MacMini 10.5.8 Mail 3.6

MacMini 10.5.8 Mail 3.6: For no good reason I can see, New Messages will not accept attachments during Composition, either by drag and drop or by browsing folder and choosing files.  Has anyone any thoughts on this issue, please?  ploughboy

If you can connect the two via FireWire cable, then you can boot the old computer into Target Disk Mode. From the new computer open Mail and choose Import from the File menu. Select the option import from Apple Mail. Locate the /Home/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/ folder and select it in the File Open dialog. You can then check the mailboxes you want to import.
Note the above works fine only for mailboxes stored on the local computer. If you have an IMAP mail account, then there's not need for the above because all your mail is stored on the server. The above works just fine for POP accounts.
As an alternative to the above you can simply copy the entire /Home/Library/Mail/ folder from the old machine to the new one. When you first open Mail it will automatically register the account.

  • New MacMini with SLS as Mail Service

    Hi to all,
my company needs to replace the older Mail Server (a DP powerPC / macosx server10.4),
we're targeting on MacPro 2.66 quadcore but i take a look at MiniMac shipped with SLserver and a double HardDisk and i think it's very interesting.
Considering that our Mail Service now supports 40-50 email accounts (maybe 60 in near future) , some of them with a huge daily traffic, does anyone of you tried macmini in this network situation?
    What's your opinion about?
    thank you

I have an original CoreDuo Mac Mini. I had been successfully using it with a 32" Sony Bravia LCD TV for more than two years using the DVI-VGA adapter and a standard VGA cable. After updating to OS 10.5.3 or later, I suddenly lost support for the VGA connection. When I reverted back to 10.5.2 things worked fine with the VGA port. I recently needed to update to 10.5.4 and the same thing happened. So, I purchased the Belkin DVI-HDMI cable and now works again, but I had to buy an HDMI switcher because my TV only has one HDMI connection. I guess the video drivers in 10.5.3 and 10.5.4 for the Mac Mini seemed to be the culprit in whacking out the VGA output.

  • Multiple domains and multiple IPs in the same MacMini Server

I am sure that this topic has been faced already but I cannot find enough information to really dig into a solution.
I have a macmini server with two IPs let say x.x.x.12 and x.x.x.13 .
The server is set up on the first IP. It has his primary zone, machine record, mail aslias and www alias.
Lets call the server domain server.domain1.com
Everything works fine I have a couple of local users and a couple of LDAP users. Just to test the machine setup.
I can send and receive emails using any of the users as [email protected]
Now I would like to have another domain, domain2.com in the same server .
The final goal is to have users under different domains. They have their own email box, calendar, etc.
It will be preferable that I can share the same username with different domains. But I can live without that option.
My first test was to have the second domain called server.domain2.com using the second IP. x.x.x.13 .
For that I created another Primary Zone with domain2.com as machine record of x.x.x.13 . To use the second IP I simply create another Ethernet interface on the macmini.
In the Mail -> Advance settings I added the host aliases as well as virtual hosting domains for domains2.com.
With this setting I can send emails as [email protected] or [email protected] but when I replay to their messages I get a "Relay access denied" error from server.domain1.com .
I also tryed another domain pointing to x.x.x.12, the same as server.domain1.com . I did not create any extra Primary Zone but the local host aliases and the virtual hosting domains.
Same issue. I can send but I get a "Relay access " error.
As you might notice I am a novice on servers settings. I just try to recreate a similar environment common to Virtual Hosting providers for my own website playground but I cannot cut through this email configuration obstacle.
Any significant meaning that can be leading me to learn how to do it will be very very appreciated . (beside lynda, com tutorials that I followed already but do not mention multiple domains for mails).
    Thanks

the problem I try to solve is to manage multiple domains in one MacMini Server.
    Having two IPs is secondary.
I would like that each domains has his own users with emails, iCals, Wiki and web sites.
The main problem is having emails to work for any additional domain beside the default one on the machine IP.
I also got an additional IP address to be used on the same server hoping that it make things easier but apparently is making things more difficult.

  • How do I move mail from MacMini running Leopard to MacBook Air on Lion?

