Mail not recognizing links inside emails

Using Mountain Lion ver 10.8.2 and Mail ver 6.2
When I open an email sent to me with Links to a website, I click on the Link and I receive this message.
Error
No associated application could be found.
Any suggestions for fixing this. Cutting and pasting is getting old.
Thanks,
BBritt

I have the same configuration - OS 10.8 and Mail 6.2 with Safari as my default browser.  My mail links still do not work.  I don't get any error message, just nothing happens.  I can right click and select "Open URL" but that's lame.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Firefox does not open links inside of Google Mail - any email, but Internet Explorer does.

    Hello John.
You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

  • Mail not recognizing new password

All right so I recently had to change the password on one of my Yahoo.com mail accounts because I could not remember the last one. I have this one linked up the mail application on my computer, however it is not recognizing the new password (yes, I'm typing it in correctly, in fact I'm just copy + pasting it). I also checked keychain and it didn't find any problems  apparently when I ran first aid.
How do I get my computer to recognize my new password? This is ridiculous.

Unfortunately it is not recognizing the password still. It recognizes the copy + pasted password on yahoo.com, but when I use the copy + pasted password with apple mail (even after deleting it) it doesn't recognize it.
It was giving me a message that it couldn't connect when I put in the password. However I figured it out. What I had to do was copy the password from what I had, put it into the login area for yahoo.com, have firefox remember the password, then copy that password from firefox's preferences and paste that into the apple password part.
Weird thing is though is when I looked at the two (the one I had kept typed and the copied one from the saved yahoo) they were exactly the same, so I don't know why it wasn't recognizing it.
Thank you for replying to my question though!

  • Mail not recognizing new certificate, recognizing old expired certificate.

Recently the Thawte certificate for the SSL mail server at work expired and Mail could no longer connect to our mail server. No one else in the office uses a Mac and no one else seemed to be affected. IT claimed all their certs were up to date. I contacted the fine folks at Thawte and they hooked me up with the new cert. I've added that to my X509Anchors keychain, along with the root cert from Thawte to be sure, and Mail is not recognizing it. In fact, the old expired cert is in my login keychain, so I delete it, but every time Mail attempts to connect to the mail server, the old expired cert reappears in my login keychain and it gives me the same "expired cert" error message. Temporary workaround has been to change my system date/time so it is within the valid dates of the old expired cert, but that renders my calendar useless, and other problems. What is going on? Any ideas? How can I get Mail to use the new valid cert?

    Anna,
I am having the same issue. I am on a new laptop without my cert, so I downloaded it again from thawte but it only installs the public key, not the private key.

  • Mail not recognized in account

I created my new iTouch in my iMac and did first sync perfectly.
I bought a game and synced it. No problem.
Now in the iTouch, I confirm account and mail to access the game, as requested.
    "E-mail not valid".
    What the ** ?

Did you set up the account on a device that asks you to pair a device? If so, this is the older version of sync.
Are you using an email address in the username? [https://accounts.firefox.com/reset_password]

  • Windows Live Mail not connceting with BT email

    Hi
After 11 weeks trying to get help from BT I managed to get my BT email working, sort of. The problem I'm left with is that Windows Live Mail will not connect to it, an error message of user or password not recognised appears. I've read various messages on the internet but still have had no success. My Windows Live settings are as follows:
    Servers
    My incoming mail server: POP3
    Incoming mail: mail.btinternet.com
    Outgoing mail: mail.btinternet.com
Email username: [email protected]  (have tried this with the part before the @ also)
Password: xxxxx (Password working on BT email)
Log on using clear text authentication
    Advanced
    Server port numbers:
Outgoing mail: 465 with SSL ticked
Incoming mail: 995 with SSL ticked
Any idea what is wrong? Should I go back to BT about this when incoming and outgoing mail is working using BT email? Thanks for any help

  • Run As Administrator Firefox will not open links in emails

When Firefox is opened with Run As Administrator links in emails will not open. Is this normal?
    Using W7 Firefox 23.

