MacBook Pro won't connect to the internet after standby

Hallo all,
I have the following strange problem with my macbook pro:
- after going in stand by and returning in operating mode the mac won't connect to the internet, I have to follow the procedure in order to retry to connect but It does'not work. Go in network preferences, try to change the DNS, use and not use DHCP and so on but nothing change.
- Mac is working in ethernet, I can see other macs and pcs
- When I change the network to connect, same problem even if I turn off the mac.
I have the same problem with Iphone !!!!
I have linksys router and modem but I think that the reason could be a setting in mac.
Anyone can help me???

I tried re-installing Mountain Lion 10.8.3 but it didn´t help.
Assuming your can access email ok ?
First, install the OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo)
Then restart your Mac. That will reinstall any missing system files.
Then try Safari.

My MacBook Pro won't connect to the Internet. My iPhone has no problem doing so, and neither does my PC. I think it's something to do with my DNS, but I'm not sure. My network connections say that both my Ethernet or FireWire are failed. What's wrong with my MacBook? Is there a simple way to fix this?

  • MacBook Pro Won't Connect to the Internet

Hi hi. Okay, I've noticed this unusual behavior in my MacBook Pro (Intel Core Duo, 2.4 GhZ, 15-inch, probabl 2 months old now) just last night. It connects to the wireless network but will not load any webpages. If I type in www.google.com or so, it says Contacting "www.google.com" and it stays on it and the page remains blank. I'm writing this from my MacBook which seems to connect fine to this wireless network. The problem persists in the MacBook Pro when I'm on XP (boot camp) and when I'm on Leopard. I've restarted the machine and everything but it still occurs. Prior to me discovering the problem, I think the MacBook Pro was asleep for 2 days (in XP).
I've opened Network Diagnostics in Leopard and it detects the wireless network and everything but then it says it needs a WEP password. But the MacBook can join this same network without a password. I access the university network (from a dorm) so while you don't have to have a password to connect to the internet, you only log in when you open an internet browser and then sign in with the student ID (but its not the WEP password, if that makes sense). Basically, I can't acess the internet if I don't log into the internet and of course even the university login page won't show up. Can anyone please help me? It's driving me nuts. Thanks!
P.S.- I've been hearing other MBP users having this problem but I don't know if I installed the Airport Update, and restarting doesn't help either.

Your OS is shown as 10.4.7, but most people who are having problems similar to yours have later versions of Tiger or Leopard. If you're running a later version than 10.4.7, please update your settings for this.
Some people, including me, have found that setting the router to "G-only" mode solves the problem (at least until Apple fixes the problem in a software release.) Please post a reply or email me as to whether this works for you.
    TIA

  • My one-month old MacBook Pro won't connect to the internet?

I called the service provider, it is neither our modem nor our internet. The PCs in the house work fine, but a couple housemates and myself own Macbooks, and although they find the network, they do not connect. I've heard it's just some problem that randomly occurs for Macbook users and has no actual solution other than luck. I was wondering if this is a false rumour, and how to go about fixing it? I've reset the modem, router, and computer multiple times to no avail.  If this is true, I will be the first one in line to sell my Macbook Pro back.

  • Macbook Pro won't connect to the Internet anymore.

I am posting on behalf of a friend.
She has a MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011 model. She can connect to Wifi and Ethernet cables fine, But when it comes to using the internet it won't work.
She tried Safari, Firefox and Chrome, and other software that uses internet connectivity doesn't work.
We used different internet connections, restarting the Laptop but it wouldn't work.
She upgraded to Mac OS X Yosemite, see it would fix the problem but again, nothing.
The Odd thing about it is that she has two account in the MacBook Pro, The Other account being her sisters, does get internet connectivity and browses the internet with no problem.
We made a new account and see if that would do the trick but still does the same thing. No internet connection.
Any suggestions how to fix this?

I tried re-installing Mountain Lion 10.8.3 but it didn´t help.

  • My macbook pro won't connect to the internet. Tried everything? Please help ...

