Machine Section in Tuxedo10

Hello.
I have been configuring a new enviroment for trials with Tuxedo10.0 and found a problem: when compiling an ubb we get MACHINE SECTION empty (when we try a tmunloadcf after de compilation).
May be some of you have the same problem, is there any solution?
Thank you
Francisco Rebollo

Hi Francisco,
It's a tuxedo problem. We are fixing this issue. This issue only happens
when SHM mode is used. For MP mode, tmunloadcf works fine.
Thank you,
Dong

  • Dynamically changing MAXWSCLIENTS in the MACHINES Section

    Hi,
is it possible to change the MAXWSCLIENTS parameter which is in

I thought this would be possible with tmconfig but I'm not quite

    Hi,
You can use if condition to switch between logos
    Eg:
    <?if:VENDOR_NAME="SAM"?>INSERTED IMAGE<?end if?><?if:VENDOR_NAME="JAM"?>INSERTED IMAGE2<?end if?>....and so on
please try this and get back if you have any problems..

  • Time Machine question.

Hello. Im not sure exactly where to post this, i couldnt find a Time Machine section. Ill make this as short as possible.
I have a 2011 mac mini with snow leopard 10.6.8 and my wife just bought quick books accounting software which requires 10.8 mountain lion, so i just bought it, although i havent installed it yet and here is why. I started another thread the other day about weather or not i HAD to update to Yosemite, all the reviews are making me nervous so im opting for Mountain Lion. So, in my thread a member asked me how i back up my mac mini, well i dont and never have. But i recently got a 1TB external hard drive which im going to return for a 2TB. This member was talking to me about mountain lion and suggested that i install it on my external hard drive so that i could keep my nicely working Snow Leopard as well as having Mountain Lion for my wifes quick book program. As we spoke, the member said he wasnt sure id be able to back up my mac mini with Time Machine onto the 1TB as well as install Mountain Lion onto it and i also plan on putting a few thousand pictures on it. Can someone tell me if this is possible? I know ZERO about time machine and backing up for that matter. Ive never done it. So another question, if i was to back up using Time Machine and a 2TB external hard drive, would that also back up all my photos in iphoto, my photoshop program and Toast editing? Would all of that be backed up? Am i making any sense? LOL.
    Thanks.

So, are you saying that I should have a totally different external hard drive to use for time machine back ups?
Would it be safe to store all my pictures and the installation Mountain lion back up on one external hard drive or am I going to have to get a separate one for each?
Also, what if I just did the standard update to mountain lion and didn't save it to an external hard drive? Could I then use one external hard drive for my pictures and the time machine back ups?
Yes. Use a different drive for your Time Machine back ups.
You could use a 2TB external USB drive, partition it into 2-1TB partitions, install OS X Mountain Lion on one and point your Time Machine back ups to the 2nd 1TB partition. I think you should be able to use this 1TB partition for both your Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion Time Machine back ups. Just point each to that 1TB partition. All of your data (photos, music, documents, Quickbooks data, etc.) would be backed up by Time Machine as it backs up the entire drive (OS/Apps/Data). So, if you use that 1TB partition for both back ups, both drives (SL on your Mac Mini and ML on the external 1TB partition) will be backed up.

  • Mountain Lion vs. Time Machine

I set up two external hard drives for use with Time Machine. Last night it did the first backup to one HD, now it's doing the first backup to the other one. Once this is done, and it starts doing "regular" backups, will it start counting down the time to the next backup like Lion used to do?
The reason I ask this is that Mountain Lion's TM just lists "Only backup" (and the time) for the hard drive that it's already done. It doesn't say when the next backup will occur. Will it start doing this when it finishes the initial backup to the other drive?

It only showed a countdown when you changed the disk.
And no, you won't see that anymore.
Also see the Time Machine section in Changes in Mountain Lion for other interesting news.

