MAGENTO WEBSITE AND SAFARI (Mac only) BUG.

I seem to be finding that my new website does not work with Safari 4.0.5 on a mac running OSX 10.4.11
Cookies will not enable (checked preferences)
You cannot log in.
You cannot add items to basket or shop.
I don't see who is at fault and why it works fine on Safari and Windows 7.
Can anyone help?
I also see this issue on other peoples sights.
http://www.lodgerfootwear.com
Is an example.
You can create accounts but not log in or buy or add items to your cart.
Also if you try to use Magento admin panel it just resets.
Since this is a Safari and Mac issue not PC and Safari where is the issue coming from??
Can anyone please advise? I would really like to launch my website but since many of my customers use this set up I and force to wait.
Thanks

Safari is one of the most standards-compliant browsers ever built. Thus, your best bet for ensuring your pages render properly in Safari — today’s version and beyond — is to follow web standards. Hi
    I submitted bug to Apple...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2910867&#2910867
As did we who reported this crashing August 22 2006, sure would be nice for tsa to write a better website, and Safari to tolerate bad code a wee bit better.
My fix at the time, for my Safari is to stay away from the site.
Perhaps the next OS update will address the problem.

You've installed some form of adware. Take a look here:  http://www.thesafemac.com/arg/

  • Safari quits when I try to go to Songza.  This only happens with this website and it's only been happening within the last week or so.  Any solutions?

  • Websites and safari

When I go to some websites (facebook, aol mail, yahoo mail, etc), the website says the browser not supported try updating it.( it also says try using safari, ie, firefox) I have safari 4.0.5 so it is up to date. Also, I have installed firefox, however the websites said the same thing. So, I uninstalled safari. I can still use these websites, it is just annoying. What am I doing wrong? Do I uninstall safari and reinstall it? One more thing, I do have Intego Virus Barrier X6 version 10.6. Hope this helps.
    Thanks

    HI,
I do have Intego Virus Barrier X6 version 10.6.
Running a/v software with Snow Leopard is redundant, slow your Mac down and degrade performance. Snow Leopard comes pre installed with anti virus malware protection software. You do not need to run Inteo Virus Barrier. Delete it from your system. Read here. http://www.apple.com/macosx/security/
If you saved the original VirusBarrier.dmg download, doubleclick the virusbarrier X5 installer. The uninstaller is available there. A/V software is extremely invasive and hard to remove.
As for Facebook etc. From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences and select the Autofill tab.
Click the Edit button next to Other forms. Delete .facebook.com .yahoo.com and any other site you are having trouble accessing then click Done. Relaunch Safari and see if you can access those sites.
If not..From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.
Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Since you are running Snow Leopard, make sure Safari is opening in 32-bit mode, not 64. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.

Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
If Safari still gives you problems, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If it's a successful launch, then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.

  • I have a website and a .MAC account. Please help! Not sure what will happen

Anyway, I used to use DREAM WEAVER then got .MAC and use it for idisk and stuff like that.
And I used iWeb exported and put it on my hosted domain....
So I guess I am asking is what happens when I create a website then click publish....where does it go! And has anyone made money from Adsense via google? I ask as he talks about it during the talking of his last keynote.
    Thanks!

okay I don't think that made sense.
I have a domain that I used with dreamweaver, then used iweb to change it.
Now I have a .mac account.
When I click publish to ,mac, where does this site go and how do I find it?
    thanks

  • Dept of Worforce Website and Safari issues

I was using the website, most everything works, but I get this on hyperlinks:
    Error 404: SRVE0190E: File not found: /CSSWebHelp/CSS_Field_Level_Help/CSS_401K_MonthlyDistribution.htm>>cap=Field Level Help>>pan=1
    any ideas?

No, 404 errors happen all the time, usually with the redesign of a web site, pages that were previously there are taken out or given a new home and people might still have the old page bookmarked, or the site designers didn't update the site navigation to redirect requests for the old page to the new one. It's definitely not a Safari issue; you'd get the same result with Firefox or any other browser.

  • 1 website and 2 mac

Hi....I created a website with IWeb with my MacPro. I then bought a Macbook and I want to continue to work on my website with this new computer. How can I make the transition to my new computer.
Do I have to redo my website from scratch with my new computer ?

Your iWeb data is stored, not in your actual html files, but in a file called Domain.sites which is stored in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. Find this file on your old computer, throw it on a thumb drive, and move it to the same place on your new computer.

