MacBook running 10.7.5  MacBook pro  10.4.11  Compatibility question?

I have a macbook running 7.5  Just bought a used macbook pro that has 10.4.11  I called apple and bought a 10.6 update disk - it is about a week out due to shipping - I just backed up the macbook running 10.7.5  with carbon copy cloner I connected the macbook pro to back it up and my currosity got the best of me and I set pref to boot to my older 10.6.8 backup.  It booted fine and seems to work just fine.  Am I going to mess anything up by running this system till I get my install disk?  I really want to do a clean install since I dont want all my old baggage on the macbook pro.  Will the system corrupt if I boot th the 10.7.5 backup?    It boots to them, but if I install the 10.6.8 or 10.7.5 on the Macbook pro that came from the Macbook back up  AM I ASKING FOR TROUBLE?  or will it work.
The macbook pro is 2.2 Ghz core 2  2 GB 667 Mhz memory
The Macbook  is 2.13 Ghz core 2  2Gb 800 Mhz mewmory

1. No, as long as the MacBook Pro has a Core 2 Duo CPU.
2. No.

  • One Macbook running Leopard and one running Tiger

I have one Macbook running Tiger and one Macbook running Leopard, can I upgrade both machines to Snow Leopard with the Family pack for $49.95?

As some people on other threads have been stating, there is nothing legally that says you can not use the SL Upgrade on a machine running Tiger. The word used is "suggest" that you use the box set. Again, as others have mentioned, if you did not go to the Apple website but just went to the store (ie Best Buy) the $29 SL Upgrade only requires an intel machine.

  • Macbooks Running Leopard - My thoughts

After watching the WWDC keynote, reviewing the material that was posted on the Apple.com, and reading concerns about the Macbooks ability in running Leopard...
It is quite obvious that the Macbook, even at its most basic configuration, will run Leopard effectively and efficiently, in fact, the Mac Mini is able to run tiger almost flawlessly and it's able to generate the various graphic effects in Tiger, therefore I doubt there will be any issues with Macbooks running Leopard.
The Macbook line is very new, only a year and ~ month old, I'm sure Apple will be able to support the Macbook line with its future OSes for many years to come. Look at the various iBooks of the past, they are still able to run Tiger and even Leopard after almost 5-6 years of use and they are only equipped with PPC processors.
    Speed?
Any new OS loves RAM, that is a fact, however, I'm sure Apple is sensible enough to accommodate those who have less RAM than others, such as those who have about 512 MB. A recommended amount for any modern OS is at least 1GB, but preferably more. However, based on past OS upgrades, Apple has been able to make OSes run faster on the SAME hardware, therefore I'm sure Leopard + Macbooks will run at least efficiently, if not flawlessly, (hopefully the latter).
    Installing the OS
Apple has in the past been able to allow users to either install the OS as an update and allow the users to keep all data, archive-install, or do a clean sweep where users can basically wipe the HD and start with a clean slate. This is up to you, however the time it takes to upgrade should not take too long, I was able to do a system OS upgrade in the past as fast as an hour or so.
    Closing Thoughts
Don't fret! The Macbooks will be able to run Leopard fine! However, if you want to speed up the experience, maybe clean out the HD, run disk utilities, and up the RAM a bit. But ultimately, the Macbook, even in its most basic of configurations is equipped to run the next-gen Mac OS and many revisions after that.

yeah, even the intel core duos can run leopard. Just not the 64 bit versions of apps, which, there arnt many AT ALL.
By the time 64 bit apps really start hitting the market, you'll probably already have a new computer.

You may want to use the Migration Assistant, which appears the first time you start up the new machine during setup, and also is available later (it is found in /Applications/Utilities.) Note that if you are running 10.4.x on the old MacBook both machines need to use FireWire to do this, but the late 2006 MacBook has that. You will need a special 4 pin to 6 pin FireWire adapter cable, as the FireWire ports on the newest MacBook Pros are different.

There's a lot of Sage out thete so fill us in with information. If it runs on Windows then you'll need to create a partition on your mbp using boot camp and install Windows. So what is Sage for you?

Don't worry I've sorted it! I just had to turn off Reminders as well in iCloud. Calendar then worked fine, even when I turned Calendar and Reminders back on.

