Macbookpro 2.4 Intel Core I7 15 inch Mac OS X 10.07.04 Lion

The internet (wi-fi) is always dropping out, time-out or very slow. Safari doesn't react any more. Very annoying. My wife is using a six year old i-mac with snow leopard and it has no problems. My daughter has an i-pad 3, no problems.
I paid this macbookpro 2299 euro! and I always have problems!!!!!!
I'm using my laptop to write music. I installed Pro Tools 9, Native Instruments 7, Mainstage 2 and Finale 2012. Installing updates etc... are very painfull!!!!!!! I hope Apple will get this thing solved soon!

  • The fn key and movement keys on a MacBookPro 2 GHz Intel Core Duo

This is my first notebook computer so it may be obvious, but I cannot figure out how to use the fn key in combination with movement keys. While the fn home (right arrow) and end keys work, if you add any other command keys, like ctrl, shift, option, cmd the fn key seems not to function. For example shift-home (fn-left arrow-shift) which should extend the selection to the beginning of the line just functions as shift-left arrow. When I attach an external keyboard everything works as it should.
Actually, having played with things a bit just now, things seem to work oddly. If I hit shift (and hold it) then fn (and hold) and then left arrow, things work as they should, but if I hit fn (and hold) then shift (and hold) and then left arrow, it reacts as though I hit shift and left arrow only.
Is this normal (if it is it is strange to me)?
MacBookPro 2 GHz Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

my guess is a bug in the keyboard driver, maybe if
you report it to apple they will fix it, it looks
just like something that was overlooked during testing
That sounds like a good idea, but how does one report bugs to apple? There is nothing on the site that makes it obvious.

Your iMac should be almost silent.

I have a 2006 MacBookPro 1,2 IntelCorDuo 2.16GHz. All software is up to date, is it safe for me to switch to Lion OSX?

    Can't be done.
You need an Intel Core 2 Duo for Lion, not an Intel Core Duo.

Welcome to the Support Commuities. See under Supported Models here:
OS X Mountain Lion Technical Specifications
...Although your MacBook Pro is supported, it may be advisable to wait until OS X 10.8.1 or 10.8.2 in order to avoid the possibility that your Mac slows down due to bugs in 10.8.0.

  • Upgrade path for iMac 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo from OSX 10.5.8 to mountain lion

    Hi,
I have an Apple iMac 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 Gbytes of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
It is currently running MAC OSX 10.5.8 --
I would like to know the proper upgrade path to the most current version of OSX which is
    compatible with this hardware.
    Thanks!

The starting point is to call Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE and ask to purchase a copy of Mac OS 10.6 "Snow Leopard." It will cost about US$20 plus shipping. When you receive it, install it and use Software update to get to OS10.6.8; the updates are free to that point.
Now you will have the App Store app in your Dock. You can use that to purchase Mac OS 10.8 "Mountain Lion," the lastest. According to the MacTracker database, your iMac--which is either a Mid-2007 or Early 2008--can support 10.8.
    CAVEATS:
    • your iMac is at or near the minimum level to suport 10.8; performance may not be stellar
    • if you currently run any old PowerPC apps (like Office 2004), they will still work unders 10.6 but no higher. You will have to upgrade to newer versions to continue using them. Office 2008 runs on either PPC or the newer Intel Macs. Office 2011 runs only on Intel Macs.

  • Using iMac6,1 Intel Core 2 Duo with Mac mini for Mavericks?

    Hello,
I am using iMac6,1 (white) Intel Core 2 Duo which works perfectlly fine and I hope to keep using this machine as long as I can.
I've learned, however, that OS Mavericks does not run on my iMac6,1 and Apple will no longer support it.
I am very attached to this machine and am not ready to face a new iMac display with a bold black frame...I just don't find it very attractive.
So I came up with an idea to buy a Mac mini and use my white iMac as a display.
    Does this idea work?
I know nothing about computer so please laugh if I am being silly.
    Now here's the specs of my beautiful white iMac if it helps;
    Model Name:
    iMac
      Model Identifier:
    iMac6,1
      Processor Name:
    Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:
    2.33 GHz
      Number Of Processors:
    1
      Total Number Of Cores:
    2
      L2 Cache:
    4 MB
      Memory:
    2 GB
      Bus Speed:
    667 MHz
      Boot ROM Version:
    IM61.0093.B07
      SMC Version (system):
    1.10f
I recall having added memory and replaced a graphic board at a local Apple Store five years ago but I am not sure if it's shown here.
Thank you everyone always for this awesome communities.