  • CSS layout problems in Explorer (fine in Firefox and Safari)

Firstly apologies to the mods, I had mistakenly posted this
    in the dynamic section also...
My problem - I am working on a CSS site (my first!) here
    http://www.benfrain.com
It appears fine in Firefox (PC and Mac) and Safari (mac) but
when I view it in Explorer for Mac (5.2.3) I get a over long page
and I get no auto margin on the left.
Another small curiosity - I have noticed that my background
image on my div id "header" seems to start off again on the right.
Again, Explorer 5.2 for mac only...
My html and css both validate.
Anybody know why this is happening?

Have you tried increasing the text size?
Do you mean in the browser? I just tried it in Firefox and
after two increases the layout/style of the page kind of 'falls
apart' - how would this be rectified?

  • Data recovery house tainted my Mac-only files: help!

I sent a failed ext. FW drive (clicking sound, wouldn’t mount) to a fairly-well-known data recovery specialist that advertised PC and Mac formats. The drive contained numerous Mac-only files, including Sound Designer II audio files (.sd2), Final Cut Pro (.fcp), and Digital Performer files (native, no suffix), to name a few.
After said specialist started working on the drive, it became frighteningly apparent that they were not up to speed on Mac systems. To make a long story short, after a couple of weeks I received a hard drive formatted FAT32, and every Mac-only file showed up in Finder as a Unix Executable file.
My first thought was they were using Windows-based software and had corrupted all my Mac-only files beyond repair. Forging ahead and knowing nothing about scripts, I used a 3rd party program called Super Get Info and was able to change the Type and Author of the Digital Performer files, and got them to open. So far, so good. But changing the Type and Author of the .sd2 files didn’t yield the same results; Finder sees the type, size, etc. but no audio program (DP, Peak, Jam) will open them.
Thinking I was screwed, I opened another project in DP that contained audio files which were still recognized in Finder as Unix Executables, and they played! I have no idea why this works---no other program will open them independently---but it shows if I can get an app to recognize them, they are still valid files.
Is there a way to dig deeper, besides just changing the Type and Author, to essentially get back all the header(?) information that was originally there in the .sd2 files (before the "data recovery") so an audio program can see that these are indeed valid files and legit to operate on? Something in Developer Tools, 3rd party, etc.?
    Thanks,
    Roger

Extern firewire drives often come formatted as FAT32 - so unless you reformatted it yourself that may have been the way it was. When Mactintosh files are saved to a FAT32 file system, the resource information is written to a file with a ._ added to the front of the file name. If you go to a terminal window and cd to your extern drive, "ls -A" will show if the resource information is there. For a file call "file.s2d", you should see a hidden file call "._file.s2d". Some utilites have trouble creating resource forks on FAT32 drives - so your utility may not be working. Try moving some of your files back to your main drive and correct the Creator and file type there - may be that will work.

    Safari Problems
Safari - Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Unfortunately, Safari cannot be updated past 5.1.10 on a Mac running v10.6.8.
So, the options are to upgrade to a newer OS X or use Firefox or  Chrome.
Be aware, Apple no longer support Snow Leopard v10.6 >  www.ibtimes.com/apple-kills-snow-leopard-os-x-106-no-longer-receives-security-u pdates-1558393
See if your Mac can run v10.9 Mavericks >  OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
If so, you can download and install Mavericks for free from the App Store.

    Hi Anne,
Your version of Safari is still supported.  Please see Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs for supported OS and browsers.
If the Flash Player plugin is in the Plug-ins (disabled) folder it's because it's an older version that Apple has disabled in Safari.  This has nothing to do with whether or not Flash Player supports the browser.
I'm not sure what you mean by "when i click on flash player itself i am told there is no application to open it."  Flash Player.plugin only works in the browser to view Flash content in the browser.  The plugin does not open files outside of the browser.  If you have SWF files you'd like to view outside of the browser, then you'll need the Flash Player projector. However, based on your previous comments this doesn't appear to be what you are trying to do.
Google Chrome does embed Flash Player in it, while Firefox does not.   Mozilla has also recently started blocking older versions of Flash Player in Firefox similar to what Apple is doing in Safari.
Following the 'clean install' instructions should result in you having the latest version of Flash Player installed that will not be blocked by the browser.

Code errors could explain the problem.  You're missing a closing </div> tag for container.
