Mail Alias support

Another question before I'd change to Blackberry:
I use a mail account with several alias-adresses. On Android I installed K9-Mail where I can set more identities per mail account and which also will reply with the correct mail address. That means: it will get my correct mail adress from received messages from the "To" field and use this identity as "From" when I hit reply (instead of having to select it manually).
I was wondering if the standard BB10 mail client will also support alias mail adresses, or if not, if it can be replaced with some other mail client that does. I noticed that there is an older version of K9 in the BB Market, but I'm no sure if this integrates into the hub well, or if this might have some downsides on BB10.

You will have to wait until your account is updated to make use of the @icloud.com address - Apple are working through all accounts doing this over an unspecified period. @me.com aliases can no longer be created.

  • E-Mail Alias Deleted

I need Verizon to restore my email alias, which was deleted by Verizon technical services yesterday during a screen sharing session.  He was attempting to create a sub account with the alias name, but even after the deletion, he was unable to do so. The we weren't able to restore the alias.  Now, I have a dead e-mail alias which means email is getting rejected when sent to me at that address.   I spent hours on the phone with Verizon Technical Support today, but the situation was not resolved. I keep getting told that there is nothing that can be done.  And I've never received that promised phone call back from the person who is working on the open ticket.
I find it hard to believe that once a user name or alias is used that it is permanently removed from future use, as the Verizon technical support reps have implied to me.  I have used this same alias for eleven years.

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".

  • E-mail alias address no longer working

I am using two e-mail addresses, one the original @verizon.net and an alias I set up @xxxxx.com
I was regularly -- but it seemed sporadically -- getting this following message, sometimes when I tried accessing, but sometimes just when the Apple Mail was open but I wasn't doing anything:
Enter the password for user “ -- alias address --” on IMAP server “mail.alias.com”
For a while I hit 'cancel' and everything worked fine.
But then I went into "account" and tried to fix the problem ... and I think I changed the password for the alias. In any case, I am unsure what the password is...and I can't see it on Preferences/Accounts.
I have used the password that works for the @verizon.net ... but that does not make a difference.
Now the root "Inbox" and the "alias" addresses have the tilde by them, indicating offline. Nothing I do gets rid of the tilde. I get that same 'request for password'.
NOW I am NOT receiving e-mails to the alias address.  I really need this alias, it's my business address.
AS I WAS TYPING THIS, the message from Apple Mail popped up again. I had to hit 'cancel' or 'OK' (back and forth, each one) several times before it stopped popping up. This has happened before.

the verizon settings are here, and or you can use their auto email set up.
    »www22.verizon.com/residentialhel···6652.htm
These are sample settings for a non verizon email address (@gmail.com for example)
    Incoming
    Your incoming mail server
    no ssl
    Your email address
    your username
    your password
    outgoing
    outgoing.verizon.net
    no ssl
my server requires authentication = yes
your verizon username (should be the same thing that you use to sign in at »webmail.verizon.com, test your password by logging in at that website, if it doesn't work, then reset your password and use the correct information)
    your verizon password
should work on 25 since this part is verizon, but if it doesn't work for whatever reason try 587
sometimes third party mail servers don't play nice, and don't use 587 for their alternate port. like go daddy often uses port 80 for ougoing as an example.
The Problem is you are unsure what your incoming password should be, and so whoever your provider is, you'll want to either go to their website, and do their self help option for "i forgot my password"  reach out to their chat support, or call them to reset your password.        The password is very important, so if there is a webmail version of that provider (for example gmail has gmail.com) then you should try the i forgot password option at their website.

  • I can't delete an iCloud Mail-Alias.

I've created an Mail-Alias on icloud.com and can't delete this Alias on icloud.com although there is a button which should delete it. There is always a failure message which tells me that the Alias can't be deleted because there is a "Server Problem". After this message Mail crashes and I need to reload it.

    All,
I have just spoken to Apple Support using my Apple Care Express Lane service...
I too had the crashing issue when trying to delete a "capitalized" alias.
The lovely gentleman on the phone simply reset my iCloud Web Mail preferences from his side. This changed all my aliases to lower case, allowing me to delete them as I saw fit.
It seems to be a discrepancy with the iCloud Web Mail preferences pane and the back-end preferences file... The file stores ALL iCloud mail addresses in lower case, meaning when the Web Mail app sends a delete request for a capitalized alias, it fails - it must be case sensitive.
So, if you can get a request in to Apple Support (maybe via the Genius Desk) ask them to reset your iCloud Web Mail preferences.
    I hope this helps.
And hopefully the Apple Techs will fix the preferences link!