  • Time Machine Backup cancels for no "apparent" reason

    Hello,
I am using Time machine with Snow Leopard and an external WD My Book 1TB HD - I am using the very latest WD firmware/software (made for Snow Leopard) and was making successful automatic backups for several days until recently when the backup started canceling for no apparent reason. I installed the Time Machine buddy widget and found this message:
    Starting standard backup
Backing up to: /Volumes/GPL III BACKUP/Backups.backupdb
No pre-backup thinning needed: 1.80 GB requested (including padding), 894.51 GB available
Error: Flushing index to disk returned an error: 0
Copied 7393 files (997.6 MB) from volume GPL III HD.
    Backup canceled.
I tried a manual backup and the same message. I waited until the next automatic backups and got the same message - each and every time.
I have searched the Time Machine section and nothing specifically addresses the error message.
Any ideas on what is wrong and how to resolve it? I thought about erasing the HD and starting over but that seems draconian.
    Thanks!

I checked the set-up and it looks fine except the Tips note that a GUID partition is preferred for some purposes (whatever that means) on Intel Macs (such as mine) rather than the Apple Partition Map which is what the WD HD has - although it does note that either will work. Could this be the problem?
No, I guess I need to try to reword that somehow. Was trying to keep it short. It only matters, under some circumstances, on a drive with OSX installed on it.

These are all mds having problems in the Spotlight index on your TM drive.
Could my anti-virus SW be an issue (I am using VirusBarrier X6)?
Quite possibly. Exclude your TM disk from it, or turn it off.
Also exclude your TM disk from Spotlight indexing, at least temporarily, via SYstem Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy.
That will likely fix the backup problem.
You really don't need much, if any, anti-virus on a Mac; and many anti-virus products are actually worse than a virus! For more detail, see this post by Klaus1: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10942146&#10942146 or: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2307964

  • Mountain Lion-Time Machine Questions

    Hi all,
Recently I bought a new Macbook Pro and upgraded to Mountain Lion. This laptop comes with one internal hard drive ~ 750GB. I have two questions regarding Time Machine:
    1. Can I partition my disk into two partitions so I can use one partition for Time Machine backups?
    2. Can the partition for Time Machine backups have less space than the other one?
I know the disavantages to do so, but I just want to know if it is possible. Does Time Machine allow it?

  • Configure an UBB Tuxedo 8.1 in cluster

My friends, i have 2 machine with 1 tuxedo domain each, i need to configure the UBB in cluster. Could you give me an exemple, please or how can i do it?
I have Tuxedo 8.1 in Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3 (Taroon Update 7).
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
It's quite easy to do. You simply add multiple MACHINE sections to the UBBCONFIG file and as well add a NETWORK section. Here is a relatively simple 2 machine configuration, although it's really 2 "machines" on a single host.

  • Message Queue Blocking / MSGMNI Setting

    Hi All,
Firstly, many thanks to all that can assists. I am currently getting Message Queue
Blocking messages in my ULOG files in my Tuxedo Application. (Tux ver 7.1 in Unix).
I am not sure what is causing this, but started to look into the Tux Config (UBB.MP)
and System message queue setting. Detailed as follows:
    1)
Listed below is the system message queue setting:
    set msgsys:msginfo_msgmni=2000
    set msgsys:msginfo_msgmax=128000
    set msgsys:msginfo_msgmnb=100000
    set msgsys:msginfo_msgssz=256
    set msgsys:msginfo_msgseg=25088
    set msgsys:msginfo_msgtql=1550
    set msgsys:msginfo_msgmap=1000
According to the BEA site, the MSGMNI is determined by this formula:
MSGMNI = MAXACCESSERS + 7 + (no. of servers with REPLYQ) + (no. MSSQ sets) - (no.
    of servers with MSSQ sets)
The following is my current Tux. Config (UBB.MP) is set as :
    - MAXACCESSERS = 2300
    - Each servers (4 types in total) has its own REPLYQ and RQADDR.
    - The same type of servers are set the same across 4 application servers.
    Hence, my MSGMNI should be a minimum 2339 (ie. MSGMNI = 2300 + 16 + 16 - 0 = 2339).
But my current MSGMNI is 2000.
Would this contribute to my Message Queue Blocking?
Is my understanding correct and is this something I should change to avoid Message
Queue Blocking? Any helps and advice is much appreciated.