  • Can I run Intel Core i7-3770K on Mac Pro 2010?

I want to buy Mac Pro but I don`t like ATI graphics and I don`t need server. I want it like "gaming" machine
So I will change ATI Radeon HD 5770 by NVidia GeForce GTX 670... will it work? I will install parallel desktop in Mac Pro.
And I want to put in Mac Pro Intel Core i7-3770K, will it work???
Thanks a lot for all answers.
    (Sorry for bad english)

Build a PC. You are limited by the processor socket so nothing but LGA 1366, Nehalem-Westmere. No LGA 2011, no Sandy Bridge let alone Ivy Bridge-E
Yes a GTX with 2x6-pin power cables.
You are not a Mac Pro intended customer and gaming can be done better on Windows PC.

  • My iMac has an Intel Core Duo processor, what can be done to upgrade to Lion?

my IMac has an Intel Core Duo processor.  What can be done it to allow me to upgrade to Lion?

Got 2GB of RAM and 7GB of disk space as well?
Got current BACKUPs in case something goes horribly wrong?
If so, upgrade/update to 10.6.6 or later and The App Store icon appears. For US$29.99, you can download Lion.
If you fear you will need a DVD of it, you must make one after downloading and BEFORE you install, as the image is consumed during the Install, and not available afterward.

  • MacBookPro 2.8Ghz intel Core i7 running so hot on left side it burns my wrist when I type.

Hi: I have a 17" macbook pro. Left side where mag safe is has always seemed too hot to me, but I've been told that's normal. After running for upwards to 5 hours, the heat on the left side near the touch pad becomes so hot that I can not rest my wrist on the machine. I've got the screen in proper position (45 degree angle), the back of machine is not blocked. It's on a hard surface (desk or lap desk--because it is too hot to just have on my lap. The mag safe is functioning (power box) often is very hot as well and it is just on floor, not covered by anything. I don't understand what causes this problem and how to fix it.

  • MacBookPro 2.3GHz Intel Core i7 will not start-at all

My MacBook will periodically just not start. It is more likely to do this if it has been off for while (as in a week) or after the battery has run low. I have to keep pressing the start button. I will sometimes press and hold and nothing will happen, or I might try a "quick" press down. Eventually the unit will power up.
Yes the powercord is attached and has the "green" connected/charge light on.
This is very disconcerting because sometimes it wont come on at all for a long while (as in over an hour of trying). Once it starts up it loads up all programs fine.
I would really apprecaite any recommendations before escalating to product support. (It is currently on and running)

The symptoms that you describe suggest a bad switch.  The best option is a trip to the Apple store genius bar for a free definitive diagnosis.
    Ciao.

  • Is my MacbookPro 64 bit capable? It has an Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of Memory and runs the OSx Lion 10.7.5 system, Want to confirm before I install SW that requires 64 bit. Thanks.

Is my MacBook Pro 64 bit capable?

Yes it is a 64bit CPU and the OS is 64bit.
The worst thing that could happen is the software won't either install or it won't run.

  • I have an 2.7 GHz intel core i5 4GB RAM Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 ad is too slow what can I do?

If I have just 2 applications opened like safari and itunes and starts being slow, When I work with photoshop it`s so frustrating, I bought this computer 'cause they recommend for design and I'm starting to prefer PC again! what can I do???

Please carefully read Activity Monitor to read System Memory and determine how much RAM is being used and report back with what you find, you may only need to upgrade the RAM.
However have you done any troubleshooting such as restarting in Safe Mode to clear some caches or a SMC reset or even just restarting the computer?
