Mail crashes in mountain lion when printing

Hello
I have installed Mountain Lion and Mail crashes when printing. Mail itself runs fine. I tried reinstalling the printer drivers, resetting all passwords of the system, along with resetting privileges. I read through many feeds here on this situation, but nothing solved my problem – Mail keeps crashing when printing to any printerdriver or to a PDF file.
Did anyone encounter this problem?
Anyone has a fix for this?
Thanx for help
Karsten

Half a day later – all seemed to be solved – nothing goes. Mail crashes again when printing. Preview crashes as well when printing.
This looks like there is a serious bug in the OS itself, and nothing which can be cured permanently by changing some settings or updating some preferences.

  • InDesign crashes on Mountain Lion when DontShowAgain dialog comes up.

    Hi,
I am working on an InDesign plugin that is perfectly working on Windows and Mac(Leopard, Snow leopard & Lion). Now, when I'm using this plugin on Mountain Lion, InDesign crashes whenever Don'tShowAgain warning dialog comes up.
Can anyone help me out what can be the reason of crash on Mountain Lion.

Mountain Lion I finally installed from scratch (erasing entire hard the computer). Once installed the system, the first thing I did
was install InDesign CS6 ... After install I open a file and InDesign automatically closed.

  • Contacts Crashing in Mountain Lion When Using Exchange

My contacts (address book) application now crashes after the update to mountain lion.   Originally when I first upgraded it would not crash but I got a blank address book that was non functional.  I tried deleting the account and readding it now it crashes.
    Has anyone resolved this ?
I have deleted and readded the exchange account in the accounts list but that did not help.

*** Disclaimer: Be careful of this make sure you have a backup of your computer before doing this.  I take no responsibility for anyone screwing up their data/computer ***
    I solved my issue by
    1. deleting all the accounts from the various settings (mail, contacts, unified login in settings)
    2. going into  ~/library/application support/addressbook
    3. zip the folder up incase something goes wrong
    4. deleting everything in the address folder.
    5. going to the unified logins page and re-entering my exchange info.
    Everything resynced and it worked.

  • Mail crashes with Mountain Lion

Everytime I go to launch Mail it crashes with the following error
Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
    0   libsystem_c.dylib                  0x00007fff89dbb690 strlen + 16
This is really bad because I have discovered that iCloud does not have a number of folders that were supposedly on iCloud according to Mail and of course anything that was stored On My Mac is not there either.  I am presently using Postbox which is fine but not optimal since I use Mail otherwise.
I tried restoring Mail from Time Machine and that did not work, and all of the repair database instructions I can find are either out of date or require that Mail actually be running to work.  The problem is unique to my Mac Pro, my other Macs work fine.
The Mac Pro is my primary machine.  Is there a way to restore an old mail database and force it to rebuild?
Do I need to reinstall Mountain Lion?
    Need some guidance friends.

Miraculously, the post below about Lion works for Mountain Lion as well.

macmrjohn   Re: Mail 5 (OSX Lion) does not work after mailbox migration     Dec 15, 2011 1:43 PM    (in response to Alejandro M. Ramallo)  This same thing happened today when migrating a friend's laptop. THE SOLUTION: Inside the Library folder (Lion hides this folder now, so hold down the option key and use the Go menu in the finder — Library will appear in the menu. Go there.) you'll find the Mail folder. Inside the mail folder was another folder called V2. I simply took the contents of V2 and dragged them to the parent folder (Mail). When I launched mail again, everything was back to normal. As Apple says, "It's that simple!"

  • Motion 5 Crashes on Mountain Lion when using audio behaviors to affect filters. Please help, Thanks!

When editing videos in Motion, I like to use the Audio parameters to have the filters react to the different amplitudes in the song. When using this combination. Motion runs extremely slow then crashes.

How much RAM is in that MBP?
I'd make sure you have at least 15% of your hard drive capacity as free space.
In the Render menu (top right of canvas) be sure to turn off everything you're not using (shadows, etc), and lower the resolution to make playback easier for your laptop.  You can change these back to full resolutoin when you export.
You can try to trash Motion's pref files quickly and safely with "Preference Manager", free from Digital Rebellion (dot com).
If that doesn't work, move the Motion app from the Applications folder to the Trash.  Launch the App Store, in the Purchased tab, click Install for Motion.
But be sure that MBP is maxed out on RAM for stuff like Motion.

  • Why my smart folders dissapear in mail when i close mail application in mountain lion?

Why my smart folders dissapear in mail when i close mail application in mountain lion?
    Please help!

My results jumped up from around 1000 to 10,000 when I did that.
I think this may have to do with having x11 and xcode installed.
In case anyone is interested, these are the folders I've had to exclude:
    User\Library\Developer
    System\Library\Frameworks
opt in the root folder of the HD (this is x11. You may have to Finder's 'go to folder' option to get to it.)
There was also Office stuff coming up which looks like it's from the system when you see it (the identities folder and the subfolder within the Office 2011 folder in Applications)
The combination of this stuff seemed to create the impression of more files from the System and Library folders were coming up than actually were.
In case anyone is still reading, the stuff *still* being thrown up that I'm aware of is
Mountain Lion screensavers from the System and Library folders.
PreferencePanes - System, PreferencePanes - User and PreferencePanes - Library folders, which each show up as individual results.
But, as you say, bispymusic, perhaps Apple has deigned that those folders appear in results. Thanks a lot for your help! Have a good one.