  • Adding multiple e-mail alias addresses to an account

Can someone please tell me how to add another e-mail address to my Mail account. I have tried using info from the Mail Help file, both "adding another account" and "adding multiple e-mail alias addresses to an account". Each time when I try to send a test message to or from the added e-mail address, I get the same message: "Cannot send message using the server mail.bellsouth.net. Use the Pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server". The only pop-up is smtp .Mac.
I have tried both methods shown in the HELP file and get the same message. I would really appreciate your help.

Are you trying to add a second email account to Mail, or just add a second "(apparently) from" address to an existing account?
If the former, we need to know some more detail, like:
    (1) who is the existing account, .mac or bellsouth?
    (2) Which are you trying to add, .mac or bellsouth?
    (3) I assume your ISP is Bell South?
    (4) What are the names of the smtp servers and what are their respective smtp server port numbers?
    (5) Are either of them using SSL on the smtp server?
    (6) I don't remember whether Tiger Mail has it or not, but in Leopard Mail, on the menu bar under "Window" there is a selection "Connection Doctor." If applicable to Tiger Mail, what does it say about your connections?
    (7) Which account can you send mail through and which one can't you send mail through?
    (8) Are your receiving mail okay through either or both accounts? Which one(s)?
Now if you are trying to add a second "(apparently) from" address to an existing account, in Mail Prefs > Accounts > mail account > Email Address, just add a second email address separated by a comma like so:
       [email protected], [email protected]
You could have an issue with bellsouth or .mac requiring the domain name in the apparently from email address to match the domain name of the smtp mail server.

  • Can't add E-Mail Alias to my Apple ID - no E-Mail to confirm

I got two Apple ID's (#1 & #2) and both are signed up for iCloud. One of them (#2) got a E-Mail Alias. I want to add this Alias to my Facetime and iMessage E-Mails. Its always saying that this E-Mail already used by an other Apple ID. But the point is.. when I call to the Alias on Facetime its calling the other Apple ID (#1). I deleted the Alias in the Apple ID Settings of ID #1 on appleid.apple.com. After deleting I signed in with ID #2 and tryed to add the Alias but I didn't get an E-Mail to confirm, yet. I tried it about 6 times. What to do now?

I just spent a week going through this.  As things currently stand.  ALL Apple IDs, seem to require DIFFERENT emails.  NO TWO CAN SHARE ONE EMAIL.  Even if its an alternate/secondary one.  I have three.  One for "find my stuff", one for iTunes, and one for here (forums).  Guess what, I had forgot about my forums Apple ID and had it pointed to the same email as my iTunes.  iOS and iTunes upgrade came and >BOOM< no more workie .
I now have a different email address for each Apple ID and all is well...  Finally...
    Hope this helps!
p.s.  You CAN have same passwords for different Apple IDs, but I don't recommend that either...

  • Mail.app randomly chooses incorrect mail alias when i reply to mails

    Hi
Hope this makes sense. I have a few additional .mac mail aliases set up one in particular i use a lot for subscriptions to job sites and any other subscriptions. Problem i have is if i create a new mail and choose the alias from the pull down list and send it everything is fine, this is also true if someone sends a mail to that alias as well. Problems i'm continually having is that when i reply to a replied mail or an incoming one that's been sent to the alias occasionally but quite a lot i guess, the mail from address changes to my default main account and not the account the mail was sent to.
This is so frustrating as my real account has been sent out to certain conpanies that i should'nt have because when i click reply it will disregard the mail alias it was sent to and just choose my default.
it doesn't happen always but a lot. Anyone else seen this issue or have any suggestions? Just to clarify, my aliases work fine as do the option to choose and alias from the pull down list it's just when replying to a mail sent to that alias.
    Thanks for reading this far.
    Macca

    Hi Numbatfouram,
I know how this works, let see if I can explain it!!...
When you hit the "new" button to compose an outgoing email, whichever account in your Inbox is highlighted is the one that the outgoing mail address defaults to. So make sure your Inbox toggle is down, which should show all your accounts. So when you are sorting thru your mail and want to reply to one in "XXXX" account you will be "in" that account.
    Whew, did that make sense?