I've just started using Lion on a MacBook Air and I'm having a problem transferring Mail from my MacMini running Leopard to the MacBook running Lion.
I used to just move the "Mail" and "Mail Downloads" folders from the Library of one computer to the other. I do this pretty regularly. I understand these folders are hidden in Lion, and I can't figure out how to find them or unhide them.
Any suggestions on how to do this--or another way to copy all my mail from the older computer to the new one (so that it serves as a back-up) will be appreciated. Thanks!

  • An old iMac G4  running OS 10.4.11.  Will a MacMini revive her to get mail and iTunes10.4.1 etc? cannot be upgradedAsk your question.

I am running an old workhorse iMac G4 running OS 10.4.11.  Will a MacMini reviver her to upgrade to lion or at least Leopard so I can get my mac mail and iTunes 10.4.1? Thank you.

No. An iPod greater than 4.1 requires OSX 10,5,8 or later.  That is a paid update for the G5.  You have to call Apple and order it for $129.

  • TS3988 Hiya... I can't get my iCloud mail account to activate on MacMini running OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.

Hiya... I can't get my iCloud mail account to activate on MacMini running OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
    Any thoughts?

Be sure the mini is connected to icloud (system preference>icloud) and that you also have mail turned on.  Then be sure the mail program has the icloud account defined in it's preferences.

  • How to move old e-mail from iMac to shared MacMini - separate user accounts?

My wife and I share a new MacMini.  We each have separate user accounts.  She would like her old e-mail messages moved from her old iMac to the MacMini.  I believe they are in her old iMac's USER--LIBRARY--MAIL  directory.  Is this right?   Do I just copy these files and paste them in the same directory in the MacMini?
Also does anyone know how to move her old Keychain files on her old iMac to her user account on the macmini?
    Thanks for the help.   -Bruce

There are two issues when I do so. First of all I have "ghost" accounts who do not show up in my e-mail preferences but keep on showing up randomly. Secondly I cannot remove "other accounts" in Mail>Preferences I will get the following error message: The account "XXXX.XXXX.Com"  is shared using iCloud. You can remove this account from iCloud in Internet Accounts.
And in iCloud internet accounts the particular account will not be visible.

  • Synch e-mail from MacMini to iPad running IOS5.1.1

Using an iPad (1G?) - and can't get it to synch Mail.  The iTunes "prescription" under the Info tab doesn't work - no "synch Mail Accounts" listed. Tried manual setup bases on "Mail Settings Lookup" from my MacMini - no success. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

I Don't understand what this means. Manual setup bases does not computer for me. Did you try adding the account directly on the iPad in Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Add account? For most email providers it really is a very simple thing to do.

  • Mail use on IPhone4 and Macmini

I have an IPhone4 and a Macmini as a desktop machine.  I would like to receive mail in my desktop machine's inbox as well as on the IPhone.  At the moment , if the mini is powered down, then mail is automatically downloaded to the IPhone and I can't see it on the mini when I power up.  I would like to be able to check mails on the Iphone if and when I am away from home and then deal with them in detail when I return home (not of course if I have deleted anything from the IPhone)
Is this an unreasonable requirement or am I missing something in how to setup my system?   Any help would be appreciated
    Alan

    Thank you for answering.
I know it shouldn't have been able to stop those accounts from working on the Mail app but it did.Out of 4 machines, 3 stopped working at the same time.  The 4th is on Snow Leopard and continues to get my Comcast mail.  But the one Tiger machine and 2 Leopard machines no longer access any mail from any server.  Shouldn't be possible, but it happened.
I don't want to delete accounts because I don't want to lose the old email in the different folders on there and the software is acting so bizarrely, I know the mail would be lost.
I checked all the settings and compared them to the one on Snow Leopard that still works.  The settings are all the same.  The only difference is the OS.
And to make things more frustrating, I found that several entries in my Contacts book were either deleted or scrambled with phone numbers for person A in the entry for say, person C.  I mean it's a real mess and this all happened after I got a notice from Apple that they were shutting down all their mobile me stuff and sending everything to iCloud.  Syncing is obviously a mess now and I don't even want my stuff sync'd there.  My husband has never even signed up for iCloud but since he has an iTunes account, thus an Apple acct, they appear to have automatically put him on iCloud too.  And....mail quit working unless he gets it on his iPad or iPhone.
We're fed up with Apple's insistence on total control of it's customers' previously working equipment.  We have no desire to upgrade to Lion or it's next iteration. We have been happy with what we have and asked only that it continue to just WORK.
It's become a rotten Apple in the past few years.  We've been with them a long time but  we're watching other companies closely for something that will do what we need without the draconian control.
I have a feeling the only way to "fix" Mail.app is to upgrade to Lion and we won't be doing that.
    Thanks again.

