MacBook Pro Retina won't wake after after sleeping!
On most occasions after my 13" MacBook Pro Retina has been put to sleep (by closing lid or pressing Power button) overnight it will not wake up again until I have reset the Systems Management Controller. Opening the lid, or Power button or Space bar still leaves a black screen.
My wife's new 11" MacBook Air suffers similar problems even after our local Apple Store reinstalled Mavericks in an attempt to resolve the problem..
Any thoughts on a solution would be gratefully received - thanks.

Macbook pro screen won't wake up after sleep
I'm having a strange problem that just started today.
I close my macbook pro lid and put it asleep. Then when I open the lid the keyboard lights up. The screen comes on for about three seconds and everyone looks fine then the screen goes to sleep again. If I close the lid and open it again it comes on for 3 seconds and goes to sleep again.
Occasionally I can get it to stay on hitting Function and brightness keys. But just as often it takes a hard reset to get things working again. But then if I close the lid and open it the problem starts again.
Any idea?
I'm running the lastest Lion update.thanks. obviously i'd like to avoid such a time-intensive move before looking at other options.
To make things more intresting I've fund it ONLY does it when plugged into a charger.
AND if I briefly unplug the charger after the screen comes up black it immediately wakes up and stays on.
weird.
I've reset the SMC. But still get the same issue (if plugged in). -
Macbook Pro (2012) won't wake up from sleep mode
Hi,
When I purchased the Macbook it came with Mountain Lion. It worked fine. Then I updated to Maverick and lots of problems happened. The most annoying one is the wake up thing. I was glad to update to Yosemite thinking that it would resolve my problems. Nope. It still wake up very slowly from sleep mode, sometimes not at all -- I have to shut it down.
I don't know what to do.
(BTW, I tried every trick suggested on the Apple support page: SMC, PRAM...)
Help !

Did anyone buy a MacBook Pro Retina 13" from Best Buy this Black Friday?
I'm having an issue where the WiFi disconnects after the MacBook wakes from sleep but only after a couple of minutes.
Once the WiFi disconnects, I can't reconnect to the same network and sometimes it won't find nearby networks.
I have to turn off the WiFi and wait for at least 5 seconds before turning it back on for it to auto-reconnect to my home network.
If I wait less than 5 seconds, it will continue to attempt connection to the home network but won't connect.
I've tried reformatting and deleting my network configurations as well as resetting my modem, power cycling it, etc.
I am using 2Wire Gateway modem/router from AT&T on b/g network.
I've tried connecting to a friend's network under Time Warner Cable and the same issue occurs.
I exchanged the MacBook at a Best Buy for a brand unopened one (I hope) and the same exact thing happens with this new one.
Really, I can't be the only one with this issue. Unless in a 0.00001% chance I received two defective units in a row?
Please.. does anyone have a clue why this is happening? You're definitely not the only one. I have the same issue. I spent 6 hours over multiple days on the phone with Apple support trying a variety of things (some of which are mentioned above), and none of them worked. They finally sent me a replacement laptop. I made sure to try it periodicaly as I was moving files and installing applications to see if I ran into it again and things seemed okay at first but now I am running into the same issue and it is terribly annoying. I've got 5 other devices that connect to the same router and I've never had this issue with any of them.
My router is a Linksys E2000. I haven't tried changing the router channel but I have tried to cnnecting to other networks in the building I live in and I have run into the same issue there. -
Hi to all, i'm writing because probably there's a bug on the latest osx 10.8.2 so, could you check that what happens to me is equal to you too?
I've a Macbook Pro Retina from about 2 weeks and in the last 3 days i've seen 2 freeze of the system, i couldn't make anything, only force power off with the power button. After some tests i've noted and isolated the issue, so this is what happens:
- remove the thunderbolt to firewire adapter (if attached)
- wait until mac goes to sleep
- go out of sleep
- attach the adapter and...
- system frozen
how i've told the only way to restore is force the mac to power off.
I'll wait your answer and solutions (if there are)
Thank you
This is the consolle where you can see the issue:
and this is when all works fine:I'm having this exact behaviour on my 13" Retina MacBook Pro running 10.8.2 when inserting a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter. System freezes hard, have to hold down power button to reset.