    Malcolm,
Your information and explanations behind these error messages are very useful.
It allow me to further understand Tuxedo internal processing and at the same time
give me a chance to start analysing these fields.
I am reluctant to ask further questions at the mean time. I will use your suggestions
    as a starting point.
I will certainly keep you posted of the outcome when I have made the changes in
my UBB config and machine parameters.
Many thanks with your help/explanations Malcolm. It helps alot!
    Cheers.
    David.

    Hi David,
The MSGTQL reference you give (Solution S-00488) refers to the BEA MessageQ
    product
and is not relevant to Tuxedo.
The error messages indicate that the queue buildup is probably due to
    a restartable
server failing. What happens is this:
When a restartable server fails its IPC queue remains in place and continues
    to
receive messages (which will be processed when the server restarts).
    Depending
on the time taken to restart, the queue could become full and unable
    to receive
any more messages, and this is probably why you got the message CMDTUX_CAT:1380
indicating that the BRIDGE process was unable to put a message on the
    server's
    queue.
A server is only restarted when the BBL does a SANITYSCAN check. If,
    for example,
your SANITYSCAN interval is 300 seconds and your server fails immediately
    after
the previous scan, then there will be a delay of almost 5 minutes before
    the failure
is detected and the server restarted - plenty of time for the queue to
    fill up.
There are a few things you could do:
The key thing would be to find out why the server is failing, and fix
    the problem.
If this is not possible immediately, consider some of the other ideas
    below.
Have several servers form an MSSQ to service this queue; then if one
    fails the
others will continue processing the messages while the failed server
    restarts
(this assumes, of course, that your application does not require the
    messages
to be processed in strict order through the server).
Reduce the SANITYSCAN interval (but don't make it too small). This would
    reduce
the average time taken to restart the server.
Increase the size of the IPC queue (MSGMNB) so that it can hold more
    messages.
I'm not sure why you got a LIBTUX_CAT:1485 message, but this could be
    due to a
BRIDGE failure as a result of the congestion.
The NETLOAD parameter would reduce the number of messages going to the
    remote
machine, but only if the local machine offers the same service. If the
    remote
machine is the only source of the service then NETLOAD will have no effect.
    I
recommend you do a search of this newsgroup for postings on "load balancing"
there's some good stuff which will explain how load balancing works.
Depending how things go, it might not be a bad idea to open a case with
    BEA Support
and ask for guidance (remember to submit your ubbconfig (or preferably
    do a tmunloadcf)
together with the complete ULOGs from both the master and the slave machine).
    Hope this helps some.
    Regards,
    Malcolm.

    Hi Malcolm,
Thank you for your reply. Interesting point you have made about theMSGTQL
    value.
Based on your suggestion I went hunting around the BEA site and found
    the following
    snipplet:
"- The MSGTQL parameter must be set to a value greater than or
    equal to the MSGMNI setting."
    (http://support.bea.com/application?namespace=askbea&origin=ask_bea_answer.jsp&event=link.view_answer_page_solution&answerpage=solution&page=msq/S-00488.htm)
If the above point is valid, then my MSGTQL is definitely way too low.
    IF this
be the case, would you know of a method to work out what my MSGTQL bytes
    value
    should be?
Additionally, I have looked at other parameters which I could tune, and
    would
adding a NETLOAD parameter in the *MACHINES section will reduce remote
    servers
call? Which potentially, maybe reduce message queue blocking?
    FYI:
The error messages I am seeing in my ULOG file are:
    "LIBTUX_CAT: 1477 : ERROR .SysServerDied
    LIBTUX_CAT: 1476 : ERROR: .SysServerRestarting"
Which then leads to message queue blocking
"CMDTUX_CAT: 1380 : ERROR: Message queue blocking prevented delivery,
    Qaddr=..."
    and potentially "LIBTUX_CAT: 1485 .SysNetworkDropped."
Many Thanks. Hope to hear from you (Malcolm) or other parties out there
    that can
    assists.
    Thanks.