  • How to restore header and dock to Mail on MacMini?

When using Mail I have to scroll to tippy top of page to get header to show. I have to Quit Mail in order to get Dock to show so I can go online.  This is a recent development.  Why?  How to restore?

It sounds like you may have gotten Mail into Full Screen Mode.  Unfortunately, I understand that getting in and out of Full Screen Mode is different in Yosemite (I use Mavericks), so I can't tell you what steps to take to get it back the way it ought to be.  Sorry about that.
    Good luck

  • Setting up a mail server on a 2010 MacMini Server

    Hi,
I am having great difficulty in setting up my Mail server on my 2010 MM server.   Setup is as follows:
    1.  Domain name hosted by dyndns.org with mail forwarding setup to forward incoming mail to my mail address <[email protected]>
    2.  Outgoing mail is being sent from the server via my local ISP using their relay server
    3.  Mail Server settings in Server app shown as "Provide mail for: mail.domainname.org"
    4.  Authentication set to: "Relay outgoing mail through ISP"
    5.  dyndns.com confirm that the domain host side is set up correctly.
    6.  Local ISP confirms that local relay service is set up correctly.
Problem is Mail account cannot be activated in Apple Mail.    email setup details in my server Mail app are as follows:
         Account Type:    POP
         Email address:   [email protected]
         Full Name:         my name
         Incoming Mail Server:   mail.domainname.org
          User Name:      admin
Password:        password on the dynsdyn.com srever
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):   Local ISP providers mail relay service
Has anyone any idea where this setup is wrong?   Also, I am unable to find a server manual for OSX 10.8.4 server.  Does anyone know where I can get this?
Any help you can give is most appreciated.
    Thank in advance
    Roger

    Hi Linc,
For the email address on the server, I create the account in my Apple mail in the normal way.  I fill in the details shown on the accounts setup panel as shown in my original post above. I then click on the "Enable this account" button but it does not connect to anywhere.
For the Server setup, this is also described in points 3. and 4. above.
The result is that the server seems to be setup properly but this may not be the case, which is why I asked my questions.
Sorry I cannot be more explicit but if you are willing to ask deeper questions that might point to the problem, I would be more that delighted to supply the answers if I can.

  • How do I Import Mail Contacts from MS Outlook to Mac Mail? MacMini OSX 10.9 Mavericks

Hi I am using OSX 10.9 Mavericks.  I have been trying to export my People Contcts list from MS Outlook to Mac Mail, can anyone help? Thanks

    Ed,
the simplest solution is to convert your Outlook PST file to standard mbox files using Thunderbird - TB on the PC imports Outlook data just fine and - unlike the other proposed solution - is free. When you install TB on your PC for the first time, it will ask you to import your Outlook data.
Once you have all your mail messages in mbox format, you can import them into Mail. However, instead of using Mail's "Import" feature to do so, I would propose you use Eudora Mailbox Cleaner for this - the program can also import TB mailboxes to Apple Mail and will preserve all your message status flags (read, replied, ...):

    Help.
After receining multiple assurances that my e-mail woud be integrated seamlessly, It clearly was not.
It APPEARS the problem resides in a new format or address for the IMAP & SMPT servers, or Port selections.
Can anyone, anywhere privide me with what data and what format is required to elimnate these possibilties.
I have exhaustivly scavanged support & help documentation as best as I'm able.
The precise address' & formats are provided for Windows users, though I believe they a for marrying e-mail
    to MobileMe.

  • When I open mail I get a list of the messages received but when I click on a message it does not displaying the main window. I have 2 different mail accounts

Just bought a new MacMini(my first Apple PC) and when I open mail I get the brief details of mail received but whe I click on the message to read the details I get a "loading" sign but the message is not displayed.
Any help for a Dumbo would be appreciated.

Very strange, do you have any AV or Web filtering apps like Norton installed?
Do the working accounts use a different Port or Authentication than the non-working one?
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