Although both Airport and ethermet connection seem to be fine (green indication in network diagmostics) and all other computers in the house will connect to the net just fine, my macbook pro will not. I have reset the router several times, restarted the macbook, tried to remove airport, I have run all diagnositics, created new networks etc etc.
What happens is that during network diagmostics, airport and wifi settings appear green, while network turns yellow and stays yellow.
When i go into the advanced network settings menu under tcp/ip, there is an ipv4 address as well as a subnet mask address, but nothing after router:
All other macs in the house (e.g. my girlfriend's nearly identical kmacbook pro) show up the router as 192.168.1.1
My settings are in Norwegian, so I am translating what i read on the screen - please bear with me ...
Thank you for all your help!!!

That doesn't mean MAC filtering is useless; it's just that it offers very little protection. It's like securing a door with a cheap spring lock -- it will stop some people.

  • My Macbook Pro won´t connect to the Internet

I've been ytring to log on to the Internet for several hours via wireless with no luck. It connects to Wi-Fi with no problem, but it simply refuses to connect to Internet. In the diagnostic, on the left side there are several red/green lights for status. Wi-Fi, Adust Wi-Fi, and Internet Provider are all green. Network Adjust is in yellow, and Internet and Server both have red lights with an ´error´ notation below them.
When I try to go through the steps of the diagnostic, it asks me what sort of Configuration I'd like to use, and I select Wi-Fi. It then asks me if I am using a cable or ethernet, and I click no, at which point a box opens up saying my problem is impossible to fix, and Network Adjustment and Internet Provider lights both become red.
I came to this discussion board for help, and one posting said to remove AirPort and then put it back. I removed it, and I can't even find it now.
In Ecuador these laptops cost $1500, and I am very frustrated because this is a ton of money for me. I bought what I assumed to be the top of the line, but now I am very much regretting this decision. If anyone know

Let's try the simple approach first. Restart your router. Any change?

  • My Macbook Pro will not connect to the internet or bring up Safari!

For the past couple of weeks my Macbook Pro has been having issues connecting to the internet and when it is connected it won't bring up Safari "You are not connected to the internet"
I use the correct password for my wireless internet and it still won't connect. I deleted the airport in system preferences and then made a new one. It connected for a few minutes but then disconnected and just shows an explanation point over the airport sign at the top of my status bar.
    PLEASE HELP ME.
I run a business and not having access to the internet on my Macbook is very very stressful.
I brought the Macbook into the Apple store but of course it works perfectly when I bring it in there... HELP

I also just realized it's also saying under the Airport status in System Preferences that the "AirPort has the self-assigned IP address ###.###.##.### and will not be able to connect to the internet."

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
Copy (command-C) the selected text to the Clipboard. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered. You can do that by copy-and-paste as well. Omit the final line ending in “$”. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}'
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. It won't be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Brand new Macbook Pro won't connect to  wireless internet

Hi all, I'm relatively new to the whole mac thing, but I have a problem. I got a macbook pro for college last week, and have been struggling to connect to the internet ever since. I notice other's are having issues too.
    So here's what's going on:
When I set my pro to using DHCP, I get no IP address, or sometimes get the self assigned address 169.etc. Yet when I put in a static address, subnet mask and router info I've found for my network, It says connected but when i click on safari no internet. I've run diagnostic in safari and all the lights go green (under manual ip etc) except internet and server (which are yellow). What's going on here? It can't be the airport card, because my pro connects seamlessly to my college's wifi, my ethernet cable and rogers internet stick. So is it my modem/router combo (using a siemens SE567), or is it because I'm running 10.6.4?
Please help, I have to use the internet for uploading videos and other heavy internet usages that my internet stick can't do (unless I want a $100 bill each month), and being tethered to my ethernet is kind of a bother.
*I should also note I have a pc laptop that runs fine off the network (siemens se567), though setting it up also gave me issues.*
    Thanks

  • My macbook pro will not connect to the internet, help pleaaaase?

I have literally been to countless forums and nothing has worked. I restarted the router for the internet, but every other computer in my house is connecting to the internet just fine. I don't know what to do, and this is incredibly frustrating. Can anybody help me?

When you see an exclamation point in the Wi-Fi menu, from the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
