Mail Can't find items using search box
After import from my 10.5 iMac G5 to my 10.5iMac Intel I can not retrieve email data using the mail's search box. Any ideas?

Went to upgrade my library. It said I had 429 songs to upgrade for $99.40. Went back a few minutes later and it said I had 429 songs to upgrade for $100.60. Try to upgrade and then received "Can not find item. Try again later" error message. This morning I checked and I have only 3 songs to upgrade. Hmmmm.
I'd wait a few days and see if the tracks then appear as upgradable. With millions of tracks to be upgraded, not all of them will be instantly available and there may be some errors (quite likely, I would say). Plus it's quite likely that the iTunes Store is getting hammered with all the people wanting to upgrade, so there may be intermittent glitches due to the heavy load. If the problem doesn't correct itself in a few days and you're certain that the same album it available as iTunes Plus, contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form at the bottom of the Purchase Issues FAQ web page and explain the problem to them.

I have taken your recommendation and enabled the script menubar item. I also tweeked the script as you recommended, I will play with both options to see which I prefer. I thank you again for the quick turn around on this.
If I am to understand your comment correctly about placing the .csv file in the same folder as the files to be renamed I should modify the script as such.

Can't get the Google search box in toolbar
I've been working on getting my new iMac 27" with Mountain Lion functional, and now I've run into a problem I don't seem to find others are having -- I can't get the Google search box into the toolbar. It just won't go there. I've dragged the thing from the View>Customize Toolbar, and I've also tried dragging the whole toolbar, and nothing sticks. I get a little green plus symbol, as if it's adding it to the toolbar, release, and then...nothing. As much as I like Duck Duck Go, there are still things I need the old Goog for, and I'm bewildered by why this won't stick. There don't seem to be any actual settings for it either, just the drag and drop.
This whole setup has been beyond frustrating. I wish I'd never upgraded.Safari 6
Apple combined Google search bar with URL address bar in Safari 6.
Apple calls it Smart Search Field.
There is no more a separate search field. You enter the Google search in the unified address bar.

I'm getting prompted to update adobe acrobat 9.5.5 which I have deleted. I am currently using 10.1.13. It is still asking me to update 9.5.5 (can't find anything using it) I have tried to cancel the update prompts for 9.5.5, but it only recognizes the 10.1.13 version. Suggestions? Am I missing something? It's driving me crazy!

Could you please let me know what version of OS are you using.
Also, go to Control Panel/System Preferences in Windows/MAC and check whether Acrobat 9 is shown under installed programs list.
You might also try running Acrobat cleaner tool to remove all traces of previous versions of Acrobat:

Then, install Acrobat X again from the link mentioned below:

Be green and don't print! The iPad user's guide is in the bookmarks section of Safari. But, because you'll be reading it in Safari, you have to be in a wifi area or using the 3G network. However, you can download the .pdf and open it in the free iBooks reader. Then you have it with you wherever you go and don't have to be on the internet to read it.

I can't find my serial number, I can't find items I've had downloded and it says were purchased.
I can't find items I've downloaded, I tried to find the serial number, but I have itunes on a Windows computer. I also HATE the new version of itunes, hard to navigate.

Mail can not find certificate in key safe
Hi,
I am using own certificates that work all fine with all pc and iphones and ipads and macs using OS below 10.10 (Yosemite) and 10.10.1.
Since I updated a mac pro to the new OS, mail can sign and encrypt replies to received mail, but can not find the certificate when creating new mails.
An error windows drops from the top in the mail editor window (message can not be signed, no trustworthy certificate could be found):

