When I first opened the box I took the wall attachment off the charger and put on the long cord, so I thought it might have something to do with that cord but I switched to the wall attachment and still had the same problem. The charger also never lights up or starts charging while my laptop is closed, I have to plug it in first then shut it. Am I just somehow plugging my charger into my laptop wrong or is this an actual problem? Thanks for any info!

Take the charger with the computer to the Apple store and get a replacement power adapter.

  • MacBook pro charger stopped working

    I have a lightly used n
MacBook pro 13 inch that stopped charging today. The battery health yesterday was at 95%. The green light on the plug end of the charger is not on. Could ths 80 dollar charge already have quit working?

Thanks. I was afraid of that. I tried several plugs.  It seems like everything we own from apple starts breaking down just after AppleCare ends. Our apple store is really slow in northern virginia. Had an appointment this Afternoon on a iphone5 that won't charge anymore and it still took more than an hour. Get home only to find my Mac charger stopped working today one month after the warranty expired.

  • HT1277 My ICloud was hacked. So the email box on my Macbook Pro isn't working at all. However, I can use it when I login to ICLOUD and my IPhone.  Why will it still not work on my laptop. Help please!

    Hi,
My ICloud was hacked.  So I updated my password and now have my Iphone and the Icloud online email working.  Yet the email set up on my Macbook Pro still will not work and I ran through the troubleshooting.  It has ICloud IMAP.  Can someone please help me with this?
    Thank you.

First, a caution: Do not retry passwords.  Trying random passwords or wrong passwords more than (usually) twice, and that'll usually trip evasion, and you'll get blocked even with the right passwords.  If you've retried random passwords, you'll have to let things "cool off" for a while, and try again later.
Open up the details drawer in the Mail.app Connection Doctor troubleshooting, and re-run the connection tests.  Expurgate anything sensitive from the diagnostics, and post the iCloud-related errors here.
Alternatively, remove the iCloud account from the accounts listed within Mail.app.  Re-add it.  See if that clears the issue.
Alternatively and if the other options here fail, contact Apple iCloud support directly and request assistance.

  • Macbook Pro Charger Not Working in USA

    Hi guys,
I have a 2009 Macbook Pro 2.6Ghz (15") with a 85W MegaSafe Power Adaptor (UK). I'm using a plug convertor and it doesn't charge within the USA.
Am I assuming that my particular version doesn't deal with 100v and I need to buy a USA version?

  • MacBook Pro Charger intermittent working.

    Hello,
I am on my 2nd power adaptor with for my MacBook Pro which I bought in 2010, the last one just died just had flashing lights, the new one about 12months later is being a pain, it will only charge in a certain position, I have to keep the cord tought so that the magnetic adaptor is at a angle in the socket.
Which as you can tell is a right pain in the backside! Anyone else had a similar problem?
Also is is getting Very Hot!
    Cheers Steve

If you moved to the States, then you could get a replacement!
A few years back I had a Power adapter wires on the DC side short circuit due to insulation failure.  I cut the plastic shell of the power adapter in two (along the lines that delineate the two halves  - it was not easy -hacksaw plus heavy duty utility knife)  pulled out the dc wires and crimped on shovel/spade connectors in an idiot proof manner.  Then I taped the connections and the two halves back together and I had a disfigured but serviceable power adapter.  If you are frugal or desperate, you may consider this option.
    Ciao.

  • New Macbook Pro Keyboard not working at all

My MacBook Pro keyboard is completely unresponsive. Any ideas?

    Hey Guys,
I figured it out. By searching some other cursor/mousepad thread: I had to do a PRAM reset. Now it's working!

  • High pitched noise and 13' MacBook Pro (2010) not working at all

A few nights ago my computer starting making a high pitched noise and was immediately slower (barely working at all actually) I feared it was over heating so I shut it all down and let it rest for the night, the next day I went to start it up and the noise started again and I couldnt get passed the white screen that pops up when the computer is starting.
I'm fearing the worst and thinking it might be the hard drive or something. But I thought I would see if anyone else had any thoughts or possibly something I could try.

Applejack is just a command-line "front-end" for a number of different command-line tools you can use in single-user mode, and I'm not sure whether it's Lion-compatible.  You can always try booting into single-user mode and executing:
    /sbin/fsck -fy
That's unlikely to solve your problems, though.  Since you can't boot from two different hard drives and your optical drive, that indicates there's a more serious hardware issue, or multiple hardware issues.

  • The sound on my Macbook Pro isn't working at all. None of it.

The speakers don't work and neither do the headphones. When I turn up the volume, the icon comes up and it looks fine, but it's not making any noise. Like, it will show the animation and everything with no "not working" notification, but the little popping noise is just gone. I've been trying to watch a video for homewlrk all afternoon and it's been one thing after the next--I'm going cazy! Help!

Have you gone to System Preferences > Sound > Output and is the volume slider above the minimum end of the bar?

  • After upgrading to 10.8 my HP Officejet Pro L7580 wont work at all?

When using lion my network HP Officejet pro L7580 worked seamlessly. After upgrading to Mountain Lion it only sees it as a fax. I can set it up as an IP printer but this is a multifunction printer and I can no longer use preview or image capture to scan.
I have tried everything I could find on the subject but to no avail. The printer is even listed on the HP website as one compatible with Mountain Lion.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Greetings Bill,
Is your printer connected via USB?
Try disconnecting the printer, removing it from your printer list via the "-" key, then plugging it in via USB.
It should prompt an automatic download of drivers if you are connected to the internet.
