Macbook pro late 2011. Have power on the battery but doesn't turn on at all. Not even a sound, my mac has stayed turned off in nearly a month and now its not working???
Any ideas to what the problem could be?

I have MacBook Air late 2011 with encryption enabled the mac froze and I pressed the power button to shut it down but then the gray screen appeared no wheels nothing just gray. I tried all steps but nothing helped. Worse than that only the pram key combination works I cant get the cmd-r or just alt or any combination to work??? Any suggestions would help. Thanks!
P.s. I am on mountain lion with ssd encryption enabled. The mac froze when the internet stopped the one from the cable (I use ethernet usb one) when I turned wifi on it froze. I have disconnected everything when trying the steps except power cable.Boot into Internet Recovery (command-option-R at the startup chime) and try to repair the boot volume in Disk Utility. You will have to unlock the volume before you can do anything with it.

I have a Lexmark X1185, but I do not have the driver CD that came along with it. I have a 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2011) and I cannot seem to find drivers for OSX Lion.. Where can I find the drivers? Thank you for the help!

Can't find the Airplay icon! I have a Macbook Pro Late 2011
I have a MacBook Pro Late 2011. Yes I am sure that it is Late 2011 because I looked up the serial number and the website says it is indeed MacBook Pro Late 2011. I just bought an Apple TV and I want to use Airplay but I CANNOT find the Airplay icon on the upper right menu bar. I updated my software and everything but I still dont see it! What do I need to do inorder for me to use Airplay? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
What Mac do you have? It needs to be at least 2011
OSX needs to be at least 10.8
Has nothing to do with Internet, you need to check your local network and also make sure both ATV and Mac are on the same network. Airplay should also be enabled on ATV -

"Recovery HD" is a partition on your boot drive which you option or commnad r key held at boot time to get into and then repair the Macintish HD partition.
If you have this on a external USB thumb drive, then that's all it is, no OS X, programs or files.
If your talking a USB external drive, it has to be a OS X bootable clone made with Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper and the option key held at boot time gives you that boot option.

So what your saying is you have a external clone and by holding the option key down at boot all you get is it directly going to Recovery HD?
There is no Startup Manager option to choose what to boot from?
This could mean Apple changed something, or your external bootable clone isn't one, or the wrong software used so it's not being recognized by Startup Manager as a bootable option.

I didn't know the hdd position is on left on MBP 17" , I thought is the same position like MBP15"
I did't lose any kind of data.. it was fix on time.

I'd run through these steps:
If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.

How do i use my imac 21.5" 2011 as a display for my macbook pro late 2011, through thunderbolt cable ? I have tried and it doesnt seem to work, neither does target disk mode.
Could it be a borked cable ? I just bought it new from the store today, i have updated both imac and macbook pro to latest thunderbolt firmware and updates. Both 10.7.3.

I was able to find these instructions, however they referr to 2009-2011 27" iMacs. I think it's the same, if it's not then contact Apple directly for instructions. If either of the machines is less than 90 days old or covered by AppleCare then call AppleCare tomorrow for help, they should be able to easily answer this for you. You will find the number in your manual or you can use the AppleCare Contact Info link.
Your iMac should automatically recognize the presence of a digital video signal at the Mini DisplayPort and enter Target Display Mode.
If your iMac does not automatically enter Target Display Mode, press command + F2 to manually enter Target Display Mode. -
How do I install the recover portion of OS X 10.10.1 on my MacBook Pro late 2011? It is missing!
When I boot up my MacBook Pro late 2011 while pressing the option key it should show the recovery icon which it doesn't.
How do I install this portion of Yosemite?This was changed with Yosemite. The recovery is hidden when booting with option. Hold command and R when booting to get into recovery (without option). If you see the globe, then it is actually going to Internet recovery, which means you do not have a local recovery.

64 bit allows you to run 32 bit programs

New programs use 64 bit.
There is no reason to use the 32 bit version of Windows. -

According to your profile your Mac is running v10.7.3 Lion.
If that is the case, to reformat the hard drive you need to use Lion Recovery not Disk Utility. -
MacBook Pro late 2011 not switching to ATI graphics when running off mains power.
Hi there.
My MacBook Pro late 2011 doesn't appear to be switching to ATI graphics when running off mains power. It always seems to stay on the Intel adapter instead. I've checked the option in the energy saver settings and it's ticked to "Automatically switch..." and when I untick this box, it switches to ATI and stays that way even when running on battery (as expected). Either way it will not switch to ATI graphics when plugged into mains unless forced to in this way.
Any one else seen this? Very frustrating when trying to run an external monitor with the Intel adapter!

After everything was disconnected did you press the power button and walk away for 5 minutes? Try that, just had one restart after waiting for that long. -

I have a USB charging problems with may MacBook pro late 2011!
both USB ports can't charge my iPone 5 , but the USB ports work's with other devices.
Please, help if some body have information about this issueUnfortunately the problem is not of such a nature, as mentioned ports operate with other devices.
My iPhone is charging normaly when pluged in the socket.

Last week I had the BSOD..... Tried everything what apple suggests, tried everything what google suggests.... Nothing.
I decided to recover from last Time Machine.... Problem only appears when Macbook gets very hot and fans aren't cooling!
Then decided to reinstall clean OS. Until now no problem.....
From my investigation from Apple forums I understand that what controls the FAN's and hardware etc., for this to work correctly I must have latests EFi and SMC updates.
Problem:
In the lists of SMC updates: EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Macs states that My macbook pro Late 2011 (MacBookPro8,2) has to have: 1.69f3 (SMC 1.5) but what I have now installed is: 1.69f4 (SMC 1.7)
So what? I have a incorrect version on my mac? Do I have to (seems to be) downgrade to: 1.69f3 (SMC 1.5) ??If you look at that listing, there are two MacBook Pro8,2 machines, the Early and Late 2011, and the SMC firmware specified is not the same...you have the SMC firmware that table lists for the Early 2011...it is likely the table has not been updated properly since the servers that download the SMC firmware look at the machine serial number and install the appropriate firmware for that machine.