Macbook Air 2011 won't wake up after sleep
My Macbook Air 13" 2011 won't wake up after sleep. I've taken it to apple genies bar, but they offered to replace my logical board!
I bought the Macbook Air in last August. Why cannot they replace a new laptop???One thing you want to do is "Repair Permissions" in Disk Utility before you upgrade to a new revision, and afterward do the same thing.
On occasion files will become inaccessible to the logged-in user and cause certain components of the OS from acting cooperatively. This can most often happen during/after an update. Also, by resetting permissions before an update, it is to ensure that the update process itself can accomplish all tasks.
You may also want to consider applying/re-applying the downloaded 10.7.3 "Combo Update" from the Apple.com/downloads/ section. After resetting permissions, of course. -
MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013 UI Lag after installing Yosemite
Hey everyone,
Ok so my Issue here, and I think I'm not the only one but my MacBook pro retina late 2013 (8GB ram, 256gb SSD) has been experiencing numerous issues after installing Yosemite. For example, the UI lag is at times horrible; after opening several apps, and especially after having a pdf or two open in preview everything becomes so sluggish. the animation of switching to mission control is painstakingly slow, and opening new tabs in safari takes 2 or 3 seconds. I've done a clean install of yosemite but nothing seems to help, what should I do; just revert back to mavericks and cross my finger for a future update?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks so much !i am in the same situation as you, late 2013 retina MacBook Pro 15 inch upgraded to yosemite and then clean installed yosemite b/c of UI lag after opening several apps at once... I found that yosemite drained my battery life too, on mavericks i was getting 5-8 hrs of battery life, on yosemite i was getting like 2-3 hrs most.
After exhausting every option out there (apple store genius bar help, apple repair, etc), I came to the consensus that my macbook had no hardware problems at all, it's basically a software problem on apple's end. and until they update yosemite with a specific fix for the UI lag and the battery consumption problems, i am not going back to yosmemite.
what i did was clean installed back to mavericks... this solved every one of my problems, NO LAG, NO BATTERY ISSUES, back to buttery smooth performance, of course without the new UI however... but i can live without new design
this experience tells me several things: 1. the new apple under the leadership of cook is slowly but surely sacrificing quality of software for unnecessary updates(sales) 2. mac hardware is still good but who knows for how much longer -
Macbook Pro Retina 15" mid 2013 reboots after panic.
Just bought a mid 2013 Macbook Pro Retina last week. Haven't had any problems with it until today when I came back to my computer and there was a grey screen stating there had been a problem and the computer needed to be restarted. Below are the two system diagnostic reports. Is this a bug or a problem with the logic board/graphic switching?

There are also reports that the panic may be triggered by waking an external display from sleep. To test that theory, open the Energy Saver preference pane and click the lock icon to unlock the settings, if necessary. Move the Display sleep slider all the way to the Never position on the right. See whether there's any change. -
Macbook pro (retina) keyboard backlight not working after Yosemite update
Help,
My keyboard backlight stopped working when I upgraded my Macbook pro (retina) from Mavericks to Yosemite. Nothing in System Preferences -> Keyboard makes a change. This is a feature I use a lot. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.Try a SMC reset:

Macbook Pro Retina won't drive HDMI out
So I was talked into the new MacBook Pro Retina in place of a new Mac Pro by the guys at the Apple store. I told them I needed to drive 4 displays and they assured me the MBPr would do that. 2 from mini display ports. 1 from HDMI and it's own display. Fair enough.
Only, the HDMI out seems dead. I am running two Dell monitors on the mini display to DVI connectors. I am trying to run a 3rd Dell monitor on HDMI to Disply port but am getting no signal. None. Nada. After a few seconds the monitor tells me there is no signal from the computer and it shuts down.
I have seen a lot of other issues around the HDMI output. Anyone know the status? Has Apple bugged this? Is there a fix in the works?
Thanks!
CharlesTry with just the HDMI external; display. I would suspect the HDMO cable if this test does not work. Tray a new HDMI cable. If the new cable does not work, take the computer to an authorized service center. There is no "bug" using HDMI to an external monitor.

Bluetooth Macbook Pro Retina Won't Respond or Turn Off
I have a wireless trackpad paired to my Macbook Pro Retina via bluetooth. This has been working fine for a fair few weeks up until the last few days when the trackpad stops working and starts searching for bluetooth, but my bluetooth says it's on. I try to turn off the bluetooth on the Macbook and it will not turn off. It just freezes and stays "on" but not working. In addition, every time I try to access the bluetooth settings, everything on the setting page works except for the "turn bluetooth off" button.
The only "fix" I have found so far is to restart my computer which is a huge hassle. Anyone else with this problem or know how to fix it?A couple of things to try,
SMC reset:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Follow directions for a battery you should not remove yourself
NVRAM/PRAM reset
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
You may have to reset some of your prefences after this, including the BT set up, as this "flushes" out the set up which may have become corrupted somehow.
If no joy post back, there are a few other things to check.