  • Setting up an iClould e-mail alias in Mail

I went to the iCloud website and created an e-mail alias. I'd like to put that alias into my Apple Mail application on my MacBook Air. I'm not able to add the alias to my Accounts in Mail because the Incoming Mail server field is grayed out.  What am I doing wrong? If I try to login to the iCloud website using my alias and my Apple ID password, it won't take it.

I think I may be on to something.  When I go into System Preferences>Mail, Contact and Calendars, I see my alias on the list but it's at the bottom, is grayed out and says "Inactive" under it.  If I click on it, it's wanting me to enter my current Apple ID password. When I do that, it says my password is incorrect.  What's interesting is that it thinks my new alias e-mail address is an Apple ID. So it seems that this alias has created a new Apple ID that's different from the one that all my other e-mail addresses are under.  So do I create a second Apple ID that is tied to this alias or is there a way to get the alias added into my current Apple ID.
I noticed that when I go to the iCloud website and try to login using my alias e-mail and my current Apple ID, it won't accept the password, which makes sense considering the fact that in the iCloud e-mail list the alias is under it's own Apple ID.
Maybe another option is to create a brand new Apple ID with a brand new alias and use that as my additional e-mail address. Is it possible to have multiple Apple IDs? It would only be used for this e-mail and nothing else (such as iTunes, etc)

  • E-mail alias drop-down menu in Mail missing?

Ordinarily when I create a new e-mail in Mail, the new e-mail window has a drop-down menu from which I can pick an e-mail alias.  It's disappeared for some reason.  How do I restore it?
I don't know if it's connected, but at the moment, I seem to be unable to send a message from Mail.  I checked the connection, and it said it's fine, but the message won't send.  Was able to send using iCloud.com, though.

That only appears if you have multiple smtp servers. If you are not able to send emails, I would guess one of your smtp servers is not on line.  Check the Connection Doctor to see if there is a problem.

  • Why does Mail not support read receipts?

I find it hard to believe that there is a single email application that doesn't support read receipts. For me it is a fairly basic feature I would expect any decent Mail application to have.
I am currently in the process of writing an email to a company and I want to make sure they get it - a read receipt is how I want to verify that they've had it. Why does Mail not support this?
If I am going to have to accept that Mail is not the first class application Apple keeps parading around - is there an alternative that offers this and other features I would expect to find in Microsoft Outlook (minus the calendar etc...)?

Outlook uses a Microsoft-proprietary system for "read receipts", so there may be no way Apple could implement it, or there may be licensing fees involved, or Apple may just not feel that it's worth spending the money to implement. Outlook which is designed to work primarily with an Exchange server, so it's in Microsoft's interest to support Exchange features (note that even Microsoft in their own Mac app do not support all the features theydo on Windows).
You can express your interest in this feature to Apple via their feedback pages, if you wish:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
but support for return receipts in any system other than Exchange is very unlikely, since as Matt said it is not part of the Internet email specification and hence not widely supported at all.

  • How to recover a mail alias

how to recover a mail alias ?

When a POP account is deleted from Mail Preferences Accounts, all the mail files locally cached are deleted. A warning splash screen comes up and tells you that, when you are deleting a POP account from Mail Preferences Accounts, and it asks you are you sure that you want to proceed deleting the account. If you had originally configured the account setup to leave downloaded messages on the server and to store drafts on the server, then recreating the account configuration in Mail Preferences Accounts would, I believe, get you back to normal. Otherwise, you may be needing to use some data recovery software, but after a week, it is likely that those deallocated blocks of hard disk, where your mail and important draft resided, have likely been overwritten and are now unrecoverable.
You may want to consider getting an IMAP account somewhere for the future, where deleting an account configuration from Mail Preferences Accounts does not affect mail stored on the IMAP server (or drafts, if you store drafts there, too). IMAP also has the added benefit of staying sync'ed between multiple computers, too. Some email providers are not too keen on them because then they have to provide storage space for customers above and beyond storage space for their new incoming unread mail; that's why they do POP.

  • Extra mail alias

I have an email alias showing up in my Mac Mail program that isn't a valid alias in my iCloud account. Not sure where it is coming from or how to get rid of it. Anyone got a clue? (Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. There doesn't seem to be one specifically for mail, and since it does involve iCloud, I just figured this was the best choice).
    Thank you.

UGH!! I have the same problem!! Not only is mine not a real address I spent 45 minutes on the phone with support and they couldn't get rid of it and TODAY I got an email that they assigned me a new cloud email address with that designation. I don't want any of them and can not get rid of them!!