5 (x64). I suppose that is reason for Warning on Summary screen in Wizard :
    Warning (s):
    1. The operating system of the VMWare VM is NOT SUPPORTED. This does not prevent conversion, but no support is provided for this conversion.
The tool is running on target Hyper-V 2012R2 host with .NET 4,5 installed along with Visual C++ Redist 2012 update.
After continuing conversion (ignorring the warning above), conversion stops after sucessfuly snapshot creation on ESXi host with following error :
"One or more errors occurred. ---> System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Accelerators.Mvmc.ScxSshWrapper_x86.dll' or one of its dependencies. The specified module could not be found."
I also reboot Hyper-V host but same error appears every time .
    Thnx.
Update#1: I have to install both x64 and x86 Visual Studio Redist 2012 Update 4 to avoid stop error on .dll. The main warning (VM not supported stays).
Now I have new problem, during Uninstall Tools step conversion stops with message: Host does not Exist. When open error log: there is :
VERBOSE:    Attempting to establish an SSH connection.
07/23/2014 17:06:56 +02:00  [3]  VERBOSE:    Finished creating snapshot of the source virtual machine
07/23/2014 17:06:59 +02:00  [3]  DEBUG:    Caught ManagedSshFacadeException trying to open SSH connection: ErrorCode=0xC0040202, Message=Host does not exist
    07/23/2014 17:07:04 +02:00  [3]  VERBOSE:    System.AggregateException: One or more errors occurred. ---> Microsoft.Accelerators.Mvmc.ScxSshCommon.ManagedSshFacadeException: Host does not exist
Update#2: Host unknown error was because Debian wasn't in internal DNS of Hyper-V host, after adding Linux to DNS error went away (it seems to use DNS name to establish SSH connection). However after that I received errors in same "Uninstall Tools"
step about connection rejected because of too many failures for root account... I saw that in the "Connection Step" of wizard I was unable to enter Password for Root account for selected VM, (I don't know is that by design for Linux VM's). So I beleive
that error is reffering to that stage of setup. Anyhow  I decided to manually remove VM Tools , shutdown VM and convert VM in offline mode. Now VM is working on Hyper-V, and I hope that this few hours of troubleshooting will help someone. After all there
    are still some questions :
    1. Why Warning : 1. The operating system of the VMWare VM is NOT SUPPORTED - is displayed for Debian 7 which is on supported list of guest OS
    2. Why online conversion didn't work, and why password for root account in VM (under Connection portion of wizard) could not be entered.
If anyone have answers to above question please share your knowledge.
    Regards,

MVMC 3.0 did not include any new features for Linux so I doubt the results will be different. We did add support for RHEL 7, CentOS 7 and Oracle 7.
    For your questions:
1 - Since VMWare does not have a specific choice for Deb 7, newer versions may by now, we throw the warning as we cannot determine what version of Linux you are trying to convert when you select [Other Linux X64]. Deb 7 is supported by MVMC as
we've tested it and know it works. Other Linux distros may work as well that are not supported but they have not been tested.
2 - Most likely you did not have the VMWare VM running when trying to do the online conversion or it could not be resolved in DNS by the vSphere server. When running the MVMC tool did you notice if it had a DNS name associated with it when you selected
    it in VMWare?
The MVMC requires the VMWare VM to be in a running state and resolvable in DNS by both the MVMC system and the VMWare vSphere server to verify the root password and remove the VMWare tools. As you have stated, you can remove the VMWare tools manually
and run the MVMC and it will work as well. If you leave the VMWare tools installed and do the conversion we disable the VMWare tools on the Hyper-V VM once booted. They are still there but should not be in a running state and you can remove them if desired
    at this point.

  • Time capsule drops connection

Mac book has problem with dropping connection to newest Time Calsule.