Once a new mail was tried to produce with using certificates the TLS line disappears:
I think something is wrong in mail. Any idea?First, the address associated with the S/MIME public key must exactly match the address to which you're trying to send the encrypted message, or from which you're trying to send a signed message. If the message is both signed and encrypted, both addresses must match. The matching is case-sensitive: "[email protected]" does not match "[email protected]".
The signing and/or encrypting certificates must be valid: not expired, revoked, self-signed, or signed by an unknown CA. You can check the status of the certificate in Keychain Access (see below.)
If you can't encrypt or sign messages to a valid address with a valid certificate, continue.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ First Aid
If the box labeled Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
Select Keychain from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
Quit and relaunch Mail. Test. If the problem isn't resolved, continue.
Export all S/MIME certificates, delete them from the keychain, and reimport. For instructions, select
Help ▹ Keychain Access Help
from the menu bar and search for the term "export" in the help window. Export each certificate as an individual file; don't combine them into one big file.
Test again. If the test fails, delete all the certificates again, then reinstall them from fresh copies. -
"... Items could not be copied..." error message - can't find items!

I get the following error message when sync'ing ATV with iTunes on my iMac:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library, including "file name", were not copied to the Apple TV "Apple TV Name" because they cannot be played on this Apple TV. For a list of items that could not be copied, click the triangle below."
I clicked on the triangle and get this error message:
+Clicking on the ! in the list states that+:
"file name" was not copied because the file type is not supported by the Apple TV "Apple TV Name".
Here's the mystery, these files don't exist in iTunes. They used to at one time but for some reason, Apple TV thinks they're still there.
Help!!Ok, I'm getting a similar problem. I purchased the TV Shows from my ATV, at one point they synced back to my iTunes and are now not physically on my ATV. I recently copied all of my iTunes library from the iMac HDD to an external drive. Now I have 2 problems:
1. Attempting to sync gives me the same error, which makes no sense to me since I bought them from the iTunes Store on the ATV in the first place.
2. Since only streaming is available, I see the full list of shows on itunes, but it disconnects within 3 mins of watching the stream on my ATV. The ATV then disappears from the Devices list in iTunes, and won't reappear until i restart the app.
I've searched all over the net, but can't find any answers. I'd be willing to try any suggestions. -
Apps exist but can only find them thru Search
I have an iPhone 4S with nearly 400 apps on it. Until recently, those apps were arranged in 11 neat pages of icons and folders. Then this happened:
1. I updated to IOS 6. All seemed well.
2. Tired of opening folders for some apps, I decided to make a few full pages dedicated to apps I use most. So I made one full page of my favorite Photo apps, another full page Shopping apps, etc.
3. In so doing, I reached the 11 page limit, and a whole bunch of apps weren't showing up on the screen, only on Search.
4. So I started grouping stuff into folders again so that my apps only filled 7 pages. But all that did was give me 7 pages of apps and 4 BLANK pages! The missing apps are still missing and did NOT come in to fill the empty pages that I created.
5. While desperately trying to figure out any way to get all my apps back on the screen, I read on a few forums that going into Settings -> General -> Reset and resetting the home screen layout would work. So I tried that. All that did was put all of the Apple default icons on my first page, unbundle all of my apps so that there are NO folders anymore, and put all the apps in alphabetical order from A through G onto the 11 pages that are available. All apps from H to Z are not showing up -- except if I search for them.
6. So again I try to group stuff into folders to make space. I free up several pages of space, but that's all they are -- just several BLANK pages of space! My remaining apps are NOT filling into that blank space that I've created. They're still MIA.
How the heck do I get all my apps back on the screen?!
This is frustrating. Any help you can give me would really be appreciated.If you can't find them on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find them via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then are they hidden by an app age rating in Settings > General > Restrictions > Apps ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find them after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. You could also do Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout which will re-arrange your apps and might make them easier to find -

I'm looking for things like using negative (-) to exclude items from search, using AND, OR, other tricks, details like that.
You can't do that in Firefox.<br />
In the library and sidebar you can only do simple AND type of searches and search the title and location field.
You would have to export the bookmarks and history to an HTML or CSV file and open that file is a spreadsheet or other program that allows such more precise selections.

When I open a new tab, I would like a new, dedicated search box that is owned by it. This would help to keep the context preserved when doing searches on multiple, separate topics. Is there a way to configure this or an add-on to do it?
You can do this by using the default about:home page with the Google search and place it in a new tab.
You can try to reset the prefs that do that to see if it'll reverse the action