  • ARD issues - MacBook Pro to partitioned MacBook (running Windows)

I really have read all I can before making this posting - so apologies if this issue has been addressed before.
Goal - to allow MacBook Pro (OS X 10.4.9) to observe and control Windows running on a partitioned MacBook.
Issue - I can observe and control the MacBook when it is in Mac mode, but when the MacBook is in Windows mode, just can't get the connection. I have installed VNC onto Windows, I have opened both ports 5900 and 3283.
When I view the MacBook in Windows mode I can see the computer and it's status is "VNC ON" - but still no connection. I have even removed the firewall completely - but still no luck.
    Any suggestions are welcomed.

Have you tried a different VNC client? Some work and some don't, it seems, particularly when dealing with Intel-based Macs. I believe most people who have success are using RealVNC, but if you search for "VNC" in this forum, you should find reports of what works and what doesn't.

  • Hi, i'm Architec and my basic programs are: Autodesk Architecture and 3D studio Max. Can i run it in the MacBook Pro 13.3-Inch  (NEWEST VERSION) Thanks!!!

Hi, i'm Architec and my basic programs are: Autodesk Architecture and 3D studio Max. Can i run it in the MacBook Pro 13.3-Inch  (NEWEST VERSION) Thanks!!!

You can but make sure you upgrade your RAM to 16GB - you can't do that through Apple...
Autodesk is a memory intensive program and the same goes with 3D Studio Max.....
Another suggeston if you must use a 13 inch is to buy the base 13 inch Macbook Pro and upgrade the RAM to 16GB and install a SSD to make it perform fast.
Another option is to get a refurbished 15 Inch Macbook Pro and do the RAM upgrade yourself...Advantage going 15 Inch is because it has it's own discrete graphics adapter rather than the built in Intel video.

  • I have installed Creative Cloud Desktop but it fails to load. The icon shows up in the bar at the top right but then it just disappears. I am running Yosemite on a MacBook Pro.

I downloaded and installed Creative Cloud Installer and installed the Creative Cloud desktop on my MacBook Pro running Yosemite. The Creative Cloud desktop tries to install when the system starts and the icon actually shows in the top bar briefly and then disappears shortly after it shows up so it is obviously failing to load. I have tried multiple times to no avail.

do you mean in my system library? or where can I find it?

  • Can i run snow leopard on macbook pro puchased new in 2009?

Can I run snow leopard on macbook pro purchased new in 2009?

The Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD should still be available at this time from Apple for $20. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775 to purchase it. It may still be in the Legacy Products list. The App Store which is required to download 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion is part of the 10.6.6 update.
If you wait to long and they no longer have any in stock you will have to buy it from eBay or Apple resellers that still have stock. But you will have to pay a premium since the DVDs are no longer being made. Snow Leopard DVDs are already over $100 on Amazon.

  • Will Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 Run Successfully on a MacBook Pro running Version 10.9.3 Operating Software ?

Will Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 Run Successfully on a MacBook Pro running Version 10.9.3 Operating Software ?

Sorry it took me a while to come back. Anyway, I cleared out the old Xcode files and went into the Developers Download area and selected to download 4.6.3 and was presented with this window
I clicked on Savefile and it downloaded. I was intrigued as to why this would work as it was exactly what I had done before. Out of interest I decided to issue the download again and this time it created a zero byte disk image and a "part" file of 1.6mB. I shall just have to put that behind me (accepting that I don't understand why one download should work and all the precious attempts should fail) and move on.
Thank you for your help (it was my eyesight that caused me to think my OS version was 10.7.9 - it is indeed 10.7.5)

  • Running CS5 on a Macbook Pro. Will not read raw files for a new Canon T5i camera. Can update the current RAW?

Running CS5 on a Madbook Pro. Will not open RAW image files from a new Canon TRi camera. Can I update to latest RAW processor with current CS5, or must I update to CS6 on the MacBook?
    Jack

ACR 7.4 is the one that will read T5i raw files and it is CS6 specific. You can upgrade for $200 Standard or $400 Extended in you need 3D support.
You can also see if converting your T5i files to .dng format will do just as well.