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
For help with your Time Machine problem, check the FAQ and Troubleshooting items at the top of the Time Machine section for OS X 10.6:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1342
the Time Capsule started blinking yellow and airport utility came up saying there was a problem finding a wireless signal (i think).
Please describe your local network configuration, including brand(s) and model number(s) of all equipment, as well as how everything is connected. It sounds like your Time Capsule is configured to connect wirelessly to a network created by your cable company's router.

  • Help.  not even sure what to call what i need.

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
We are wanting to add an interactive app (may not be the right word) to our website where our customers can customize a package.  (for example, view the blue shirt with red pants and green shoes, or decide they want to see the red shirt instead)
A click and drag would be nice, where they could click the items they want to build their package.
What software would be used to create something like this?  Flash?
and would it truly be considered an interactive app?  is there a name for something like this?

I recently had to have the powerbook repaired and they changed out some of the internals. When I got it home it no longer would back up to the time capsule.
Check this post for help: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2057525 , particularly items B5, C8, and D3.
Please use the "My Settings" link on the right to declare your OS X version. It may not matter in this case, but a lot of advice can depend on the OS X version.
By the way, since your problem is really with Time Machine and not with a Time Capsule, a better place to post your message would have been in the Time Machine section for your OS X version.

  • Is there a TLOG? What's wrong?

    Hi,
How can I find out if my application has a TLOG device configured.
In the dmconfig I see that the parameter DMTLOGDEV is set.
Often I see this following error in the ULOG -
LIBGWT_CAT:1042: ERROR: Can't open domain log
What could be going on? Will I get this error if no TLOG is configured?
    thanks
    -Atul

check for TLOGDEVICE in tuxconfig file and DMTLOGDEV in dmconfig file
if they are there then you must have a TLOG and you shoild create a TLOG.

    thanks for the response.
When I do tmunloadcf I do see in the machines section
    TLOGNAME="TLOG"
    TLOGSIZE=100
Should I go in and issue the command ?
    crdl -d domain_id
    thanks

The parameter you should check is DMTLOGDEV and not DMTLOGNAME.DMTLOGNAME
    will
be set by tuxedo by default even if you do not specify it in dmconfig
    file but
if you have defined DMTLOGDEV then you have to have a device created
    otherwise
    it will report error.
similarly in tuxconfig file the corresponding parameter is TLOGDEVICE
    and not
    TLOGNAME.

You need to findout if you are using transactions across domains.
if you are using then you need domains TLOG otherwise just
unsetting the DMTLOGNAME from dmconfig file should solve the problem.
to check that your application is using the TLOGs or not you can
do a tmunloadcf|grep TLOGNAME .if you get something that means youare
    using
    it.
    Thanks

  • Using multiple values of APPDIR

    Hello Team,
I have a new requirement whose explanation is below:
Prepare a UBBCONFIG/TUXCONFIG file in such a way that for each server Tuxedo first pick up the EXE from location */appdev1/bin* . If EXE is not found at first location then it should look into other location i.e */appdev2/bin*. If EXE not found in second location also then look for third location and so on.
Basically it seems to use different values for APPDIR without hardcoding absolute path in SERVERS section.
Please suggest me your valuable thought to implement this ?
    Regards,
    Rakesh

    Hi Rakesh,
From the Tuxedo documentation on the *SERVERS section of the UBBCONFIG:
    >
where AOUT specifies the file (string_value) to be executed by tmboot(1). tmboot executes AOUT on the machine specified for the server group to which the server belongs. tmboot searches for the AOUT file on its target machine. Thus, AOUT must exist in a filesystem on that machine. (Of course, the path to AOUT can include RFS connections to filesystems on other machines.) If a relative pathname for a server is given, the search for AOUT is done first in APPDIR, then in TUXDIR/bin, then in /bin, and then in path, where path is the value of the last PATH= line appearing in the machine environment file, if one exists. The values for APPDIR and TUXDIR are taken from the appropriate machine entry in the TUXCONFIG file. See ENVFILE in the MACHINES section for a more detailed discussion.
    >
So you should be able to set the PATH environment variable in the machine's environment file and get the desired behavior.