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * Open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''

  • Mail not delivered to external email ids

    Hi,
I have configured the mail server in SCOT and i am able to receive mails to the Companies internal email ids, but if i send mails to external emails like gmail, it says
"No delivery to <external email id>, as recipient unknown"
but, the email id. is correct.
SAP Server ip addresses have been added to the relay list of the exchange server.
    Following entries made in SCOT:
    - The default domain
    - Mail host and mail port
    - * given in Address Area
    - Node in Use ticked under General Information
Mails are getting delivered to internal email ids from SAP, problem is only when sending to external email ids.  Please clarify.

  • Apple Mail Not Properly Launching and Email Lost

    Hi -
I've recently upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4 (have yet to install any updates). Everything went fine except with Mail 2.0. All I use is .Mac, and we have four aliases.
First, when I launch it, the black triangle appears, but no viewer window. I have to actually create one through the menu.
Second, almost all of the selections under File, Edit, or Message are "greyed out".
Third, no historic email is shown. Rule-Created folders are there, but nothing else.
Fourth, I can send mail fine. If I send a test message to another address (say my Yahoo account), it shows up there, but not in my local Sent folder. If I send it to myself, I have to log on to .Mac to get it, as opposed to showing up in my in-box.
Fifth, I see a "timer" icon next to "In Box" or "Sent". This icon is similar to what I see when publishing from iWeb, to let me know how much progress has been done syncing to .mac. Is it the same here? Is it indexing my messages?
Sixth, to close Mail I have to Force Quit it. Plain quit does not work whatsoever.
Please help! I don't know what to do. I've only seen one other post that is almost exactly like my situation, but the question was unresolved.
If the answer is to update Tiger to 10.4.11 to fix, that's easy (although I'm trying to stop at 10.4.9, due to broken isync-cell phone usb link in 10.4.10), but I don't have much faith in that being the solution. Should I reinstall the Mail app (or Tiger all together)?
    Thanks.
    - Greg

I'm now on my husbands machine OS X 10.4.11 and mail will not launch. The black triangle appears, but no viewer window shows up and unable to open on via file open viewer window. Mail eventually needs to be forced to quit. Help! Help!

  • Mail not recognizing ZIP and PDF attachments

Since upgrading to Leopard, I have received a few emails with attachments in my work IMAP account. Some of the emails are fine (the ones with XLS and DOC attachments) and others display the attachment as a bunch of encoded text in the email (ZIP and PDF files).
Thunderbird can read all the emails just fine, so I think that the problem is that some kind of mail setting is screwed up or it is a bug in the Apple mail client.
Does anyone know why Apple mail would not recognize the data as an attachment?
Here is an example of what shows up in my email:

  • Safari and Mail not recognizing IP/network after picking up new WiFi?

Very strange behavior that has happened numerous times - and I can't figure out what is going on.  The situation is that when I travel to school and connect to the wifi network there, I'm having issues with Mail (5.1) and Safari (5.1.2).  Network CP shows me an IP address and appears all is well - however Safari does nothing (no msg that I'm "not connected to the internet") and Mail just displays the triangle with exclamation point inside ...next to each mailbox.  Interestingly, I can open up Firefox and go on my way.  So why is Firefox able to 'see' the internet (Dropbox and other apps are fine too) yet Mail/Safari is having issues?
    Here's what I've done:
Quitting/re-opening Safari:  Safari icon bounces in dock for a minute, literally, and never opens.  Now I go to try to open it again and it doesn't even try to open - no bounce, nothing (it's actually in "not responding" mode according to the force quit box).  So I force quit, re-open and it goes right back to that same behavior - not responding.  Have to restart to get it to act normally again.
Mail won't even quit. I have to force quit - every time that this happens.
Anyways, I can't tell if this is MB Air specific behavior, given its wifi troubles (which I have continuously whether at home or school) - or if this is purely an OS/software issue.....or a combination?
Anything else I can do to help troubleshoot, let me know.  Thanks in advance.