  • I would like to import the .abcdp files from my old, restored HD (was running mountain lion when the mac crashed) to the addressbook of my new mac (10.9.5)

I would like to import the .abcdp files from my old, restored HD (was running mountain lion when the mac crashed) to the addressbook of my new mac (10.9.5).
    Please advise.

I don't have access to one.
I don't understand why the new address book is not backwards compatible with the data from former OS X versions.
In 10.8. preview was still able to read the files although it was already impossible to import them into the address book. But Why?

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion, when I reply to an email from the Global Inbox it incorrectly selects the reply to address.

Ok, since upgrading to Mountain Lion, when I reply to an email from the Global Inbox it incorrectly selects just my main business email account, even if the email was sent to a completely different persoanl address. This use to work without issue in Lion. I have at least a half dozen accounts that all come into the "Global Inbox" and I never worried about what account I was replying from as it always matched the account the email was originally sent to.
Now in Mountain Lion, this is broken and no matter what email I select it defaults to my main account and I have to remember to manually select the proper reply address from the drop down menu. So far the only way to avoid this is the keep all the separate account Inboxes showing and then selecting the account that I want to view. Then when I repy it is to the correct address, but having to do this makes the "Global Inbox" view completely worthless! If I have to select teh correct Inbox to get the proper reply address every time then what is the point of having a Global View?
Why did you break this Apple?

    Hello,
When you compose a message right click on the attachement and choose "View as Icon".
I know there was a Terminal command to set all attachements as icons by default but never tried it :
    - You can also use the Terminal (in your Applications folder > Utilities) quit Mail, and type in the Terminal :
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -boolean yes
    - To restore the original settings type :
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -boolean no
    (source)
    Hope this will help.

  • How to enable logging for mail.app in Mountain Lion

I am at my wits end trying to figure this out....
Does anyone have a clue how to enable the logging for mail.app under Mountain Lion?
In the past, you could open up Console and click on Console.log and see the logging of mail. Under mountain Lion, there is no more console.log. I cannot figure out how to enable it.
I have tried to run the AppleScript of "Turn On Logging" but the script errors out under Mountain Lion.
Does anyone know how to do this or a better way, maybe a tool or something that can help you troubleshoot mail.app issues?
    Thanks in advanced

    Hello,
I have a similar problem. The script "Turn on Logging.scpt" runs without error, but I do not see any socket logging. I only get two messages, which I also get when I start mail without the script by just clicking the mail.app icon in the dock. The Messages are:
    1/10/13 3:43:32.618 PM Mail[11276]: Using V2 Layout
1/10/13 3:43:36.388 PM Mail[11276]: *** -[IADomainCache init]: IA domains cache is out of date.
    Any help would be appreciated

  • Does anyone have an email client that is working with Mountain Lion? I'm giving up on Mail after installing Mountain Lion

    Hi
I give up.  I just cannot see my exchange inbox in Mail after installing Mountain Lion.  My mail is not being deleted.  Its still in my inbox I just can't see it. I've tried everything suggested on the forums and nothing is working for me.
My productivity has completely stalled and I really need to move to an email client that is going to work seamlessly with Mountain Lion.
    Any recommendations?

I have the same problem. Upgraded to ML, and my Mac Mail suddenly can't communicate with Gmail's SMTP server.
I have been having the SAME problem with ALL my Gmail accounts with Mail.app - It is very annoying, especially when you have clients and other important email to respond to.  So you're definitely NOT alone in this department.
Might have to go back to Thunderbird or something until this gets fixed, which is going to really suck because I have 5000+ emails along with all my Email Folders in Mail not too mention the Rules I have had setup for years!
AND with the RSS Feeds NOT working in BOTH Mail and Safari!  That was a HUGE MISTAKE and defintely a STEP BACKWARDS on whoever's idea that was for sure!

  • My mail app in Mountain Lion freezes

My mail app in Mountain Lion freezes a few second to a few minutes after launching. I have already re-installed the OS but it didn't help.  Any thoughts?
I have one exchange account that I have removed and reinstalled.  I've tried to see if it's conflicting with any of my other apps, I can't find anything there either.  Never had this problem before, but would like use of this app.  Thanks.
    Mark

More info.  It seems to freeze when switching between mail and other apps.  It then becomes impossible to switch back to the mail app, though mail will be indicated in the app name just to the right of the apple menu

  • How can i use an external screen on mountain lion when i'm running on battery power?

    Hey all:
I just upgraded from snow leopard to Mountain Lion, and i use external screen, keyboard and mouse all the time....
On Mountain Lion it's perfect when the power adaptor is connected as soon as you close the LID your external screen becomes the primary screeen and it's fully functional desktop (no mirroring or extension screen)
But the problem is when i'm in battery power, in snow leopard i used to close my lid my mac goes to sleep then i wake it up using the mouse and immediately open the LID so it doesn't go to sleep again and now i'm running on battery power with a primary external screen.
Any idea how to use an external screen on mountain lion while i'm on battery power? (i know i can use mirroring but i want just 1 primary screen and the laptop screen would be turned off )
    Thanks for the help.....

You can't with the lid closed, that's one of the rules for clamshell mode.

Try going to the web based site and see if you can set up a temporary folder there. Move anything you don't want to download to that folder.

why do we have to buy mountain lion when we bought lion? Others who didn't purchase lion don't have to pay for it to move to mountain lion.

As far as I know the only people not having to pay for Mountain Lion are the ones that have purchased a apple computer after the 4th of june or something. These people get a free upgrade. All others will have to pay for a copy of Mountian Lion.
Do you maybe have a source, which states that others don't have to pay for it, where people that have bought Lion do have to pay?
